Poor customer service, rude on the phone and doesn’t follow up. He had my item for 4 years and has done nothing after I told him what I wanted twice.

I look for high quality antiques for my home. I do not care for the modern furniture so I found Evanstonia a few years back when I was looking for a large antique desk. I found it at this wonderful antique store in Chicago at Evanstonia. My experience was great. I realized that I had not only found a great store but the owner Ziggy knows antiques better than anyone I have met. He took time with me answered my concerns and I purchased a one of a kind wood desk that I am so proud to own, it is a treasure. Since that purchase I have returned to the store several times and have purchased several antiques, most recently I trusted Ziggy to restore my Mahogany Antique settee. The results are incredibly gorgeous. He restored it back to its original condition (a true Museum piece). I find antiques at Evanstonia that I enjoy in my home and will one day pass them on to my children. This is the place for anyone looking for high quality Antiques, this store is always filled with a large selection. I recommend my family, friends and everyone that I talk with about antiques or restorations to Ziggy. I feel that we are so fortunate to have this source available to us right here in Chicago. Great place.

I took in a pair of antique chairs for repair/restoration. I have struggled to find a shop that comfortable working with these chairs - they are unique and delicate.I hadnt given Ziggy much info over the phone, so I was impressed when he was able to discern a lot of info about the chairs at first glance. And then he went on to teach me a lot more about them - key points on the original craftsmanship, mistakes made in the previous repairs, and what his shop could (and could not) do for them.It took a few months for the chairs to be finished, and it was not cheap. But the results are worth it. The chairs are sturdy and fully functional again. And Ziggys repair work is far more subtle and seamless than the previous repairs, so I can hardly complain.I also enjoyed working with Ziggy - I found him personable and knowledgeable, and straightforward. I would gladly bring in other furniture for repairs here!

I use Ziggy for all my upholstery. He does a great job and understands and respects antique furniture. He basically rebuilt an 1830s rosewood settee that rescued and it looks amazing!

Ziggy refinished, not restored, my family tiger oak dresser. Then he replaced the old, valuable beveled mirror with a thin, cheap one. When I reviewed him, he showed up on my front porch and threatened me. And he charged an exhorbitant price for this misdeed. Avoid Evanstonia. His claim to European craftsmanship is just not true and, as my experience shows, unethical conduct is not beneath him.
