My friends and I took a beginner class about five months ago and have become regulars. Kathy and the rest of the crew are inviting, knowledgeable and extremely generous with their time. Ive learned so much and feel fortunate l to have a place where I can go to relax, socialize with great people, and let the creativity flow.

My husband and I took a hand building class from Evelyn and a wheel class from Kathy this week. We had a blast and love the pottery pieces we made. Both instructors made it fun and we look forward to our next class.

If you are new to ceramics this is a great place to take intro classes, and for a reasonable price. Jude is a wonderful teacher!

Rae is one of the best teachers out there. She teaches you the ways of the clay, and she is focused and chill. If its your first time coming, it wont take very long to get your hands dirty ( I think that is a big plus😃). You can tell she loves to teach, and everyone who comes in has a real hard time keeping track of time. Time flies😂

I went to Fire and Mud to register my youngest daughter, who is special needs (PWS), into classes. She was so excited to begin the lessons and I was told we could immediately sign up and pre-pay for the course online, so I did. Later on, my daughter and I stopped by the center to ask when classes begin (I was not informed of this despite having paid), as my daughter is in charter school and I needed to know the class schedules ahead of time. When I entered the center, an employee who was assisting an older man and woman completely ignored our presence. We waited and waited, standing by. It wasnt until the woman, who was visibly uncomfortable by the employees negligence, told the employee that she had a customer who needed assistance that the employee had the audacity to tell the old man and woman not to mind us, that we “registered and ask a lot of questions”. She then continued to assist the man and woman and proceeded to ignore us! I felt so embarrassed by this treatment that I left and called the center to tell them we will be withdrawing from the class. I have never been treated with such a lack of respect. I felt discriminated against as an immigrant and as a Muslim and I was disappointed that this treatment kept my daughter from learning a new craft.

I wanted to take a moment to share an honest review that I think would help others understand the studio and what they offer a little better. My friend and I signed up for a beginning wheel class and it was a lot of fun. We both made small little bowls and enjoyed the experience. We had the impression that the class included glazing and firing your piece but it doesn’t and it’s a separate class that you need to pay for. Good to know, since that was not shared up front. However, what really took me by surprise was the customer service I experienced when I called to try and problem solve as to how we could get our pieces glazed and fired. My friend and I weren’t able to take the second class due to crazy schedules and I called to see if it could be glazed and fired for us with whatever colors the shop chose. I recommended dipping it in whatever was convenient as they worked on other pieces. After speaking with one employee, who said they could do that for us, I am assuming the owner got on the phone. She changed the option to $25 a piece to glaze and fire plus was very defensive when I told her that $50 was a ridiculous price to dip two bowls in glaze and put in the kiln while they were already doing so for other pieces anyway. I’ve had experience with glazing and firing and it’s not ‘extra work’ as she said. In the end, the phone call ended, when I hung up because she became so upset when I told her I’d be letting others know. Just not the way to handle customer service. Soooo if you want to take all the classes, go for it! Otherwise, I’d recommend a different studio.
