Decided to stop by while waiting for a table at the nearby Roosevelt Room and had a very relaxing time.The vibe inside is definitely coffee shop first, bar second, and overall fairly chill. The seating space inside was large and accommodating, and drink service was very fast.I particularly liked the wall of liquors behind the bar, with a respectable selection regardless of where you go, and very respectable when considering the coffee shop environment.Id recommend stopping by!

I liked that this place had a lot of available tables with power outlets. It feels a little grimey to me, though. Coffee was fine but only one size. Pastry selection not great.

The real bad experience one could have just by seeing the outer appearance, I am sure would never come back here, just got betrayed by the name as was looking for coffee.The wait was real long for just coffees, secondly as waiting for the coffees went to the washroom the washroom which is not clean could have the worst and the upbeat kitchen ever. Just wonder their food how would it look after seeing the pictures uploaded.Their coffee was just a a regular one didn’t even taste well. Would never come back again.

The staff was so friendly that I hate giving this rating.I came in early in the morning. I liked the idea of an early drink with breakfast, but decided on orange juice. Came from a carton probably used for screw drivers.Ordered a grilled cheese that was veggie. For the price, Id want a nice big sandwich.The bread was flimsy thin or overly pressed. Not sure what the cheese selection was, but it did the bread no favors.If you want a full bar with your 7am breakfast, I know few other options currently. If you want a great breakfast, Id steer away.

The place I good spacious inside and also they have tables outside incase you want to enjoy.The service is quick.They do have coffee and cocktails and other drinks too.Also incase you are going post midnight their kitchen is closed but you can still get some muffins.A good place to sit and relax during non peak hours.

I love the atmosphere and it’s the perfect place to work on my laptop. Though workers dont know how to make coffee or maybe have the Cheapest coffee there. Man restroom looks like a trash place, seems like nobody is clean there for a few weeks. The table was very sticky, my laptop literary stuck to the table( not sure if they do not clean them or it just the table

Stopped here for a *great* espresso martini and heard some wonderful music by an artist named Everett. Issue is that the lighting is wacky and the tables should be better positioned - maybe out the couches by the performer? Overall great potential.

Amazing time with my drag queen friends from San Antonio and my friends from Austin for their Saturday Brunch. I have ideas for service improvements but over all had a good time.

Some major wins, but also drawbacks for this place. So first, it’s a Saturday afternoon and I saw this placed had amazing reviews so my group and I were excited to try it! When walking up, it sounded like some karaoke was going on and we were pretty excited about it! The line was rather long, but hey, I’ll wait for some good coffee. Well there was maybe 2 or 3 bachelorette parties going on and in the time we were there, maybe 3 drag queens had come out and did some performances. One of them shooed me from the line because I was “in the way” but I really didn’t have anywhere to go so I just moved closer to the cashier and the customer in front of me. While we were waiting on our drinks, I looked up what people had said about the place and mainly everyone said it was a great (quiet) place to study and what kinds of coffee to try. It definitely was an experience, and the chocolate espresso martini was great, but the time it took to order, get the drinks, and how we were kind of pushed from the line made everything else way “okay.” I’ll have to come another time and see what it’s like on a regular day.

Place is absolutely disgusting. Bunch of young men working that have no clue about cleanliness or customer service. Tables not cleaned. Bathrooms were disgusting. Felt like a dirty college bar. Pastries look weeks old. Staff unfriendly and forgetful. There’s a million coffee shops downtown, pick any other one and you’ll be better off. You’ve been warned.

Came for an event. Performers were everything! Staff, not so much. We had purchased seat reservations and when we arrived a staff member informed us there was a glitch in the system and they couldn’t reserve seats so it was a free for all when it came to tables. I would’ve appreciated a call about that: otherwise, if we had arrived later, we would have been without a table! Which is fine, but we paid for one? Also, was promised two free mimosas and only received one (left before event was over, but 2nd mimosa was supposed to be given at intermission). As mentioned, performers were amazing and beautiful. Staff needs to be more friendly and informative!

