Local mom and pop joint that makes some of the best snow ice in the state. Very reasonable prices. I usually stay low key and get the fruit teas and Thai tea, but my friend loves the Mud Pie snow ice, seen here. Definitely recommended, especially in these economically challenging times for these small businesses. Please help spread the word and Aloha! π€π
Keep an eye out when you are looking for this place because it hidden away in a small little plaza but soooooo worth it. The owners are so nice and try to keep the place so clean. My wife and I love it here. Check out the portion sizes. So good! I got the watermelon-lychee frost regular sized. And she got the mango-coconut in a small. Would rate 6 stars if I could.
I never liked shaved ice. The artificial flavor, the artificial color, and the clumpy ice was not something Iβd like to eat. But my husband and a friend convinced me to come to Frostcity. And Iβm loving it. They used fresh fruits. There was no crunchy ice. It was smooth as silk. Shaved ice cream. Iβve never had anything like this. If I wasnβt leaving already, Iβd come back for a different flavor. They all looked so good.
Truly Taiwanese Style π₯° Their Taiwanese Snow Ice are delicious. The owners are kind and thoughtful. A cute shop to enjoy. While there, we enjoyed Black Currant Snow Ice, Strawberry & Lychee Snow Ice, Taro Ball Soup and Super Fruit Mix Tea. So Refreshing on a hot day. Will definitely be returning for more πβ€οΈπ
Best Taiwanese style shave ice on the island, or on the planet! We were here at least a dozen times over the course of two months. Family owned place, the owners are very sweet, work extremely hard and you can tell they care about their customers. I wish there was a Frostcity in Los Angeles because I miss it very much!!
Small mom and pop shop that makes the best snow ice around. Desert at its finest
Absolutely amazing! I cannot comprehend this wizardry! Best shave ice Ive ever had. Friendly service also. I highly recommend it!
Absolutely amazing! My sister has been searching for fluffy ice cream/shave ice this good since we visited Vegas! Very pleased with this late night discovery
Nice restaurant atmosphere, pleasant staff, great food. The portion sizes are also huge. Would highly recommend.
Super delicious. Highly recommend this place. The shaved ice is refreshing and light. So good!
Ive loved this place for a long time. I thought for a long time what dessert would beat this place. Combed through a few 3 star Michelin places and nope, I would still rather have a lilikoi frost w mochi, popping bubbles, strawberry and mango. Light and totally satisfying.
Cute little shop for delicious shaved cream ice flavors! I had the chocolate mint, and it was so delicious! They add sliced fruit, rainbow jelly, fruit boba, mochi, and even a white chocolate filled wafer tube! O bought the large size, but a mini is also available. They also have all kinds of mochi soups!
Best shave ice ever! Not too sweet just perfect . And owners are really nice π
OMG best shave ice. Feels like ice cream when it first enters your mouth then just melts a cloud! Amazing.
They use real tea in the rose oolong ice tea 10/10Best watermelon smoothie ive had 10/10The snow dessert is extremely fine and melts in your mouth instantly 10/10
This place is a Secret Heaven for Shave Ice...the best in Oahu...its not in a touristy place, may be the locals wanted this treasure for themselves...if u r in Oahu do try this out, the flavors r so natural and home made...the flakes of the shave ice melts in a second on ur tongue and yummmm....enough said. Chocolate and Coconut combo s my fav. But they do have a lot of seasonal flavors n other desserts worth a try...
Imagine eating watered down icecream, just bland and tasteless and paying 10$ for it. Well that was Frostcity, bland tasteless icy water cream, next to unripend fruit, Mochi, and toppings. My cookies and cream tasted like frozen milk sprinkled with some stale oreos crust. I do not understand all the good reviews, you are better going to Baskins Robins and saving 5 dollars. And diffinatly Ben And Jerrys, or Coldstone Creamery, Leaps and Bounds better!
A great stop for cool and warm desserts, from soft mounds of shave ice with fresh fruit and boba bubbles to βsoup dessertsβ - steaming hot bowls of lightly sweet βsoupsβ such as black sesame. Youβll want to add a mochi ball or two just for fun - and bring a friend because the servings are substantial.
