I dropped my guitar off at the old location in August and they told me they would call when it was ready. A few months later I checked in and they told me the repair shop had moved and they could not find my guitar. Fortunately I sent a screen shot of the receipt to the owner and a month later they found it. They did not order the part for the auto-tuner, and asked if I WOULD try to locate the part. After not having any luck, I just went to the new location to pick up the guitar. They young man behind the counter greeted me and asked how my day was going. I told him it was fine, but I was disappointed that my guitar was lost and never fixed. The older man (not one of the owners) behind the counter LAUNCHED into me. Accusing me of not providing them with the part, and expecting them to do it. I mentioned to him that the store literally lost my guitar for months. This man went completely nuts on me in front of other customers. It was the absolute WORST customer service of any repair shop in NYC.PS guys: I found the faceplate on Reverb.Com. in case you want to check that out next time.

Short version: They gouged my brand-new guitar and never finished installing the bridge after two months. Don’t trust them with anything more complicated than a set-up.Full Story: I wanted a Mastery bridge installed on my 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster. I called ahead to ask Brothers if they could install it, and they assured me they could. They asked when I dropped it off if I needed it in the next 10 days, and I said no. A month later, I got a call from the tech, saying he was about to get started working on it. Two more weeks went by, and I called to check on it. I was told it would be done “today or tomorrow.” Two more weeks went by, and I called again, and they again said “today or tomorrow.” By this time, it had been two months, and I’d had enough, so I told them I was coming to pick it up tomorrow, whether it was done or not. When I picked it up, I noticed they’d taken the original bridge off, but the original bridge thimbles were still in the body of the guitar. (You have to pull these out to install the new bridge.) Later, when I got it home, I noticed the gouge in the finish about an inch from the thimbles. It’s clear what happened—they couldn’t figure out how to get the thimbles out of the body, and they tried to pry them out with something and gouged the finish. I took the guitar to a real guitar shop downtown after that, and the guys there confirmed that there’s absolutely no reason anything should touch the body when you take the thimbles out, and that the guys at Brothers clearly did not know what they were doing. The other shop finished the installation in a few days, by the way. But there’s no fixing the gouge in the finish of an otherwise perfect guitar.

Brothers guitar shop is an awesome addition to the neighborhood- a much needed music shop on the Upper East Side. The crew is passionate, attentive and dedicated to getting great instruments in their customers’ hands.I recently acquired a Gibson acoustic guitar at the shop. Beautiful guitar very carefully chosen. The guitar was expertly set-up and prepared before it left the shop— all in time for a performance nonetheless. As a serious musician this is the kind of reliability you need in a guitar shop. Even beginning guitarists will find plenty to chose from with the great selection at Bros Guitars! Highly recommend.

Did a great job fixing my 80s Stratocaster. These guys are amazing! They love what they do and it shows. The owners and staff are knowledgeable and seem happy to answer all questions. It is so great to find an alternative to the corporate wasteland that Guitar Center has turned the musical instrument industry into. I have send friends to them and everyone I know leaves satisfied....I know I did.

I heard about the shop last summer when my friend told me he got a summer job working here. At the time, the shop was in the back of a hardware store. I instantly fell in love with the place and began taking my guitars to be set up here. The guitar tech, Joey, always does a great job at setting up your guitars. He listens to what you want and will adjust your guitar free of charge after it has been set up. Ive never had a bad experience here. I would describe this store as somewhat of a community center for musicians. Everyone in the store is enjoyable and welcoming to be around. I feel less like a client and more like friend when Im at this store. The brothers Shawn and Frank will do their best to accommodate you when you visit this store. When I asked Shawn if they had a particular kind of guitar pick and he didnt, he ordered the type that I like. Now I have an excuse to come to this store more often to buy guitar picks.Best thing about this place is that the staff members believe that a music store should always have someone jamming. The guitars that they have on display are amazing pieces. They have a lot of vintage and unique gear that you cant find in any local Guitar Center. If I could rate this store 6/5, I would. Support this store!

Came here to restring my acoustic electric, and since Ive never restrung before, Sergio walked me through the entire process (very down-to-earth dude and super helpful). A genuinely chill vibe at this place; the kind of shop youd expect to find roaming around Brooklyn. Ya gotta love it.

So I decided to support a local business in my neighborhood. I usually go to guitar center or deal with sweetwater. First they told me $85 including strings for a set up. I usually get it done $60. Told to pick up the guitar after a week. It was not ready till 3 days later they pushed it one day then second day then to the end of the third day...it took 10 days for the whole process. I go home and the fret buzz is still there.. i mentioned it when I dropped off the guitar. They said oh well take care of it...the tech guy wanted to do that as extra work ... i get everything done properly elsewhere ....basically they did a string change. Then they double charged me for a misc repair 90$. I went back for it and they refused to refund the whole amount claiming set up doesnt include strings. Buying a squire would have been a better deal than this scam.I would reccomend staying away from this place.

I came in for a set up and after a month of my guitar being there it was still never finished. After calling multiple times I was told it would be done the next day, 2 weeks later it was never done. They were unprofessional and unreliable. I would not recommend getting anything done in this shop. The workers are rude.

I had snapped one of the screws while adjusting intonation on my Gibson SG. I took it to Guitar Center and they told me there’s nothing that can be done. Joey pulled that screw out in no time and replaced it. He also set up my guitar on the spot in like 15 minutes and it plays amazingly. I’ll definitely come back here again!

The owners at Brothers Guitar Shop don’t care about the neighborhood - they have very loud live band performances out in the street, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Please dont spend any money here - the type of people who dont care about who theyre inconveniencing in the middle of a pandemic will probably not be very good to their customers either.

Brought my daughter’s electric guitar to Joey to adjust the neck early in the morning - Joey gave it a full go over and set it up perfectly and I was able to pickup that same evening. My daughter was so happy to have her favorite instrument back in mint condition again and spent hours playing and writing songs. It’s great to know that there is such a capable repair and tuneup option in the neighborhood.

Not only are these guys the nicest folks to deal with personally and professionally, but not only are they knowledgeable, they offer expert repair, super fast turnaround, and their guitar tech can tell you more about your guitar than the manufacturer could . I dropped off a Takamine for a truss rod tweak and intonation and set up .. it plays better than the day I bought it .. I’m not going to bash the guitar centers and Sam ash’s of the world ... wait, actually I am ... don’t waste your time and money on sub par service and inexperienced guitar techs ... take your guitars and basses to Brothers ! AND THE NEW STORE !!!!! CONGRATS GUYS! Beautiful store, loaded with inventory, and bringing musical joy to the community ! Well done !