Normally love this place on the weekends. Staff is always super awesome and friendly, but went for the first time on a Wednesday and had the worst experience. The cashier was very dismissive and didn’t seem to want to be there or help us. Further, the bartender would leave when he was the only one there and not make drinks. When he returned I asked for my drink and he responded that he already made it and then accused my friends of taking it, so I should ask them. He finally said he would remake it and continued to stand there, read the book of recipes for drinks, make others drinks, take others orders and never made my drink. When I finally just asked for a refund from the cashier he said the manager has to approve it. The bartender who accused my friends and didn’t want to make my drink WAS the manager.I get it when it’s busy, but other than the six friends I was with there were 3 other people at Halcyon. Again, this is NOT the typical service they have but I was so blown away so DO NOT go to halcyon during the week.

Quite an eclectic place especially in the evening. Its perfect place to work and sip coffee during day time and swing your mood in the evening with live music and good food.

The coffee was better than most. The live music also stood out. Not sure how often that happens, but theres outdoor seating if you dont want to hear it. Great location.

So this place has been here for ever I feel & it looks it. The place could use a little polishing up. The first tasted pretty good and strong the second one I dont think the person knew how to make it. It tasted like regular Iced coffee. A $10 Iced coffee 😏Hubby ordered an old fashioned with brandy he said it was pretty good.He also ordered a sandwich with a bag of potato chips.They have cute little smores kit if you want to have an interactive kind of experience.Ive been to their newer location and have to say its cozier here but a little less polished if you dont mind that than make sure to stop in

Came in for the first time yesterday and had a great first experience. The bartender (I didnt catch her name) was super friendly to everyone, and my drink was the best Id had from any coffee shop in quite some time. Definitely returning soon.

I came to this bar with my boyfriend and our two friends. We were waiting in line inside (on May 15, 2021- Saturday night around midnight) and an employee wearing a hat walked up and told us we would not be served. He said it was because I was too drunk and was swaying. I figured I was turned away for putting in eye drops while in line for my severe allergies (maybe he mistook for someone who had smoked prior but that was not the case). Ive never felt more insulted or more misunderstood by a business in my life. To be honest, Ive worked retail and have never even written a negative review in my life because I know how it can affect a business but to be turned away for nothing was infuriating. I was not too drunk nor was I swaying. This guy may have been mistaken or maybe even was just insulted by our presence but I would not recommend. To be honest, Im sad I even had this experience, it was incredibly upsetting and insulting. I wish I could get an apology.

Came here for their campfire smores was awesome! Its a fairly relaxed place thats quasi self serve. You pick up your drinks after you order it but if you have food they bring it out (we came at night, not sure if its similar during the day). Also, if itd windy outside, youll need to sit indoors for the smores. Drinks are great, would love to come back for their coffee.

Love Halcyon, their coffee and drinks are excellent. But I give it 3 stars for cleanliness. Only about 3 people in the Cafe when I was there, but all of the tables were sticky and I didnt see anyone wiping anything down.

I’ve been a happy guest here for 5 years going on 6. The many memories I have here are heartfelt. The staff is always nice and polite. They work very very hard. Although it’s nice to be back from the covid pandemic, that means they’re back to crazy chaos. I can’t imagine all that they go through dealing with heavy crowds, drunk people, etc. with places opening again I can imagine the crowds being much larger than before. I just want to commend the staff for being great. Especially a manager I got to meet the other night. I might not be spelling her name right. Somewhere along the lines of aerie? Arhea? Something that sounds similar. She has red and black hair I believe. Point being, she’s a phenomenal manager who goes out of her way to take care of her guests and staff. If something isn’t right, she will make up for it. She wants her guests to be happy and enjoy their time. Given that it may be stressful at times, I’m sure it’s very rewarding to work there given the amazing vibe and atmosphere. Opportunities for music nights, comedy nights, movie nights, any and everything, this place is my absolute favorite place in town.

Below average. My brother and I asked for a mocha frappe and they were out????Judging by the reviews and the restrooms, workers are probably just lazy.

