Saw this beautiful cafe on a Friday night and decided I would have breakfast there on Saturday morning. I looked online for the menu which isn’t available but does reflect their hours showing that breakfast is served ALL DAY from 7:30am forward. Turns out the place doesn’t even open until 9am and breakfast is only served until 11am but the breakfast information isn’t noted until you get to the counter to order. The menu inside the cafe notes that breakfast is served until 2pm. The girl working the counter was extremely rude and unfriendly, the rest of the staff walks around mopey and unfriendly as well. I said good morning with a smile to the girl working the counter when I went to place my order and she rolled her eyes and huffed as if she was disturbed I even spoke to her. I started to place my breakfast order which is when I was told that breakfast stopped at 11am (I was there at 11:15am). I told her about the menu hours and she responded rudely. I asked the girl if she knew how unpleasant she was to deal with and she said sorry. I then decided to order a turkey sandwich which was the saddest sandwich I’ve ever seen. I was so excited to check this place out and buy souvenirs but was turned off by the rudeness I encountered. I almost left after my initial encounter but decided to give the place a try and afterwards I thought I should have eaten somewhere else. The cafe itself is beautiful, the brewed coffee isn’t bad, and the outside view is amazing. We encountered a family of elk near the stream while we ate on the balcony. This place has potential but maybe needs better management to encourage their staff to provide better customer service especially since they’re located in a tourist town. They definitely need to update their website and menu to reflect correct hours. I’m not sure I would return here.
Great venue for happy hour and music. Beautiful view of the Ruidoso river. Friendly wait staff. Experienced bar tenders.
Amazing caramel macchiato!! Every beverage we had here was top notch..including the teas. We had a few different food items here. Green chili burrito, biscuits and gravy..a few muffins and cinnamon rolls. Everything was delicious. Burrito so big I at half and had the other half later. But the service side after you order is kinda off. The same guy that is making all the beverages is the same one grabbing the food from the kitchen. Poor guy really doesn’t have time to do it all efficiently. So we’re all just standing here forever waiting for him to have a moment to grab our orders that are up in the kitchen.. but then there’s people standing there waiting on their drinks. If they figured out a solution to this problem they’d be 5 stars 💕
Great for breakfast. Enjoy the morning or evening out on one of their many balcony areas. There is a bar for you drinking pleasure 😀
The guy whos preparing my drinks didnt wear a mask, was rude, and it was $9 for 2 cups of coffee. This place has gone downhill. It used to be cute and professional, and cleaner

