Always on my list of places to visit when in NYC. Great selection of snare drums, vintage and new, and the same with cymbals. I’ve purchased several Craviotto snares. Being able to play them as opposed to ordering online is important to me. And they ship very quickly.

Went to the store today and was immediately blown away by the drums they carry in stock. One of the employees asked me if I wanted to try out any of the gear and I absolutely had to try a couple of the Craviotto snares. He showed me where the private demo room was that had a kit set up, and I went in to play. Much to my surprise, while I was playing, another employee comes in and very rudely tells me Dude, chill out! What? I thought this was a DRUM SHOP. Maybe he should have chosen to work at a guitar shop instead. Or maybe being rude is just a New York thing. Back to Texas, where drum shops let drummers play drums.

They were knowledgeable about the vintage Ludwig drums I brought in and bought them from me for a reasonable price - cash. Jess was professional and quick. They have a really nice space, def recommend them to anyone.

Staff was helpful and they gave us a good price on the times we bought. All in all, a good store to buy really cool gear and I dont know anywhere else that has as much vintage gear that I can actually go and check out.

Predominately a niche market, catering to jazz/vintage drummers. Knowledgable and welcoming staff. Also, they have 2 rooms to test out their products, which are both new and used. Will be going back.

They have a terrific selection of Kits and selected vintage drums and snares...be warned...theyve just moved to the new location in New York...so they need a couple of more monthes to get everything situated and in place ..but it should be great..If your like myself and are looking to build something terrific ..theyll have the drums..But probably not racks or average music store merchandise...Just drums and cymbals..not tons of hardware...i saw they do have some though...Just ask about your wishes or needsThey might have what your looking for..

Fantastic shop !! Great selection generally but especially for snare drums and cymbals. Also good sounding rooms with some isolation to demo in. Staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and encouraging about spending the time to demo the instrument you are considering buying.

Worst sales staff on the planet. Im a touring drummer with a national act. Whatever city Im in, we stop in the local shops internationally. This is the 3rd time we stopped in maxwells. Nice drums, but can never get any help. This time was no different. Finally got a girl to talk to us after 20 minutes. She knew absolutely nothing about the products, and had to keep going to the manufacturers website. Waste of time. I was eager to purchase a gretsch bop kit like we saw at Vics in Chicago last week. Maxwells had the same kit,but couldnt tell me anything about it. They must live off mail order as there were 4 other employees just chatting.Ill be calling Vics this week to have a gretsch kit shipped to me. They have a great staff, as does Forks in Nashville.

So Im big on getting the salesman interested in me and paying attention to me, but if he doesnt leave his office desk and put the phone down, there is no hope. Further, a lot of the stuff doesnt have price tags. I didnt get a feel that the staff is SO knowledgable. So its a Meh store. And NO STEVE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, he is king on the youtube channel, but if steve is on a boat smokin a cigar, wont help me. Plus the prices arent so great, you can find better deals online. But bottom line is its worth checking out if your a vintage/jazz/classic rock guy and you will be able to compare a lot of nice stuff, so 3-4 stores for me, 3.5 stars really, just need more excited salesman to get behind the kits and show off the gear!
