Went ito purchase tires but Fernando was very rude and had a very nasty attitude. I usually purchase all my tires from Pepboys but the level of service while I was just trying get new tires made me decide to go to another tire shop around the corner. Idk what happen to there level of service just horrible customer service.

Made an appointment and when I got there the service dept. Said theyre running and hour or more behind schedule due to employees not showing up etc. My beef is the fact that they cant/ wont take a few minutes and notify the next few appointments that they are behind and reschedule them an hour or so later as not to inconvenience the customer with an extra amount of wait time. The service dept. Wouldnt give me an answer as to why they wont make the call to notify the next few appointments to reschedule an hour later. Un-acceptable!! Customer care Should be number 1 !!

So this morning as we are walking in for a alignment appointment we are waiting patiently for someone to acknowledge us and let us know they will be with us it takes them almost 20 mins to say a simple hello we will be with you in a moment now me being a advisor for a multi billion dollar company myself customer service is everything. There is no reason it should take this long to acknowledge anyone while standing there welcome when they have a 10am appt time. I understand that sometimes it make take a little longer do to delays but I’m huge on customer service and the check in process takes too long. Now I will see how well this alignment is I have asked them each time to make sure the steering wheel is straight but we shall see how this will go

Great service but was a long wait and they didnt put center cap back on and I had to call if not I wouldve never got them. Tire service needs to be a little better on letting people know if they couldnt get it back on they should have told me and like I had to anyway put it on myself. Went to ask about cap technician had it and service guy just handed it to me did not say sorry and didnt go out it on like I would e expected out of a good quality service center.

I dropped off my car on Monday they said it would be a few days then called me to say they could get to them and that I should bring them to VW but made assumptions that I bled the breaks, after informing them that the breaks were changed they said they wouldn’t be able to get to my car until next Wednesday. Which is ridiculous being that I dropped it off on Monday. Then after I said I would come get it they couldn’t find my keys. Very unprofessional and I’m tired of places taking advantage of women when it comes to cars. When my father just brought his vehicle up there for an oil change. It’s unacceptable

This was a terrible experience I bought my car in to have four tires put on, have the wheel alignment and have the valve stems replaced. unfortunately all of one thing happened my tires was replaced only. they didn’t do the valve stems because he said it was a company policy but he could not show me in writing.. then I was charged for a wheel alignment but never got it because play in the inner tire rod that needs replace I told him all of this was recently replaced. So I went across the street at Firestone and got everything done .. those people at Pep Boys are liars and they’re lazy.

Yesterday is when I decided I would never use pep boys again. Tuesday night as I was heading in to work my tire popped and I made a terrible decision and got it towed to pep boys (I had no spare tire). After work I got to Pep boys as soon as they open (7:30 am) let them know what had happened and that I mostly likely would need a new tire. They take my key and say they should be done with it that day. They call me later (2pm) and tell me ordering the tires would take a day for them to come in. Ok, I let them keep my vehicle over night, I get there first thing when they open up Thursday morning. What I did not know and wasn’t informed was that the tires would not be in till noon. I wait until the tires come in, and then I receive a call “your tires are in, when would you like to bring your car in”. They acted as if they did not know that I had been waiting in there store since that morning. After I told them that my car had been in there possession since yesterday and I have been in the store waiting since they open, They said they would work on it as soon as possible, they just need one area to open up. As I sat and watched several cars get worked on and exit and enter the garage, I go to the front and ask “when is my car going to get worked on”. They ask me what my name is as if they hadn’t seen me in there most of the day. They didn’t start working on my car til 3 pm. I got two tires changed, they kept my car for almost 2 days, and it was app. 350 dollars +30$ to evaluate it. Mind you I have a Hyundai Accent (small car), this was highway robbery. There was no order in that place. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but I value my time and they could have gotten things done much faster. The tires could have been ordered first thing weds morning, I was the first customer there on weds morning. Never again!

This is a shady operatiom.If I could give this no stars, I would.They upsell without telling you, by including services in with other services, and not informing you of it.You wont know if a service was performed, and that you were charged, until youve already paid, and read the itemized receipt.

Made an appointment online two days ago for state inspection. Website never mentioned that some states do not accept appointments for this service. Instead I get called 30 mins before my appointment to tell me I can drop it off for overnight. Considering I drive my car for a living I can’t do that. How about calling people atleast 24 hours ahead of time so they can go somewhere else. Don’t recommend this place to anyone. Definitely never going to a pep boys again.

