I have to take 2 stars away because I wanted a plain matcha latte and the server said they dont have it unsweetened? I was excited to go to a place that has matcha in its name but have to say Im a bit disappointed that they only have a matcha mix with sugar in it.We ended up ordering two items which did taste great
I think this place has very good matcha ice cream and tea. I’d say it’s not cheap, not even close to what it should cost, however I also understand that it’s in Waikiki.3 stars because like I said it’s got good ice cream, but the amount they give you is bit underwhelming. I don’t know,,, I’m used to when you twirl the ice cream, you still fill the center portion. This place, it’s hollow. LoL.
Wanted to order a vanilla-matcha soft serve on a cone, but they were all out of waffle cones. I ended up ordering a half-matcha, half-ube (special flavor) soft serve on a medium cup. It was great! The matcha was a little bit overpowering, but the ube was absolutely delicious. Definitely stop by for a quick snack to combat Honolulu’s heat.
Small shop with long lines. Usually only 1 person working front shop to create the the concoctions while 2-3 people are working back-shop prepping all the ingredients. However, wait is worth it. A little pricey but what you get is a dessert packed with matcha flavor and fresh topping ingredients. Good place for a matcha lover. Sizes are decent and shareable. Would recommend and go back again.
It’s so hard to find places that have great quality matcha, but this place is easily one of my new favorite places outside of Japan! Definitely visit this place if you’re in the Waikiki area! Matcha Stand Maiko is a little hidden behind a famous udon restaurant, but they definitely deserve a line just as long. Their menu offers a wide variety of ice cream, floats, shave ice, drinks, and a couple of other things as well. I got the float with matcha ice cream & it was delicious. Their cold treats are great to beat the heat with.
Yea we came last night for match cone and it was very good. It is simple and hit the point. Today we come again and tried shaved ice which is also very amazing.
Something different! Im personally not a huge fan of matcha, but at the time, I had never had it before. It was good, just not my thing. Staff is nice, and they have other, non matcha, options. Definitely something you should try at least once! If you like matcha, theres soo many things to try! I did go back and enjoyed what I got the second time. Their presentations are also beautiful, highly recommend ❤
Great matcha ice cream. When we went during October they had a limited time halloween matcha ube swirl!
I had never heard of Matcha but decided to give it a try. It was a little strong at first but the more I ate the better it got. Id probably try it again.
Tasty drinks but a bit pricey. Hojicha latte was very good, as was the jelly topping.
Ube flavor is awesome. But icecr am could be more creamy
Their matcha soft serve is very legit matcha. Not as sweet as other places serve it. Also tried their Ube flavor which was absolutely incredible.
Love this place. We were only here for 3 days and probably got 5 cups of their matcha ice cream. Sweet, friendly staff. They’re doing great for the high influx of customers they get by the minute. Long line, but usually goes fast. Highly recommend if you like matcha!
The ice cream is okay, the service is okay, and the location is great. Getting ice cream after having meal at Basalt is so convenient that only takes you 3 minutes to walk. It is also close to Marugame Udon, Konos, Taiya, and other famous restaurants so be prepared to eat. I had the ice cream in California and this place is on par, not better not worse. I wish they open a little bit later so other customers can try, too.
WARNING: Don not order any of their iced drinks.I ordered a large match latte float for $7.85 and received 3 cups of crushed ice and maybe a cup of actual match latte. What’s worse, I got less than a cup of the matcha ice cream on top.If you come here, stick with the waffle cone. For $5.50, you get much more matcha ice cream which is actually quite delicious.
You cant really go wrong with Matcha Cafe Maiko. Safe choice is always the matcha soft serve. Its always nice to try their limited edition or seasonal items, but there have been few misses including the pineapple shaved and Ube soft serve. The ube soft was kinda watery/icy, and not really creamy.I do enjoy the kamaaina discount and will be back from time to time.super long.
If youre in the mood for matcha, this is the place. Whether its ice cream, coffee, or shaved ice; they have it covered. If you havent tried matcha, this is where the addiction begins. They also dont take cash so have your card, phone, or smartwatch ready for payment.
Long line, but moves quickly. Kamaaina discount must show id. Decent size for the price in Waiks. Great service
You can never go wrong with #matcha.I love Matcha Stand Maiko❗❤My favorite thing to get is the Maiko Special. It includes matcha cream, matcha chiffon, chestnuts, and shiratama mochi; Its deliciously delightful. The mochi is so good with everything else thats included, it will leave you wanting more!Everything I tried was delicious!I cant wait to visit again!!
