We’ve been taking our 1991 Benz 190e 2.6 here for a decade or more. The car has been babied and still looks brand new in and out. It’s hard to find talented and careful mechanics who can work on new and old cars, but Joe’s work is exemplary. He’s fair with pricing and very good at diagnostics. A rare gem. We’ll keep this car as long as J&L are in business. When they close, it’s off to Meecham.

Well I generally love it, they do the best repair work for the best price in the city. But it was closed when I went and looked super run down :(

J&L Auto is the only repair shop youll need, from basic maintenance to large repairs . . . even a quick inspection before buying a used car. Joe will never steer you wrong or recommend anything that doesnt need to be done. He is very honest; both he and his wife Linda are a delight!Ive had many different cars worked on at Joes over the years - a Honda, a Nissan, a Toyota, and even a Lotus. Joe is a great guy and I recommend him to anyone!!

Got stranded overnight after my car started overheating. Got turned down at a lot off other repair shops but he offered to take a look at it and fixed it all in the same day. Would definitely come here again. Man is reliable, honest, and reasonable. Need more mechanics like these.

Ive been taking my 2004 Jeep Liberty to J&L for almost 10 years. Joe has maintained my car in top running condition and I trust the work he does. He only does the repairs when they are needed and at a very fair price (and a fraction of what the dealer would charge). He is very knowledgable about a variety of makes, and I have several friends who also use him and all are happy with his service on their domestic and imports.

Always a pleasant experience at J&L. Joe is a really honest mechanic who goes above and beyond... I think he is one of the last honest mechanics in the city. He does a great job and charges you a very fair price. Thanks again Joe for getting the Subaru up and running

Was towed from the bay bridge called up a few shops and eventually landed at J&L. Joe took care of me and was very upfront with the cost and showing me my old parts. I will definitely take my car back to Joe soon.

The owner is a scammer in my opinion. My car suddenly stopped running a week ago while I was driving. The person at AAA who towed the car recommended this shop and I listened to him. Big mistake! We thought it might be fuel pumps problem but he checked and said it was not ( presumably he was able to restart the car). And he said it could be ECMs problem. The next day I went back to look at the car, he turned around and said it was fuel pumps problem as he detected low pressure. So he proceeded to change the fuel pump.As soon as I picked up the car, I noticed the car was not running smoothly at all. It jerked/skips all the time while I was driving it ( And this was not the case before I did this repair). And then, I noticed that the gas meter was going down so fast like it was draining gas.Eventually, an almost full tank of gas ran for less than 150 miles. Thats not normal for a Subaru Outback.Since everything happened right after the fuel pump changed. I had to assume that either he misdiagnosed the issue or he didnt install the fuel pump properly. A common reason is air and fuel ration isnt correctly set.So I brought the car back to him in about a week since I have a one year warranty on the work. The guy completely flipped when I went back. He refused to even look at the work they had done. He insisted that he had done nothing wrong and tried to get me out of the garage as soon as he could.I told him that I had a one year warranty on the car and this issue happened as soon as I picked up the car, and that he should at least check if the work he did was fine. His response was, Well, What if you come back again next week? What if you keep coming back?. Well, it was the first time I bought the car back so I am not sure what his point was. He was just outright bullying and not willing to accept responsibility. He told me I had to bring the car to a Subaru dealership to do a diagnosis as he refused to even look at it. He said he didnt care about other mechanics opinion except Subaru dealership. Well, isnt he an independent mechanic himself?I paid over $700 for the repair and what he did was unacceptable and in my opinion, scamming. Keep yourself away from this shop if you dont want to be scammed.
