Very good food, good prices compared to another bagel shop down the road. Plenty of parking and tables to sit, and very quick service from order to prepared cooked food. But I like the other shops bagels better.

Taylor ham, egg, and cheese? Look no further, this place will put you taste buds on 10. You know you are eating food, but the back of your brain may question if you are having a cosmic explosion of the first creation. Dramatic? Maybe. But try it out if you get a chance.

Ew. This was just this morning. My husband and I went here (for the first time) as I’ve been craving lox spread. Husband went in, got our bagels to go and two cups of coffee. Husband got in the car, I opened my container, took a bite and I tasted it right away - mold. Their lox spread is old. I opened my bagel and saw it right away - moldy pieces of salmon - so obvious - the color, smell, and obviously the taste. So gross. Not even toasted as asked. Husband got a sesame bagel with butter, so that’s what we both ended up eating. Sesame bagel was stale - and there was barely butter spread. Funny thing is there was a long line and seemed like people were big fans. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess we just got super unlucky? Nevertheless, they should check their spreads and bagels; and we won’t be going back.P.S.Thought coffee would at least be good - but nope. Even coffee’s below par.

I paid 6$ for 2 realy thin slices of Taylor ham and 1 egg.They limited the amount of meat like it was bacon.The products less than HALF THE PRICE of bacon! Thats like selling me small slices of hot dog at the cost of a Ribeye Steak.I am never going back. I cant stand people who try and get away with the bare minimum, then charge a premium. .

Ordered a basic turkey wrap lettuce, tomato, light on Mayo yesterday. They charged me for tomato but didn’t put it in the wrap, instead I found random pieces of bacon tons of Mayo and 2 short pieces of BLACK HAIR.

Likely the best bagels in New Jersey! When I take them to work everyone asks where they are from.You need to try a Dutch Sandwich (an egg and cheese type sandwich) on an everything bagel.But PLEASE know what you want when you get to the counter....limited tolerance for indecision! :)

Varied menu, lots of seating, and obviously the food is good bc the place is packed! I like that they have a separate line for items not made to order.Lots of smoked fish like in the old-school deli. Would return for Boars Head meats and smoked fish!

My go to bagel place when I’m home - it truly makes home feel like home . Can’t go wrong with a fresh & toasted Everything Bagel w/ cream cheese !Great spot to catch up with friends too !Only downside is the staff on 75% of my visits have been short/ impatient / rude to me and other patrons ... don’t expect to schmooze or take your time ordering

My love for the Bagel Chateau runs DEEP. I’ve been going here since the 90s or so, and some faves are a mish mosh bagel with either olive cream cheese OR hummus. Their crumb cake is also to DIE FOR, and the American cheese omelettes are also great.Pro Tip: You can buy their (super sturdy) coffee mugs! Circa 2000, they were $5, and I’m sure they’re not much more now.

Cant say enough good about this Westfield staple. Theyve been here since as long as I can remember and you really cant go wrong with anything. I had a tuna salad on a whole wheat everything with a piece of amazing pound cake. It was like heaven made a pit stop in my mouth. Do yourself a favor and go here. Now.

Used to be my favorite bagel place. I travel across 2 towns to go there. Ive been going there since my kids were young and they now have kids of their own. However, I will NEVER set foot in there again after how I was treated this past Thursday.After attending a funeral, I stopped to pick up lunch for my family. There were 3 people ahead of me. After waiting on the person in front of me, the guy taking the orders just never came back. I figured maybe they needed to catch up and waited patiently for someone to take my order. No one even acknowledged me.Several minutes later, an older couple came in and stood next to me to place an order. The guy immediately started to take their order and I said that I had been waiting and was next. The woman apologized and told the guy that I was there before them. He still refused to take my order and told them to give him their order. After taking their order, he continued to ignore me.Now, almost in tears, I said loudly that I had been very patient and was there a reason why no one would take my order? Finally a different guy came over and took it. I never found out why the first guy - the short, round-headed Spanish guy, continued to purposely ignore me.As much as this has been my favorite bagel place, I will not be back. I do not need to be treated this way and I did not even receive an explanation, let alone an apology.

As a long time local resident I have made B. Chat my eatery of choice many a time over the years and I am disappointed to have to say that I feel the experience has changed.I remember many weekends when I would walk out of the establishment feeling satisfied. Now I feel that I need a second breakfast to satisfy my hunger after my first (Im not the biggest person, either!).Over time I feel that the bagels themselves have not only shrunk in size but also decreased in quality. In addition, the amount of breakfast and lunch meat you are offered in your order has been reduced. I remember that once you established yourself as a frequent customer the staff was generous enough to give you a little bit extra. Now it feels as if they only give you enough to fill your plate.I understand that over time prices change, business becomes more competitive and therefore prices must rise but when the price tag does not justify the quality or quantity there still exists an issue.One of my personal grievances relates to the staff, specifically the woman who has been placed behind the counter for the past few years. I find her overall demeanor very unwelcoming. She makes it very clear that she is not interested in working the register or dealing with customers nor does she put any effort into enunciating her words. I would really appreciate it if they gave the position to another more welcoming individual.Aside from these grievances I feel that a good cleansing of the overall interior would really brighten the place up, again. I do not wish to move on nor for the business to close, but I do miss the old atmosphere.