No menu posted so prices were a surprise. Microwaved on a plastic plate; Americano tasted burnt. Cinnamon bun was delicious. Next time Ill just go for the drip.
I loved the view. They have the best coffee and the food was amazing. Some of the staff were a little rude but the girl with long hair who took my order was so sweet and even helped look for my jacket.
Went here for a little after noon craving a well made warm drink with some pastries... I ordered an Americano with the Double BLT and was extremely dissatisfied. The drink tasted like it was a weak brew, Ive had better instant coffee than that. I returned the drink and ordered a cappuccino which also was terrible. Those baristas dont know how to properly froth milk even to save their lives and the espresso shot was bland. The sandwich was uneventful and was just the basics. No butter or oil on the bread to give it taste and it was overly toasted. The only thing this place has going for it was the ambience.
The outside deck in the back has a an amazing view. The hot chocolate is one of the best ones I’ve had and while I didn’t have any of the pastries, they all looked delicious.Note: if you are in a rush, this might not be the place for you because while it’s tasty, it does take a little bit to get your order because of how many people come here for the great coffee and tea.
My family and I used to live in Ruidoso, so we were excited to be back in the area after 15 years. My sis and I were checking places out to eat for dinner that we could walk to from our hotel. We went in earlier in the day to check it out, seemed like a good spot to grab a burger and sit on the patio. We returned later with our mom after walking around town and shopping. It was 5 minutes before closing, granted we were pushing it, BUT, you never turn guests away when the establishment still has the OPEN sign on. My mom and sis ordered their burgers, no problem. When it was my turn to order the cashier was pulled aside from 2 cooks, I could see them in the back saying no more orders and giving him (the cashier, who was awesome) the cut signal. The cashier went to get the manager and at this point I had given up that they would accommodate me so I left. They can take my mom and sisters order but couldnt put one more burger on the grill?? Our dinner that was supposed to be together ended up with me walking to get a slice of pizza down the road alone. (The pizza place was closing but they had NO problem feeding me) Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Im a restaurant manager, if I was the manager of this establishment, there would be consequences for turning customers away. They totally ruined my night that was supposed to be time spent with my family.
We love SGs! The coffee is wonderful! And the food is just as good! The people working here are very friendly and even cleaned up my coffee I spilled with a smile on his face!
Barista was very friendly and the coffee was great. Outdoor seating was perfect to relax, read, and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.
My husband and I had a late lunch here today. We placed our order of a BLT and a turkey sandwich with soup. After waiting for 45 minutes I went to check on how much longer we would have to wait. We finally got our food about 10 minutes later. I have never had such a bad lunch. My potato soup was congealed on top and I asked for it to be re heated. My husband ordered the tomato soup and he could not eat it, it was so bad. My BLT consisted of a wilted leaf of lettuce one tomato and one slice of a limp bacon. My husbands turkey sandwich wa s just as bad. The Chai tea latte that we ordered was cold. We will never go back again.
(All around and unpleasant experience) Stopped in on a Sunday at about 2 oclock, we ordered a croissant and iced caramel macchiato and bought a bag of roasted coffee. Took forever to get the pastry and when we left my boyfriend asked how my drink was. I told him it had a strange taste. He told me he had heard the woman ask the other employee how long the steamed milk had been sitting there... Steamed milk CAN NOT be left out and used for a drink later on... Needless to say I threw it away. The roasted coffee we had purchased was also Burnt, and the bag not sealed with moisture in it. All three items where $25.00 definitely not worth it. Wont be having our business.
1 star because I have to give 1. Waited and waited and waited forever! Finally find out they aren’t serving breakfast. A little customer service goes a long way! Open your doors on time and let people know what’s up. Never again! Get it together!
Disappointed. Such a great setting but our turkey sandwich was not what we expected. We have had breakfast here years ago and it was very good. Not sure well be back.😣
Went in a couple of days ago and didnt know that masks were required. The fellow wearing the beard mask went over the top as I was explaining that I respect their requirement. He threatened to call the police.We. Will. Never. Grace. Their. Business. Again. Not because of the mask requirement but for the over the top reaction from the beard mask wearer.
Horrible cappuccino coffee & chicken salad sandwich! I ordered a 16oz cappuccino & when I opened lid & looked, cup was only 1/2 filled! My sandwich in take away box was just throw in w/everything scattered all about the bix! Chips were the wrong ones!Ill never go back to this place!!If you need a caffeine drink & sandwich, do yourself a favor & stay away from this place!Youll be glad you did!

You MUST stop here! They have a wide variety of teas and excellent coffee. The service is VERY friendly! We really enjoyed the view from the back patio. Ill be back again!

Came on reservations with a group of 14 for 11:15am. Made it at this time since the website said breakfast all day. The back cook/owner stated he would cook us breakfast but the front guy with long beard was highly unprofessional. He started yelling that he would not retake an order and that he wasnt going to serve us. He was yelling in front of customers and throwing adult sized tantrum. They were having to remake the coffees after messing up several orders. Those of us who hadnt yet ordered were so turned off by his blatant disrespect for his coworker and paying customers that we left to eat elsewhere.Will not support someone who is yelling in front customers and being so rude to his colleagues. After waiting in line for 15-20minutes he was still talking back to the prior gentleman and causing tension/discomfort. Went to Cornerstone Bakery instead. Very pleasant service. Also has a pleasant patio and ambiance. The bearded man should not be allowed around customers.
Their website says breakfast served all day and at 10am they let us know they stopped serving breakfast. There was a sign on the door that says breakfast served till 11- which was wrong. The sign out front says they opened at 9am. That is concerning! And all the pastries were empty.

