For years, I used to use Hill Lumber as a Convenience store because I did most of my shopping at Lowes and if I was in a hurry, I would got to Hills. I finally got tired of being treated as no body, even after shopping at Lowes for over 5 years. I would spend from $1,500 to $3,000 in most months. No one knew my name but most try to help, if I could someone, but many times they did not work that department so I might as well ask the house keepers.I decided to switch to Hill, because even though I was a part time shopper there, they knew my name. If any employee has been there over a month, they will be able to tell exactly where what you need is or better yet, they would take you.I discovered that Hill had nearly the same variety of items but they just may not have as many in stock as Lowes. Many times they would be the same price or lower than Lowes. If they dont have it, they can order it and have it by the following Thursday. Try that at Lowes or Home Depot.They have a program where if you sign up, that for every dollar you spend (I dont remember the exact amount), you get so much returned in form of a Gift card from Hills. I have received many cards for $20 to $35 dollars.Sam R. Hill Lumber reminds me of the small lumber Companies of the past. They have the variety that the large stores do, pricing is competitive and they know your name if you are in there very much. Better yet, they appreciate your business. Would give them 6 stars if it was possible.

Went in to buy a new weedeater, service was great very helpful they answered all my questions and concerns about the weedeater.. Great place to shop for what you need with out the long lines

Ace Hardware -- exceptional cleanliness, well organized, easy to find anything you need, from a #8-32 nut to a Charbroil grill. Friendly and efficient staff will answer any questions you have. Great paint/stain/finish selection. Everything priced reasonably and competitive with the big box stores.

Walked in and the young lady didn’t acknowledge me..the guy in the lumber area never looked away from his computer. Poor customer service I guess my money wasn’t good enough.

Employees are very helpful what I like is that they will explain how to use the product you are purchasing if you are like me that has no clue of what your getting your self into theyll give you and 💡 of how to do it yourself. I have been to every hardware store in the Tyler and surrounding area and couldnt find a metal funnel for work. I was thankful that they had it. I will always come here first for my supplies from here on out.

They are pretty good. They have and adequate selection of products. The only problem i have with them is theyre attitude. Basically dont seem to care whether or not you are there. Igo there when icant find what Im looking for elsewhere or ineed something small. Its closer than any other hardware store.

Worst customer service ever!!!!!! I called there to verify employment on one of the employees and the store manager STEVE KEATON was extremely rude and a complete jerk. I asked him if he knew of someone who I could call and get hire date information because I needed it to approve car application he simply said no and if I didnt tell him what date I was given for hire date then he couldnt tell me and said GOOD BYE! I called corporate office and they seemed not to really care. I will never shop at this store!

One stop shop for most home improvement needs.. Its really close to my residence so I get most of my material there for projects.

Not open on Sundays. Only one person working the lumber yard on Saturdays. Selection is limited and the plants they were selling lacked water. I only use them because they are close to my house.

Store was closed 5 min before closing time. Frustrating!!!
