The staff is knowledgeable, patient and super welcoming. Ive been coming to the shop for years. It feels good to support them as a local business. Its nice to have a local place to socialize that isnt a bar. Keep Game Haven alive!

Overall great experience here. I appreciate how clean this store is honestly. Staff were very kind and helpful. On the smaller side of retro gaming, but The Game Haven makes up for it in their tabletop gaming products. Cant wait to go back and purchase some D&D minis for my next campaign!

Had a decent stock of D&D minis and board games. Staff was a bit standoffish.

The staff member who helped us was awesome - answered all of our questions and was friendly and respectful, even when I asked a kind of dumb question. Their selection of mtg cards, mini figs, and board games is impressive and worth the stop. I will be back!!

I love this store as I do most stores I get my magic cards from. Most of the staff are really cool dudes and are really helpful. I am just getting familiar with this location so I will update this review sometime in the future. Like all card stores the only thing I can complain about is the card mark up but this is to be expected. I hate biting that bullet but I think its good to support your LGS. Today I paid a good amount more for a Valki then I could have gotten it for on TCG but its worth it to support small businesses. Unfortunately being a collector I end up spending a lot more at these stores then I would online. So far a couple hundred more but it is worth it for convenience and to support the businesses that keep our game thriving and social 😁 would highly recommend. If you are a magic player they have a huge amount of cards in inventory for you to find. Just hand them a list and they will have almost all the cards on that list if its from a traditional set and not super rare.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. Weve been there for various game sessions, too, and the environment and milieu is terrific. I prefer to support locally owned businesses if I can and they certainly deserve the patronage.

Went to pick up a few cards to teach my son how to play Magic the Gathering, left a customer for life. These guys are top notch, incredibly helpful store staff, what I was looking for wasnt available, but they offered me suggestions, advice, and helped more than anyone could ever ask. Looking forward to stopping by more, joining in on a few games, and doing my future shopping with them in the future! Keep up the great work The Game Haven!

Great place for gamers!

Coll little place with a very friendly guy behind the counter. This is definitely the kind of place Id hang out at if I lived in the area!

Somewhat limited selection, and the staff was about as communicative as a mausoleum. But theyve got nerd stuff at good prices if thats what your looking for.

The Game Haven is a great store staffed with awesome folks. Tuesday nights is minis night and the guys playing are nice and welcoming.

The staff are very nice and fun people to be around. Some of the customers have been a little rude, but to me thats only happened a few times. Other than that, the atmosphere will grab onto you and make you want to go play some games. :3

Store is ok, selection is mid-range, game room is decent but the staff are TERRIBLE! This is a game store guys, the whole point of coming here is having fun! As other reviewers have mentioned the staff get in loud arguments with the customers, ignore customers, whine about how depressing their lives are, and all around create an atmosphere that is very toxic. Dayton is blessed with a large number of game stores considering the citys size, I cant honestly see why someone would come here instead of gem city games, epic loot, etc.

This is a good hangout comic shop, if you are looking for a place to just play Magic all day and talk to employees and other players about the game. Otherwise, its an emergencies only (cant find a card, game, toy, etc. at any other shops in the area) place. Bell Book and Comic, Mavericks, Super-Fly, all have much better prices, a FRIENDLY and HELPFUL staff, and FAST service. It seems like every time I stop at Game Haven, the employee is talking to a friend who isnt buying or looking at anything and I have to wait twenty minutes for the conversation to end while I wait at the counter. I dont mind, but every once in a while, Im in a hurry and its bothersome. Also, it took a few visits before most of the staff warmed up to me (like they were testing if I deserved to shop there), they have a real elitist attitude. Now that Im accepted, Its not a problem, and they are all friendly. But it is a bit intimidating to new customers (if you cant prove you are a nerd, they dont want you there). Whatever you do, though, dont bring in cards to trade/sell. Trade prices are meh. But more importantly, you will get eye rolls, sighs, and annoyed attitudes from the staff every time. Its tiresome to the staff and they want you to know it. I dont know why they still take trade-ins if they hate it so much.

Overall the prices are fair. My experience was soured by a rude employee lets call him Chris P. I called about questions concerning a board game. I asked a simple question regarding pricing and he requested that I contacted his manager later in the day. I decided a short while later to go into the store and purchase the game anyway without talking to the manager. While in the store Chris P. Began talking about me and the conversion that we had on the phone regarding the game that I was there to purchase. I called him out on it as he fabricated our conversation though I still bought the game. He offered zero apology for being unprofessional. I understand that I may have bust the bubble on his story with his buddies but how rude!!!! Not impressed and I will not go back.

I love the feeling of this store. If you are looking for a cozy store that doesnt feel like you are constantly being pressured in to sales this is that place. Their selection of cards is reasonably priced and they are one of the only places that has those Commons you need in every sideboard but forgot in your other sideboard.Their selection of tabletop and board games is good for getting people in to these hobbies, and once you are looking for the esoteric stuff they can order it for you easily. It helps in a medium where you have to have the thing the same day as you want to use it.Over all this store feels right and doesnt intimidate like some of the others I have been in.

Very enjoyable to go into to relax and unwind playing a game of Pinball. Love it. Staff working there are very considerate and polite. Really nice atmosphere.

It is nice sized and have a decent selection, however when i arrived, there were many employees outside smoking right outside the door. I have no issues with smoking as i do too, but do it away from the door, it just shows you got no respect for your customers or the adjacent stores customers. Also they have an uppity attitude, kind of like if you ask them a question that they think you should know, then you must be stupid for not knowing. There are TOO MANY places like this one for them to act that way, i have had better customer service with AT&T and that says a lot... I guess trying new places that are about your hobby, isnt always as fun as you think :(

I love going to this store. The people are super friendly and are always very good at giving suggestions and answering questions. This store is what got us into tabletop gaming. I always try to go here since I love supporting local businesses, and this place just rocks in general. They have a lot of game nights, a huge selection, and all around chill atmosphere.

