Ive been going to McFarland for a few years now and they are very good at what they do! They are very professional and try to get you the best deal they can. They are also very informative and help you understand the problem your car is having. I would recommend them to anyone! I think they specialize in Asian brands (I have a Subaru Outback), but I have also taken my Ford Escort to them multiple times.

Hands down the best mechanic shop in Utah these guys are fair, honest, and quality! I would highly recommend them to anyone of my friends and family and I will be taking all my vehicles exclusively to them for repairs.I have taken my truck there twice now for two separate issues and both experiences have been nothing but positive!

I was so excited to use McFarland, given all the rave reviews. But Im hundreds into getting my Scion fixed and nothing has been resolved. Nothing. All the same lights and problems. So I cant keep giving them money, if you know what I mean. They seemed nice, but I need someone to fix the problem before they pocket my Ben Franklins.

I spoke with Tod and Alex over the phone, called to ask if they could preform a vehicle inspection on a car I was looking to purchase. The 2 of them were EXTREMELY professional, just speaking with them you can tell they know what they are doing and care about the customer which is very hard to come by. The vehicle was inspected and they discovered some things that the dealer had missed which help heavily in vehicle negotiations. I live almost an hour away from this shop and decided to purchase the car and would drive down here for the repairs despite the drive to have the car repaired. The customer service here is amazing and considering I did everything with them over the phone I would consider their in person to be even better. Very happy with way they do business.

This place is great! I took my Camry to get an oil change done and they noticed that my battery wasn’t mounted correctly. Someone in the past had used a zip tie where a bolt should’ve been. They noticed it right away, fixed it, and asked me if I had taken my car to other shops. I’ve had this car for years and have taken it to a variety of shops and nobody else caught this! It goes to show that they do a better and more thorough job at this shop than any other. Everybody is always so kind and professional. I won’t go anywhere else.

Through most of my life, I have had to deal with shady or bad mechanics to the point I feel like Im going to get taken anytime I have a car problem. That is not the case at McFarland Automotive. Not only do they guarantee their work, they will work on the problem until its fixed, they are some of the most honest people I know and if it is under warranty they will honor it at no charge. Thanks to Todd and the guys, a problem that has been plaguing me for 3 years, which no other mechanic has been able to properly diagnose, has been fixed. I dont give out five stars unless a business meets the 5 criteria of quality service, good value, professional, prompt and knowledgeable. McFarlands showed all 5 so the 5 starts are well deserved! Not only would I recommend them, I would recommend them over any other shop in Utah and Oregon.

We have had a lot of car troubles in the last month on both our cars. We took them into another shop before McFarland and they were trying to scam us with unnecessarily replacing things that they couldn’t give any explanation for. We decided to take our cars to McFarland and they were incredible! They helped pinpoint the real issues and explained it to us. I have a 2001 Toyota Camry with a check engine light that was coming on and off. I took it to 2 other auto shops (both in Orem) and spent nearly $2,000 on repairs without any improvement. After taking it to McFarland, they diagnosed the problem correctly, made the repairs and the problem was fixed, not to mention for a less expensive rate than the competitors. They were extremely friendly and offered to pay for any extra repairs if they didn’t fix the problem the first time. I’ll definitely be returning for any future car repairs because I feel like I can trust them.

We were far away from home, with our 2 year old son and a piece of metal fell off under our car. He fixed it at no cost to help us out on a very bad day. I would recommend this shop to anyone he is awesome with amazing customer service! The dog greeting guests made it even better ❤️

I had a blown head gasket, and with everything else compounding the stress at the time, McFarland Automotive really came through. One of the most honest and expert mechanics in Utah. I really cant recommend them enough.

They are very good and very reliable. My family has been going to McFarland Auto for years. Weve been lucky to find them. I was out of town recently when my car broke down, and I had to use a different mechanic. I took the car back after the same dash light came on while I was driving it home. The other mechanic said it was an electrical problem. But when I took it to McFarland Auto, they found that the part was faulty and replaced it with a good one. McFarland Auto is wonderful. They are very knowledgeable and honest.

