I worked with Alex and he was kind, upfront and honest about everything he found when inspecting my mini. He made the experience of going to a mechanic a breeze. I researched a few shops before I chose German Auto Sport because of all the positive reviews and they (Alex) did not disappoint.

Alex and the whole German Auto Sport teams were great for the scheduled maintenance of my vehicle. They are extremely knowledgeable about all the cars and make sure to only perform required services while advising that some could wait a few more months. Their prices are fair and I can have the peace of mind that my vehicle will be in its best condition after a visit!

Hopefully my brake system is good going forward for a long while. GAS helped me figure it out and the car feels good and solid! Quick too - having my Shark back the day after dropping it off was nice. GAS is really busy because they are such a great crew!

Chris and the team at German Auto Sport were able to fully diagnose and fix a check engine light issue that has persisted for almost a year now, that 2 other shops in the area were unable to fix. This shop is incredibly thorough and takes the time to solve a problem correctly and efficiently. I really appreciated that they explained everything that was happening along the way. You won’t find a nicer or more knowledgeable shop around!

Clutch pedal on 2016 VW GTI wasn’t popping up consistently, went in for transmission diagnosis. Shop said no problem detected, came back with a recommendation to change out the water pump - when no active leak was detected. Upon driving home, the clutch pedal, again, didn’t pop up and stayed down near the floorboard. Extremely disappointed, after 5 days in the shop, the problem was obviously not diagnosed - or fixed. Water pump diagnosis seemed strange. I feel that the diagnostic ability was weak, paid over $350 for what I feel is seemingly not much…

Everyone was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable on issues with my car. I had some work done recently and even though it was the holidays they worked with me and my schedule to get my car back. The work was beyond what I expected as well as a good guarantee that cant be beaten. I am definitely coming back to them for any concerns in the future. If you have a German car I would definitely look at them first before anywhere else.

Chris and Alex did a phenomenal job on my car. These two are dedicated, passionate and more importantly: truly experts at what they do. From the first time I spoke with them, to the moment I was able to get my car back, everything went smoothly.

These guys are so nice. They may saved me about $3500 by looking deeper into the problem I was having and not just jumping right to the most expensive fix ... that the dealer was suggesting. So glad I got a second opinion. They really love cars and I will be taking mine here from now on!

UPDATE: I returned here to have my other car worked on, as I had such a positive experience with my MINI JCW. I was super excited that Chris told me they were willing to take on my Chrylser Crossfire SRT-6. This car is new to me. I purchsed it online. When it arrived, there was a check engine light, which is an automatic fail for smog. Oh Boy. I was sure I had been hosed and bought a lemon.This car gave the guys a run for their money (and time). Still, although Chris and Alex could not get much help from Chrysler OR Mercedes, they stuck with it. I really dont believe other shops would have spent the amount of time and brain power on my new baby. Now, it is rolling like the sweet babe she is, and with shiny new plates :)I am lucky to have found GAS and will always bring my vehicles here. I completely agree with other on these reviews with regard to the passion Chris has for automobiles. I cant wait to join them at the track one day!This was my first post:This was my first time at GAS. My MINI Cooper S JCW (that is out of warranty) told me it needed brake pads. My warning light is gone and my calipers are all shiny :)I cant speak to cost or quality of work because I have no way to compare cost and cant see the work that was done. AFTER HAVING DRIVEN IT A WHILE NOW, I really feel the differnece in the braking. AWESOME.However, Chris says they use all genuine parts and I have a 3 year warranty on the work.I want to say that Chris, the owner, is a very friendly and warm person who really seems to care about what he does.I will be visiting them again very soon, because one of my other vehicles is not having issues! UGH.

If you have german car and live in the area, go no further ! The service you get here is impeccable (they have a different specialist for every brand) and you get treated with respect and honesty. I did a whole inspection and an oil change on a used VW beetle I just bought and everything went extremely smoothly, I paid a fair price (as a first time customer you can expect some discounts) and was given a full diagnostic by email, which was then fully explained to me in person at the garage. I am definitely going back.