If I could give them no stars I would. My experience was horrible. This is the second time Ive been to pep boys and theyve broken something off my car and then tried to blame it on me. I went for two tires, sat waiting in the lobby for 3 hours. After sitting for 3 hours, I finally decided to leave and just go home and wait for a call. Two hours went by, no call. I went back to see whats going on, they lie about calling me, the time they called, then informed me that a stud was broken off while changing my tire. The stud was not broken when I dropped my car off, but of course they want to blame it on anyone they can so they wont have to fix what THEY BROKE. I will never go here again and I wouldnt recommend anyone else go either.

If I could give zero stars by all means I would. I went in for a simple tire replacement because it was flat. It took two and a half hours and I asked initially how long it would take and was told half an hour. On top of that what took so long is they got confused with another individuals vehicle. Never going back once my warranty is up on my tires.

I came in last minute without an appointment or scheduleing in advance and my car was pulled in right away to be worked on. He definitely cares for his customers and loves to help others. I live 40 minutes from this location and my daughter was heading back to college on Sunday. As she was packing her car we discovered a nail in her tire. I called and spoke with Fermando at 5:15 (they close at 6 on Sunday) and he said bring it in. We got there at 5:40, he had the paperwork ready, took the keys and pulled it in back. Long story short, by 5:50, we were out the door and she was on her way to school. Fermando made her his priority even though they were prepping to close and I’m sure he had a long day and was ready to go. I would definitely recommend the Hampton location to anyone. Thank you.

I had a tough situation, and needed a new tire ASAP. I had my car towed there overnight and then waited part of today for it to get fixed. I was really impressed with Patrick and his service ability! I called a lot as I was anxious to get back on the road, and he showed immense patience and kindness. My tire didn’t cost much, and they got me back on the road quickly. I know that a tire shouldn’t take very long, but their shop was extremely busy, and I didn’t mind the wait, knowing that they were doing their best.Thank you Patrick, and the rest of the team!

14.99 for a battery install. I knew it would be more as the website states an additional 38.70 since my battery is under the wheel well. Got told 62 at the desk when checking in... 1 hour after arriving I get told its gonna be 203... I leftEdited: 2/13/2021. Got an email on Monday, 2/8/2021 asking if I wanted a phone called within in 48 hours. I replied yea and gave them my phone number. Its been 5 days still no call. Their online service is just as bad as their in store service.

Tire replacement near me included a new tire mounting, wheel balance and peace of mind when bringing in my Pontiac tire to be replaced same day. Excellent customer service, I spoke with Valencia on the phone who was very helpful in locating the tire I needed. Was able to swing by for that 225/50/18 tire 20 min later. Alvin was very professional and helped educate me on the road hazard warranty which I now have if I need to replace this tire in the future, thanks again Alvin. Zack was the speedy mechanic who got me in and out the door in 20 minutes on a Monday at 3 in the afternoon I give this place mad props, very helpful. Nice to walk around the very large auto parts and accessories part of the store too while you wait, they have everything car related to look at while your vehicle is getting worked on. Thank you guys again

I checked into service counter about 2 pm, was advised hour and 30 min pull in. I asked an associate about 5 pm how much longer and was told next in line. I asked a few minutes later about the time and 10 minutes later an associate comes over and says they dont think they are gonna get to service mt car today. I asked well is there a manager, he says he is the manager and his name is patrick. I proceeded to ask well being the manager you should have been aware of everything going on in the area? He says well i am only the assistant. So immediately i am very upset and say why would you lie to a customer! Patrick says he did lie and what do i want him to do? I am very, very upset and think this customer service should not be tolerated!

The employees are nice. However it is a waste of time to make an appointment because you will still wait several hours for scheduled service. The waiting area is in dire need of being cleaned. Trash and bugs should not be present in a customer waiting area.

Had an appointment but they still took 2 1/2 hours to change tires out and then forgot to change the sensors over. Another 3 hour wait just to switch the sensors the next day. They take their sweet time. Don’t recommend.

I am truly appreciative of the team in this location especially Jay. The car only had a couple of issues; however, it was a hidden issue that did not show its ugly face until after having to take the car back up there three times. To an ordinary person, when you pay to have something fixed... we want to be done with it, and when it’s not we get frustrated. In all my frustration, the team continued deliver & figure out what was going on. I’m 100% sure it was just as frustrating to them... but they still prevailed. What makes it even more satisfying is that, they kept my coins in mind. We aren’t talking about no oil change or breaks/rotors... we are talking about Compressor & Radiator replacements... Jay was outstanding and very patient with me and that speaks to his professionalism and his passion in what he does. I haven’t had an issue since. Jay, Danny & Daniel saved my car, my wallet, and my last nerve. The integrity, transparency, & accountability in these three men are amazing and rare! I’d recommend this shop to anyone!

