They told me I needed to replace the battery even though it worked, I trusted them and got it replaced, but then my blinkers stopped working right after and they told me it was a way bigger issue and would be expensive to fix. Took it to another mechanic and it a much smaller issue. I truly believe that they took advantage of me because Im a young single female. Never been so disappointed.

I know the reviews on this place are mainly bad, but let me tell you- this place is GREAT🌟!!! They recently got new management & I seriously can’t say enough good things about the guys here! Ean has been helping us with looking at cars- we bring them to him, he inspects them, then brings us out to the bay and shows us everything he would recommend repairing and if the car is in good condition and would be a good car to purchase- when their is minimal damage or repairs due or tons- he tells us all the ins and outs! He is very helpful! We finally decided to buy a car & we will be using their services for the repairs even though we live in Salt Lake because I trust these guys a lot! Bring your cars here! It’s the best place!!!!

Just got charge $86 bucks for a diagnosis on my car. They literally took the four tires down told me what was going on, put them back and charge me that much. I went to two other places and both were for free! What the heck! Besides that they told me way different things that needed to be done. And they are a fast stop location to get you cars registration renewed so that you dont have to fight the wait time at the DMV. Very friendly and professional customer service. The waiting lobby was kept nice and clean and during this very hot day the temperature is cool and comfortable. Coming from someone that has a hard time with heat that is as important as the quality of my car maintenance.Well fond out that over $3000 another mechanic wss saying needed done on my car was all bogus... thank you tuned for becoming my new regular mechanics. I was referred to Tunex by a local friend when we first moved to Utah 20 years ago. She said people there were very honest and they always did a great job repairing her cars. She was so right! Tunex has become the “car guy” for my family ever since. They have never let me down, with top notch technology and skills and second-to-none customer service. Today I brought in my Audi for a diagnostic that the dealership had not been able to conduct effectively, although I knew for sure something was not right. Ty and Keith were very patient, and they were finally able to pinpoint the problem with several rounds of test drive and with the help of some cool sensing device. Such a comprehensive diagnostic only costed me $33 including tax. Then Ty gave me a quote for the repair that I thought was very reasonable. With these guys you don’t need to worry about overpaying or poor repair job. I trust them 100 percent.

I am sure the poor quality of Tunex of Orem services is known to locals, so I am writing this for those who are new to Orem. I know this now because once my coworkers knew that I took my car for repair here, they warned me to immediately tow the car to another auto service!Here is the story: “Tunex of Orem” admitted our 2015 Nissan Altima in the morning of 28th of September for repair. I told them at the beginning what the issue is with the car (a loose wire pin to BCM). The estimated diagnosis time was mentioned to be 3 hours or less. It took them 5 DAYS to finally come back and repeat the issue that I told them myself at the beginning(!) Charged a hefty $368.60 of diagnosis fee and quoted $3,254.10 for the cost of repair.At that point, and now knowing from my coworkers about these folks, I towed the car to the Nissan Dealership. Nissan fixed the car quickly for guess how much? Only $466.01 altogether, including the diagnosis fee. Quantifiably, the Parts/supplies was off by ~5000%, the estimated labor was off by 500%, and the total cost was off by ~700%. I am attaching the receipts from Nissan dealership and Tunex of Orem for you to see for yourself.RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!P.S: Note that under every negative rating, Tunex wants to claim that the management has changed and this situation is no longer the case. In my case, even Tunex HQ escapes the responsibility and encourages mismanagement. Your best bet is Consumer Protection Agency.

New management and new ownership. Excellent techs, with lots of experience, they are going to be great.

Recently my mother took a truck in to get the brakes checked. They told her that the pads needed replaced along with every single rotor and it would cost over $1000. Turns out that the two front disks where thick enough to be reserfaced and they flat out lied about the rear disks. In the end it only cost about $200 for us to have the work done on the front disks and replace the pads ourselves. Moral of the story: if you dont look like a car guy they will try and scam you out of $800.

Finally I feel confidant taking my vehicle somewhere without fear of being overcharged! Mike and his staff are professional and accommodating . They always call to let me know prices and do their job well. They have gone above and beyond to make me aware of work they are doing and explain things so I can understand without being condescending. I highly recommend their shop.

Had my truck in yesterday for an emissions test and registration, and they were able to put me as a priority between other jobs that would have taken a long time. Even though they quoted me a 45 minute wait, it only took 20 and I was back on the road. We have been using these guys for years.

