I had a good experience with Scott, very knowledgeable about minis and an honest mechanic. His personality is very straight forward and direct, but he has a sense of humor.

This shop is well worth the drive, saved me $600 off a repair quoted by the dealership. Took 4 hours, that is $150/hour. Well worth your time. Also, very friendly and he has a loaner (an old bummer convertible, but the price is right --free). Just use Scott, hes an angel.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE. The owner Scott is an unreliable, dishonest, and very rude business person.Scott called and offered to buy my BMW. In the first conversation at 8:20am, after a little back and forth we agreed on a price. He asked for my bank account and routing number. At the time I was at a Starbucks and thought it prudent to google his business first to ensure it was legit and then provide the bank information from my home, not a public location. He encouraged me to return home, research his BMW business online to confirm he was who he said he was, and call him back. Seems reasonable enough...At 10:08am that same day, an hour and a half later, I called him back from my home and provided my bank account information. Scott congratulated me on selling my car in record time and told me he would take care of the wire transfer immediately. I proceeded to cancel other appointments to show my car.The next day I still had not received notice that the funds has been transferred or were even in process. I also had not received a call from Scott. I waited until that afternoon and called Scott back to ensure everything was in order. Scott proceeded to tell me that he didnt have my phone number so couldnt deposit the funds. (STRANGE because he originally called me the day before AND had a record of me calling him.) Regardless, I said it was not a problem and could provide my phone number to him again. Then he said, well because I wouldnt provide my bank information in the first call, he decided to not transfer the money.I was a bit confused...did he need my phone number? Was he canceling the deal? Why the irrational response to wanting to call him back an hour later? VERY strange and illogical, so I asked him why. He said called me back in the afternoon to tell me he didnt have my phone number for the bank transfer (how he knew what number to call to tell me that...hhmmm) and decided to renege on the agreement.Trying to help him feel more comfortable, I explained that I was in a public place and wanted the opportunity to google his business first (per his suggestion) at which point he told me not to be emotional and have a business conversation. At this point I am SUPER confused! Honestly I start wondering if this man has mental issues. I tried again to calmly, slowly, recap our interaction at which point he interrupts me and says F*** YOU! and hangs up!Please read the other 1 star reviews about this mans interpersonal and communication issues.

Mr Escher and his son take care of my Mini CooperS. He has a convenient place close to LaQuinta & Indio. It’s a funky place with objects d’art in his yard and trees. Don’t drive by, pull in. Scott is professional mechanic who knows his cars, he is not s rip off, is trustworthy, very reasonable rates. You won’t be dissappointed with his skills for serving your BMW or Mini Cooper.

I drove my 2013 BMW X5 from Portland to Palm Desert for Spring Break hoping my worn brake pads might last through the trip. Alas, when the warning lights went to permanent mode, I figured I probably shouldnt chance it.So, like many a lazy owner from out of town, I took it into the nearest dealership, BMW of Palm Springs. Very nice people. And custom-made lattes at your fingertips as you bask in their multi-million dollar overhead paradise. The diagnostic fee was $169, which they credit to your service work. 2.5 hours of waiting on my precious vacation time and finally the guy comes back and tells me I need brake pads AND rotors... front and back. Total estimate: $2,300. Ouch.At first I was so pissed and wanting to leave I said just go ahead and do it. But as I steamed in the faux-leather chairs watching the Golf Channel, I googled what one should pay typically for such a service. I knew $2,300 was way too high. Then I found Scott at Escher Autohaus in Indio. Google reviews were solid, Yelps too (other than a few typical grousers). Told him over the phone my situation and within five minutes, he checked parts pricing and called me back. He quoted me something a hair over $1,600. Ok, now that sounds more reasonable.Next morning, I drive out there. Not gonna lie: the place looks like something you might find in the middle of nowhere as youre driving down the Baja peninsula. And nothing but Bimmers (in various states of disrepair) in the lot. The place is old school, and I mean that in the best possible way. Scott ambled out from the garage to greet me. Wearing a plain t-shirt with the little BMW M series emblem. Superficial, I know, but he looked the part. Legit. A real car guy. I asked him how long hed been working on BMWs, and he told me about 30 years. Just a guy who loves the German engineering. His son came out to introduce himself as he tidied up the shop. Very friendly. Love the father-son team. A friendly cat jumped up on my lap while I waited for my ride to the golf course. I felt like I was in good hands here.As I walked up to the 18th green at a nearby golf course, I got the call from Scott. Car is ready to go. ON TIME AND UNDER BUDGET. Best words in the English language.Picked up the car, settled up... brakes working well. Feeling safe again. And feeling good that there are honest mechanics and businessmen who take pride in their work. If you like expensive lattes and getting your added kissed by nice people who want to fleece you from your hard-earned money, by all means find your local BMW dealer and enjoy.Otherwise, if you find yourself near Indio and you need good work done on your Beemer at a fair price, call Scott at Escher.

Can you be a BMW addict? My first experience lining up my emblem was on the Willow Springs track in Rosamond, CA. Ruined forever. Laguna Seca, OMG. These cars are amazing. Scott understands the thrill of a four-wheeled control slide through a corner. I drop off the car, relay my plans, i.e Vegas trip..., he makes sure Im not stranded on a back road. I notice every sound and change in my cars. He knows what I want and keeps them running like new, which keeps me happy. Now my kids are taking their cars here too.
