This shop is such a great pocket of freshness amongst the usual Brooklyn bustle. The staff was so nice, helpful, and friendly. All products were packaged in sustainable materials and priced fairly. There was a refillable station where you could get oils, soap, and more if you brought your own container!

Ive enjoyed shopping here a few times for a range of household items. The products Ive purchased during my visits were strong quality and have lasted for multiple years worth of use. The staff is very friendly and always happy to help answer any questions or share advice on products.

Outside my price range for a lot of things but still left with some good stuff. Great staff!!!

Good store to browse and ideate on what you could do to be less disaposable and more reusable. I think they could go farther in finding products to sell that meet this mission, but its a good browse/gift shop.

I was excited when I found this company online. I placed an order quickly, but when it arrived, I was missing a few items. I assumed COVID is causing issues, but I contacted Package Free to request they fulfill my order. No luck. I got another wasteful shipment with a wrong item. Again, nope. Another box and UPS waste and still wrong. I quit. You win. Keep my $28,00. You must really need it.Update--dont let the company response fool you.I contacted them several times. They never got it close.Claiming they want to make it right is totally dishonest.

I rate the customer service experience at less than one star. I have been trying to reach Package Free about an order I made online on 12/31/2020 that I never received, (today is 1/20/2021) and they have marked as fulfilled. I have attempted calling (no phone, you can only text), I have filled out their online contact us and received only automated responses from zen desk that I they will get back to me for about 3 weeks. The package was never delivered. I have contacted the PO. I am so very disappointed that no one has contacted me from Package Free. I expected better customer service. I have also put in a dispute with my bank. I am out $106.40. I will not be purchasing anything from Package Free moving forward.

Great zero waste store. I found everything I was looking for plus more. There should be more stores like this so we become more conciencious about our planet.

I think its ironic that the store is called Package-Free, but most of the things are packaged. There are true package-free stores that exist in NYC and where you wont pay 3x the market value for some simple, generic items like reusable straws or tumblers. I work in zero-waste, and I can assure you, its all marketing for the rich, conscious consumer. Being eco-friendly is only for the super wealthy, right? Thats how this place makes it seem. It honestly feels like a cult-dynamic because they have a following that swears by the store, and the owner, Singer, is idolized, yet its all mostly a farce. I work in the zero-waste world on the west coast, not in NYC, but Ive been to this shop a few times, and I highly recommend checking out other true, zero waste shops in NYC.

I ordered a package with several items in late December and received a shipment notification in early January, its now January 30 (over a month since I originally placed my order) and i still have not received my package. I have emailed the company several times and I got ONE response telling me that they will look into it - have yet to received any updates since. Im extremely disappointed in how this is being handled or lack thereof.I have worked in retail my entire life and the customer service here is appalling, I will not be shopping here again.Update: I emailed the company several times and received one response a month later, not 24-48 hours later as per their “policy”. The response was that theyll look into it. After not receiving ANY updates from “looking into it” for over two weeks i had to send several other emails. I literally had to argue with them to get another shipment. I did eventually receive my package in LATE FEBRUARY OVER TWO MONTHS aFter I placed my order. This is genuinely the worst company I have ever done business with.

Such a unique shopping experience! I purchased a zero waste kit for a friend last Christmas and the order went so smoothly. I was able to finally visit the store this past June and was so impressed with ALL that they have to offer. There are SO many simple ways to slowly incorporate zero waste into your lifestyle. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful neighborhood. All worth your while to visit!

I was really excited about this store when I found it online. My first order went smoothly with no problems; I received my package in a timely manner and without any excess packaging (only the cardboard box, paper tape, and some unbleached paper).My second order was a disaster. While my order number was correct on the shipping label, nothing in the box was what I had purchased. I emailed Package Frees customer service team and asked them to send me my actual order (and asked how I could return the other items). I received an automated email response with a ticket number for my request.I wouldnt be leaving a bad review if Package Free had promptly remedied the problem. Unfortunately, five days later I still had not heard back, so I emailed them again...no response. I emailed them a third time the following day...no response. I havent been able to find any other email addresses or phone numbers to contact. I like the idea of Package Free, but their customer service is severely lacking. After a week of silence I am severely frustrated - Im calling my credit card company to cancel the transaction. I would not risk buying anything online from this company.