I am not quite sure where and how all those 5 stars reviews were arrived at. Maybe people stumble into this place drunk or on drugs. The attitude was rude from entering the place. They made a mistake with our order, rather than being gracious, our server curt, and rude. There are too many other places in this town. Would definitely not give it another chance.I rarely write bad reviews, but THEY EARNED IT.

They say they close at 2 AM but both times I went they closed earlier to their taste and werent really acknowledging that Google maps said otherwise. But besides the attitude received over the phone before my second visit regarding closing time, its a really nice spot.

Went here while visiting Austin and it is a perfect place to hangout when you want to take it easy. Seats are comfy and is great environment to drink Coffee or Beer and listen to some live music.

And on and on! Some will say a themed cyber cafe is a bit much in 2020, but I think it’s fun. And I love Hackers, one of my all time favorite movies. When zero cool finally gets the bad guy!! (No spoilers). I thought they would be playing the whole Hackers sound track, but they were actually just looping the Orbital song. Try the special Acid Burn croissant!

Halcyon has gotten super expensive and is /very/ dirty. owners should give their staff a living wage with health care benefits so theyll want to put effort into their job (theyre probably rude bc theyre underpaid, so i dont blame them).skip halcyon and try cuatro gato down the block for better drinks and cocktails.

Its a very nice place, the music I liked, the food was rich, theres a lot of variety of things on the menu. It is highly recommended to be accompanied by your partner, because the place is romantic. You can also go with friends and play different games.

My friend and I were surprised to find we couldn’t make small changes to our orders. I got a Thai iced coffee and asked for a single shot but the barista said that wasn’t possible. When I asked the barista if he could add milk to it because it tasted too strong he agreed but acted very annoyed. That was today at noon and it’s now 6pm and I still have a bad tummy ache 😩. I rarely write bad reviews but I genuinely don’t feel good. With coffee, we should remember people have different tolerance levels and Batista sass doesn’t help.

I gave it 5 stars ⭐️ but the internet is less than fast. Vibe is super cool. They have beer 🍺, great coffee ☕️ and some cool lounge 🛋 areas! Additionally they serve food 🥘 and have outdoor seating 💺! Good place for people watching and yes better than Starbucks, which I love!

I like it very much i will go back for some drinks but so far maybe the employee could act a little bit to non regular customers and they would have a lot more regular traffic going in there or just going through there and having a little something of kindness and courtesy and after talking to the customer there i told and informed that just how the employee treats the non regular but the people that where at the shop i had great conversations and because of that i will gave the shop a 2nd chance to impress me hopefully they will start treating the non regular customers better as soon as they readThis is not negative it just feedback so they can have a better understanding of what is not said and so they can better make changes to themselves on a personal level

I got tickets for the Saturday drag brunch and for personal reasons my trip got canceled. I tried reaching them for a whole week about the refund status on eventbrite and nobody picks the phone/ answer emails.

Great coffee joint in downtown Austin with an excellent vibe. They also serve some cool alcoholic beverages too.. just havent had a chance to check them out yet.

Probably one of the most well known coffee shops down town, halcyon offers a cozy and relaxes environment, good sandwiches, and friendly service. If you’re not in the mood for tea or coffee, pick a cocktail or your favorite spirit from their full bar. They also sell cigarettes. Order the roasted marshmallows for that special date night touch.

Nice place, coffee was a bit too strong but still tasty. Loved the ambience and the view. We were on a weekday at 5 and there werent many people at that our so we enjoyed a quiet afternoon coffee

Overpriced & loud mediocre music. Thai coffee was watery and just had a big puddle of condensed milk at the bottom. But cool enough place.

Got a simple order wrong! Asked for regular iced coffee with a splash of cream. Instead, was charged for cold brew with way way too much cream, more like a latte. The place is not that clean. The bathroom was disgusting.

While visiting Austin for the 2019 COTA F1 race, I stopped here with a friend to grab a drink that our Lyft driver told us about. Its a Long Island Iced Coffee. Very unique, very strong, and worth trying if you are a regular coffee drinker.

Very chill vibe and good service, highly recommend their craft beers and Moscow mule!

Great place for Coffee, Cocktails, and chatting. Good food and service. They also have a humidor. Outdoor seating as well. Couches for relaxing and tables for working. Ive spent a lot of time here.

