Really nice local bookshop was a little hard to find myself around and the employees seemed a little more busy talking between them at the counter so I cant comment much on the customer service but they had a big variety of books in a very nice local that seems like it used to be a old fire station if Im not mistaken.

The employees working were so helpful and kind. We hadnt realized the shop had closed while we were browsing and instead of kicking us out, they let us finish our shopping and didnt say a thing. I normally never write bad reviews about places as I vote with my feet—however this was something worth commenting on for the owners of this establishment. As a local bookstore that isn’t attached to a chain, one would think that you owe it to your customers to provide even a little customer service: asking if there is anything that can be done, answering any questions, really anything at all.I received absolutely zero customer service here. No, “hello,” no “how are you?” Nothing; I walked right past the front desk, looked the three cashiers sitting behind the counter having their own conversation in the eyes, and still did not receive a single greeting. The entirety of my stay as a result was completely uncomfortable—and nothing was helped that said three cashiers loudly continued their conversation about how rude customers were and they were “so busy” when the store was not busy at all. My partner and I were set on buying a couple of things, and they were going to ask the cashiers if they had a particular book in stock, but given the way we were treated did not feel comfortable asking. As we left, we received no goodbyes, either. As a fellow customer service worker I am both extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this store. This is not the atmosphere you should be setting for a bookstore—or any store—local or otherwise.I would give this zero stars if I could.

The selection was reasonable for such a small store. Suggest calling ahead if youre looking for a specific book.

This is a very comfortable place to go to. There are a lot of books, and a place to sit and read. They are very friendly and courteous. If you are an avid reader, highly suggested that you visit. However, its not a barnes and noble. Simply put, its comfortable, not crazy with people, but very nice place to visit.

A lovely, quaint bookstore! It sells both new and used. Though it appears small at first, it extends VERY far back! It has an excellent kids section with so many options for all ages. Pretty much exactly what youd hope and expect from an independent book store downtown. I like the knickknacks and the book-themed clothing, too. Prices are reasonable, but dont expect them to have the newest stuff in stock--they sell out of popular books pretty quickly (but theyll order more for you!). I wish there was more space around to take a seat and read a bit, but thats just because I never want to leave.

Great bookstore in a historical Fort Collins firehouse. This location, along with the adjacent tea shop, used to be Fort Collins firehouse. The building itself has historical and architectural significance and is worth visiting for this reason alone. The bookstore has a great selection of popular books as well as one of the best selections you will find on local Fort Collins books. There is also a great selection of kids books that you will find toward the back of the store.

This is a wonderful independent bookstore in a beautiful historic building which still has the old Firehouse tower where the bell used to be; the tower, to me, is now a beacon beckoning readers to come to Old Town, buy a book, and settle into the next door tea shop, or, into any of the myriad of Old Town coffee shops, or public benches, and immerse in another world. Their book selection is good (and theyre great for stocking our states many authors), the staff generally knowledgeable (one or two less chipper than others), and the layout is open and welcoming to browsers. You can also order any book they dont happen to have, and, Old Firehouse offers discounts on whichever selection your local book club is reading, and usually displays the current read for a number of local book clubs. They also offer reward points to any book buyer which, after a certain dollar amount of purchases, accumulate to enough for a discount on the next purchase. They also sell cards, tee shirts, games, childrens books, etc. I like that they feature several author readings throughout the year, mostly intimate gatherings in the store, but also one or two a year at a much larger venue for a reading by a nationally well-known writer, and, they encourage everyone in town to participate in this annual Fort Collins Reads event. Old Firehouse is such an asset! Theres no reason to support Amazon or other out-of-town entities when you have the full service and ambience of Old Firehouse Bookstore right in Old Town.

I really really like the supply at this store, and overall I think they have fair prices. However, I was not impressed by the staff. I brought my books in for trade, only to have my books be pretentiously mocked. They didnt clearly explain the trade-in process for me either. Essentially you get 10% of your trade-in value off of your new book you would like to purchase. Thanks, that takes care of the tax for me.....Can I have my books back please? I would need to buy like a hundred books before my credit is used up. Honestly, I felt like I just donated my books to store that wasnt very nice to me. I left with a sour taste in mouth. I really really like the store, but I dont think I will be returning for awhile.

Went in to buy a book, they didnt have it in store, but I was able to order it through their website. I didnt want to make a special trip to Old Town to pick it up, so I chose to have it delivered for a fee. Old Firehouse Books is one of those places I keep trying to support but can never find what I am looking for. It is located in an old firehouse in the historic Old Town area of Fort Collins and still maintains the characteristics of such on the exterior. For me, a bookstore should be very inspiring and encourage exploration into new topics and subjects. As much as I try, Old Firehouse Books does not do that. The books they focus on tend to be the popular books out and are usually more expensive than other bookstores. The staff are less engaged than other bookstores I have on my visited list and my husband can attest that there are a lot on that list. Their window displays are typically full of one specific book instead of genres and more often than not, it is a book that I did not like. Old Firehouse Books is a neat historical landmark, but not encouraging for veracious readers such as myself.