Terrible they need to learn how to read. Delivery order every item missing or wrong. Bangles are like cardboard. Time to go back to school and learn how to make and serve real quality food.

Just a heads up to everyone that Bagel Chateau says, in an effort to offset the escalating cost of credit/ debit fees they will be adding a 3.5% transaction charge fee added to ALL sales. They will gladly waive this fee for cash transactions. The scrambled eggs, mozzarella and provolone cheese bagel tasted okay.

Update: after ordering here a few more times, have had excellent food! Cream cheeses are still the best ever.Old review: We ordered from here today, two bagels with cream cheese, potato salad, and a taylor ham and egg sandwich medium egg, salt pepper ketchup, extra-toasted bagel with NO cheese. We have the receipt that came with the bag that verifies this is what was ordered. Order arrived--chips that came with the cold bagels were stale, potato salad tasted off, and the THE bagel, among being untoasted, having no salt pepper ketchup, with a fried egg, had a bunch of cheese melted on it--rendering it inedible for my husband.No real recourse to be had after ordering through Doordash apparently. Mistakes happen but it really sucks to pay extra to have food delivered only for it to be so completely wrong that it cant be eaten. Wont be ordering from here again.P.S. on a happier note, while the cold bagels werent the freshest Ive ever had, the cream cheese (herb and garlic, and the scallion) were on point.

As far as bagel places go, this is the best in the area. Bagels are fresh, the selection of cream cheeses is huge. The only thing I would say is lacking is the coffee options, if they could jazz that up a bit, they would crush the competition.

The Nova platter is still as good as in the 1990s. Same great service.

I am a frequent customer and I love the food. One issue that I have with this place is how the guys mistreat Jessica the cashier. She is very sweet and kind. The owner should really pay more attention how the guys treat her. This happens every time Im there. I always witness how they treat her and the things they say to her. Please fix this issue. We are in 2019 and many people understand the Spanish language.

Best bagels in the area. Very popular on a weekend morning. They have two lines, one for just bagels and the other for sandwiches. Again, lines can get long but they have a lot of people behind the counter to keep things moving. They lose a star for charging more if you use a credit card.

Excellent! We go every Sunday morning for breakfast. Good selection of bagels. Eggs anyway you want them, potatoes and bacon are good. Coffee is great. The layout of the place makes the lines confusing when they are busy, but you deal with it.

Bigger inside than out. Fast paced local atmosphere. A bit overwhelming for a first timer, unclear where to be, where’s the lines start and end, how to order. A very friendly fellow patron showed me the ropes thankfully and it was smooth sailing. Clean, fresh and well prepped food. Excellent bagels, cream cheese was over the top. My husband had a bagel with egg and sausage. Usually he ends up tossing the eggs when we are out but he actually loved it. Drinks from coolers, or coffee carrafes mostly, good selection. I can’t wait to go again and try some more of your cream cheese concoctions. Nice place!

Taylor ham egg and cheese had NO TAYLOR HAM. They get flustered easily with a lot of people. Its a shame such a staple in the community has been on the decline for years. :(

4% transaction fee on top of their attitudes!Been going here for years. The bagels are good, not great, and its pretty hard to screw up eggs/bacon/pork roll etc.... but this morning I realized they sneak in a 4% transaction charge on your total including tax! Really?! Clark bagels much better and Manhattan bagels even a step up and neither hits you with sneaky charges. Not the way to do business... certainly wont go here again!

Food is OK. Cooks work very fast however, they charge a 3 1/2% fee for using debit or credit. Most places give you a discount for using cash but the bagel château has you pay for their merchant fees.

Ive been going to Bagel Chateau for 27 years. It has never let me down. Fantastic and consistent food for as long as Ive been going.

So, I entered the bagel chateau with 2 blonde women in front of me; they held the door open for me. In line behind them, the man behind the counter immediately took their order. He walked and did not acknowledge me. He spent 2 minutes talking to anothe male employee next to him; still ignoring me. I leaned over the counter and tried to get his attention. The man continued to ignore my presence. I could not believe what was going on. I stepped back and watched everyone. There were 4 men behind the counter whom looked at me waiting to order; they never acknowledged me. Now, the women have paid for their meal, sat down. 4 minutes later, the man who took their order; with his head down, called next in line, then looked at me. I just could not find myself giving my money to anyone who mistreated as they did. I cant help but thinking if I was white like these women who walked in ahead. This would not happen.

This place is a bunch of con artists!!!I ordered a bagel with lox and cream cheese and I asked them to put some extra lox on it because they dont put enough on, so they charged me $17 and it still didnt have enough lox on it!!! What a bunch of crooks. One lox bagel, one bagel with eggs and cheese (they only put one egg in it by the way those cheep basters), and a dozen bagels costs me $40. And they arent even that good. Why is this place even crowded on the weekends? I rather just drive an extra mile and get a good tasting bagel at a reasonable price.This is actually the first review I ever wrote in my life, that is how much I hate crooks. I hope a good bagel store opens up in town so they go out of business.

This is a very average bagel shop. The bagels are good not great. The bagel sandwiches dont have much on them but they are tasty. The coffee is ok. Thats the pattern. Everything is just ok. I cant understand why this place is so busy except for convenience.

There is a seating area, though not large, its more than most bagel shops.I live in Texas but everytime I visit Jersey I drop by the Bagel Chateau. This time I took 2 dozen home with me. They are not nearly as delicious after a week in the freezer.