Came to visit Ruidoso for our honeymoon. Newly diagnosed celiac here, so very fearful of gluten-cross contamination. Theyre gluten free options let me eat a full meal! Finding a place like this is very difficult in my experience. Thank you!!!
Awful experience. I came with a large (approx 15) group of friends from out of town. I was extremely disappointed with the service we received. Per their website, breakfast is served all day. We arrived at 11:15 and the cashier (man with glasses and a beard) told us they were not serving breakfast burritos with eggs. He was extremely rude so we asked to speak with a manager. After showing the manager the website he agreed to make breakfast burritos with eggs but then the cashier began yelling at him and telling him he could ring up the order himself. It was the most unprofessional thing I’ve witnessed, since there were other customers in line too. Half of our party left and ate elsewhere. Expected much better service from a small business we were trying to support. The coffee orders were wrong multiple times and the food was bad. Very disappointing.
THIS IS WRONG!I am quite disappointed in the lack of care for their customers.My mom ordered breakfast and was served old bacon. She said it tasted off and asked us to taste it, and I almost puked when I tried it. She took the bacon up to the front and they knew it was bad! They said it smelled bad when they bought it raw but cooked it anyway and served it to their customers. This is absolutely wrong. I am pregnant and almost got the bacon burrito (I am so glad I didn’t). They need to take this seriously before they give someone food poisoning.
Great vibe, quick service, decent prices (seems to be on par for this remote-ish town). The spinach quiche was a great size and very flavorful! Kids meals of yogurt parfait were abundant. And it was great the accompanied fruit wasnt the standard cantaloupe.They host live music, open mic nights & movie nights. They also serve beer & wine. Will definitely be back for a meal other than breakfast.

We had a great time on the patio. It might have the best view in Ruidoso. The meal, dessert pastries, and craft beers were all great. They should advertise the bar more. We thought it was just a coffee shop but it was whole lot more.
Definitely stop here when in Ruidoso! It’s an absolute gem. Located right next to the river, there’s tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The iced coffees I got were a bit on the sweet side, but you can order with less flavor to suite your tastes. Good coffee, nice ambiance, and great food too! The quiche is incredible (especially the ham and rosemary quiche), as is the grilled cheese with apple, bacon, and green chiles. Yum!

Got the burrito with Bacon for breakfast and a blueberry, cream cheese tart /danish. They were both wonderful. We got there around 1030 on Sunday morning and it was pretty crowded. They ran out of Biscuits and gravy right when we got there.
Was excited to get a good local cup of coffee. Guess I may try again in the morning sometime. At around 3pm, my medium roast was burnt. Bummer.
Their cocktails are fantastic! Try the Whiskey Sour. You wont regret it.

