Jeff and the whole team are the best! I was able to get all the little stuff I needed from OAJ to finish my Jeep camper build before its 10,000 mile trip out west.

Open Air Jeeps is the ONLY place I now take my kids’ Jeeps. We have 3 first gen Jeep Grand Cherokees, and after frustrating results from other local mechanics and tire shops we took my daughter’s to Tim and they had it fixed and back to us in a day! After we spent a day replacing my son’s power steering pump, reservoir, and hoses there was still a leak coming from underneath the truck somewhere. They found it and fixed it and then found other issues and had those fixed as well for almost $100 less than the price he quoted me. They are honest, fast, and their work is excellent. If you have a jeep, unless it’s under warranty, this is the only place you should take it. Plus guess what? They do full custom builds !

The Good: They know JeepsThe Bad: Shoddy work = Stranded on the Eastern Shore with a transmission leak on Christmas EveI love Inline-6s and this is my third Cherokee. So, after reading the reviews about Open Air Jeeps, I was happy to find a team dedicated to Jeeps, especially when the clacking noises began. I took her in the week before Christmas, and they replaced the tie rods and radiator. When I picked her up on Tuesday, she drove great, so when I began the trek up Route 13 on Christmas Eve, I felt pretty good. However, after crossing the Bay Bridge-Tunnel, I decided to make a quick stop. Im glad I did, because I found my door, the wheel well and the front fender were covered in oil!I took a picture and immediately called Open Air Jeeps, but no answer. I quickly learned that there are no taxis or Ubers in Kiptopeke, VA, and everything, including the shops and hotels, would be closed all weekend. Luckily, I was able to get a ride back to VA Beach. As a former firefighter, I have a Class B license, so I spent Christmas Eve and Day looking for a way to tow the Jeep back home. I called again (no answer), but I also decided to send Open Air Jeeps an email. The owner immediately called me and apologized; he stopped by a little later and picked up the keys. Unfortunately, Open Air Jeeps was also closed for the weekend, but they would fix the Jeep on Monday. From what I understand, the mechanics drove over the bridge and found that they had not replaced or tightened down the coolant line clamp, which allowed transmission fluid to leak out. They said they fixed the clamp, added fluid, and drove her back to my home with no problems. Regardless, for the last month, Ive been listening for noises and checking the engine everyday. I am happy to say that they are no leaks or problems, so they obviously know how to fix Jeeps. But if you get work done at Open Air Jeeps, you better check their work, or you too may be out the costs of the repairs, $100 for a ride, and time with your family.

I wanted to surprise my husband with a hard top for his beloved Jeep for Christmas, and I cannot say enough good things about Tim at Open Air Jeeps. I had done some research, but really had no idea what I was doing and wanted this to be perfect for my husband. Tim was extremely responsive and helped me understand the product and the process. He lined up the top, did the paint match (to the tee!), and took care of everything from start to finish. The finished product was more amazing than I couldve ever imagined! Not only did they take care of the hard top, but also went above and beyond to fix/touch up other minor things and my husband was THRILLED. He has been getting endless compliments since he drove off the lot.I would highly recommend this place for any of your Jeep repair/restoration needs.Thank you Open Air Jeeps!

I cannot express how happy we are to have found Open Air Jeep. After backing into my daughter’s Cherokee, I took my Wrangler to Tim for a couple of minor repairs (he easily could have told me that my bumper needed to be replaced, but instead fixed it quickly and at low cost). Since I was incredibly relieved at being treated so kindly and fairly, we decided to take the Cherokee to Open Air for the necessary body work. Tim quickly provided us with an estimate and was on the phone with us throughout the day answering further questions we had regarding tires, etc. The cost was very fair, the finished product was amazing (body work, new tires and painted rims) AND the vehicle was delivered back a day earlier than promised. Highly recommend and have already referred.

When I still owned it, I used to take my 1999 TJ here regularly. These guys are very honest and straight forward. They really know their stuff! From anything to minor service that I didnt have time to complete myself, to a complete fuel system rework, they always got the job done right and on time, no questions asked. I would highly recommend these guys for any Jeep service you might need.

Tim is a great no bs guy. He didnt try to up-sale anything, only what I was looking for. Cant remember his coworkers name (quiet guy but a hard worker and nice). Had a 2.5 inch budget lift installed and they were efficient and professional. If I ever need anymore professional level work done on the jeep I will be going back to them.

My 87 Grand Wagoneer with a 360 V8 had fuel and ignition issues. A Holley Sniper EFI and a D.U.I HEI distributor/ignition system were installed, plus a few tweaks here and there. Now it starts 1st time, every time and runs better than ever. OAJ was outstanding in diagnosing and solving my problem. Their recommendations and advice were sound, solid and spot on, repairs were completed in a timely manner. They take pride in their workmanship. I never felt I was being BSd, they were honest and straightforward in all communications. The final invoice was fair and well within industry standards. I recommend Open Air Jeeps without reservation.

I decided to look at Jeep mechanics through the Internet and came across these guys. Im located about 5 hours from them, so decided to email them with some problems Ive been having with my 79 CJ, in particular the drivetrain. They responded swiftly identifying and educating me on the possibles. Theyve provided some consulting through email which allows me to appreciate their passion without ever getting service. Needless to say, I will likely be making that 5 hr trip hauling my Jeep down to these guys.
