Alan and his staff are always friendly and treat you fairly. Alan will tell you if something is worth fixing and what options exist. Ive been going to Kaimuki Auto since 2011 and actually look forward to taking my car in, which is saying something since Im not really into car stuff. The only downside is they are always busy so you need an appointment, even for an oil change. This is just a testament, though, to their good work because people (myself included!) are willing to wait, when it would be faster to go elsewhere. It feels good to know you can trust them.

Safety Check! I was one of the last-minute fools, one day prior to the end of the month. None of my formerly trusted service centers were taking appointments. Myles and the team here were remarkable in their service and professionalism despite the heavy demand of so many others seeking safety checks. I wasnt going to post a review until they scratched my car and didnt feel the need to say anything about it. I had an appointment and was 5 minutes early and still ended up waiting an extra hour past my appointment time for them to do a simple oil change. Theyre disorganized and would stop talking to me when I was just trying to pay to help someone else. The owner talked down to me the whole time saying I probably didnt know about the repairs they wanted to do because Im young. I tried to go to them because theyre in a convenient place and I like to support local businesses but I wont be back.

I had to help my dear elderly friends husband to get their Safety Check done. Apparently, because they are elderly, it was a fiasco to try to get it done as it was expired but not only that, the registration was expired too and they misplaced the insurance card.The car couldnt pass inspection there the week or two before and so a family member tried to resolve the issues. It was taken care of. They had gone on their own last week and got lost at Ala Moana and forgot where they parked their car.After hearing their ordeal, I decided, that I better go and help them as they need to get this done! Picked them up and was told to go to Ala Moana satellite office but found out that we had to take care of the issue first to get the safety check otherwise, they cannot register the car. So took them home to get their car and went to Kaimuki Auto to show that the issue was resolved. ALAN at the shop was SUCH A GEM and a HUGE HELP!!!!!! He was SO SO kind. He saw that I could use some help with the elderly man and he took care of our paperwork quickly. He even gave me some advice which really cut down on my time. Went back to Ala Moana and it was ALL taken care of with ALL the issues connected to this car and went back to Kaimuki. If Alan didnt help me, my day with them would have been at least 6 hours total or longer. I was EXHAUSTED! But Alan, BLESS YOU and THANK YOU for not ignoring me and brushing me off because that could have been done easily since YOU GUYS ARE SO CRAZY BUSY there and your SPACE there is so limited. I dont understand how an auto repair shop cant have a car towed to the location even if they cant start working on it until the next day. So if you break down, you have to get towed to another place and then towed again when they have availability. So if you can wait a few days and drive the car, this place might work for you, but if you need a tow, this isnt the spot for you.

This service station is always busy but very efficient. When they do a safety check it is complete legitimate. If I am paying for an inspection I want to get something for my money, and this place does that. Highly recommended.

Went for safety check and had the benefit of sitting in the office when the owner received a phone call. He did some trouble shooting over the phone. It was clear the other person was a mechanical novice but he explained what was going on in a very laymans term way, recommended some other options to that owner that would save that person money and offered to look over the vehicle if that person came down. Integrity in an automotive service shop. Who knew this still existed.My safety check was done quick and efficiently. Entire staff was courteous and very helpful.Highly recommend this location to anyone that wants the assurances of a good, honest repair shop!

I got my safety check done here. It is first come first serve for safety checks, but the correct technician has to be on shift so dont just drop in anytime theyre open. Service was prompt, helpful, and straightforward. Make sure to call ahead and check when the safety guy is in.

I didnt get any repairs but when vehicle inspection time comes around they are always available. The people are nice there and they give good service. The place is always busy, or at least most of the time which is an indicator that this is a good business. The location is good but there isnt a lot of space on the property for parking. It doesnt matter though its still a good place to get your car inspected or probably repaired.

As someone that ran a car dealership in my career. Alan and his team at Kaimuki Auto are the most attentive, well trained, and friendly group I have encountered. Not all mechanics are out to get you. I went in to recharge the AC on my Camry. They diagnosed the problem was most likely to be a compressor issue and thoroughly explained the symptoms based on the high and low pressure reading. It is always nice to visit Allen he and his family are helpful nice welcoming and most importantly the mechanics know what they are doing. I truly believe its because of who is running the place is a reflection of their workers I recommend them over anyplace else to get your car repairs and to do regular service.