Took our van here after my Grandpa recommended them. They stood up to their reputation. They let me know what really needed to be fixed in our van. The previous place we went to gave us a quote for $1100 worth of repairs. McFarland Automotive said that we only needed one part replaced, and they quoted it for $240. When we came back to pick up our van they told us that they had misquoted and the part we needed had actually cost a lot more, BUT it was their mistake for quoting it wrong and they wouldnt make us pay the difference. They stuck with their original quote and ate the cost. It is companies like this that survive because that is how you make customers for life. Thank you McFarland Automotive. Oh, also, they were very nice to my rambunctious toddler. And offered him free candy. So, another plus!

Finally found our mechanic for life! These guys are the real deal. Extremely thorough, honest, good prices, and I don’t feel like they are trying to upsell me on extras I don’t need every time I come in. I have used them for a Subaru, a Ford and a Honda, but was recommended them from someone about my Subaru because they rock at fixing Subaru’s. I was so impressed with my experience that I have been coming back ever since. I’m a 30-something female and they don’t treat me like an idiot; they explain things so well that I truly understand it. We have an old beater F-150 that we use to haul stuff and suddenly it wouldn’t start last month.. we towed it in and for some reason it was starting just fine for them! They tinkered with it over the course of a couple days and then declared it to be just fine and didn’t even charge me any diagnostic or labor fees!! I was floored. And I’ve driven it 10 times since then and it really has worked fine haha! Long story short, after someone else telling me they were the best and giving them a try several years ago, now I am the one recommending them to everyone who asks for a good mechanic you can trust.

Their staff is highly trained and they have two master mechanics.Back when they only did repairs on Japanese cars we lamented not being able to take all of our vehicles to them because we were never as happy with the quality of the repairs done by other shops.They are great to find after market and or junk yard parts to reduce repair cost as well. We feel that we have never been over charged by McFarland Auto. We highly recommend them.Their office is clean, staff very professional and they dont get our vehicles dirty. Great customer service!!

I have been taking my Toyotas to McFarland Auto for the past 8+ years. Sometimes I show up with my garage mechanic / internet diagnosis, and each time they find the real issue which is always cheaper and less involved than my suggestion (or at one point, Larry H Miller Toyotas suggestion - that will never happen again). Point is, they are honest, and I highly recommend McFarland for Japanese auto maintenance. I moved further away, and will still happily drive an hour out of my way to have them work on my vehicles.

LOVE them! My dad has been going to them for years when they were Japanese Auto, and when the clutch went out in my car we assumed it would need to be completely replaced (has 97K miles). We took it to one place that looked at it and quoted us $1550, then called McFarlands and they quoted us around $1200 for the same thing. We decided to have it towed to McFarlands to save a few hundred dollars, but when they looked at it they discovered it was only a minor issue and cost $130. We will be taking our cars to them forever!

I have two cars with various problems and McFarland is always able to fix them so I dont have to take my cars back for the same thing. They always do a good job and use good parts. They have reasonable prices and I appreciate their work.

Charged me $200 to change a fuse and tell me they didn’t know what was wrong with it. I broke down on state street in front of another mechanic shop 5 minutes after leaving McFarland’s. The other mechanic fixed it for free and said it was a very simple fix any mechanic should know.

I went in to have them look at my alignment because my tires were wearing on the outside. I told them BigO tires recommended replacing the tie rods because they were seized and if they tightened them any more they would break. 5 minutes later they come and tell me they broke one of the tie rods. They said this was the first tie rod they had seen that broke, but i told them if they tightened it, it would break. They said they could replace it but because my tires were worn it wouldn’t align right. So that forced my hand to pay $500 to fix the tie rods and another $900 for tires. I feel like my hand was forced since my car was stranded at the shop. I feel like i was wronged and I will be looking for a new mechanic for my family vehicles.

Holy crap! My 2005 civic was having some pretty bad problems. It was constantly overheating. Another mechanic diagnosed it as a water pump issue but was going to charge me in the $1000 range to fix it. I remembered McFarland had much more reasonable prices and decided to take it there. Even worse news: I had a blown head gasket. McFarland did all of the work for a much better price, and it had lasted well. As long as I am in Utah, my autos will go to McFarland.
