My favorite Shaved Ice in Oahu. I have tried many other places including places where people line up around the block but think this is the best. Big, really big, lots of syrup, and if you get it to go they give you the condensed milk on the side. My fave was Lilikoi and Blue raspberry plain (after various combinations of ice cream and condensed milk I found that my favorite was without anything). I didnt take photos that often but I was here frequently. The really big one is small and the smaller one Keiki (kids).

Awesome shave ice place! Tried several in and around Honolulu and this one is by far the best with a reasonable line.

If youve ever wanted a snow cone the size of your head, then this place is a must. The Mandarin Orange shave ice was unbelievable good. We all greedily inhaled our monstrously massive mountains of shave ice before heading off for our after lunch adventure. Definitely add this place to your trip plans.

Really good and crazy good price!! Mochii was soft and chewy, which is not easy to find. Will def be bringing my boys back here again!! Only reason I didnt do 5 stars is because parking is hard to find. The line can be long but please be patient with them theyre hand making it!

Melon, red raspberry, root beer, vanilla creme, Georgia peach...just to name a few great flavors. The sizes are huge. For 2 kids sizes, which are about as big as a 5 year olds head the cost is 11:50. Cash only. You can have custard added to the bottom of it,but you may never reach it.

This place was a fun visit - we popped by after visiting Bailey’s Aloha Shirts and Antiques. They only take cash but there is an ATM in the gas station across the street. They had really interesting flavors and it was fun to see the ice being shaved in front of you. The flavors “sank” a little bit more than other shave ice I’ve had, which left the top layer a little flavorsless after a couple of minutes, but otherwise the flavors themselves were really good.

First time on the island, and I absolutely enjoyed the unique flavors. They even have treats you can add to your eyes. I recommend the red velvet flavor and the root beer float (both contain milk as a heads up if you’re lactose). Very quick, efficient, clean/safe service. No seating currently due to covid.

Ive had shave ice before, but nothing like this! They allow up to 3 flavors per shave ice but be careful to match flavors accordingly. Their sizes are also huge and very affordable. The service was okay and as with most of the establishments in this area, the parking is limited and very tight so bring your a game. I had Root Beer, Kahlua and Coffee and enjoyed this paring very much. I will certainly be back before we leave to try some other flavors!

Favorite place to get shaved ice!

It seems slightly sweeter than the average shave ice. Served in a large heap with a selection of such unusual flavorings as green tea, green river (lemon lime), and add-ons like condensed milk. Maybe were just novices but everyone in my group had mishaps with the serving despite ordering the kids size. Highly recommend adding mochi to the bottom of your cone.

Went to this shave ice shop for Christmas Eve. My cone ended up falling onto the floor upon walking out of the shop. When I went back in to buy another, the girls were so sweet and offered to make me a new one- for free! They have amazing customer service. I was so impressed with the service that I had to write a review. The shave ice is great! I recommend getting it in a bowl so you’re cone doesn’t fall over onto the floor.

Was our favorite place for shave ice near Waikiki but they were “out of ice” the last time we went. We ran here with our kids and were really looking forward to that shave ice. Can’t trust them to have ice so what’s the point?

Ive never had shave ice like this. Must order: Ice cream in the middle, which my granddaughter assured me takes it to the next level (shes right). I had lychee, pickled mango, and passion fruit flavors. Its an enormous, special, shareable treat for just six bucks.

Just went today with my 3 sons and it was the best shaved ice weve ever had! The flavors were magnificent, the sizes of the icees are huge! 5 stars!!!

I must say that my first time eating shaved ice was coming here a few months ago and listen, it was actually really good. I am not big on these kinds of things but I actually liked it and the guy made it to perfection. Hope you have the same experience as I did if not better !

It’s an epic shave ice. Comes with different sizes, kid, small (which is pretty large actually!), bowl,” and X-large. You can add add-ons to bottom like muchi and ice cream. Then you can add three flavors, some of them are creamy. More than 50 different flavors. Cash only FYI.

If you want to try Hawaiian shave ice, this is a great place to come. The shave ices are huge, and they dont skimp on the syrup. Another plus is that the clientele is mostly local, so you know it must be a good place. Its right next to the Rainbow Drive-in.

I had their Kids size, and its honestly a bit larger than i was expecting. Delicious flavors and wonderful staff! I would highly recommend this to anyone in Honolulu.

We sampled many shave ice establishments on the island, and Shimazu was definitely our favorite. Their ice is so finely shaved, it’s like snow, and it holds the syrup really well (instead of it sinking to the bottom). So many flavors to choose from, and the portions are very generous—a small is huge and the large is enormous. If you go for the “Larry”, good luck! ;)

Awesome shaved ice spot for true light shaved ice. Low key and you can get delicious food right next door! Lots of flavor varieties. So good forgot to take a picture until halfway through!

Unfortunately the two times I tried this place I wasnt able to get anything. The first time the had ran out of ice around 3:30 pm. The second time I showed up around 11:30 and they werent open yet, but theyre advertised being open earlier. Customer service in that shop is not great.

Halo-halo with ube ice cream is the shizzle in my bizzle. The small size rainbow shave ice with vanilla ice cream is heaven in a plastic cone. Creamy poke and limu poke bowl with sushi rice hits the spot after the Diamond Head hike. Eat here!