I was in a real pickle when my car stopped working. I was stranded in Orem and had to get back home in Sandy to my disabled husband. Thanks to AAA, am-pm towing for getting me to Tunex, but I am especially thankful to Tunex for hustling to diagnose and replace my alternator to get me back on the road. Dude helped me last minute and recharged my AC on the hottest day of the year so far. Even went through explaining the process and what to expect. Took the time to answer my questions, didnt dink me around and treated ever customer that came in while I was waiting the exact same way. These guys are knowledgeable, fair and hard working.

I thought for sure my experience with Tunex would be awesome because of all the great reviews but I was so disappointed with the service I was given. My a/c was having some issues and I called in to see if they did any sort of free testing to figure out what was wrong with it. They said they offered free basic a/c testing so I set an appointment to get it checked.I went and dropped my car off for my 1 o clock appointment and gave them my husbands number to call because I would be at work. He let me know at 3:45 that they still hadnt called him so they might have written his number down wrong. I called in and they said they had topped it off with some fluid and put some dye in it to figure out what was wrong and that I would need to bring my car back in in a couple of weeks to then fix what was wrong with it. They told me it would be around $140 for that test. When I told them I was under the impression they were doing a free basic test of my car the guy on the phone answered Well you should have told us that when you dropped the car off. So are you going to pay for the test? I told him I never asked them to run a $140 test on my car to which he replied, I guess Ill just go drain all that fluid then and get your car back into the shape it was in before.When we picked up my car, they had literally drained ALL the radiator fluid out of my car without telling me anything about it. I am so disappointed with how they treated us. We definitely will not go back.

These guys were great! I had an issue with a brake light coming on. They checked it out told me of some some potential issues, but they said lets try some things first and keep an eye on it. It was awesome to have such an HONEST mechanic. I am planning on sending my work fleet here as often as needed. Thanks guys!

The manager was great! He quoted me a price on replacing my headlights and told me if he could do it for less he would. Well everything said the bumper had to be taken off and the labor was going to be over $200 well I got in there and with the proper tools they only charged me $27!!! Honest and true to his word! I will be back and use them for future needs for sure!!

Great place for bumper to bumper pre-purchase inspection.Before I Bought a car from Action Auto, across the street, I took it over to Tunex for their premium inspection. They found a degrading battery and overly tinted windows. Got the dealership to throw in a new battery. Cost me $100 for the inspection, but got a $150 battery out of it. They were very thorough.

I took my SUV in for extensive maintenance and was pleasantly surprise by the bill. It would have cost me probably 30% more to have the same services done at a high-end dealer. Scott (the manager) and Ben (the mechanic) took great care of my car and were honest and thorough. My experience was terrific. I highly recommend.-CW

Been going to them since they were down in Provo (so like 15 ish years) Ben is the best and if hes not hell tell you who is! Love how honest they are. So far my cars never broken down after taking it to them and I havent seen better prices from another mechanic.

This review is long overdue. Mike and the rest of the team at the Orem Tunex are beyond great.Until recently, we had a Mazda CX-7 that caused us quite a lot trouble (thousands of dollars worth of trouble). Mike spent hours searching for a remanufactured turbo that was as within our budget as unexpected car repairs could be. The team at Tunex has always been upfront with us on what was urgent and what wasnt. And when that Mazda started making a knocking noise, we again took it to Tunex, only to discover that it had thrown a rod and that it would cost more than it was worth to fix. They felt so bad for us that they waived the diagnostic fee and labor to investigate the engine.And when the folks at Best Buy forgot to plug in the gas cap door button after attempting a remote start install in our Camry, Tunex cut the diagnostic cost in half because it was such a simple fix.I asked Mike if, when writing this review, I could share these times where they helped us save money. This is just what they do. My wife and I arent special. And I think thats the best part about this place.Five stars. Every single one of them earned.

I was told by my brother to go see Scott at Tunex in Springville to help me with my problem so I called Scott and explained to him my situation and informing him that I thought it was the alternator after Scott listened to my explanation informed me that he was too far away and to go see Mike at Tunex in Orem both Scott and Mike were extremely helpful and went out of their way Mike was able to fit me in even though he had a parking lot full of cars and after a short wait my car was repaired and I was on my way !!! Also during my wait I did some calls and price checking on the alternator and Tunex was by far the lowest so thumbs up from me I will definitely be a returning customer !!!

Being new to Orem was nervous about finding a trust worthy mechanic. I came into Scotts shop and took a risk hoping to get my truck to pass inspection. Nothing but fantastic service and willing to go the extra mile. I will always go back to this shop and recommend it to any one. Very knowledgeable and affordable.

