Yummy place. The coffees are so good, I just wish you opened earlier. Lavender Coffee is the best.The sandwiches and the salads are good.The tortilla soup is amazing. Soups are just amazing here. Definitely try the Gobbler during Thanksgiving. They make really good grilled cheeses and you pick what cheeses you wanna mix up. Except make sure they remember the bacon. I think twice they forgot it. BUT it was still good.I am not a fan of Dr.Who btw, I think thats what this is based off? I just love the place, very hip and cool. Stopped in for breakfast and drinks, and ended up getting lunch options because that part of the menu was seen first and everything looked absolutely fantastic.For drinks, we got a few of their coffee specialties and was offered a new drink they are working on. The new drink was a coffee with Strawberry, Vanilla, and White Chocolate, and the specialties we ordered were the Jack Harkness and the River Song. These drinks are named after Doctor Who characters, for those unfamiliar. The Jack Harkness is a seductive blend of coffee, Dark Chocolate, and Cherries that is sure to envelop you in a strange love. The River Song is the most unique coffee blend I have ever tried, and gives you a spicy warmth from our its surprisingly great blend of Ginger and Curry. Yes, I know what many of you are thinking, but this is a fantastic drink for cold days.For food, we got a chicken bacon pesto wrap, a chicken caprese sandwich, and a rueben. The wrap was crisp and delicious, the chicken caprese had fresh mozzarella and giant slices of roma tomatoes with a delectable balsamic glaze, and the rueben swaps out the traditional sauerkraut for a sweet coleslaw in a twist that combines the standards of a California Rueben with the Traditional Cornbeef Rueben. All of it was great.The staff was friendly, open, and knowledgeable about the menu. Great experience.

This place is great, delicious coffee, freshly made sandwiches. Even though indoor dining is restricted it’s in a very nice spot to walk around and drink coffee. Highly recommended!

I absolutely LOVE Blue Box. The staff is fantastic; I always have great conversations with them and they are super helpful in every way. Also, who wouldnt love a Dr. Who themed cafe? Totally a nerds paradise. I miss when every other week they would have a theater group come in and do Live Dungeons and Dragons (gosh dang pandemic)! But dont forget the food. Amazing selection of sandwiches, salads, coffee, and all a lot in between. 5 stars. Much wow. Would recommend!(Seriously if you havent gone, stop reading reviews and just go.)

I love the Decour its so cute! Its all Doctor Who related. Its one of our favorite spots to take a bike ride to on some nice sunny days! I highly recommend this place if you just wanna stop and get some coffee with your friends. They do have outdoor seating available if you wish to enjoy the fresh air!

If you dont order ahead, be prepared to wait at least ten minutes for one cold sandwich. I got the Italian and I wish I would have noticed that they put sweet pickles on it. Ive never had an Italian with sweet pickles. They were so thick and overly sweet, they completely overpowered the sandwich. I couldnt even taste the meat or the hot peppers I paid extra for. The employees are nice, though.

Probably my favorite place to eat in downtown Elgin. Food and drinks are great and are not too expensive either given that they are a small business. Love the staff there as well, very friendly.

The Reuben was good, could have used more corned beef The pic is dockered up. The salad was fresh and tasty. The spot was clean and trendy. Groupon helped to choose this with a handsome deal.

Super chill place in downtown Elgin for tasty sandwiches and salads, plus coffee, too. They have the option to build your own sandwich, and I really like that they use Boars Head deli meats. Oh, and they have a subtle Dr. Who theme going on, which might be a plus if youre into that!

Ive been to the Blue Box Cafe a few times, but only for breakfast, so I cant speak on their sandwiches (aside from their breakfast sandwiches which are great). Their Americanos are pretty darn good too. Also, Im a bit of a Whovian, so the theme gets a big thumbs up from me!

Please dont have your employees ask customers for tips just for making their food (thats why we pay for it). Definitely dont ask for tips when youre going openly bad mouth customers for calling and asking for the manager while hes in the hospital, complain about it being busy and having to spend an hour and a half fixing a door, smoke out the restaurant by burning ingredients and not ventilating, and provide slow service and poor food quality. As a fan of Dr. Who, I really wanted to like this place, but I refuse to go any place where the employees incessantly complain and are rude to customers.

I love this shop. They recently reopened with great precautions against the covid19 pandemic. I got a delicious Masters Wrap, cookie, and White Lavender Mocha frappe. It hit the spot perfectly as a cute bagged lunch in the park since we cant dine-in right now. The staff were just as friendly as always, keeping their great humor despite all the weirdness in the world. I definitely recommend Blue Box Cafe to anyone looking for a tasty lunch or comforting beverage in a place that will leave you with a smile on your (currently masked) face!

Love Blue Box, love the staff. I get the Reuben, which they do a little differently here. They also have a great assortment of chips, and that might not sound impressive but Ive never had Maui Onion kettle chips before and now I want a while bag. Blue Box is definitely a weekly stop for me!

If you are looking for a place that has some super cool coffee flavors this is a place for you. Traditional coffee served here but if youd like to try lavender in your coffee or something else fun, this place is a must!!! Plus they have a FANTASTIC lunch menu here as well!!! Two days ago was the first time we visited this good restaurant. But It is definitely not the last time. We had great time with the generous service, with the first-rate meal and wine and with the modest pay. We will surely visit there again.

I have been here many many times. I love the environment and food. I have yet to do a review, but last time I went they went above and beyond. I ordered my lunch and unfortunately they ran out of what I ordered but when I got there they offered me free lunch. I tipped them the amount I would have paid because I have never experienced customer service like this. I didnt even have time to be upset about my initial order. The food and coffee is always great here.

We went for their monthly D&D night, but we will definitely return just for the food! It was amazing! & then by the time the cast showed up, we were happy to have finished eating, because otherwise we would not have been able to focus on account of how good the show was. Cool place, in a Doctor Who theme. I had the salted caramel latte, and I was able to order my club sandwich as a multi grain wrap, where they added tomato & dill pickle--Both were delicious, and I loved the chipotle mayo in the sandwich.