The staff that work here are terribly rude and treat any customer who is a) a woman or b) is not local very poorly. If you feel like wasting hours of your life trying to get your car inspected and instead, just sit around getting disrespected this is the place for you.

Someone here mentioned busy and unorganized; I must disagree. These folks work as a team and are very efficient at moving jobs in and out. They are also customer-oriented, with good customer communication as well as a few places to sit and some snacks and drinks on sale for while you wait. A neighborhood business that I am happy to support!

Alan and his crew over at Kaimuki Auto Repair have something special going on. I took my car there because the belt broke and the warranty didnt cover anything rubber. They open at 6 in the morning, which is very convenient because I needed to drop my wifes car off at the shop, take my wife to work, then head to work myself. Upon dropping off the car, I was greeted by Alan. I was surprised at how friendly he was at such an early hour. He walked me through what they would do and ensured that they would call if they discovered anything else. About an hour and a half later I got a call from him informing me about a seized water pump that caused the broken belt. He gave me all my options and even told me to check my warranty. Fortunately, the car was still under warranty. Unfortunately, the dealership wouldnt let me get the car fixed anywhere other than their specific locations. Alan was more than happy to guide me along the process even though his shop wouldnt be getting business by fixing my vehicle. I needed to get my car towed from his shop to the dealership. Alan personally moved my car to an ideal location for the tow truck and one of his workers parked my other car so we could wait for the tow truck. I was shocked at how kind and friendly everyone was that worked there. Their repair shop was clearly busy, but they still took the time to give me personal attention. I was disappointed that I could not get my car repaired with them, but I will undoubtedly take my vehicles back to Kaimuki Auto Repair in the future!

Discussed the issue prior to coming, insisted that I talk to a supervisor to make sure that I will be served, though I was told that it was not necessary. Wasted over 3 hours all together only to be told that I couldnt be serviced. Not even an apology for their misinforming me. They advised me that I could only go with the original warranty and that they could not service me, however, that was not accurate. They simply did not wanted to help me prove that my brand new car is a lemon.

I called to purchase 2 tires. Worker told me she can order them with same day delivery. Still waiting for a call back to see if tires was delivered. Its been two weeks.

I brought my car in for repairs and a temporary safety check on a Saturday afternoon. No one contacted me at all about what was the problem nor what repairs were needed. When I called in, I was told a mechanic was looking at it now, and someone would call me Tues. Tues came and went, still no call. I called in again and was given the same story - mechanic looking at it now. Tues evening I found my car parked in public parking on Waialae Ave with the hood unlatched. With expired safety, it had been left parked where the car could be ticketed for DAYS and nothing had been done. I drove the car to another repair shop with the spare keys and let the owner know that I wouldnt have left the car with him if he had been honest and told me he wouldnt be able to even assess what repairs were needed for a half week. Next afternoon, I get messages on my phone that they were going to call HPD to report the car as stolen. My car was fixed in a single day at another repair shop. Kaimuki Auto Repair had poor organization, terrible follow up, and lacked honesty during the entire ordeal. I will not be going there for my auto repair needs again.

A few years ago, I tried this place. When I got there, another customer walked up to me and shared how good this place was for her. Very unusual and it turned out to be very true for me. Expertise, integrity, competitive prices... I love it.I have been taking my vehicles here for repairs ever since. The mechanics, staff, and customer service is excellent. Dont bother going here if you are haole or do not speak pidgeon.You will get attitude and not have any questions answered, like prices or details of any work done. Took my vehicle here and the apparent owner Alan was rather unfriendly. I figured maybe it was just not his day, and my car was already at his shop. When I went to pick it up, the bill was a higher price then I was quoted, much higher. Ok, but Id appreciate knowing why the big difference in price. A simple explanation would do, its only fair. Well, he got irritated very quickly and kept trying to stall me out. Very unprofessional. I never did get a satisfactory answer. This is a small neighborhood, and Ive heard similar experiences from other residents who previously used this shop. Since then Ive learned there are other shops in this area that are more transparent with their pricing and value ALL their customers. You can check them online. Poor customer service + Non-transparent pricing = NO repeat business.
