This man is very busy, so its not always easy to get in, but....it is worth the wait. Mr. Konaki does wonderful work that can be trusted to hold up, and his office Mgr is as nice as can be. Thank you!

Broke down in Reno on Friday and started calling around to repair shops while waiting for tow truck to show up. Called Gary’s and a gal answered told her we were in Elko broken down and wanted to know if they were able to get us in and diagnosed. She checked and was told by Gary yes they would look at it tonight if we could get it there before they closed. I expressed I would do my best as we were waiting for the tow. Got the tow got there an hour before they closed to be greeted by Gary that he would not look at it and was done for the night. When we explained we called and were told by the lady working for him to bring it in he stated “he’s gone for the night and can’t be here alone anyway”. He was rude and I would never recommend anyone to him. I called his shop based on google results and I would never go there or recommend anyone go there, we were stranded in Reno with no rentals available etc. we counted on his word going there and were refused once getting there. Where I would recommend going is to Mobile Wrenches and see AJ Where we received phenomenal service and work on a Friday after hours holiday weekend. However would never recommend Gary’s shop.

Gary and his crew helped us out on the spot while we were on a road trip when no one else would. He figured out the problem right away and got us safely back on the road. We are so grateful, and now are Gary’s #1 fans.

We were traveling from California to Ohio when our check engine light came on. We were staying in Elko so we took our car in to have it checked. We got immediate service. A diagnostic was run on our car and the only thing wrong was a reset. So we were on our way with many thanks for such Quick Service at a very low price. I would recommend this place.

Spent 900 on this new clutch and have an additional 600 dollar bill after going here this guy got in my face lied to me and crippled my truck. I have shopped around talking to tons of locals and if I learned anything DO NOT GO HERE AT ANY COST.

Gary always gives honest work

My daughter had car trouble near Elko and had to be towed. The first two shops I called said it would be 3-5 days before they could even look at it. Jackie at Gary Konakis Automotive said they could look at it right away. It ended up being a failed radiator cap. The team had my daughter back on the road within a couple of hours. At a very fair price.

This place is a joke! $90 a hour for labor, are you high? I tell everyone that Gary Konakis is a swindler and charges twice the amount other shops in town do which is still ridiculous. Elko is the most expensive place to fix your car and this guy is the worst in town.

I was driving my 1968 Ford F350 truck across the country from San Jose to Boston when it broke down and had to be towed to Elko, Nevada. The towing company (Lostra Brothers) recommended Gary Konakis Automotive as a place where they understood this vintage of vehicle. Gary listened to my tale of woe and fit my truck into his schedule promptly. He was able to quickly trouble shoot the problem and had me back on the road in a couple hours. I had no more problems for the rest of the trip thanks to Gary. Its nice to find a mechanic who can actually troubleshoot problems and fix the root cause instead of just replacing parts until the vehicle runs again.My truck had this recurring problem every 1000 miles or so that other shops were not able to diagnose. They just put in new points and sent me on my way.Gary was able to determine that a coil/resistor/points mismatch caused the points to burn up every 1000 miles. Ive now driven it 6000 miles since he made the repair and its still running like a top. He saved my bacon and I am eternally grateful.

Charged me $240.00 to replace a tail light. they broke the holder tabs and glued them back together. the light bulb fell out 4 months later! What a rip off!
