Pretty standard JC Pennys but was lacking in cleanliness and was generally out of stock in most sections of the store. Not the best shopping experience.

The only drawback was the temperature inside was too warm, so we left earlier than otherwise anticipated. But first we bought what we needed!

This is the first time Ive been in this location but the one way closer to me closed down and I wanted to shop in person. JCPenney used to be one of my fav stores but I rarely go now. However I have purchased several drapes and rugs from them online the past 18 months and thats a nice option.

Exchanging items! Barbara, the service clerk, was extremely helpful in reconciling our exchange. We also had a chance to explore the store and we were impressed with the quality of the clothes, prices and overall offerings! Well be back!

The store has tons of excellent merchandise and some great sale prices! I was there today (9/20/21 @ approx. 5:40PM) and found some great deals on activewear by Puma & Champion. I gathered up about $250 in merchandise. I began looking for a register to have my purchases rung up. I did about 2.5 laps around the entire store and saw between 6 & 8 sales associates in various locations throughout the store. When I approached some, theyd ignore me, a few others just about ran and hid when I approached them! So I hung the $250 worith of merchandise in the nearest rack I could find and left the store without making a purchase! Inattentive, lazy and rather rude staff! No wonder the store is failing.... The employees are terrible. I will shop at Macys, Beallls & Kohls from this day forward!

Made a quick visit today (7/6/21), good selection, fairly busy, employees asleep at the wheel. I feel for management, such an opportunity to make sales and profit.

Retail store in an all but abandoned mall. Why do we still have retail stores? Maybe if the employees were treated/paid better by their hiring company, especially during a pandemic, they wouldnt feel abandoned and may actually care about their jobs. I dont think shoppers have a right to complain that the employees are not having fun at their jobs here, again, especially during a pandemic.

I had a$10 reward couldnt find non of my coupns ever work. Very annoying walked out with nothing while I had over$100.00 of stuff

Although the department store has a wealth of products at moderate prices on display, I found shopping rather difficult. Many pieces of garment do not have price tags or the presentation table does not have a price display. You got to walk to one of the few check out points, often about a long distance, wait in queue, just to learn the price of the product.Why dont you install scanners as many retail stores have them today?I also find it unpleasant that only one or two cashier locations per floor are staffed. Sales staff are anyway nowadays no longer available.No surprise that people switch to online shopping as shopping fun at retail stores is no longer on hands. Even more due to the closed fitting room nowadays.

Store had big selection of bras. Advertisement did not explain how to get discount for regular customers. Cashier told me I had to order online to get discount. When placing order I had to pay $9.00 for shipping one bra! I elected to have merchandise shipped to store which is free but I have to wait 10 - 15 days for item. Not a good way to do business!

Great customer service, lots of inventory though so it was hard to look without stuff falling off the rack.

I have always bought my underwear at Penneys. So I was in need for a few new pair. Went to Penneys and found the mens department and then underwear. There were lots of package display in glass cubes. Quite impressive but what was not impressive was the underwear was poorly organized and almost impossible to find anything. Well I couldnt find my size and style so I walked out with nothing...no sale!

I love JCP but preferred the one in Bradenton as it had much more of a selection. Unfortunate that the one in Bradebton closed. The one in SRQ is a bit far south for me but if they keep up with a full inventory I would be more inclined to make the trip more often.

Just checked out this store due to an online jewelry order I need to return/exchange. This location doesnt have a jewelry department though. Very edited location from what I can tell.

Wow where to start? A terrible shopping experience at this location is putting it mildly. No prices on many items while unable to price check them yourself. Checked website for price and item rings up higher at register. No price match. Eerie and rather decrepit looking store which is actually better than the customer service you will receive. The employees are miserable and very much need retraining. Please put this store on the closing list!

A Karen threatened to shoot my wife.

If you’re interested in going to J.C. Penney’s to purchase a pair of glasses think twice!!! The staff does not inform you of what’s not under warranty before your purchase. If you purchase frames only they are not under warranty!!! You have to pay out-of-pocket if you need another pair no matter if you’ve had them for a short amount of time. Such a ripoff!!! I can say the employee made every effort in addition to contacting their customer service department to resolve this issue but to no avail. She was very apologetic and in turn I told her it was not her fault but the stores policy. If my wife and I had known about this policy beforehand we would have not purchased anything from this store. Burnt once but not ever again.😤😤🤬🤬🤬😤🤬😤

I tried to order 4 items, but two would not ship to store and I would have to pay for shipping, so I deleted the items. I chose curbside pickup for the other 2 items, and it ended up a night mare. All of the instructions were false, I sat out front calling and going on the website... nothing worked. I ended up having to go into the store to pick up my order. I wont be going back.