Quick service and HUGE selection of teas.All the teas look to be loose leaf. They stuff a large tea bag full and brew it up for you. Theres a coffee bar and espresso as well. All the creams and sugars are self service.The decor is super groovy - cool metal light fixtures with a patina, leather and wood chairs, local art.. its pretty neat!Ill definitely come back.
Came from out of town with a group of 12 and called the day before as well as one hour beforehand. Website said that breakfast was served all day. Arrived at 11:15 am. Yelp menu was completely different than in-shop menu. The cashier (male with glasses and a beard) was extremely rude and refused to serve any breakfast burritos containing eggs. He rudely stated that the online menu is different. We expected to be accommodated as a large out of town party supporting a local business. Asked to speak to the manager who then agreed to make burritos containing eggs. The cashier started yelling at him and said “then you can do this yourself.” The experience was awful. Coffee orders were wrong. Food was not good. Overall terrible experience and customer service.
Sacred Grounds has delicious coffee and food options, great live music, a relaxing and spacious atmosphere, and scenic views. I personally recommend their cold brew coffee. There are separate spaces for individuals and small groups who want to sit and chat as well as large rooms for larger groups or individuals enjoying the live entertainment. There are three balconies each with unique views of the mountain scenery and the stream flowing behind the building. We actually watched deer grazing a short distance from where we were sitting. If youre in Ruidoso, you must visit Sacred Grounds and dont miss the gift shop in the Annex at Sacred Grounds next door to the coffee shop.
Despite calling ahead and making reservations, they failed to accommodate our large group of people (approximately 15 people). Although their website stated that breakfast is served all day, we were told that they stopped serving past 11 (somehow being tourists we were supposed to be aware their website was incorrect and outdated). Very disappointing and misleading seeing as how them serving breakfast was the only reason we chose this restaurant. One of the owners was willing to accommodate our group by serving breakfast as advertised, however, the cashier (with long beard) acted like a child by throwing a tantrum at the owner that was trying to be helpful and was completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they could not get any orders right even though most of our group ordered basic coffee. Very disappointing experience. Do not recommend.
I came here with a group of friends based off of the first thing their website says- “breakfast served all day”. We waited in line from 11:10 - 11:30 and went to order breakfast and was rudely told there was no breakfast after 11am other than what was on the written on the boards as specials.The cashier was extremely rude to our party and I asked to speak to a manager. The manager kindly agreed to make our party the breakfast burritos and asked the cashier to re ring our orders so we could get what we came for. The cashier proceeded to completely freak out telling the manager if he wanted to give us burritos he could re ring everything. Then, the manager found our orders, said it was already made and that there was nothing we could do. So, the burritos we were promised never actually happened.Everyone kept saying we can’t go off the website but for a town that people frequently vacation or take trips to as tourists the website is all we have to go off of. It’s a Saturday - what brunch place only serves breakfast options until 11?Also, the barista messed up an order of iced coffee and gave us an iced americano. When I said that it wasn’t what I ordered she said “it’s basically the same thing.” Obviously it’s not. I was able to get the iced coffee that I ordered but not without explicitly asking multiple times.The French toast was dry and legit 2 pieces of bread with powdered sugar. The hash browns were undercooked. Drink orders for the party were continuously messed up. And again, the cashier was the most rude person I’ve encountered in the service industry in a long time. No one apologized or remotely tried to rectify our bad experience after speaking with the manager.
This is a fantastic place to relax and recharge. They have delicious coffee and desserts. They have sandwiches and soup too. I reccomend the green chile stew, especially on a cold winter day. But their atmosphere and service are the star. What a nice place to unwind and sip something warm and nourishing.
Staff are rude, menus are not updated and there isn’t even a sign outside that says the name of what they are. Don’t bother going!
Although they have a good view for the balcony, the service takes forever (maybe 1/2 hour?) and was mismatched the time we visited. However, I thank them for the quick correction they did for my fathers order, and if youre vegetarian or vegan this may not be the best place to come, as they only have one option.The menu in general is not very large, and its best if youre not in a hurry or dont have much else to do. Maybe enjoying the landscape with a cup of coffee is the best option if anything. The food itself definitely needs some improvement (at least on the vegan option as aforementioned) and other side orders besides chips could also help.
The environment is so chill. When I went there were a couple of guys practicing guitar it was a nice experience. It also smells good as soon as you walk in. The cups are big more like bowls which is great to me. Had a slice of ombre blueberry cake which was so delicious and a London fog. They are other just a bakery they also had a full menu as well. Great place for lunch and to just relax

The coffee was wonderful. We had a caramel cinnamon latte and it was just right. We also had the breakfast burrito and it was pretty good. The view off the back patio was nice too. It was a little busy for a early afternoon, and took a little time to get our items but it was good. We will be sure to try it again when we return to Ruidoso.
Would have given 5 stars but they took the best chocolate chip cookies in the world off the menu. It is a crime. We always looked forward to the cookies when we came to town.
6yr old ordered gluten free breakfast, spent several hours throwing up, it was not gluten free. Beware! They are not aware of gluten free!!!
I would say the service was terrible but there really wasnt any service.. The business was slow in the afternoon, employees looked at you and ignored you. We left. Wont be back.
So rude. No customer service what so ever.Online they posted breakfast all day and when we got here with our group of 20 they told us it’s 15 minutes past breakfast. One owner said it’s ok serve them because we called them regarding our party size and confirming breakfast. The other owner who was taking our order started arguing with us and the other owner saying breakfast ended 20 minutes ago and we are not serving it. Half our party ordered here but the other half left to go somewhere else.Not a fan and for the price the food is ok.
Amazing coffee and tea house with that great Ruidoso mountain scenic ambience.....I have been traveling to Ruidoso for thirty years and I remember the original Sacred Grounds Coffee house. I cant believe it is only open Friday through Sunday! Wow! Makes it very inconvenient for tourist who are now coming back to have the Ruidoso experience, cant be good for business.