He explained what he did professionally but where a “non-mechanic” person would understand. I tried to call the manager about this incident, couldnt get anyone on the phone.I went there Monday 7/27/2020, as Im in the store I hear a voice loud screaming Hey you, Hey you I look up, I see its a employee, so I think she is talking to a fellow employee or another customer in line. I never (ever) gave a public review before for bad service, I usually just chalk it up and get over it, but In this case, if I can save just one person from wasting their time and money at the Hampton PEP BOYS, I will feel there is some justice out of my experience. I took/drove my vehicle (Audi Q7) to pep boys in Hampton Thursday morning 6/20 to diagnose a small coolant leak, (literally drops on the ground and I saw the coolant level was a little below the minimum, which I topped off with water.I Drove and dropped off my vehicle Thurs 6/20, in the morning.Friday evening 6/21, was the first call I received, (two full days, for a coolant diagnostic before they called me) the manager Rebecca, advised me that my coolant pipe needed to be replaced before they can even test it, because the leak was too bad.With that statement, Im thinking to myself thats odd, they cant do a pressure test through a few drops of coolant??At this point, I didnt trust them, I arrived at pepboys within the hour, to take it to an establishment I was more comfortable with. I paid the $40 for the diagnostic fee, Rebecca handed me my key. I went to my vehicle, I popped the hood to make sure the coolant level was at Max and I saw water spraying from two places, the engine and the radiator hose (which was completely disconnected and just sitting on top of the engine) the water drained out within seconds, (meaning that they just put water in it before I got there) THIS WAS NOT THE CONDITION THEY RECEIVED MY TRUCK..I would have never been able to drive it in the condition it was now in. I ensured the coolant level was at Max before I drove the 10 mins, there were no low coolant warnings and the coolant needle was between the H and C, never going close to the H, like it has been for years, also no visible leaks in the spot I was parked in at pep boys.I complained immediately to one of the mechanics, (well, someone with a pep boys shirt) that this was not the condition they received my vehicle and I should have been able to drive it out like I drove it in..Rebecca never advised me the truck was now undrivable. If I didnt check under the hood, I would of had bigger issues than coolant. Rebecca convinced me that coolant pipe repair/replacement (1000.00) should fix the issue (with a C. Y. A. DISCLAIMER about if it overheated and damaged something else, they were not responsible). I know for a fact my truck never over heated in my care). With my truck in that condition, it couldnt be driven and to avoid extra tow fees, I authorized the repair.6 days later, Wednesday 6/26, I received a call that my truck was ready for pick up, I was advised it was tested and there was no more leaks.After retrieving my vehicle, I reached home (10 Mins away).. with the exact issue I took it in for, coolant leaking in the EXACT same driveway spot. I let the engine cool, checked the coolant, and again, below minimum. THIS IS THE EXACT ISSUE I HAD BEFORE THE DIAGNOSTIC but at this point the leak was worst than when I took it in. (More than drops)I called pep boys, advised Rebecca my issue wasnt fix..she advised me to drop it off again. I had it towed back to them Thursday 6/27 morning (to decrease my liability). (No call or updates for the entire day)I called Friday 6/28 morning and was informed by the manager Rebecca, the leak could be coming from the super charger and it will be almost 600.00 more just to diagnose it. After I just spent 1000.00 the day before and they also charged me 75.00 extra for the labor warranty?? Rebecca advised if it happened while it was with them, they would have been able include it in the repair, but driving it 10 mins away AFTER they said it was good, They will not do anything to help me (in a very nasty/nice attitude and tone. ReNow Im back at my original issue which is now worst, $1300 out of pocket for repairs that only corrected their mistake, a Rent-A-Car, a entire week of time wasted, and my original issue has not been touched. this is unacceptable!Full COMPLAINT with the BBB/Yelp

Absolutely horrible! Me and my wife are expecting a child soon and we were having slow leaks in our back tires due to punctures from rocks. I took my car there yesterday afternoon to get three tires changed. Following day and an employee said he only ordered 1 tire and that the damage was do to dryrotting A LIE! This was said so that my insurance which covers punctures would not cover the tire. IT WAS NOT THOROUGHLY EXAMINED. I was told that my tire was to arrive at 1pm and it just got put on at 5pm. This is so embarrassing for this establishment. I never had these issues with the military highway location. Im not even going to MENTION THE TIME WHEN i went for a oil change and they gave me Pennzoil instead of mobile one! My insurance flagged this place and Im going straight to corporate.. AGAIN

