Strang Automotive is by far the most honest and fair repair shop in Lake County. Every time I bring my car in, Ive been given a loaner car at zero charge. Highly recommended.

Im glad I found Strang Automotive. They did a great job on my wifes car. I took my own car there too be worked on. Mike and Chris were both professional and kept me informed on the status of the repairs. Their shop was so organized and clean, thats very rare. Service was great, I highly recommend them.

These guys are excellent at figuring out the tough problems. I had various intermittent problems over the past year that no one could seem to diagnose. Several parts had been swapped out over the year, all with no success. Bob at Strang figured it out quickly (saving me diagnostic charges) and was able to execute a custom repair which saved me quite a bit of money over the cost of replacing the faulty electrical parts with new. I highly recommend Strang and will certainly use them again!

A fine group of experienced, long established mechanics who seem to work together well as a team. Their work is always outstanding. They are respectful, professional, courteous. They have provided a loaner car while working on my car. And, this morning, a few days after they’d worked on my car, they texted me asking if if the car is running well and if I’m satisfied with their work. How great is that. This auto shop team is one of the best I have ever experienced. Oh, and they also alerted me what to expect will be needed for the car in the near future. And, they gave me options what to do now, which were most financially feasible for me. Easy 5 stars.

Strang Automotive has been service my cars and classic cars for years! There is no other repair shop that I can trust as a one stop shop for my everyday driver and our multiple classics we have had over the years. Bob takes great care in bringing my classics back to life. Brian is the only one to trust with my new (2018-2021) cars. Both mechanics are so capable they have been able to diagnose the most complex problems with my cars. Kris in the main office is one of the most honest guys I know. He gives it to you straight, no BS. And is able to break down the situation to explain it so I understand exactly what is happening. When I owned a Checker, Strang was the only place willing to work on it as a.normal vehicle. When replacing the transmission fluid they drilled and tapped a drain hole at the back so the entire transmission could be drained and all metal filing removed. Few shops would bother with tbat kind of attention to maintenance.I spent several trips and way too much money at a Dodge dealership in Gurnee to keep my 2008 Chrysler Town and Country running. Every time I left the dealership there seemed to be more wrong. I took it to Strang and found that not only had some of the work I had paid for was not done, but some of it had been done so incorrectly (wrong sized gaskets and installed so incorrectly it caused major leaks) that I was appalled. Rather than just saying they would redo it and charge me more they suggested I take it back to the dealership with their analysis and demand it be done correctly, saving me money.Several days ago my Town & Country wouldnt start. I brought it to Strang and asked them to check the starter and told them I am planning a trip of some distance this Summer and asked Strang to check the vehicle and fix its problems so I can drive a distance safely or advise me about the probable need to purchase a new vehicle. They looked it over thoroughly and, I suspect, that due to the shoddy maintenance the dealership has provided, found what needed to be done to bring my T&C back to health would not be worth the value I had in it. Rather than charge me for their time they told me the starter was fine, not needing replacement, but suggested the money needed for repairs to make the car safe to travel long distances would better spent on a new vehicle.Their honest and ethical assessment is what I have come to expect from Strang and their expert staff. I cannot recommend them strongly enough, especially for older vehicles without warrantees.

What a great mechanic shop! Took my pride and joy hotrod in and had Bob work on it. I was having fuel issues and Bob tunes it up has it running like a champ! Strang got my roadster in within a week of calling to setup an appointment during the prime time months of the summer when all of the other local shops couldnt even tell me a date or time when they would be able to check out my rig. Probably one of the best kept secrets in Waukegan. Fair prices and on time repairs. Plus if they let you borrow the white Buick cause you have to leave your car for the day. Its a beast

I can not say enough great things about this shop. Bob is just absolutely AMAZING!!! he is the kindest man i have ever met who truly cares about his customers and goes above and beyond for them! He is currently working on my 64 Dodge Dart GT and is doing incredible work. He keeps my husband and I updated through out the whole process of restoring our car. He caught wind of some health problem i am having and has asked how i am feeling every time i have talked to him. I dont know of or have ever experienced any shops that care so much about their customers. The owner and Service Manager are just as caring as the mechanics they hire. This establishment is truly a blessing to the Waukegan area and Lake County as a whole!

I have always used Strang Automotive for all of my vehicles over the past 10 years. They are always honest, quick, and accurate at getting the job done. This last time around I just had a hood rattle that was quite annoying. They got my car right in on appointment and asked me questions about what I was experiencing. They called right away when they thought they found the source of the problem. I picked up my car same day, price was excellent and he said if the noise continued that he could take another look (since TBH it didnt always make the noise and wasnt that loud on all occasions). It hasnt made that god awful rattle since so thanks Strang! Also my Mother has been taking her vehicles here too for years and always has great service.