Ok shop but like, why name a shop package free when theres a ton of packaging? If you want package free, find a bulk story. Expensive and unremarkable except for the ironic name.

I really want to love this store because we don’t have that make zero waste stores in nyc of all places. Their stock has a decent variety.However, I find it very problematic that they don’t send out confirmation emails when purchasing online. I tried to contact them through their customer service on their site and over phone and text, everything is automated. My order got double purchased by accident and they sent everything in one box, would makes me wonder why the person who processed the order did not notice it was the exact same order made twice and not check if it was by accident (a lot of places do this). If they can have such a quick turn around, why are they not able to correspond to their emails or texts??It seems a bit dodgey.

Great products - the hydrating shampoo is incredible! I would never use a packaged shampoo again. It’s all natural and the fragrance is lovely.

This team really cares! I got great swaps to get started zero waste and was able to return even though that is outside of their policy. It is nice dealing with people instead of robots!

The shops layout and selection is good. But as much as I like and find it necessary to avoid plastic and packaging at all costs, the store up-charges between 50 and 450% for the products on display compared to other retailers, even my coffee shop. If you really want to have an impact on peoples behavior, you cant make sustainable living a luxury good. You have to try to make it accessible to all income brackets. Sorry for the lecture...

With this shop, not only are you contributing to bettering the earth, but youre purchasing an incredible product. The store is beautiful and the staffs knowledge and eagerness is to help you is second to none. I must also point out that if you have a social media account, the facts that they provide you with along with their products they are selling are very eye opening.Even when asking a million and one questions, everything was answered with a smile. Im so glad I had time to visit the market during my trip to NYC! The store is lovely, well stocked and clean. I picked up a bunch of items since they were having an earth day sale, which was great because some items are a bit pricey (but well worth it)! Staff were very friendly and answered all my questions about the products available.

I recently visited while I was in New York. I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of waste in my daily life and the staff was incredibly helpful in finding me the best products for the small (but impactful) changes I want to make! They have everything you could need, I’m so happy with my new cotton rounds, mesh vegetable bags, and so much more. Will definitely be back next time I visit.

Some reviews focus on price, yes some things are pricey, but these pieces are built to last and not end up in a landfill or ocean. They also have smalls things ( under 5 dollars) to start your journey of sustainability. The store has a nice inviting layout and they have plenty of associates willing to answer all your questions.

So I just got a puppy and just came across the coconut fiber dog chew toy and I am SO excited. I have been looking for earth and dog friendly toys so thats another reason I am so thrilled to have found Package Free. I will definitely be ordering from them again soon!

Great concept! Too bad its a novelty and not the norm. But perhaps they will be the first of many throughout every neighborhood. Loved all their products. Although the soap made with lye and the aluminum toothpaste tube seem counterintuitive. Also the price points make it unaffordable for the average family. Nonetheless I applaud what they are doing and hope the word will spread.

Ive been really excited to come here, finally got around to visiting, and it was smaller than I expected. They have a lot of good quality items that I feel should last a long time... Not a very wide selection though. I think they have more on their website possibly. But I bought the albatross brand razor and I love it! It will replace all the disposable plastic razors that Ive used until now! 😊 Ill likely come back here for future special events.

PLEASE open a store like this in SF/Bay Area. I stopped in here while visiting my favorite city to find new alternatives for my diva cup. The staff here was super helpful and sweet enough to share their favorite alternative, the Lunette. I also came in to pick up some reusable food containers for traveling and great smelling sustainable skincare and beauty, which can be so hard to find. Such a great place to get affordable alternatives to everyday items AND everyone here is so friendly and helpful. Cant wait to come back on my journey to living a 100% plastic free life!

I was super excited a place like this was opening, but it was sadly stocked with super basic items you can find everywhere like Whole Foods, most of which actually had packaging. You’d have better luck shopping Remodelista’s Eco-Amazon list.