I dropped my car off a noon on Sunday slow leak in my left front tire. 5 1/2 hours later they said I had a screw in the right one and a nail in the left one which was ok . But then they told me that I had to buy a new one for the left side. . That where I got mad . 30 mins before they closed . So I took my car and left never to return. Nor will I recommend pap boys to anyone. If I had none it was going to take 5 1/2 hours aleast I could have went some where else and got my car repair. Theres no comunacation s at all

She was really understanding of my situation, and she tried to help me out as much as possible. Not only that, but she explained and showed me stuff about my car so I could have a better understanding of how to take care of it. Her customer service was honestly just outstanding. Ashley and John did great! I got a flat tire and they had me in and out on like 30 minutes. I was in a bind and could only do it after work . I needed the tire for a long trip. Id give 4 stars but the first guy I talked to was not very helpful and basically said he didnt have time to fix it. He also couldnt tell me when it would be available. And not every place has a type of tires my vehicle needs.at any rate ashley and JohnrJohn the whole situation. Ill be back again!

I highly recommend this location based on the level of care and concern I received from the employees. My car broke down on my way home to Maryland. I was stranded alone with only my dog. I had my car towed to Pep Boys late in the afternoon when they were already working on a full day of scheduled appointments. After hearing my situation and seeing I was very distressed, the employee at the front desk, Alvin, ensured that they would be able to work on my car right away. While I waited Alvin, Chris, and Zach made sure I knew throughout the process what was going on with my car, even showing me the specific car parts that had been damaged to create the problem. As someone that does not understand cars, I really appreciated their efforts to keep me informed.After working on my car for a few hours it was not able to be fixed that evening. Alvin ordered me a Lift, which was paid for by Pep Boys, to a family members house in Chesapeake. The following morning the staff at Pep Boys were able to fix my car and get me back on the road! I am so grateful to their hard and speedy work. They also ensured that my dog and I were cared for as we waited and showed great understanding and compassion for my situation. This was my first experience like this and I am so glad that I chose to take my car to this Pep Boys location.

I made an appointment online in the morning and got in the same day. I called before going in to make sure the price was going to be correct so I dont have surprise charges. The lady on the phone was polite and answered my questions. I get there and still everyone was so friendly. I even brought my dogs in and all the workers were so kind and loved having animals there. I was in and out in an hour. Not a terrible wait. They did let me know a few things to suggest to get done but were never pushy about getting the extra services that were recommended to me. Great service and outstanding work they did on my car.

Alvin and Joseph go above and beyond for the custimers. Alvin was able to find a tire I can afford and Joseph was able to locate it in the back. They both got my car ready to drive way faster than I expected. I was having a bad day but their professionalism and kindness did not go unnoticed. They didnt let me know prices were higher at that store . Also requested a basic oil change. No high mileage oil. No managers special. They said $46.00 was a basic oil change. But it was not. I called another. Pep Boys in Newport News VA. They said coupon plus basic oil change was $28.72.Then asked why did I have a charge of $2.50.They said it was a charge to wipe oil off with cloth, disposal fee. But they did not tell me this prior to service. They wanted me to initial for a fee of almost $41.00. This was a very unpleasant experience. Ended up paying $31.78.

Worst experience ever! Service manager on duty Had the worst attitude!! We scheduled an appointment three days in advance. I called the day before to schedule an appointment for another vehicle, and to confirm for the first. I was told both appointments were scheduled for the following day at 9am and 1pm. When I arrive the following day at 9am, I was informed that my appointment was scheduled for the next day at 10am. The service manager was rude and not helpful at all. She explained to my husband when he called back that they had overbooked for today. I would’ve been fine with that, had someone simply called me to reschedule my appointment for another day instead of just taking it upon themselves to reschedule for me - not know my schedule. We will NEVER return to this Pep Boys location for any service work. Especially not today at 1pm or tomorrow at 10am.Found a great garage family owned garage that’s taking care if both vehicles for me.

The oil change is very fast and the staff is super nice and friendly, but the sticker they put on your windshield states the mileage at the time of the oil change instead of when it should be changed next. Thats a company issue and not this stores issue though so I wont blame them.

So in the last 90 days, I’ve been to pepboys twice and had DJ as my checkin and checkout twice. The second time around he was really the best thing there. I was there for 2 hours even though I had appointment at 6 at night. Was not expecting that for like a 30min job. But he was awesome and kept me posted along the way. He had good customer service!

