Kayuh Bicycle & Cafe thanks for the conversation I enjoyed being at your place of business for the first time and my the way your coffee was will definitely have me stopping pass again. Your bicycle technicians were interacting with the public in a mannerly fashion which I greatly appreciated. And the young lady making my coffee was pleasant as well. I happened to buy two items in which I truly needed thanks for having them on hand. I most definitely will support your business in the future. πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

For the last 5 years or so Ive seen this bike shop grow into something I keep coming back to. Time and time again the shop and the owner have done everything they can to help me and my SO out in picking bikes at a competitive price. Honestly thanks to the shop Ive been able to get cool bikes like the bombtrack I ride everyday to work (20 miles back and forth over 5 days). Without fail the shop has amazing food and drinks like: Thai tea, muffins and sandwiches when they could. Even during COVID, theyve done their best to schedule myself around a decent time frame for maintenance and all around random questions. I live in west Philly but still call this my LBS. All bikes in the photos were built and maintained by Kayuh.

Most welcoming bike shop Ive ever experienced in many years in Philly. Ive spent a lot of time and money feeling like a nuisance at other shops with clique-y dude vibes. I have been to several Philly bike shops and Kayuh is by far the best. Henry and his staff are genuinely good people and go out of their way to explain everything and put your mind at ease. I have never spoken with a mechanic who was so thorough and made sure I understood exactly what service my bike received.. in fact Henry caught some problems my previous bike shop passed over. The price was absolutely fair and I was happy to support a wonderful small business! Definitely check out Kayuh for your Philly cycling needs!

Extremely poor customer service made me change my mind about using this bike shop as my primary place for repairs. This morning I went on an early bike ride and caught a flat near the Art Museum without a spare tire. I remembered that Kayuh Bicycles was near by and saw that they opened in an hour, but I had no problem with waiting. I walked there and was waiting as the girl pulled up to open the shop. I patiently stood to the side and was on the phone with a friend. The girl proceeded to go inside and begin her duties. After about 15 minutes she came outside to open the large metal doors, and although I had been there for a long time and it was obvious that I was a waiting customer, the girl did her best to not acknowledge me at all and did not make any eye contact. She completely ignored my presence and went back inside. A couple of minutes later a gentleman pulled up and was looking around and tried to open the door but it was still locked. I very kindly said that the store was still closed, but the girl in the shop was running when I was answered by the dude, .... I know I work here. He then went into the shop without another word once she opened it. I am not doing your business a favor by visiting, there are dozens of bike shops in the city and to have such attitude and ignorance on my first visit means it will be my last. What would have been professional response by both of them would be her saying, Hi, I can see that youre waiting for us to open, our technician has not arrived and I am still setting up, but we will be with you shortly! or the gentleman, Hi, yeah I work here and I am just trying to get her attention, we will be right with you to assist with your bike shortly as the shop opens. The two people that worked there this morning acted like I was not worthy enough of your business and clearly lack in customer service and management skills. Although, this is a neighborhood bike shop I shouldnt feel like a burden as a customer, so for that reason I felt it was appropriate to let the owners of this establishment know the childish and irresponsible actions of their employees. I understand this may not be a reflection of the entire business, but it sure creates negative imagery. I will now be further inconvenienced by taking my bike back to another shop later this morning. I simply to not wish to spend my money with a business that is rude and dismissive of its customers.

The Kayuh Crew are fantastic and knowledgable folks who make getting your bike serviced an incredibly easy experience. They are fast, do quality work, and most importantly, are smarm-free. Ive had tough experiences with bike shops who evidently believe there are dumb questions, and while Im not the most knowledgeable about bikes, respect is important. Kayuh treats the customers with that respect and I highly recommend the shop, be it an expert or beginner.

I had a flat in the back. Took it in and they fixed it for 16 bucks. Went out riding that same day 2 hours after and got another flat in the back. I ride around 60-70 miles a week consistently for about s year and have only gotten 1 flat before this on this bike. I call up and say I just had my tire fixed and its flat again. They say that happens and its not because they havent cleared out the original glass out properly, while Im on the phone without looking at it. The place does s horrible job and makes you pay for 2 jobs when it should have been 1 job and 1 inconvenience.

I chatted with an employee there via email to set up a test ride for a bike. By the end of the exchange they told me see you Tuesday, it was Saturday at the time of the email. So, I rearranged my work schedule around their hours of operation so I could be there Tuesday. When I showed up Tuesday they told me they only do meetings by appointment and that I need to set up one up and come back tomorrow. As if I can just clear my schedule whenever I want. They wouldnt let me test the bike. Now my plans for travel this week are totally screwed up and my time planning has been wasted. The person I emailed was very nice and helpful which is why it doesnt get one star. I only wish is that a bike shop couldve sold me a bike today. *EDIT* I changed this from 2 stars to 3 because the person who I assume was the owner followed up, addressed the issue and was courteous of the whole thing. Although they did NOT try to reschedule later in the afternoon as the reply suggests. Apparently I cant add a comment to their reply. The addition of saying I refused to reschedule later that day is incorrect information.

They made recommendations on what they would do if it was their bike versus what needs to be done right away. They were fair and friendly and the cafe is a huge plus and appropriately priced. Kayuh has the most pleasant customer experience of any bike shop I have ever been to. I tried a few shops in the city and even a few in the suburbs over the past 5 years and none even compare to the quality of service that Kayuh provides. Unlike any bike shop in the area, they are also a cafe with healthy snacks, pastries, coffee and tea and other beverages as well. They offer information for local cultural enrichment, about healthy living and biking, upcoming local events and more in a casual, friendly environment. The repair costs are incredible in comparison to shops in center city and the staff is comfortable and accessible to answer questions and perform work on your bike. They are quick, efficient, and knowledgable and I can always count on a phone call to update me if my bike were finished or if additional work will needs to be performed. Overall, the atmosphere at Kayuh is the best in the city and I think all other bike shops and local business owners should aspire to operate the way Kayuh does. I have been a loyal customer for 3 years and I wont bring my bikes anywhere else!

Anyway as I walk in with my bike a little past 7:00am I’m greeted with scowling looks from the young lady serving breakfast, coffee, etc. I smile look over and say good morning... no response. I work in the service industry there are a number of reasons why this young lady could be upset and I understand. But what I won’t accept is being outright ignored. I didn’t realize the bike shops β€˜true’ hours till I walked my bike to the back to see the sign. So I’m gonna walk up 10 blocks to the bike shop at 28th and Girard because I know there I’m not ignored and I’m willing to go out of my way for proper service even if it’s a little more expensive.

Not only did he fix a bunch of problems I had always ignored about the bike, but he charged me next to nothing. This is the first bike place I have gotten help at in Philadelphia that didnt make me feel like a moron for not knowing anything about bikes. My friend recommended it to me after bringing his bike here last week, and I will be sure to pass that on to others. Very nice staff. And the music was on point. Thanks guys!

The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the lead bike mechanic. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the smoothies and food are really good.