I had 2 terrible experience here.Came in to have them fix my head light and when I left my check engine light came on. When I called to ask them about it the manager was very rude and said that it wasnt their fault. I asked if he could just have them look at it and again he was rude and said that I could come back in 2 hours, when I had just left the shop 2 minutes ago. After hanging up they called back 15 minutes later and said that they realized they had made a mistake and that I could come back and have them fix it. Even though they fixed the mistake the way I was treated wasnt customer friendly at all.I recently bought a new car and heard some rattling under the under carriage and decided to have them take a look at it. When I brought the car in the service was very quick and the manager was friendly this time and told me they diagnosed the problem and that it would cost around 700 dollars to fix it. I set up an appointment to come back the next day. However when I called my dad and explained that I was having Tunex fix my car he said that he would rather have me take it to the auto shop that he has been going to for the past 20 years in Ogden and have them first take a look at it. I had the auto shop in Ogden take a look at it and they said that the problem with my car was a simple fix and it wouldnt cost more than 180 to fix it.I do NOT TRUST this Tunex at all. They will rip you off.

I have a 2005 Ford Escape, and the tech quickly diagnosed what was causing my engine light to turn on. Great mechanics who can read and interpret the diagnostic readout. I think Tunex when I think getting fuel economy.

I just dropped in for an emissions test today after making an appointment. They were ready for me and had me in and out pretty quick. It would have been faster, but they spent an extra five minutes answering some questions I had about my new truck and checking on a couple things for me. Coming back when it time for some real maintenance for sure.

They are wonderful. When I broke my exhaust pipe another 5 shops said bank1 and bank2 are broken so I have to change whole parts it will be 1500. but my father is a mechanic in my country and my major is aviation science l knew which parts are broken bank1 and bank2 are not broken. When I come to Tunex, they know which parts are broken so I save my 1500 dollars.

I was sued by Tunex after making a statement on this review related to whatI believe, a stolen property of mine. Tunex won the case and I was forced to pay them 300 dollars. Prior to that they came to my house and threaten me with slander before any claim was filed. And refused to get off my property so I had to call the police.

Typical rip off mechanic. I went in with an AC problem. I was told that it would be $29 to diagnose. Later that day they told me they had figured out the problem and it would be just over $150 to fix. They asked me to return in a week otherwise their work would be guaranteed. I returned today and was told that what they fixed wasnt actually the problem. Turns out it was $150 so they could put dye in my ac system to later check for leaks. Or in other words, to diagnose the problem. He wanted another $300 for the actual repairs. So much for a $29 diagnosis fee. Since I wouldnt pay another $300 for a repair they had told me they had made and that I had already paid for they informed me that they will no longer honor their guarantee on the first repaire. A complete scam.

Took the car in because the engine light came on. I had checked the error messages the engine was giving out before taking it in to see if I could fix it myself, but the errors were too general to be narrowed down. I offered to tell the attendant the codes when I took it in, but he said they wanted to just scan it again (more labor hours). When I got the car back the next day, the light came back on. When I took it to another mechanic, he said only half the repairs they did had to do with one of the original error codes (P0320), they did nothing with the other code (P0707), and the rest of the (expensive) repairs were completely unrelated.

I went in to get my car fixed so that I could get my tags renewed and it was a great experience, they were very helpful and the price was fair. Will be going back again. :)

I have spent the last few days trying to find a shop that could figure out why my brake pressure is so low and finally decided to give Tunex a try and they went over everything on my car that could have caused the low pressure and once they found it they told me what it needed done and how much it would cost as well as other things that would need replaced and what to do take care of the... They treat every one time customer as if they are a member of the tunex family they are not looking for one time customers they are looking for lifetime clients Incredible Service....!!!! will continue to use this shop for all repair needs.

The main problem I have with Tunex is that they dont have loaner vehicles to use while work is being done on the vehicle. I need my car to commute to work. Otherwise, I am stuck with the bus or Uber.Also, I have an older car. It has problems. Since I am not a mechanic I dont know when a repair is necessary or if I am being cheated. This visit was for a second opinion. It saved me a lot of money. The question then is which mechanic do you trust? Do you find another mechanic to check the first two?I have been a long time customer of Tunex. They have helped me a lot over the years. One problem is that the sales associate changes from time to time. It makes it harder because you have to develop the trust all over again. On the other hand, if you dont trust the sales person then you can just wait for the next one to come along.

I have had my cars into Tunex multiple times.After trying some other local shops that were suggested to me, I have finally found a place that treats me right and doesnt nickle and dime me to death.If it can be fixed, they fix it. If it cannot be fixed they let you know. Other car shops I have used in the past actually kept charging me for the same thing over and over again always saying that if they tried one more thing it could fix it.I would suggest and have suggested Tunex in Orem to family and friends.