Even if your desperate DO NOT take your car here... had my car for 2 days and claimed they couldnt get the check engine light to come back on, went to pick it up and like magic the light was on and it was doing what we brought it there for... parked in the exact same spot with the wheels exactly the way we left them... I have a strong sense that not a single person even touched my car let alone even thought about it

Yesterday I took my daughters car to Pep Boys in order to have them check out its tire sensor. First off, I usually go to another local service establishment; however something said to make my appointment through them. So around 930am I made a same day appointment. Within a few minutes the store called me to confirmed my 1pm appointment. When we showed up at 1, Zach was very professional....wrote up our ticket, gave me my estimate and explain if a part was needed, how much it would cost to install that day. Within 5 minutes of arriving hed promised the car would be in the Bay. (Now my other establishment will say the same thing, but even with an appointment, it still takes a solid 20-30 minutes beforehand.) Thinking the same here, my daughter and I decided to visit a neighboring plaza...Well within 15 minutes the Zach was calling to tell me the problem and asking for authorization to fix it. Estimated completion time: 30-40 minutes. Shout-out to our technician, Dre. By the time we had returned from our outing, the car was ready to be rolled out the Bay. In leas and an 1hr, Dre had solved our issue and Zach was ready to cash us out. And the bonus, military discount!!!! I know had I had gone to my usual place, my 1pm appointment would have turned into a 140pm. And the part would have to be ordered and sent to the store ...and with our luck, the part wouldnt have been in stock and we would have to stop back by on another day. Thank you Hampton Pep Boys for getting my daughters car back on the road....we really appreciated your professionalism. And I am sure you will see us again if anything else is needed on our vehicles.

I’m only giving them one star because I can’t give zero. I came on a Friday to get a state inspection. I was told they were full but to come back at 7am Saturday to try and be first in line so that I could get my state inspection done because they can’t make appointments for them. I asked could I just drop my car off for the next day since I was already there and I was told no. So I go back the next morning at 7am to get my inspection done and I’m told that they are booked for Saturday and taking drop offs for Monday now. 1 how are you already booked and you just opened and 2 how are you taking drop offs for Monday when I was told that I couldn’t drop my car off the day before? I feel like I was lied to and given the run around

I brought in my truck for ac not working. The sale person call me back after the mechanic look at it and told me that my truck needed a1) ac compressor, 2) ac dryer 3) filter line and moreOver $1,300 of repairs. I explained to the sales person that I just had pep boys replace all of that several months ago. He said he didnt know that and would look at my history and would call me back. 1 hour later he called me and told me it would all be cover under warranty. So when I went to pick it up the receipt didnt show what they did. So I ask a different sale rep and she look in the system and it said all they replaced was just the compressor. Funny how when it was cover under warranty you only replace 1 item. Instead of all the$1,300 of stuff that they were trying to sell me. So that tell me that the mechanic didnt really diagnose it right from the get go. Trying to scam people out of money by replacing everything.

I truly believe they need to invest in more training behind their counter. I went in for an oil change, a service Ive had done here in the past, and just had a lack luster experience. I was quoted a price that was different from what the website says. When I asked why the price was so high and different from what was online, I was told the online price was a starting at price. I pulled up the website again and it said nothing about, starting at a certain price, it said that the REGULAR PRICE is 34.99. If extra cost were being added in for extra services or because of my type of car, that would have been fine, but none of that was explained. The lady just kept saying, thats the starting price, in an extremely condescending manner. I dont understand what logical person would pay $52 to drop their car off and have to wait for hours when they can buy a groupon for jiffy lube, pay $39 and have their car back in 20 minutes. You do it be cause the price is generally lower. I spoke with customer service and he agreed that the website clearly stated the price and anything beyond that should have been explained. He escalated it to the district manager who I just spoke to... and I have to say, I feel like all will be swept under the rug. I didnt complain for a coupon or a discount, Ive already taken my car elsewhere, I called to let you know your associates are over charging people (or not over charging them, but not willing to explain the pricing). He was very kind and i dont mean to attack his character. I just feel like he didnt grasp the service issue in the store. In a world with retailers closing everyday, service like hers behind the counter will have you all in the same position as Sears.

I take my vehicle to this location to get my oil changed. Ive had a good experience every time. Recently I took my vehicle in for a tune up. The staff was very helpful and understanding while my vehicle was being repaired. Valencia did a great job of communicating with me about what was going with my vehicle. Overall my experience was great and she deserves 5 stars for her customer service.
