The radiator in my work truck cracked, I called Stelmach and they got me in as soon as I got the truck there. They had it replaced, tested the head gasket and had it back up and running in under four hours. If my truck goes down, I dont work. These guys get it. Awesome service and awesome work. If only there were 10 stars....My radiator cracked while driving in Prescott Valley Friday morning. I called John and took my vehicle to him. He had a new radiator in and I was back up and running within a few hours. And within a few dollars of his original reasonable quote. Words and stars cant express my gratitude toward this guy. It was a wonderful experience. Being new here and needing a good mechanic, I asked around and coworkers told me about Stelmach Automotive. Being that I recently bought an old 1990 Chevy K2500, I knew there may be some needs addressed. Took it there and Al, gave it the full once over, even did a computer diagnostic on it. He informed me that the truck was solid. He told me that it had a lot of new parts for the front suspension and steering, that is had a newer motor and had an upgraded transmission. Told me that it just needed some of the control arms and alignment arms tightened and the that there was a misfire in one of the cylinders. Other than a few minor leaks here and there, it did not really need anything at this time. The misfire was a loose plug wire. Oh and he even adjusted the rear brakes for me, as my son and I had recently performed the brake job. When ask what it was going to come too, for what he did, he laughed and told me that he wouldnt sleep at night if he charged me for what little he did. I was amazed. Al and John, you guys are wonderful. Although you have a small out of the way shop, I will bring my vehicles and recommend you to everyone I know. It is hard to find great, decent, fair, and trustworthy businesses, especially in the auto repair world. I have just found the diamond in the rough. Thank you both.

I bought a radiator from John about a year ago for my F250 diesel truck. It was priced very competitively and has held up perfectly for the past year. If ever in the need of a radiator I would highly recommend them for price and quality.

I was in Prescott from out of town and needed a simple tack weld on a home project (small enough to carry in one hand) nothing fancy at all just to hold it. Waited an hour for Dad (the welder) to get back but was turned away and told it wasnt possible (thats funny, because I welded it originally with a cheapo electric welder). Then he told me it would cost $40... (hmmm I thought it wasnt possible?)... He clearly just felt fine wasting my time and didnt want to do anything because he felt it wasnt worth his time (5 min tops). The place was dumpy and poorly kept as well, cant imagine getting important work done here...

1850 miles home and my radiator fluid was leaking. John fixed my problem by hand making a hose fitting that worked better than the original. It was all done in 2 hours at a very reasonable rate.

Unfortunately after 35 years of happy customers Im forced to defend ourselves from faceless internet remarks. This particular customer waited an hour because he came in with no appointment in the middle of the day and was still served within an hour. The metal he wanted fixed was pot metal and doesnt always stitch well and is particularly hard to work with, Which is why after this person fixed his piece it broke again. Pieces made from this type of metal are often not fixable, after hearing from this person he had to have this exact piece fixed we offered to try for him and the price reflects the time involved in working with an inconsistent metal.I personally invite anyone to make their judgement on my shop by coming down personally or just checking around with the great people of Prescott.