Ive never been to a mechanic shop that I trusted... until now. I was referred to them by a brother in law that would bring his vehicles all the way from Bountiful (50 miles) to these guys because they were so good. So I took my truck to them. The truck had failed inspection because of 5 different problems and there were also 2 other problems that I thought they could look at the same time. Long story short... The repairs were done in record time, the cost was much lower than expected, and Scott was great to work with! Since then I have sent three people to them and they have all had equally great experiences. Thanks guys!

Was losing coolant and had a ticking noise that I suspected was a tensioner pulley. Tunex came back and said my water pump was leaking and had a leak in my radiator hose. Quoted me almost $900 for the full repair. Took my car to Cleggs in Provo and they came back and said it was just the tensioner pulley that had gone bad (which I originally suspected), and the hose was just positioned off onto the water pump, nothing wrong with the actual water pump, and quoted about $190. Only added a star for the nice customer service. Would not recommend.

Dont waste your time or money with them. The worst service i have ever experience. I would recommend Jiffy Lube or anywhere else for that matter, over tunex.

Brought my 99 gallant down there twice in less than a month. They installed a new starter for me for a reasonable price and had a very quick turn around. Just went back today because GreaseMonkeys computer wasnt able to communicate with the cars OBD. Called the guys at Tunex, they had me bring it right down and even though they were really busy for a Friday late afternoon got me right in and was able to get me all passed off and gave me a really good deal to boot!! Very impressed with their customer service I will be back for sure!!

Ive had a lot of bad experiences with mechanics in Orem. I never got the impression that any of them were being honest. I havent ever had that feeling dealing with the guys at Tunex in orem. I had a lot of problems with my last car (dodge neon) and I feel that Scott and the team at Tunex was more than fair with me. He was understanding that I was a college students and tried to work with me. As long as I am in the area I will try and give these guys my business.

Scott and his team are exceptional. They are fast, dependable, and repairs are always less expensive than others.

I dont recommend them at all. They are half work kind of mechanics. Ive taken my truck in twice with in a 7 day period for a misfiring issue. First time they fixed it, I drove it home and immediately when I got home it still misfired. Took it back and looked at it again. They charged me again for the same issue THEY NEVER FIXED THE FIRST TIME! I know a lot about cars and engines but there are some things I cannot do when it comes to the computer systems.Again, I dont recommend this shop at all.

Had my emissions test done here, they told me what was wrong with my motor mount and I asked for an estimate 3 days in a row and he told me the system was down and would give me a call back once it would be up but never did. I had to go somewhere else to get my car fixed and wasted a lot of my time.

I would give zero stars if i could. They charged us $600 more than they told us it would cost. They held the car for two days longer than any other place would have. They broke things in our car and didnt replace them. Seriously do not trust this location. Dealing with them has been a nightmare.

I have used Tunex several times over the last few years, and they were great to work with. They had a guy named Scott who really bent over backwards to take good care of me. I recently failed on a safety and emissions test though and took it over to them, and Scott has moved on to a different mechanics shop. The guys that I worked with this time were frustrating, and I just had the feeling that I was getting screwed over every time I dealt with them. They were going over the problems with my car after Id had it in, and I had a bad wheel bearing. I asked what the wheel bearing was and he looked at me like I was stupid and said its the bearing for your wheel. Thanks genius, I realized that it was probably a stupid question but you dont treat customers like that. I decided not to have them fix my car and called another mechanic to see what he could do, and he could do the same work for $100 less. I am sad to have Scott gone, I would now recommend finding a different mechanic.

I have been dealing with Tunex of Orem since 2006 and have NEVER been disappointed. The technicians are talented and they possess something not seen enough today, a real sense of CUSTOMER SERVICE!I use Tunex for all of my oil changes, safety & emissions and other car maintenance needs. I like that when there are normal wear and tear items that need to be fixed on my car that they give me advice on how to accomplish the work in a way that fits in my budget. Unlike other shops which might suggest salvage parts, etc. to keep the costs down, Tunex of Orem NEVER uses or suggests anything except new parts. They keep things in my budget by helping me understand the priority of work that needs to be done. That way I dont think I have to get everything done immediately.I consider Tunex of Orem to be a partner in my car ownership. I rely on their expertise to give me the guidance needed to keep it running properly for as long as possible. Using Tunex of Orem is a great investment to help extend the greater investment I already made in my car!(I did note that there is one less than stellar review of Tunex of Orem. I noticed that this individual has not left a single good review of any establishment. Im thinking its odd for any one person to have so many bad experiences. When it comes to Tunex of Orem, based on my long-term experiences with them, I doubt the validity of that review.)