My girlfriend and I used to love coming here, but the staff has changed and the vibe is very unwelcoming of outsiders. We sat at the bar for ten minutes waiting for alcohol service (naturally) and all of the bartenders avoided eye contact and didn’t simply tell us that we are supposed to order alcohol at the counter. Would have been nice to know this considering that’s how the place used to be...We then ordered a beer and a champagne drink with a quesadilla and nothing was presented for over 15 minutes. When my girlfriend kindly asked if our order was on its way, one of the bartenders said they are working on it and immediately got our drinks and said they are working on our quesadilla...they clearly forgot our order. In the mean time, friends of the bartenders were ordering at the bar and getting served minutes after. This is just straight up rude. Just an all around unfriendly vibe we got and we ended up having to move to a table because of how uncomfortable the bartenders made us. We will come back again, but this experience was very unfortunate and left a very bad taste in our mouths.

I LOVED Halcyon. My sister, friend and I went here by accident, as our partners were next door watching a basketball game. We saw people eating Smores in the window and had to stop. I love the idea of spiked coffee drinks, wine, and a late night dessert. We sat at a couch section and I could have stayed here all night. Get the chocolate espresso martini!

Cool little coffee shop.

Stopped by last night for a couple of drinks. First off, the bartender didn’t want to be there. I never have seen someone make a margarita so sloppy. He seems so confused while making a margarita. He was also taking abnormally long, to make a drink. The final straw was him dropping a lime he’d just squeezed on the bar and then throwing it in the margarita. Honestly, this guy didn’t look like the most sanitary person, which was also an issue. We were so displeased so we just left. He never even finished the drinks. We were there for 5 mins. The other guy, Ryan, then comes chasing after us threatening to call the cops on us for stealing. He was way too aggressive over drinks they never got to even serve because of their poor service. Also...their deserts are overpriced and not worth it. I had an employee once tell me that themselves.

It used to be a good place with the previous staff...speaking about at least 3years ago. Too bad it’s not the same anymore, very slow service, not very welcoming, no smile..you feel like you’re doing them a service for been there and on top of all that the homeless situation so if you’re sitting at the patio be prepared to answer homeless questions more than enjoying a conversation and a drink.

They need to be more consistent with their hours posted. 3 out of 4 times that I’ve come by on Saturday morning around 10:00am they have been closed, even though the hours say open. The time that we did get in the baristas weren’t very helpful. I would recommend walking over to Jo’s instead. (Or to the Halycon in San Antonio!)

I was hopeful they had coconut milk but no. I ordered two coffees and a breakfast burritos. The coffees took twelve minutes and was cold. The burritos finally arrived after finishing our coffee which was a disappointment. We sat outside and the patio was full of cigarette butts. Slow service yet friendly. The food was delicious and the coffee not so much.

Seriously this place is masquerading a coffee shop. I chose this place from the reviews and looked forward to take my date here. Bought a latte and a breve which I was very disappointed. Both were warm and temps were very different. So this tells me they do not use a thermometer while steaming the milk. Did not taste the flavor in the latte and barely could taste it in the breve. I could have made this coffee by heating milk up and adding Folgers. This coffee shop makes Starbucks look amazing.

Halcyon is honestly one of my favorite bars/coffee spots in Austin. They are open right now during co vid with social distancing and mask requirements.I always take friends from out of town here. They have a very large variety of hot and cold beverages (even Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee). A great place to go alone or with a group of friends.

The bartender, Brandy, was top notch!

The menus are not up to date (they don’t have mimosa flights, which is what we came for), the service is slow, and our order was rang up incorrectly. After 15 minutes we had to ask for our drink to be made because no one had started them (they were making other customers drinks though). They only made three of the four drinks, so we had to ask and wait for the fourth. Our food took a very long time to come out and part of the order was missing, so we had to wait even longer for that to be made. We will not be returning.

This is not a specialty coffee spot and it should stop showing up as one. Great service but no single origin beans, and no pour over available when I went. Im sure they are great, but mis-classified IMO
