I often experience uncomfortable things whether its in restaurants or grocery but I dont want to comment for me its normal. but this time I was faced with very bad staff. I shopped at Hikari on October 12 today around 10 and the staff service was very bad. I asked if there was a sale of salt and where I could find it, she replied, try to look at here, but I cant find it. and I asked again, she didnt care and just played her phone. I was curious and asked again the female staff replied that there was no salt. really the worst experience. If the product I asked for is not available, you just answer. Dont show your bad behavior!!!!!!

Very rude and inappropriate. The lady at the cashing register was just on her phone texting and didn’t even lift her head to serve us. She took her time to be done with her texting. When we told her that was not right she just talked back to us. Very rude and inappropriate. If you want Chinese anything go to the marketplace one at clay road. They are very nice, good price and carry variety things.

The customer services is not very good, especially if you are a non-Asian customer looking for Asian products. I was treated as if I were going in to steal something, but noticed they were very nice to other customers. Do not recommend because the customer service and the products are not adequate, for products there are not very fresh.

Everything in the store is packed in tight, but organized and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The best thing, the store is independent not worrying about greedy corporate chain prices. You get a feeling of customer satisfaction as soon as you walk in the door. The food and veggies are always fresh and kept in a fresh environment. I have a family of 6 I can go there and spend $70.00 on everything I need for the family. It is a gold mind in the rough everything from chop stix, cooking utensils, and all types of Chinese food. I dont think the store is over 1000 sq ft but they have enough in there to fill a 4000 sq ft building and still be packed. They organize with great detail. Just off the west Henrietta exit heading east just after it turns into Mt.Hope on the north side.

Its a cluttered and small store, and it has everything. You can find everything there. I love to purchase there, they have reasonable prices on fresh produce, and good stuff on the fridge - the grated coconut and the shredded manioc (its so difficult to find) are perfect for my cakes. Really love there.

Love this place, its like a hidden gem. Ive told a lot of my relatives wherethis place is. Very nice people that works here. They actually smile and interact with you. Not like the bigger Asian store in Henrietta, where they dont greet you or wish, you have a nice day when you leave.

Staff were very friendly. The prices are pretty low, managed to buy a couple of 4 packs of Mamee Ramen for under $4 a pack. They even have Japanese Kit Kats, although those are a bit expensive, but only because they had to pay a lot to import them. I got tired of the usual staples from other stores, I will be coming here every week :)

It is a small store with a lot of variety. Chinese, Japanese, along with some Korean varieties. Excellent and helpful customer service. Just ask if you can’t find anything! Fresh shipment comes in every Tuesday and Friday. So if you know when to go, Hikari will always have fresh greens! Prices are a lot better than Wegman and comparable to Walmart’s.

I have not had such rude treatment in a store in well over a decade. Seeking the Korean staple gochujang, which any asian grocery would dedicate feet of shelf space to, I was unable to locate it.I sought the assistance of the young cashier, the only staff member in the store. After walking up to find her incessantly texting on her phone, I waited nearly 3 minutes before she deigned to notice me. I asked for the location of the gochujang, only to be met by a blank stare. After asking again, she stated, show me picture.Fine. It took mere seconds to bring up a photograph of the characteristic red tub shared by most brands. But in the intervening ten seconds, shed reattached herself to her apparently engrossing texting. Another three minutes ensued in which she completely ignored me, despite having my phone, and an image of the item, thrust in her face. Finally, she looked up briefly, stated, come back tomorrow, and blanked me again.I have never said this about any store, but I shall never return. Asia Food Market, a mile south, had four brands of gochujang, including sizes from small tubs to quart-size, at very cheap prices, an attentive staff, and fast checkout. Many dusty items on the shelves looked to be ancient, though the limited produce on display at the front was obviously fresh, much of it still in its distribution bins. One could use this market as an illustration for how to lose control of inventory and alienate customers.

If youre searching for Korean snacks, it is a great place for you. They have a variety of Korean noodles so as other asian snacks. But if you really want authentic asian ingredients and snacks, this isnt the place for you. However you can find majority of the snacks and drinks in here. Lovely customer service and absolutely a nice place to walk around for awhile.

Its decent I guess but there isnt much variety and not many products. Also its very tiny and uncomfortable to move around. The owner is rude and also doesnt speak much english so cant help you find products. I say if youre an american that enjoys asian culture and food you should go somewhere else for your grocery, you will not be welcomed or helped.

Ive been going here for years. Good range of Asian food products at decent prices. They get a fresh produce delivery a couple times a week, and thats always worth stopping in for especially. The mushroom and baby bok choy are exceptional and inexpensive. They have a good selection of miso pastes, and lots of things like spicy bean paste and sesame oil at better prices than places like Wegmans. Theres an extensive freezer section of prepared foods, and asian delicacies-- some have english on the labels, some dont. Several years ago, the staff used to be a lot more helpful to us poor folks who only speak English-- but the past few times Ive gone, either the staff on hand didnt speak much English, or theyve decided theyd rather serve folks who speak their language, because the service hasnt been quite as warm as it used to be. That being said, if youre willing to poke around, and want to try authentic ingredients-- this is a market to check out.

They have green tea and strawberry kit Kats, mochi, bean buns, Yakult, chiclet, moon cakes, and every other food I ate when I was a child. On top of that, a decent but unpredictable stock of vegetables and a great fridge full of ready-to-cook dumplings and other yummy foods.

As others have said, its small, but it has everything I was always looking for. I am always buying Japanese food products to make Japanese food.... most places only sell Korean or Chinese items. This place has them. There is a special kind of salt/pepper in a single bottle that I always look for (and its made in Japan stuff - super delicous in ramen, on meat, whatever.. it works on it all)... and they have it. I always buy several bottles of it in fear that it wont be there anymroe. They certainly help me keep my pantry full. Now, for the bad part, sometimes the prices can be quite high as compared to being in Japan itself... but if youve never been there (Japan) then you have nothing for reference and might think this is normal. But, still not too high that it will detract me from making purchases here. As I said, they always have what Im looking for. Thank you Hikari for being here in Rochester!

Plus point of Hikari foods and groceries is that you can get green vegetables in a locality where you can hardly get such things but the vegetables are not fresh so you can go and buy when you really need vegetables and you have no option but to buy from Hikari. Price is comparable with that of Walmart.