Love coming here. Must try the white tea ☕️ the chocolate brownie and the cider are our top picks.We sat there today for a few hours and it a great time. The only complaint we have was an older man in a cap yelling at the employees and being extremely rude to them. At one point he belched out “that’s why they pay me the big bucks” after he yelled and belittled an employee. It made my family and others around very uncomfortable. Anyway, other than that once he left we was wonderful.
If I could give a negative score I would.Walked in ... Wife and my father wanted coffee. A man working with a long beard refused to make any coffee with flavors. Only offered drip coffee with cream cups ... with no explanation either. I ended up seeing they closed soon. Regardless ... no explanation and he had a job to do. Also within store hours at the time.He ended up making drip coffee for us in small cups WITHOUT a lid. We ended up walking out.He was rude enough in the process to make my wife cry.And no ... we were not rude to him. The first thing that my father did when walking in was complementing his beard.I suggest finding a different place.This place was even recommended to us as we are visiting out of state.Very unfortunate.

Loved everything about this place! The atmosphere and service was great and they had live music this past Friday.The vegan burritos ($8) they made were huge but lacking flavor. The views and atmosphere made the food worth it though.They do have almond milk which is a huge plus!
My husband and I stopped into Sacred Grounds on our way through Ruidoso to White Sands. We’re on a big road trip through the southwestern United States, coming all the way from New Hampshire.We both got the simple “for here” coffee for $1, and got a few refills each—for free! Along with the coffee, we enjoyed a slice of their Lemon-Blueberry Yogurt Loaf. Delish!If you check this spot out, be on the lookout for a kind, older gentleman affectionately known as Carlos. He’s a regular who comes to the cafe every single day at 2:00pm—that’s one dedicated individual! He’s got the greatest stories, so grab a cup of coffee and sit back, taking it all in.The atmosphere is comfy and bright, perfect for work or leisure. Be sure to hit this place up if you’re visiting Ruidoso!
Great drinks. We tried several different coffees over a long weekend and they were all top notch. Walk to the back of the building and there is a staircase that takes you to at least 3 different outdoor levels with tables, overlooking the creek and making for a really nice place to relax and enjoy your drink. We shared the Cubano sandwich and it hit the spot. Very yummy. Will be back next time we are in town.
Delicious food and coffee!
This place has an awesome patio and great drinks. Given that their distillery is closed, this was a great place to try all the liquers. They even made some special cocktails that werent on the menu. Try the espresso liquer. Live music was also a lot of fun.
Two things you have to remember with small towns. There are two speeds. Slow, and none. Nobody is in a hurry and thats fine! You should not be in a hurry to do anything and just enjoy the town and people. Sacred grounds coffee is better than Starbucks. Get the cast iron skillet omelet, its super good. Susie, our waitress was by herself and gave us great service despite the large amount of people. We WILL be coming back. Good food, great coffee, friendly service. Full service is in the back two rooms. Front room is counter service. Cant believe we waited so long to come here.
Not open as mentioned in Google on Sunday. All local coffee shops are closed in the mornings except for Starbucks and that is its own mess. Bring your own coffee when bidding Ruidoso.
100% Recommended. The breakfast and coffee were delicious. The vibe in this location was relaxing. My family and I enjoyed every moment. We will be back!
Got a coffee and a London Fog and a toll house cookie pie. Everything was good plus there was live music on the patio. Beautiful way to spend A-day up here