Poorly stocked. Must be this store is closing because the employees were as enthusiastic as siberian salt mine slaves. Only 2 registers open, long lines. Saw an employee shopping, as opposed to...oh, you know working a freaking register.... Horrible. Didnt want to give even one star...but hey, its Christmas.

Employees were very nice. Store/Mall desolate. It was a shock to see such a huge place with MAYBE Five stores and the ONLY anchors were JC Penney & movie theater. It was confusing on how to get in because alot of the entrances are locked, so I had to stop Security and have them lead me to an entrance....

Were sure going to miss JCPENNEYS Stores! Definitely LOTS of Great Discounts!

There was literally only one person able to help anyone. Other employees were walking around and referred everyone to the cashier; who had a long line.

Only reason I give 3 stars is because I’ve been to this particular JCPenney for the past few weeks trying to track down one more tie I need for groomsmen in my wedding and the last few times I asked for help from employees.. it was like no one knew what they were doing! I am so glad I met Kim and Barbara today.. they were wonderful even though we were unable to find the tie I needed.

The last anchor? Maybe... Last week, the Westfield signs outside began disappearing from Sarasota Square Mall... I can only hope that they are going to pull out and sell this mall. It would be amazing if the rent dropped with new owners, and breathed new life into this deserving place!

It was almost Christmas 2019 & I was stuck in a wheelchair with a badly broken ankle —recovering from surgery to repair it. My other foot also had a broken bone. 🤷🏻‍♀️A girl friend who was so helpful in assisting me to get into & out of the shower wanted a nightgown for Christmas. I enjoyed shopping JCP online and found TWO nightgowns & a purple cotton top for her for the price of one nightgown. They were shipped to me & my friend loved them! JCP was there when I needed to shop from home. 🎄

Priced right $$, dependable clothing options for business casual, the hours allow working folk to get in to buy clothing. Recently went outside of my comfort range and bought a designer memory foam pillow and some homegoods. I was VERY impressed- best night sleep Ive had and the bed set has withstood young children, pets and retained its charm.

I placed my first order ever online and chose same day pickup. It was late in the day so expected it to be ready for pick up the following day; imagine my surprise when I received a text letting me know that my order was ready. I will definitely shop here again!

Beebs helped me pick out rings. My love hasnt worn jewelry in 18+ years and it took a lot of patience to deal with him picking out the right fit. She was absolutely AWESOME and ended up saving us more money than what we spent on the rings. If all Pennys associates were like this, the place would be packed! She is wonderful and deserves a pay raise.

Believe it or not, JC saved the day. All I wanted were simple and well made dress chinos. This is a bigger challenge than you might imagine. Nobody makes quality clothes for women. Worthington saved me. Inexpensive, 97% cotton and flattering.

Could not find what I wanted..

Its so sad to see a great store to be like that, you walk in and everything is mess up, there is almost no one working there, everything on the floor at counters. Why is that? The few people that work there should be responsible for this, but they look at you with the face of they dint care. So sad.

The place is dark, empty, and not at all properly staffed. Sorry to say its on its way out. Meanwhile, I got some killer deals on some mens business wear!

Still the nicest store; the employees are all amazingly friendly and helpful, they know the merchandise, and the store is clean and well-arranged. PLUS, there are killer prices and coupon deals all over the place. Great experience!!

Sephora indoors the worst place to go in and exchange an item.Maria was the employee helping me and embarrassing me in the front of other customers.I guess I can shop in another store where I can be treated with respect.Totally unnecessary to do what you did today Maria you need to learn about customers rights and about customer service when you work in a place that you have to help people.You also need to stop pushing customers to keep or purchase the things that doesn’t look good on. I heard a customer complaint right there beside me about how unprofessional people are at this location.I believe it now 🤔

We love shopping @ Penneys. One of the last strongholds, we love getting great deals online but there is nothing better then touching and feeling the stuff you like to own. Very competitive price and sometimes even cheaper then Amazon.

Was able to get my son some great clothes, they happen to have a young petite section for grown men... Which I thought was incredible otherwise Im not really sure he be dressed well.

The item that I wanted to buy was listed as available in store at my closest store online. I drove 20min out of my way to go pick it up. After wasting a lot of time looking for it, I asked them to look it up & help me find it. Turns out they didnt have it, and the system lists 1 available when there are none by default. Then I picked up a similar item from the clearance rack & the register rang it up full price. I dont plan to waste my time going there again.

Sales staff is always helpful. Cashier stopped my purchase to make sure I had a coupon, which saved half off a special event dress. Awesome!

Although I love JCPenney, I often order from Amazon because JCPenney online takes too long to receive the merchandise. For example, I wanted to send my dad a gift for Father’s Day. I ordered it on June 3 and receive notification that he would not get it until June 24. A week after Father’s Day. I had to go to Amazon to guarantee a faster delivery on another special gift for my dad. JC Penney please stop using the pony express. I would much rather spend my money at JCP.