I went to this shop for the last two years. Due to COVID and staffing and all else, I have found their service to be lacking. Chris took notes of what the issues on my car was when I dropped it off--yet only one item was done and the mechanic failed to turn off the warning light for it. Chris did a scan of the warning lights that were showing and said hed let me know if the car was safe to drive later that afternoon: he never did, until 3 days later. Its a small shop, great theyre busy and staying afloat, but I think theyre too busy to do the kind of quality work I had experienced a year earlier. Nice guys--but wont be going back.

Just bought a 2013 VW Beetle in November and it started making whistling noises when I turned. It escalated into a loud aggressive whine sound, my wheel became super tight, and my P/S fluid was emptying out. German Auto Sport was fast and efficient and fit my car in the next day (even though they were super busy) and had emailed me pictures and a thorough explanation of the diagnosis in the next day-- there was a crack in my power steering hose.Being a woman, especially a young one, it can be very intimidating going to an Auto Shop, but I felt nothing but trust and mutual respect for the guys at German Auto. Special shoutout to Alex for being especially patient and understanding.

Needed to bring my 2007 Mini Cooper in after check engine light came on. Communication was great, I had gotten an email response only a couple hours after submitting my appointment request online. Service was very professional and friendly. The clerk at the front desk was very knowledgeable, and I appreciated his advice when he informed that my car would be in need of an additional repair. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who owns a Mini Cooper and doesnt want to make the trek out to Concord or San Francisco.

I brought my Mini Cooper in with a dead battery. Chris did a great job explaining what work had to be done, how long it would take and outlined the quote. I had also asked for an overall vehicle check. I was pleasantly surprised that very few things needed to be worked on. Not only that, Chris was up front about when the work should be done (not everything had to be completed immediately) and what was just cosmetic. I felt like I was dealing with an honest business owner, not just someone out to make a buck wherever they could. Chris and his team did a GREAT job! Thanks!

In our big service, diagnosed several problems and preplanned for control rod bushing replacement and realignment which was done at a later visit to meet our requirements! Pricing much better than BMW itself for an older car! These guys know their stuff!

These guys are the guys to go to. Ive been taking my here for a while now and i live in Antioch. Thats how far im willing to go to have my car serviced by these guys. This isnt a shop that its sole purpose is to make money off people. These are genuine car enthusiasts. Brilliant customer service from the guy at the counter to the mechanics. Also, dont be afraid to use particular car lingo like E36 or RTAB or Guibo. Also dont be afraid to bring your modified cars. Like i said before they are true BMW enthusiasts so they have been there and done that.

A rip off shop. I am a client so you have a record of this inspection because I had to pay you to get the car back after diagnosis of the axle issue which I told you was the problem. If I was at home or within 100 miles I would have fixed it myself, I have a 2-post and fully equipped garage. This is a common, simple job as are the tension strut bushings that should have been diagnosed but you missed even though they are visible.You wanted to charge me more than the dealership does to fix the damaged front axle of my e61 530xi. I went to a competitive shop nearby that was rated similarly but provided a lower cost more complete repair that has been just fine for many miles since the repair. If Google wants proof that I am a legitimate reviewer they can contact me, they have my info as do you and you know it.No need to try to bully me, Ill not be returning to your shop and will make sure to point at your unfriendly reply to my original post to anyone who asks me about my experience with your shop.

This is my new favorite auto shop that I will continue to bring my 2007 Porsche Cayman. I recently had trouble with my oil separator and they were more than happy to help me replace it. I was traveling to San Francisco when I noticed white smoke coming out from my exhaust so I pulled over and started to google nearby auto shops. This was the nearest and most highly rated one so I called them to ask if I could have my vehicle towed there. They normally close at 6pm but there were more than happy to wait a little longer while I had my car towed to their shop from the highway. When I arrived, they were helpful in getting my vehicle into the shop and getting me all setup and ready to get on my way. They are very responsive with their emails and were quick to send me a estimate on the genuine Porsche parts that were needed to fix my vehicle. I was in need of my vehicle for the weekend and normally they are closed on Saturdays, but they took time out of their weekend to come in so I could retrieve my car. The service is excellent and top quality! They know what theyre doing and talking about. I recommend this place to everyone with a foreign vehicle or to anyone that likes quality customer service and mechanics that are passionate about their job.They are going to be receiving my business from now on.