Zero comics, zero action figures. Should not show up in a search for comic shops. D&D? Sure. Magic the Gatherine? Check! But thats it.

I have been a regular customer of The Game Haven for several years and have always loved it. They have a great selection of used games from every generation even a few from X-Box: One and Playstation 4. They have recently expanded their board game selection which I very much enjoy because I love board games.All in all, this is a great store that you should check out!

Been here a quite few times now and the owner and employees get mad, throw fits, and/or roll their eyes at you when you want help with anything at all. Weird. Pretty good place to go if you just wanna hang out or play but dont expect any level of positive customer experience.

The guys here are super cool dont listen to Christopher. He writes fake bad reviews about all the local game stores like Game Swap and Clarkade and then he writes bogus good reviews for places hes never been in the United Kingdom and Louisiana. He must be quite the world traveler or quite the scam artist. He must have way too much time on his hands. Dont listen to him, Game Haven is super cool!!!

Great ppl and fun place to play your games!

Best brick and motar store in town. I have two personal favorites of their staff that are funny and very helpful. The owner being one of them he can explain new games so a child can understand them and does it all while trying to give you the best deal possible. Have never had better service at a game store. Had gone out of their way on a few occasions just to help me out. I moved here only a couple weeks ago and this is already my go to. I used to tour game stores wherever I traveled and I will say this is one of the best. You wont be disappointed, anything they dont have they are willing to order so go here for both playing games and buying.

This is the worst gaming store Ive ever been too and Ive given it many chances. The store is a mess, the employees act like they are better than you and are always annoyed when you ask questions. Trading in magic cards here is a nightmare. They give terrible trade in prices. I tried to trade in cards here and they offered $11 on a card epic loot offered me $27 in trade for. Their singles are overpriced and the customer service is Terrible. Theyve been known to change prices on you if their system has it as a different price and always have an attitude when you walk in. I wont even go here if its the only place in town that has the card I need for a magic deck. Their cash prices on magic singles is offensive. I would rather them just be honest and say they are ripping you off. $25 on a card that retails for $100 is literally scamming people. I wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy because going here is that miserable.

Not much quality video game selection, had some nice stuff in the display case. A lot of the games had very faded cover art, but prices were good enough to make me feel ok with that. Smelled badly of the vape juice place next door.

Cool spot to hang at. There is one very short weird old guy that always winks at me and asks if I am into weird stuff. Makes me feel uneasy when he is there.

Im sure this is a nice place if your friends with the know it all guys smoking not 5 feet from the front door. Its one of those places that isnt friendly if your outside the small frequent customers who probably know the guys working. Its not impressive at all I dont mind small stores but its made for table top games. I dont enjoy the rude aspect of the employee base. I had made a comment of a guys jacket in a joking manner and in a story tone replied he didnt care it was warm I promptly left after realizing their very specific bushel selection. How theyre a game havan is baffling.

Sold some Magic the Gathering cards that I had there. They gave me a fair price. They were friendly and knowledgeable.

Waste of time and dont deserve the business. They wont give you any customer service if they dont know you personally. Its clear this store is only directed at friends or family of theirs. Rips everyone off anyway and none of their inventory is worth the money. Spend it elsewhere that appreciates you.

The boardgame prices at The Game Haven are well below list price, which is a welcome change from most brick & mortar game shops. The selection is pretty good, but theres only a small end-cap of one of their aisles that contains the newest releases, so sometimes the stock seems a little stagnant. I read some of the other reviews of Game Haven that talk about unpleasant employees, but Ive never experienced or witnessed this behavior. The employees Ive encountered are pleasant and helpful. Overall, Id strongly recommend this shop to anyone interested in the hobby boardgame world.

Beware your online orders and anything inside the physical store itself since its a small business this dude packages and ships all their merchandise personally. unless your already infested with parasites avoid this place at all costs.

If youre looking for a magic the gathering store this is my pick in the area. The staff are knowledgeable and they have a good stock.

No PC games, but plenty of console games, Dungeon and Dragons, Warhammer 44000, tons of figurines, and lots of gaming cards for battles. They have a separate room for card battles with players. Lots of game manuals and D&D lores.

Really good store with allot to choose from. My favorite thing about this store is the selection of old console games. Have bought comics from them before, though Im not much into comics, just they were the only store nearby that carried the MLP series of comics. Movie prices are a bit high, but reasonable if you find a movie you want that you cant get new. Heck I plan on going there after I get off work today since they are on my way home. Been wanting to get a PSP and I regret selling mine a couple years ago.

How this place stays in business is beyond me. 5 dollars for a used dvd?! In 2018?! Ridiculous! The staff are all neckbeards and unless they know you personally you will not even be acknowledged in the store. Poor selection of overpriced games too. Newsflash! Just because a game is a certain price on ebay doesnt mean it will ever sell or is worth that much. Avoid this place.

The Game Haven is a game store that is great for the community. The staff are great. When it comes to questions about anything especially MTG questions they are who you want to talk to. This store always has official MTG gameplay on scheduled days that requires your DCI number. The prices of things in the store are reasonable and agreeable. (For anyone who plays The Magic the Gathering card game intrested in FNM, Pre-release events, drafts and league. This is a great place to be.)

This is one of those odd game stores as they dabble in a little bit of everything but dont seem to have enough to warrant the time to drop in. They have used video games and systems, but not a ton. The magic singles section looked anemic. The board games they have are a mixture of deck builders and evergreens with a couple of oddballs thrown in. While I dont know enough about miniatures to judge I do know the clerk was marking excuses for missing product while I was in the store. All in all not a great experience.
