James at the Dork Den was very helpful and friendly. I am in a wheelchair, and there is a ramp in the back making this store accessible. Also, James has ensured there is enough space between shelves to be able to maneuver around in a wheelchair. He even asked me how the layout was and moved a game that stuck out a little far for my comfort to get past it. He has really taken care to be accessible. Kudos James! Well done! There is also a lot of great merchandise. Something for every gamer!

Guy at the front counter was really helpful and knew his stuff. I find them less expensive than the big department stores and am much happier to support the business.

I live on the western side of Minnesota and decided, based on reviews here, to drive a couple of hours to check this place out. The outside has charm and the inside of the store is charming as well. The store is well stocked with current games. When we arrived there were a couple of people in the game room and a couple shopping but nobody behind the register. We looked around for about 10 minutes and found a few games and books we were interested in. Someone entered through what I assume was a back door with their cute black dog. The person gruffly said Excuse me, as he pushed past us, with a tone that sounded more like Get the heck out of my way!. I figured he was a customer but he went behind the counter. We keep looking around a few more minutes and then noticed the guy behind the counter wasnt wearing a mask despite the signs plastered all over requiring customers to wear masks. It was at that point we decided to head out without buying anything.I would have given the place 5 stars but I took off one star for the employee with the personality of a door knob and 2 points for staff not wearing masks. I wont be driving two hours to visit that store again.

Dork Den is awesome. We found all our DnD stuff there. Minis, dice, books, etc. Theres tons of games, the only thing that they were out of was Pokemon packs. Theyre getting more in soon though. I would recommend them for sure.

Great store, awesome stuff, reasonable prices. Hope to do business with them in the future.

The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that my husband spends way too much money here! This place has become a second home to him and he has made some amazing friends in the process! Very helpful staff and though it isnt open for gaming due to covid...the staff has taken extra measures to ensure that patrons are greeted with a safe, clean environment. Cant wait for them to be back open for gaming!

The place is awesome the guy knows what he’s doing. Really knows his role-playing games has a lot of cool stuff to choose from. If I could give him 10 stars I would I highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I love to shop local for entertainment, gifts, food, and just about everything. Since we love comics and games, we decided to check this place out. However, we were extremely disappointed that neither employee had a mask on. We were not the only customers in the store at the time, and the other gentleman shopping did have one on. We love to support the community with our dollars, however due to their carelessness we will not be returning at least during the pandemic. I doubt we will after either.

Such a comfortable atmosphere. Staff has been great each time I have been here. Friendly, helpful and welcoming. Such a wide variety of games and types of game play! If you have never been here, make it a point to stop in. You may find just the thing you always wanted, but didnt know you wanted it until you saw it. Lol

Altogether this is a nice store with a collection of items from the Nerdom Kingdoms; including Games Workshop, several CCGs, and a variety of graphic novels. I was a bit taken aback by the lack of masks especially in Minnesota.

Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Seems like James is always there to answer questions and point me in the right direction. Whether youre a noob or experienced player you can find a place to sit and play the game.

I come here at least once a month. Staff are super friendly. They are very helpful. They have everything you need for board games or card games.

Overall they were just ok. They have a decent selection of board games but I have found the staff to be a little cold/unfriendly. They are also really slow to put together online orders.Edit:After posting the review above they blocked me from ordering on their TGC account. Usually companies would try to improve so customers have a better experience the next visit. apparently Dork Den doesnt really care about their customers experience. There are two other game stores/comic book shops in Downtown Mankato with a much more friendly staff. I would suggest taking your business to either other store.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Took my number for a game that wasnt in stock. Prices were standard for the games some a little higher and some a little lower.

A nice FLGS. The employees are always willing to help with any questions you might have. The store is well stocked and has a welcoming atmosphere.

There werent many dorks when I went, aside from myself. Typical card shop with a variety of bored games and comics. They do have card events but it is limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First time here while visiting some friends, it was really cool and our server (James) was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Decent place for gamers like me to spend hours window shopping, browsing, and looking into new gaming hobbies.

Ive just recently started going here to get pokemon cards. The staff is very kind and helpful.

The dork den is a great game shop. They have some amazing local artists doing miniture and figureen painting, a wide sellection of product for all ages, an open and free to use play space, helpfull staff that can kffer recomendations on games. Overall a great place.

My experience was awful. Worst place I have been, trying to buy yugioh cards, sleeve and game mat. The cashier have the worst personality. I told him that this is my first time here and where can I find the yugioh section. He said over there? I was like where he point over there and it was a bunch of books. And then he said right here. Which it was above him. I look at it and just walk out. Because of his attitude. Please train your employees. I drove 1 hour and 30 to that place and was planning to spend $200. Because I dont have a local store and was hopping to find one for myself.

Great staff. They were very helpful. Being very new to the hobby they were very patient and never pushy.