Not only did they take care of the primary issue, they went above and beyond and addressed 2 missing hubcaps on my rims, ordered them and replaced them for free. They’re a wonderful combination of the old-style Berkeley BMW mechanic— laid-back and unassuming but competent as hell — with spiffy modern technology and decades of knowledge and experience. Chris at German Auto Sport is an extremely knowledgeable and genuine mechanic. I was having trouble repairing my 1986 BMW 325ES heater. The heater wasn’t blowing hot. After trying out all the possible tests to diagnose it and after receiving little help from the web I got in contact with Chris. He was extremely helpful, and was able to point me in the right direction. After speaking to Chris I had the heater fixed in a matter of minutes. The guys over at German Auto Sport are there to help, unlike some mechanics that just want your money. Will be bringing my BMW here for all future work! Finally found a shop I can trust.

Service was GOOD, but the prices are higher than what dealership would charge you. I advise to check the dealership quotes for every service you need before you come here. In my case the prices in average were 30-40% higher than what dealership offered ( oil change was $250 and spark plugs were $325). Unfortunately, I called the dealership after I left my car at GAS. Good luck.

These guys are the best in the business! They are the only shop that I trust my Mini with, and have been going there for a little over 3 years now. They offer an oil service that includes a bumper to bumper inspection, meaning they check absolutely everything from a small radiator leak to a burnt tail light! They keep my baby running smooth, nothing gets pass these guys, and the customer service is always excellent. Highly recommend!

Chris and the team dont just service cars, theyre passionate about what they do and the vehicles they work on. Every issue was carefully described with a recommendation level as to how urgent. The level of communication throughout was fantastic. A 19 year old entered their shop, and my intent was to make her drive as close to new as possible - that is what I got back plus a little more. Great group of guys! My 2012 328i was brought to their shop to do a diagnostic to figure out the fuel supply issue that would come up from time to time. I read a lot of reviews and online forums about similar issues that other bmw owners experience. My biggest hesitation about repairing the problem was going to someone who had in depth knowledge of the car and issues. The next was the ability to access the issue and repair with minimum cost. My last, was the issue becoming a reoccurring issue once it was “fixed” and left the shop. I am sure for other people things are concerns when it comes to racking up expenditures into the thousands. No one wants to feel taken advantage of and I can definitely say my worries hit the door with these guys. They were able to give an abundance of information on the issues at hand along with others things they notice out of professional courtesy. Even better, they have three year warranty policy for the work they do. They make you feel like apart of their small family by taking care of your car like it was one of their own.They are very friendly and extremely professional! I have recommended them to a few people I know already and would have no problem doing so again.Great job!!!

Auto Service Date: 6-4-2020I made an appointment with German Auto Sport for my BMW 330Ci, because the air conditioner wasnt working properly. With the summer months approaching, I thought it is important to have the air conditioner in good condition. The folks at German Auto are very knowledgeable and professional. The A/C system was evacuated and the system was recharged with new refrigerant. The problem was solved and Alex, who worked on my car, showed me that he could bring the temperature down to as low as 52 deg F. Alex was also gracious enough to show me how to optimize the A/C system for maximum comfort using the knobs on the dashboard. I was very happy and appreciated the great service received from German Auto Sport.

My check engine light came on on the way to work and I couldn’t accelerate on the freeway. When I called, Yar was very friendly and accommodating. I dropped my car off and it was ready the next morning. They also fixed a few other issues and now my Mini is good to go! Everyone at the shop was friendly and knowledgeable.

There’s a lot that can be said about German Auto Sport (GAS): the high quality work, the deep knowledge about German cars, the exceptional customer service, the thorough walk-through diagnostics, timely turnaround, and accurate estimates. After eight years of working with GAS I trust them implicitly. Suffice to say this is the go-to place for your German car, surely in the Bay Area if not Northern California. I live 115 miles from the shop and I rearrange my schedule to get my ‘88 BMW 325is there for work that I can’t do myself.Update: It’s been 10 years now that GAS is my shop. I’ve recently added a 2011 Audi A3 TDI to my “stable” and GAS is as consistent as ever; quality work and great customer service.

There was quite a bit to say the least, but Chris was nothing but awesome and informative.When going in to detail about the jobs to come he was straight forward with his candor which reassured me so that even with the upcoming maintenance needed that I didnt really freak out.Having a shop that will fix your car properly and one that can ease your concerns at the same time is a shop worth going to.German Auto Shop is my go to shop to get my car worked on.