The mix soft serve (matcha & milk) is really good and very authentic! I could come here every day.
I ate 8 ice cream cone during my 5 day stay at Honolulu. Dont try it if you to want to gain weight, otherwise be prepared to come back and buy more. It is so delicious.
Absolutely delicious, visited this place 5 days in a row
Cute little cafe! Courteous & polite staff; quick service, yummy treat! Take your hotos quick though, the Hawaii heat melts it so fast!
I’d say this is the absolute best place for Japanese matcha soft serve. Delicious yet cream with a hint of bitterness from the authentic matcha. Ask for a stamp card because you’ll be back for sure.
Best place on the island for Macha soft serve ice cream. The menu is so extensive that you can come here a hundred times and not get the same thing twice. But I always stick with the classic matcha soft serve.Theyre open during lockdown with social distancing and for plastic dividers and spaces. The workers had face Shields and full masks.
This place is good for those that really love matcha! I wish I could give half stars as I would give it 4.5, only because the matcha seemed a little too overpowering... However my friend ordered the swirl and it was in fact delicious! So for those of you that are not in love with matcha, get the swirl!!!!
The matcha ice cream was very good! if you’re a fan of matcha, this place has many different drinks and sweets!
They have great matcha ice cream. The taste and color will tell you it is GOOD. Went on a Monday noon and no line at all.
The matcha ice cream is nasty stuff, but the vanilla, while more ice than cream, is good once you get used to it.
Went to this place while waiting in line for Marukame udon - we got the Matcha Special - I didn’t really like the corn flakes and thought it was confusing with the ingredients they put it... it was like a fusion of Japanese and cheap American cereals.
We have a matcha maiko at home in DC area, but had to give the original a try while we were in town. Ordered the matcha shaved ice which is refreshing on a hot afternoon. A nice difference from all the other overly sweet shaved ice options. The toppings are all a wonderful addition (mochi balls perfectly chewy, red bean the right texture and sweetness). And of course cant forget the delicious green tea soft serve on top.
Love the matcha creations from this place. It is very expensive sadly…
Just a great spot for dessert! The matcha Maiko special is full of delicious surprises. Will come back for more!
The best matcha soft serve I have ever had in North America!! Very delicious especially I ate it in Hawaii in a hot weather. Also they put some matcha powder on top of the soft serve. They were pretty generous. We had matcha soft serve or icecream at other places in North America, but we did not have the matcha powder that went with it. Good matcha powder can be expensive. This Japanese matcha dessert place definitely targets Asians. There are a couple of tables and chairs outside the shop that people can buy the desserts, sit and enjoy.I would highly recommend this place if you love match desserts and drinks.
Good matcha flavored ice cream. The matcha was pretty strong though so it keeps you up at night. Lol. Enjoy!
This is a small shop close to Marukame Udon. A good dessert once youre finished eating udon. They have different varieties of soft serve. I usually just get their matcha, but they also have vanilla and a swirl of both. The soft serve is very tasty with a deep matcha flavor. Since theres usually one person in the front, you would probably be waiting for a long time to order and get your soft serve, so be prepared for that.
Best Matcha Ive ever tried
Fast service and great menu
Their premium matcha is one of the best Ive tried on the island!
Uji matcha ice cream cone was so delicious and authentic. If you have a Hawaiian state ID card, you can get 10% off.
Small matcha drink/dessert stand across from the International Market.I got the ice lemon matcha tea and I wasn’t very sweet, which I prefer. They are popular for their soft serve, matcha, vanilla, or mix. One of their hot item is the Maiko special, which is soft serve with a variety of toppings like red bean, matcha cake, jello, and mochi.
As a matcha-lover, I was blown away by how delicious the Matcha Shaved Ice was. The shiratamas were super fun to chew on the matcha that melted in your mouth will have you in tears. Not only was the food great, I was served quickly and I was super impressed by how friendly the cashier was. I didnt see a tip option in the machine so I pulled out some change out of my pocket and asked where the tip jar was, and the girl just said to not worry about it and come back next time. You bet Ill be coming back every time I visit Waikiki from now on. 5/5
I was in a line at an Udon place and I noticed this small cafe. Didnt seem great to me at first glance but when I tried their matcha green tea icecream....it was the best day of my life. I am usually not a fan of icecreams because they are too sweet. But this icecream has the perfect sweetness and the flavour of matcha just kills you. If you go to Honululu...this is a MUST TRY.PS: I still keep dreaming of that icecream even now. Hopefully I get a chance to visit Oahu again someday.
Ice cream is good and special