This is a pretty interesting concept for a store, although its not really obvious what it is when you go in. Basically its all products to help eliminate packaging and plastic use. There were a ton of very cool products here, but I do feel like it was a bit overpriced. I probably would not pay the prices here, but its very fun to check out the cool stuff that they have.

All the stuff for sale is so tempting. I wanted to buy the whole store. Everything I’ve gotten there has lasted and lived up to the hype. Great place for gift shopping as well. Although I did find it pricey.

I got the razor and it was a little confusing to figure out, their customer service representative got back to be right away with amazing detail on how to refill it and the best way to use it! now im a pro. Love this shop. I have been here a couple of times and they are frequently out of stock on a lot of items, but if you manage to hit right at a big restock you’ll have lots of options! I have the spray bottle, unpacked towels, produce bags, safety razor, and a stainless steel container. Kind of expensive, and you can definitely find equivalent products for less money other places (still reusable items), so do your research about what’s worth buying here and what’s worth finding elsewhere. Super helpful staff, usually not too crowded.

I live in Houston, Texas and I just recently started going zero waste, and I so wish I had a shop like this close by. This shop carries anything you would need to live a zero waste lifestyle. Ive bought multiple things here (I love the bkr water bottles and go pure water filters) and theres a good range of price points. The customer service is exceptional and the store is so well designed!!

This place rocks! Their online store has a huge selection, and their irl store smells really good and is super cute. The staff are really nice and helpful and they get new products all the time. They also have cool pop up partnerships sometimes, and their bulk selection has stuff Ive never seen anywhere else, like liquid castile soap and this magical face oil that works better than any lotion I have ever used. Anything disposable that you use, they have it in reusable and/or sustainable form. Definitely worth stopping by and seeing the options for whats out there.

There are many interesting items in this store, and many of them make you think about your lifestyle and how you can reduce waste. The products I liked were the foldable reusable cutlery set, water bottle and the soaps which had lovely scents.

This shop was on my bucket list for my NYC trip. It did not dissapoint! Selection is pretty good for most things that you need for a waste free lifestyle. I got a deodorant I love and a metal straw with no packaging. I loved the vibe and the shopkeeper even helped point me in the direction of some great thrift stores. This lived up to my expectation. They also have an online store if you cant make it to NYC.

Must visit if you are in the area. Well stocked with all products to reduce your impact on the environment.

Stealing IG captions from prospective interns’ projects and eventually turning them away with not even a proper rejection. Just dead silence, such opportunists. Nothing ideal about this place when its back end is incongruous with its front. Not going back to shop either.

I was SOOO excited to go to this store. I did quite enjoy it. They had an array of items for the person who wants to reduce their waste; some over priced and some very reasonably priced.I knocked off a star because they do not accept returns of any kind, and I bought a to-go coffee cup (the “keep” cup) there for $26 that I REALLY want to return. It was a very bad purchase and is a shame I couldn’t even return it the same day I bought it (I didn’t ask, there were signs posted about their zero return policy).But something I would recommend buying here are the reusable produce bags - their large one is $5 and really helpful when you’re buying a head of wet lettuce and the cashier is trying to put it in a plastic bag for you to put inside your reusable tote bag :)

You can find zero waste basics that are easy to incorporate into your everyday life, such as stainless steel straws, safety razors, and bamboo toothbrushes. I absolutely love the brush cleaner and bamboo straw I blught there. Many of these products will actually help you spend less money in the long run.The store has a clean, interactive design that makes you curious to see the purpose of each product. Lauren is a very helpful and knowledgeable employee. If you are curious about zero waste or passionate about any aspect of the environmental movement, I would definitely stop by here.

Have you ever been to their online store? If so you’ll love this place! It’s everything they sell online but you can actually touch it! They do shampoo and conditioner refills for $14, it’s $18 for the first purchase. They have a few different scents to choose from. They also have refillable powder laundry detergent.My advice, as the first thing to get is you are just starting out is a reusable straw and a cleaning brush. They have a few different kinds of straws like stainless steel and bamboo. I walked out of the store without getting a straw and now every time I have to buy a drink I feel guilty :/