Absolutely great shop!!!! Every mechanic in there especially the owner of the shop has been extremely courteous respectful and very professional. Never a day off from professionalism and true mechanical understanding of BMWs and a passion for them.Very hard to find from auto mechanic shop and I plan on staying with them for the rest of my life or for as long as I stay in California. They are my BMW specialist and walking me through each issue explaining it thoroughly and giving me the opportunity to make my own decision is the main reason why stay with them, I highly recommend them!!!Thank youStephen FisherE34 525i ;)

This review has been a long time coming since its been a very busy month for me.....But I wanted to set some time aside to give a shout out to one of the best shops ever. Dedication, honesty, and just overall great guys period. The team at German Auto Sport are well assembled and passionate about what they do. So I would like to thank Chris Lingle, Alex, Yar and the whole team for being blunt about my 2008 535xi and whats needed, which made me appreciate my experience at this top tier establishment even more.I highly suggest having your german automobile serviced here than at the dealership.Thanks again guys not only will I be back, but Ill be referring my friends and family with German autos to do the same.

They are Awesome!! They definitely went above and beyond. They didnt charge me for a storage fee while we waited for ever to deal with my warranty company. They warranty their work for 2 years. When i decided to do some work on the car myself they answered all my questions and gave me a step by step guide on how to finish something i was working on. And when i needed a part they hooked me up and got me out of a jam!!!!! When i needed a special tool to finish the job they found a guy who had it and i was able to get the tool right away and finish the job the same day! They are definitely my new BMW mechanic!!!!

German Auto sport is hands down one of the best shops around. Theyve consistently not only provided great service, but really shown that theyre willing to work with you too. All shops will tell you what you need, German Auto Sport will tell you why you need it. Theyll work with what is reasonable and what is unreasonable and theyll be honest. This is a rarity in the world of mechanics (especially BMW ones) so Im thankful theyre around.

These guys are awesome. I cant tell you the number of times Ive driven in with a minor issue only to have it fixed on the spot, sometimes for free. These guys are so legit they once talked me out of a $2000 repair because it wasnt really necessary. They still gave me a full estimate (which was consistent with other estimates for the same work from other shops) but unlike the other shops I didnt get any pressure to fix the issue.

Chris Yar and the team at German Auto Sport are the best. Knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Their new digital report is such a great tool as well, as it documents both with pictures and notes everything they did and any problem issues.

Cannot recommend Chris and his team enough.I just recently got myself a 2002 Audi S6 Avant, and seeing Chris and his team did such a great job on repairing my BMW E30, German Auto Sport was the only place to take it for a check up.The car had sat for a while, and need to have some codes cleared, so I dropped it off at the shop early and by noon, not only had the codes been cleared, but a comprehensive detailed review of the car was given to me when I went to pick it up, with photos of areas that would need to be kept and eye on for the next time I brought it back for work.

Best place for BMW repair. Friendly, personal service. Yesterdat, the shop owner actually came and picked up my car (dead, needed a new battery) at my house and returned the car at the end of the day... I never had to leave and was able to pay via phone. Unbelievable 5-star service! You will always be able to reach someone, usually the shop owner, Chris Lingle by phone, email or text. He is extremely personable and will go out of his way to make your experience convenient, legible and efficient. I have gone to German Auto Sport for all my BMW repairs in the Bay Area. Definitely cheaper than the dealer!

My E90 335i has been running incredibly performantly following several maintenance bouts at German Auto Sport. After multiple less than satisfactory pre-purchase inspections of this same model here, I was properly advised by the staff and purchased my current car.Initially German Auto Sport replaced the timing belt and several gaskets to make the car safe to drive. Over the next couple of months, they replaced the fuel injectors and the radiator and myriad hoses. The staff made me aware of the costs and consistently informed about the process.Since the start of March I have driven this funner than hell car over 10k miles and I strongly feel the cars true potential was only made possible through the knowledge and care provided by Chris, Yar and all at German Auto Sport!German Auto Sport exudes professionalism and knowledge. I trust their advice because their passion is evident. I always feel fully informed before and after every maintenance decision. The best!