My daughter loooooooooooooovvvveeessss Frostcity! Like wants it to be her boyfriend and marry it kind of love! Shes 8-years old so you know this is serious and those two kids are going to make it. But seriously, my kid is obsessed with this place and anytime we are anywhere in the vicinity of Frostcity, her kid dessert radar kicks in and she is begging to come here.People wonder whats the difference between Frostcity and shave ice, but theyre completely different. Frostcity is a cross between shave ice and soft serve, and thankfully not as sweet! For the fruit flavors they use fresh fruit which somehow lessens my guilt for eating a large by myself! My daughter likes cookies and cream, but Im not a fan. I prefer lilikoi or mango because the tanginess of the fruit really adds a punch to the flavor of the ice. You can get a small or regular size, but you may as well go big because its not much more in terms of cost and the dessert is very light. Im not sure how many calories is in one of their desserts but if you ever find out please do not tell me. I dont want to know and would rather live in a world where a large Frostcity dessert is only 100 calories. Mind over matter I always say!Staff is always really nice and I love that they have lots of board games to choose from. We played a round of Candyland in which my daughter attempted to cheat 14 different times and I realized she might grow up to be a criminal mastermind. Frostcitys small shop is located on the bottom floor of a two story building, right past the intersection of University and S King Street. If you dont know where it is you can easily pass the driveway, and if youve hit the Jiffy Lube, youve gone too far! The one thing that might deter you from visiting Frostcity, like anything in Moiliili, is the parking! The lot was full on this recent visit, but supposedly there is parking in the Varsity lot. Take a little stroll to Frostcity, we think its worth it! But dont marry it, because hes spoken for, ya hear?!
We just happened to be stopped at a food truck in North Shore when a gentleman joined us at the table. Started talking and shared we were headed for shaved ice later. He told us we have to stop at Frostcity. We went to our original destination but found time to swing by here. It won the battle of shaved ice hands down! Now we are headed to the airport but made one more stop before going. Dont miss this place. Passion fruit frost is....delish!!!!! Wish I could put this place in my luggage and take them back to Orlando with us!!
Amazing taste. Very special. The only thing which made me sad is the fishtank. Poor fish inside looks super sad and water evaporated almoust the half way. OWNER PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POUR MORE WATER IN IT, and throw some plants in it. The rest was absolutely great experience. The girl at the register was super helpful and sweet. Great job on the service and cleanliness.
The store was warm and the wait for our order was long. Shaved ice was good.
Great place with an innovative type of Ice Cream - in a Neighbourhood thats slightly away from the center. The place is run by a really friendly lady, who is helpfull and welcoming when it comes to choosing the ice cream. I had the Mango Snowice in a regular size. It was around 7 USD, but it was indeed a *very* large portion - and delicious. Never have I eaten something like this before, my world has truly been rocked. One word of caution for unassuming tourists like myself - the walk from Waikiki beach is only 30 to 45 mins by foot, so its easily reachable. However, do note that this is a very different area from the touristy paradise directly at the beach. On the way, you will pass roads with high amount of traffic, several groups of homeless people living in tents etc. This is not to say that I ever felt unsafe in the area - its just to caution to walk perhaps a little less carefree, as you might tend to do in Kalakaua Avenue. This review was part of my #AlohaLeandro series of reviews during my Hawaii trip -> search for the hashtag to find them all!
PACKED WITH FLAVOR! My familt and I shared the mango/strawberry and Chocolate/Haupia both size small. Each were so flavorful tasting exactly like their true flavors should be. The small size was perfect as 5 of us shared the 2 and it was plenty enough for us all. The mochi on this dessert is also so ono. Some of the best mochi Ive ever had. The last item on their menu I tried was the Jasmine milk tea with Boba. This milk tea packed a punch! The Jasmine was very apparent and in your face. I loved it! First timer here and Ill definitely come back. If youre indecisive of what dessert place you want to try, stop your search here. This place doesnt disappoint!
We tried the lychee/watermelon combo- Refreshing and delicious! Love the mocha and fruit toppings they include.
All I can say is wow Ive had shaved ice in many other places but hands down this is the best and they have such a wonderful variety Ice flavors
The frost at this place is unreal!!!! So light and pillowy in your mouth. The texture is crazy! And really big portions-the small is more than enough for two people. We got the Nutella and the peanut butter and jelly and both were super yummy. She adds boba and fresh fruit around it making it the yummiest dessert. A must go in Honolulu.
Homemade, fresh fruit-based icecream shaved and heaped high on the plate with homemade popping boba, mochi and pieces of fresh fruitβ¦ mouth-watering good. And I mean, REALLY GOOD! Actually, make that AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. We started with 3 regular sized frosts for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and by popular demand, we got a 4th one after inhaling those 3. Highly recommend the βfancyβ flavors, which are local fruit based: Thai basil/coconut/pineapple, lilikoi and mango were all hits with us. We had to go back a second time.
This is the best cold dessert Iβve ever had. I could eat this 24/7. If I could I would give it 6 stars. Itβs so cool how it is frozen but melt in your mouth. The best thing ever you must try it, it so good.