Cash only shaved ice location near rainbow drive in. The shaved ice is crafted really well! A medium size is plenty but i had to go with the large since the perfect honolulu weather was calling. Will be back in 2k19

Hmmm I like the shaved ice but there is nothing so special about it though to be honest. Tried it once won’t try again.

Tried several, this is simply the best. Its not slush or ice pellets. Real shaved ice done the way it should. Small is large enough. Lots, I mean lots of incredible flavor choices. Forget waikiki by the beach, certainly worth the detour. True Aloha, kindly mahalo.

Little shop that serves HUGE shave ice. Can get up to 3 flavours per cup. The small size can easily serve 2-3 people. And they also have some tasty poke here as well.

The Dry Rub Ribs are divine, so tender and moist.

Ok who doesnt love massive shaved ice with delicious flavors. A large is for four people and Im not kidding. Order the $5 for two and you still wont finish it. The poke is also awesome. Getting both at one shop is magnificent we walked.there from the Hilton Waikiki rainbow tower so it was far still so necessary

Shave Ice was great, especially the orange cream. Sizes are absolutely massive. They nickel and dime you a bit with the cups but not a big deal. They get 2 stars because they only take cash. Once they start taking credit cards well come back.

This is a good location to get a shave ice. Flavors are good and variety is also big enough for everyone to find something they like. It shares its space with a restaurant that sells poke and other delicious dishes that are cheap but good.

Tried shave ice all over the island, including the best known ones, and this place is by far the best. The ice is the consistency of actual snow, the flavors are the best selection around, and youll swear they gave you a size larger than you asked for.

My first time in Oahu and I heard so much about the shaved ice. It definitely lived up to the hype. They have so many flavors that its hard to choose. The experience of having one of these is so worth it.

Original location was closed when I was back in town last so we came down to this location a bunch of times while we were home. Not the same vibe as school street location but the shave ice is still the best ever. The young guy doing the shave ice is great. No where else compares to shimazu! My uncle and dad did a shave ice tour of the island around 20 years ago and they decided on shimazu as the best- it still is!!

Syrup as good as in Frog Lane Original Shop and the texture of the shaved ice is marvelously light.The place is a little hard to find because it is located on a triangular lot next door to Rainbow Drive Inn. Entrance to a small (8 stall, I recall) parking lot is from Castle Street and is separate from the Rainbow Drive Inn lot which is next door, although there is a drive way providing access and egress into Rainbow Drive Inn from Castle Street. It is with a little take-away counter offering various plate lunches and the old KC Drive Inn waffle hotdogs.

A well-known classic. Cash only. FYI, the small size can easily feed two adults.They have 50+ flavored syrups to choose from. You can add red beans/ice cream/mochi for 75¢ each, but theyre not the main game here...just my purist opinion.

We ordered a small shaved ice (lychee/raspberry/guava trio) from Shimazu. They give a generous portion for a reasonable price. It was nice to have on a hot day though we could not finish our small.2/5 because the service was very terrible. Waited 5 minutes at the storefront to be served and yet when the employee arrived - he was neither apologetic nor helpful.It was our first time at Shimazu. There were a lot of flavour options on the menu. When we asked which the top flavours were - the employee said he couldn’t tell us (what does that even mean?).The ladies at the other counter serving plate lunch and poke seemed friendly and helpful but the Shimazu employee seemed as if he would rather be anywhere but there.

GIGANTIC sizes. Almost gimmicky how big they are, BUT the ice is still just as good! It does take a while to get the ice since there arent very many working, at least when I went.Parking may be a little tough, but the shop is in a great spot next to rainbow drive-in and leonards, so youll be able to tackle a few spots in one stop!

Love this place. Obviously, huge portions and delicious flavors with super fine ice that easily melts in your mouth. No chewing necessary! Creame flavors are amazing! Staff is awesone as well. Both kids dropped their ice on the floor and they gave us 2 more right away. No questions asked, no waiting in line, and best of all, on the house. Highly recommended.

I watched Matt Stone polished off the Larry and been waiting for my own chance to experience this place. Im a shaved ice connoisseur and have had all sorts of different types in the past. The texture of the ice at Shimazu is alot more fluffy than I had expected and softer than the typical shaved iced at other places. The syrup also has the perfect sweetness and not overly sweet. I shared the Larry with my 9 years old and 5 years old and surprised that we finished the whole thing (right after we all just had lunch next door at the Rainbow Driving, which is fantastic). I didnt feel stuffed, nor have any of heavy sugar aftertaste. Id eat this everyday if I could.

Pretty darn good shaved ice. CASH ONLY! I like the fast service and hard ice well prepared. The flavored ice I got were tropical combo which included guava, mango and passion fruit. Mango was the only flavor that tasted good or close enough to call it mango. Others were too sweet and felt like eating cough medicine with sweet flavor. But I will go back and try different flavors on a hot day bc there is nothing better shaved ice on a hot Waikiki day at the beach or to wash down the Kailua pork I just stuffed down my throat. One place you have to visit when you in Honolulu if you like shave ice. You have so many choice of flavors and taste you will never forget. There are two place you can visit . One on Castle street and one on School street.

A relatively new shave ice favorite. Shimazu Shave Ice on Castle street has the best variety of flavors. Always something unique to try that you wont see anywhere else.
