Customer service is horrible. They are extremely under staffed with only one person working reservations and the phone. God forbid you call them. They will have you on hold for over an hour and I still never spoke to anyone. After getting to the store I witnessed one person answering the phone, telling them to hold while they served everyone else at the store. Needless to say the employee never got back to anyone on hold. This location SUCKS out load!!

Wish I could give 0 stars. I rented a truck and a tow dolly for my car and I made the reservation in advance and they charged me for it. When I arrived I was given the truck but told there was no tow dolly. The staff was unwilling to help me find one in the area and when I called uhaul they even hung up. I had to move multiple states away so this was extremely stressful. I now have no other option but to sell my car as I am in the military and have to report sooner than I will be able to get a means to transfer my car

This place was always been awful to deal with. They always put you on hold, then when you come in person they take so long to serve you and they ALWAYS rent out everything before you get a chance to ask. Even if its 8am sharp they have nothing except expensive box trucks. They gave me a vehicle with a half tank to start and I had to figure out how to get it back to half instead of filling it up.. what a joke.

Helpful honest and personable. When we moved to the area we were met with a few obstacles. The uhaul storage and truck return made the process easy and less stressful. Johan and Dionne made this part of our move hassle-free. So sick of seeing people take their stress out on the employees when it doesnt go as fast as they want. Awesome employees awesome service.

Both good and bad.....lady inside store, nice lady...,lady outside checking over trucks....Rude.....there no reason she couldnt let me stop by door so wouldnt have to carry heavy boxes across parking lot...lady instead helped me so wouldnt have to do it all.....more customer service training is needed

Some of the best customer service I have ever experience anywhere!I walked in around 7:45 P.M. on Friday. I was taking my time and looking around the store since I am just starting my moving process, and I am trying to figure out which supplies I need. After looking for a minute, Dionne asked me if there was anything she could help me with. I told her that I was trying to figure out what I needed. She asked me how much stuff I need to move, and I gave her a rough explanation of what Im moving and how far Im taking it. She took a professional and friendly interest in my trip and seemed just as excited about my move as I am.While we were talking, someone else came into the store and asked if she could leave her U-Haul there instead of her designated drop-off location. Dionne explained why that was not possible. When the lady seemed distressed, Dionne excused herself in order to calm the lady down and gives her proper directions, as well as suggestions on how to quickly, easily, and safely reach her proper drop-off location.When another employee came in, he locked the door. I asked what time they close, and he advised me that they close at 8:00 P.M. Before I said anything, he said, But you were inside before 8:00, so youll still get service. I know that I hate it when someone comes into the store a few minutes before closing, but at no point did anyone at this location try to rush me or hurry me out the door. When Dionne came back in, she apologized for leaving to help the other customer. I apologized for coming in so close to closing on a Friday night. Dionne said that it wasnt a problem at all, and started asking me more about my trip.Long story short, Dionne helped me pick the right boxes. She also took the time (now well past closing time) to check which U-Haul would be best for my trip. She checked trailers and trucks, as well as giving me a detailed breakdown of the different prices of my different options, even going so far as to calculate tax in her head so I had a true understanding of all of my options and their costs.At no point did I feel rushed or hurried. Dionne is extremely knowledgeable about her job, and she was one of the friendliest people I have met in a long time. On my way out the door, I mentioned that I was going to leave a positive Google review, and Dionne immediately pointed to her managers name on the door: Johann Skull. She said that he deserves the credit for teaching and encouraging all of his employees. I couldnt believe she was so quick to hand all of the credit over to someone else. He must truly be a good manager to create that kind of reaction in one of his employees.Like I said, this is easily some of the best customer service I have ever received from any business anywhere. I didnt even mention how Dionne took the time to go into detail about my different options for ensuring a U-Haul. She also made sure I understood that I can bring back any un-used boxes and get my money back as long as I have my receipt.If I owned my own business, I would want all of my employees to be as friendly, as knowledgeable, and as professional as Dionne.

I wish I could give zero stars for the hassle and lack of professionalism from this site. I rented a truck in Chesapeake (5 stars) and needed a storage unit they didn’t have so I called here and after waiting on the phone for over an hour they give me a reservation here and when we show up, they don’t have the unit they reserved for us. Thank you for NOTHING!!! I would NEVER recommend this site.

I called the other day about my reservation, nobody answered. The message said my wait time was 15 minutes or more. I was just down the street, 2 blocks away. I stopped in to find one employee watching the Hohn Lewis funeral on her phone and didn’t bother addressing me when I walked in. I was the only customer in the store. The other two employees were in the back room. The other female came from the back room to assist, a woman walked in at the same time as me. The woman watching the funeral got up and left the counter. She wasn’t friendly at all. (WHO DOES THAT?) The man in the back room came out to assist customers. Good help must be hard to find.

The manager/employee Mr. Johann Skull was very helpful, professional, and efficient in getting me in and out in a timely manner. I was very pleased with his assistance and due to his professionalism I will be bringing my business back not only to Uhaul but also to this particular location when I need to rent another van again in a couple of weeks. Plus, the van I used was not only in great condition but it was also very clean.