Best shave ice ever. Sooooo soft
Simply put...the shaved ice was among the best we had on our 8 day trip on Oahu. Is it the best? I dont know and I certainly not the person to make that call. But I can tell you that we were happy we made the trip to Frostcity. It is easy to drive past the place since the parking lot sort of looks like a parking lot for the hotel around it. But your GPS will take you right there just make sure to slow down when it tells you you have arrived. I had raspberry and coconut shaved ice with in-house mochi, pineapple, strawberry and lychee. It was amazing!
Best shave ice Iβve had here!
I had the Super fruit tea - excellent! Lots of easy parking too.
Maaaan yall gotta try this place, not playing around when I say it is a unique spot. Got the Strawberry&Mango Combo Frost. Highly recommend!
20 stars !! The Thai basil and MANGOOOOO GO MANGO GOOO everyone needs this
Good frost with mochi and fruit toppings
Servings were huge thought we werenβt going to able to finish but load and behold all gone!
A quaint dessert option run by a friendly family with a multitude of flavors made from real ingredients. This place is a gem!
Best mochi ever!!
Small, Quaint, Friendly atmosphere! Highly recommended if you love shaved/frost ice!
Best experience ever! Never have we had frost style ice cream, and so far the best meal we had on Oahu. If you visit, this is a must!
Fresh minty shave ice, amazing
Delightfully refreshing, delicious & different. Wide variety of flavors. Beautiful, impressive presentation.
Forsure a must try spot. Great customer service highly recommend it if your looking for a refreshing dessert π¨
Parking is smaller than ideal, but that doesnt take away from the shaved ice! Not too sweet and not just ice...it was just the right amount of flavors. The sides around the plate included popping boba, mochi, fruit, and lychee which balanced out all the flavors. Def a must try if you are in the area.
Vietnamese style deserts and soups. Tried the oreo frosty with mochi. π
Wuz cool.
DELICIOUS....Excellent service!
Bettet than shave ice. Nice flavor not overwhelming and very light.
Such a cool vibe. We took the whole family, 7 people total, the youngest 8 yrs old up to this old dude. Everyone loved their choice. And the price wasnt too expensive either, we got out of there for under 40 bucks, not too bad for specialty desserts. I tried a honeydew shake thing, very yummy. Loved the board games available, we played Spot It and the other game I cant remember. We could walk there so I cant say much about parking, but there is a decent sized parking lot right in front. And its Moiliili/Pucks Alley area, so there is decent street parking opportunities within walking distance. Great experience!
This is a real shave ice discovery. The ice is so fine its like powder snow in the mountains. Pair this with the multitude of syrups and fruit and other confections and there are thousands of possible combinations. Cant wait to revisit the next time were in Honolulu. Theres a parking lot in front but its tricky to make a left turn from King Street.
The whole family enjoyed every bite. If you are visiting Hawaii like we are I highly suggest you try this. You donβt see this type of ice cream anywhere!
Super fast and very friendly service. I just got a watermelon frost and it was very good. I am assuming that it is just frozen watermelon that is shaved?? Thats what it tasted like anyway. Very fresh! It was a hot day, so this was very refreshing and yummy! I didnt love this as much as Shave ice, but it was still very good. Parking is a little tight with only a few spots, but it was ok when we got there. I enjoyed mine. π
Yes! This has to be THE Best shave ice place. Someone took me here. Doesnt look like any good on the outside. Doesnt look like much on the inside. But tastes wonderful. They dont just shave ice and pour some syrup on top. Instead they freeze juices and shave those (at least thats what it tastes like) and the presentation is beautiful. Again, its a casual in-out place in an uninspiring setting, but top-level shave ice.
Good light dessert, especially when its hot outside. Basically its shaved ice cream? Lots of interesting flavors and they change it up often. The lot is a little small but theres also some street parking in the surrounding area. Its a pretty quick turnover too once you order so lot empties out regularly, just gotta hope you catch it at a good time.
Unique, quality flavors, snow ice shop. Flavors are made from natural products, incorporated into the ice itself. Obvious high attention to their yummy offerings. The delectable desert soups are not readily found elsewhere Honolulu. Odd location, but easy to get to and often easy parking because its often the only late open shop in its mini mall near UH.
Delicious ribbon ice. I got Lychee-Mango. The space was tight, a lot of people, so the wait was kind of long for my food(but delicious!)

This quaint little establishment served a rather challenging yet satisfying shave ice selection. With playful, yet simple flavours and a wonderful assortment of board games. Frostcity truly is the place to get FROST in the CITY. Service was great, delicious!