If youre looking for a friendly game of warhammer 40k, yu-go-oh! Or pokemon tcg, this in the place to go in Kato. Dont like to paint? Ask around. Theres people that do some good work for a decent price too.

Staff seem to be relatively uninvolved with customers. Ok comic selection but not even in stock with decently new comics. They price back issue comics face value while other places such as double play have them for 50 cents to a dollar. The store seems to not care about that section of their store that much. Cool place to pretty much stop in and walk around, that’s about it.

Worst magic single prices I have ever seen. Nice clean store. Half the staff was friendly. Nice selection of board games. Just could not believe the 25 percent mark up on magic singles. It was nice to browse and shop for singles on eBay at literally 10 to 20 dollars cheaper and order from my phone right there in there store. Also when they tell you they give you 50 percent for trade in and you can look it right up on their computer and see they are giving you 30 to 35 percent, its pretty obvious there is a lack of integrity. Again very clean store and Im sure a fun place to play, but I wouldnt be able to be a return customer of an LGS that takes advantage of gamers like that.

I really love this place! They have a wide selection of comic books, role-playing games, collectible card games, miniatures, board games and collectibles. *whew* The store is clean and well-organized and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable.I had a great time playing at the Unstable release event with my 9 year old son. The Dork Den is the best gaming shop in Mankato, bar none. Im so glad to have this place active in Old Town!

If they do not have it, as authorized dealers, they can order it.There is a gaming area, food and beverages to purchase, and never ending activities.All in all, I give the Dork Den an A+, but stop on in and find out for yourself.

Brought nephew to upgrade his pokemon cards. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and environment was well layed out. There was also a side room where we could play games in. Definitely worth stopping by if you enjoy comics, board games, or trading card games.

The have a lot of supplies. The stay up to date with the new releases. The have a decent play area. The also have a denizens special which for 25$ one time charge gets you a discount for the entire year. So everything past 100$ spent over the course of the year will be savings.

This was my first visit and I must say I was very impressed ! Friendly and sexy staff were there to help with all my questions and took the time to explain the machanics of several board games to me .. With such a large selection to choose from I was torn between a half a dozen titles or more ! I finally settled on Stone age 10th anniversary addition and Im glad I did ..My 10 year old son picked up the rules pretty easily but the game has enough complexity to also be enjoyable for my 16 year old boy and myself . We have played it twice already and had tons of fun ! Even though I havent won one yet 😭😭😭.. I went there for the board games but they also have a ton of magic the gathering and pokrman cards (I also have tons of them ) and D&D and Warhammer miniatures (which I also have millions of ) .. I highly recommend this game shop for all your gaming needs ! If they dont have it Im sure they would be happy to get it for you . I will be back .. probably at least a hundred times !!

One does not need to be a dork to shop here but you can become a dorkian to get a nice discount. What can I use my discount? An excellent question from the person checking out this review. A massive selection of comic books, or magic the gathering cards or if you prefer, pokemon. There is an excellent selection of board games. Not sure which one is best for you; then just ask the very friendly staff. Even better, one can check out a game and try it out in there spacious gaming area.

I brought a lot of my bulk magic cards there and I took them in for trade and they did it in a very timely matter and I received a large amount of store credit which I use for other cards and board games...sooo bring the kids bring the fam play some games trade some cards

They have a section with out of print old role playing games. They also have a gaming room that had quite a few games going on when I was there. The selection of model making supplies isnt huge, but they have the hard to find necessities like liquid green stuff putty.

There is so much more to this place than just Magic Cards. It inspires interest for those who are just looking for a gift, friendly staff who will help guide you to a game depending upon your interest level, and enough space for regular board game nights, D&D gatherings, more. They even have a selection of used games for discount. Although Im not into Yu-gi-oh! or Pokemon TGC anymore, this place still hits the spot for diverse interests in games.

There have been many failed dork stores in Mankato over the years, but this one seems to be doing very well! I attribute it to the professional and extremely helpful staff as well as the awesome community of dorks there. These guys always have their shelves full of board games, comic books, miniatures, cards, all kinds of stuff. Theyre always hosting events to encourage like-minded dorks to meet each other, which gives us a real sense of community. Its really fun to just go and browse and hang out! I hope they stay in business for a very long time.

Best place Ive been to buy board games south of the cities.

This place serves as a major community hub for lots of folks into various forms of gaming, comic books, Pokémon, Dungeons and Dragons, and the like. Unlike almost every other business in town, theyre open well into late evenings, closing around ten, most nights.Aside from the main showroom, theres a large room with tables and chairs where scheduled events occur on a regular basis, and a room full of comic books, too. Theres a Pokémon Go gym located there, with lots of good spawns, coming and going, up and down both Riverfront Drive and the alley southeast that runs parallel to it.

Its a good gathering place for dork-dom. It has pretty wide tabletop selection, recent comic runs, and card games.I used to have beef with the GW product selection, but theyve really beefed it up since my last few visits.They do have a broad inventory of DnD miniatures/rulebooks and box games as well.