Very poor customer service, the guy working about an hr ago was short w me and dismissive. I went there to pick up a ubox( as told by my moving helper app) he simply said “it ain’t here” I said can u look it up for me he sighed like I was a burden, he was doing nothing. I give a lot of business to U-Haul and their customer service is no match for Penske, but this dude was a douche. If you don’t want to work, go home DUDE!

FAR better than Budget!!!My experience with this U-Haul was excellent and trouble free! I used the 24/7 App, and am very impressed with it. While reserving my truck, I read a message saying that, if a vehicle was not available at my preferred location, I would be called two days prior to pick-up, and offered an alternate location. If they could not find a suitable vehicle at another location, I would receive $50. Basically, they guarantee that a vehicle will be available - unlike Budget, who state loud and clear that they do not, and will not guarantee vehicle availability. I picked up my truck, and using the app, and did not have to deal with anyone face-to-face. The truck I picked up was very clean and well maintained (unlike Budget trucks). After I had the vehicle and drove home, I needed to extend my rental, and needed to add a dolly. I called this location, and found that altering my contract was no problem at all. The person I talked to was very friendly, and made sure that I got what I needed (unlike my last experience with Budget!). Turn-in was easy, especially considering I turned in my truck at 9:00pm, after the business was closed. The only snag was that the app did not accept my debit card, Still waiting to resolve that issue.I dont know whether U-Haul has gotten a new CEO, or has gone through a process improvement study, but they definitely have their stuff together! (Unlike Budget). Im very happy with this truck rental experience, and will definitely go with U-Haul from now on. (#neveragainBudget)

The worst customer service. I have tried calling they answer the phone don’t say hello just hold a min. I was on the phone 40 min before hanging up. I tried calling from different phone while waiting on hold same results. No one checks back and say I’m sorry give me a few they just let you sit. And wait. I have two charges. One was suppose to be a pending charge that would fall off it never did. That’s was March 6 and it’s April 5th. It’s ridiculous. I have been more than patient wish I can post pics of my transactions and how long I’ve been waiting on hold 😤

This place will nickel and dime you to death. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else. I own a business and use U-Haul multiple times a week. And every time I come here they add on some kind of charge. Today they charged me $12 for being just under where the gas line was when I picked it up. After I only went 17 miles and put two gallons of gas on the truck and had the receipt. No customer service skills one lady sat there and ate food at the counter not helping anybody while I waited in line There is a reason they always have trucks on the lot. Because many people have already learned the lesson I learned today. I will never go back here.

Customer service rep I spoke with was awesome, but the fact that i had reservations for 9:30 am Saturday and it wasnt there... furious. They did however send an email at 8 a.m. that morning explaining that it was changed, to Sunday... Not even a text or call. Moving a is hard enough without having to worry about these outside issues.

Recently rented a mid size for $29.95 a day. Had uhaul for 2 day period to move storage units. Cost me $169. Horrible costumer service. Absolutely no discounts or local discount. Truck itself was in Horrible condition, squeaky as heck, thought it might fall apart while driving it and they would blame us and make us pay even more than we already had. Never rent from them. Go to Budget, or Enterprise.... if you want to save $$$$ and have friendlier service and better equipment.

Let me tell you about this place ! My first uhaul experience was horrible Dion and earnest were horrible I first waited 24 minutes before I was helped . I then was charged more than I was quoted . I was granted more time to return truck great but I still got it back in time . While returning I was told the truck was not on full when it was exactly where it was upon my departure! They over charged me at the end still and they did not care

Horrible experience!!! Placed a truck on hold online which I have done at other locations and Ive had no problem.... I get there and they dont even see me in the system and then I show them that I made a reservation online and it said it would be ready by 6:00pm. Then the young lady said well it aint here, we dont have that kind of truck here. So never ever again will I becoming to this location for getting a uhaul! Get it together and try being nicer and more caring to your customers because you have lost my service!

Tried to have trailer wiring installed on our car. I made an appointment through U-Haul for 10:30 am and on arrival was told the installation technician would not be in until 3:00 pm. I returned home with the vehicle after setting an appointment for 3:00 and tried to complain to U-Hauls corporate office, I then received the runaround from U-Hauls corporate offices for about 30 minutes before being connected to a manager at a local store in Portsmouth, Va., which was useless. I then found that U-Haul had earmarked incorrect parts for the install and when I notified the store that was supposed to install the items I then found they did not have the needed parts in stock. I then asked to cancel my appointment and remove the incorrect parts from this cancelled order and stated that I would install the trailer wiring myself with parts bought elsewhere. I have since received three separate calls from U-Haul to confirm the (cancelled) appointment and parts order, I had asked U-Haul on all three occasions to remove my info from U-Hauls data base because I will NEVER use U-Haul for any reason at any time in the future. It looks like the third call finally worked as I have not received any more calls and it appears the credit card they requested to lock the initial appointment has not ben charged, so far. A frustrating morning was spent trying to deal with this lackluster company but Im thankful they didnt lay a hand on our vehicle. I would recommend to stay far away from this incompetent company.