Not fair of me to rate on one visit and on one espresso drink but I dont know if Ill ever go back. Negative one star for the espresso drink which was bitter and wrong temp and wrong ratio. 4 star for quick service and beautiful back deck. I rounded up.
If i could give this place 10 stars I would. Everything about is amazing. Leann is an angel i swear. She is the reason we keep coming back honestly. The food is great. And if you havent tried their Gin, you must. Its heaven. The food is great, service is great. They are short staffed so please be patient and kind. They are hard workers. Go! You wont be sorry.
This place was nice went there with my Son in law for coffee you can get a real cup or A paper cup they have two patios oneupper level and another one level down the there are steps that go go down to the river bank and get your feet wet the river right now is a small stream but very cool the pic was taken from the upper deck
This was our second trip to Ruidoso this year. We have tried over 5 times to come to Sacred Grounds and every single time it was closed. Never trying again.
A large group of us came to this morning because this place was highly recommend. I have never had such a horrible experience in my life. Upon arrival the line was long and they were out of menus so we had to wait 15 minutes to even look at the menu. Then when arriving the register they were out of two different breakfast meals that we intended to order. No apology was offered when we had to reconsider our order. After ordering our food, the drink that I order (espresso) took 20 mins to be ready and the self service coffee bar was out of creamer and coffee so you had to ask for the bar. It took 1 hour for us to receive our food. The staff did not seem to care about how awful this experience was. Also, they had trays of dirty dishes on a cart the entire two hours we were here. It was so surprise when they did not give us utensils with our meal. When we asked for utensils they gave us plastic utensils. The food was good but not worth the horrible customer service, lack of have goods that were promised on their menu, dirty dishes everywhere, etc. I will never return, nor will anyone in my party of 5. I do not recommend this establishment.
Worst bartender ever.
As soon as we walked in the customer service was bad. We were in ruidoso for a couple days and every place we visited was awesome everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The property its self was nice but the employees were rude there was a cook that kept going from the kitchen with no mask to a party of 6. I was informed that it was a law to wear a mask in ruidoso but this guy just walked all over the restaurant with no mask whatsoever on him. I seen a person fall down the stairs because they were so drunk. Such a un classy place with horrible customer serivce!
The view was the only good thing about our experience. When we arrived, there were no menus and this seemed to bewilder the staff. We eventually took one from another customer. The menus were marred to an almost unreadable state, but we managed to order a salad and a sandwich. We then waited for our order for 35 minutes. When it arrived, the salad (a wedge salad sans bacon) was a huge hunk of lettuce surrounded by some pecans and croutons. One slice of browned avocado was buried under said pecans. The lettuce was rusty. The cookie that came with our order was nowhere to be seen. When I took it back, the response was, “Well, what else do you want on it?” I went and found another menu from a table, pointed out the ingredients that had been left off, and gave my salad to the staff person who took it back with no apology. When he brought it back, it had several cherry tomatoes (3 of which were rotten) and a few grapes (not on the menu or requested) hastily thrown on. I was informed that they were out of hard boiled egg. At this point I took it to my table, noticed the rotten tomatoes, and decided just to return the whole thing. “Are you sure?” was the only response. I was never offered compensation. No one seemed to care. I called the manager when I left. She assured me she would speak to the kitchen and front wait staff. That was nice, but again no compensation was offered. I understand being out of ingredients, but that should be communicated upon ordering. I understand being busy, but if you know a bus load of people is coming for lunch from a sister property, it makes sense to close or inform your other guests. All in all, the lack of customer service sealed the deal for us. We will not be back.
We didn’t actually get to eat here. Unfortunately, we waited almost an hour until I just requested a refund since we were pretty hungry. The view was lovely so I was pretty bummed that we didn’t get to enjoy a meal there. They were prompt in getting us a refund- I’m sure they may have forgotten out order since others got there after us and still got their order.
While the atmosphere was nice, the food was a little lacking for what we paid. The pretzels were hard and cold. The pulled pork and brisket sliders were also cold. The other two meals were a little bit better, sausage and chicken salad sandwich. I would not come back to this place for food.
Nothing to eat here if you want to eat plant based/vegan.....
Good food and coffee. Quiche, burgers, sandwiches, pastries and burritos.
