Hampden tire was recommended to me by a friend and I see why now. They have always been very fair in their assessment and pricing. I have never had them look for extra work for my car, even when we thought it needed more. The owner even has a sign outside about how his business is built on trust. What a nice company! Would recommend for anything tire related.

Once again Hampden Tires & Auto has been awesome to work with. Our van was overheating and they were able to find the issue ( a bad thermostat and relay) and fix our car expertly and affordably!! In one day as well! They are always professional, knowledgeable, never take advantage of us and a pleasure to deal with. Been going to them for the past 10 years, and we will continue to do so. I came over to have a piece of plastic from under the bumper looked at and I was charged $25 to have a zip tie put on. I have been going there for years for but I will never come back nor will I refer anyone else there. I hope the young man that did it gets paid for the few mins it took. Wasnt happy being told It could have been more, it could have been less less would have been great. And the $1 cust service charge is for what???

I had been to the auto shop twice. The first time I had my battery replaced there. A couple of weeks later, I took my car for oil change in another auto shop, the mechanic told me that my battery was not properly installed because a part used to anchor the battery was missing ! It caused battery corrosion. So the mechanic in the hampden auto repair was so irresponsible and sloppy! A couple of weeks ago, I took my car there for state inspection. The mechanic failed the inspection and solicited significant repair with the cost ~$ 1800. I therefore took my car to another state inspection station for a second opinion. Though the 2nd inspection also failed, but the repair cost was way less ! Ill never ever go to the terrible auto shop again!

I had blown my tire early this morning on the way to work. I drove here on a donut and expected to wait a while but a gentleman helped me immediately. I was back on the road a short time later. The price was inexpensive and the service was incredibly efficient. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for turning my Monday around. Best to all.

Popped in to get a tire plugged on a super busy Sat (today). He removed the screw, which was mostly just the screw head, checked it to make sure there wasnt a leak and sent me on my way, no charge. (Enjoy the Heineken!)

Had a slow leak in my tire which was diagnosed as a valve stem failure. Very efficient and they were able to work on my car as I watched. Unfortunately they didnt have the OEM part, otherwise Id have just fixed it there. The tech kindly waived any fee and put the tire back on with extra air.

We’ve had two excellent flat tire experiences that Hampden Tire has fixed both times super fast and really well! Both times it was $21. Such a pleasant experience with them that even though one of our cars is a lease and gets free service from the dealer, I brought it here because it was more convenient. Highly recommend Hampden Tire for flat tires! Both times took 15 minutes.

The crew work fast, efficiently, and economically. Unlike every other car repair place Ive been to, they help me understand in laymans terms whats wrong and how I can avoid this problem in the future. All their repairs come with like a 6 month /12,000 miles guarantee (I may be slightly off about the numbers) and Ive never had a problem with their work. Theyre also flexible with pickup and drop-off of my car. They truly go out of their way for their customers bc theyre genuinely kind, good people. Love this shop!

I take my car there for oil changes. Great guys, very nice, not trying to price gouge you or add on extra work like so many other places do. They can usually have the car in and out in under 30 minutes too so you can run across the street grab some food and be on your way.

I have been a client of this mechanic workshop for years and I have always received the best attention. The owner of this business and the mechanics are great professionals and human beings. Their prices are super reasonable, the quality of the work is excellent and the customer service is fantastic and therefore I would never take my car to another place.

EDIT BASED ON EXPECTED OWNER RESPONSE**I wish I could have taken my car to another local shop, but the work was performed without my knowledge or approval!It would have been a 4 star experience until the owner Masoud started to have an attitude and raise his voice when I questioned why work was done without my permission. Took my car here for an inspection and the bill was $150 more than the quote.I should have read more reviews about this place before going so I would have known what to expect. Unfortunately a shop that holds people hostage for a MD inspection. I cant wait to see the owners reposes on how he wasnt at fault for repairing without permission!

I stopped by to get a patch on a tire. There was a nail stuck in it. Looked worse than it was. Joe was the one who helped me out. He took care of it right away because no one else was waiting before me. He took the tire off and patched the whole quickly and efficiently. He explained a few things I asked him about because I was interested in the process and was very courteous and pleasant. It was worth the price here because it got done quickly and properly. Tires as good as new now! Ill definitely be back if ever needed.

Good place but unless you make an appointment its hard to just walk in and get service on the spot.

My tire pressure gauge indicated I had a problem with my tires and so I added air but it leaked out as fast as it went in. Fortunately the pressure held at 16 pounds so the tire wasn’t flat. I stopped by Hampden Auto Repair and Tire and explained my problem and within 15 minutes I was back on the road! It seems the seal had failed on the tire due to the cooler December temperatures. The Gentleman applied sealer to the tire rim and that solved the problem. Cost $20 what a deal! I was impressed the fact the Gentleman actually listened to me but more impressed that he intuitively diagnose the problem and fix it. He checked my other tires pressure and adjusted their pressure for the cooler season.I’m a VERY SATISFIED AND GRATEFUL customer!

Went here after I hit a MASSIVE pot hole on 83 which bent my rim and was causing my tire to leak. I dropped the car off and went across the street to buy donuts for the employees and a coffee for myself. My rim was bent back in place by the time I returned and for a very reasonable cost. I cannot recommend this shop enough!!!

After taking my car in to cheaper and less reputable garages, I finally found one that does good honest work the first time. Will definitely be bringing my car here for any future repairs or maintenance.

LACK OF ATTENTION TO IMPORTANT DETAILS.Update 5/3/19: To be sure, I checked my service receipts and they all read Hampden Tire at 1045 W 41st St. I wish my review could have been a positive one and genuinely believed the staff was friendly, however am rethinking that assessment now after reading the owners response. There are many 5 star reviews for this shop, so it seems like my experience could have been an anomaly. As a reader of business reviews, I look at the critical ones when choosing where I spend my money. My delayed review is because it took this long for me to notice the oil change mistake.--Earlier this year (2019), Hampden installed a tire that was the wrong size. I noticed after a few days that my new tire looked flat. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the tire was a size too big! I had to make another trip back so they could put the correct sized tired on. I also paid for repair of another tire–a slow leak. They were not successful in that repair. Less than 2 days, I had to add more air. I took the tire with the leak to another mechanic who fixed it and I havent had issues with it since. I also had Hampden Tire change my oil while they were working on my tires. It has been 1,500 miles since the oil change, and my check engine light is lit up and says that I need to replace the oil again. They probably forgot the step in the process in which they reset the computer. After the lack of attention to detail with ordering and installing the wrong sized tire, seeing my check engine light come on for oil much earlier than normal, I cant trust or recommend anything these guys do. As friendly as the guys were at the shop, they didnt make any effort to keep me as a customer either. Its all so disappointing. I was looking for a mechanic I can trust for the long-term.

They fixed a tire and changed my oil shortly after I called to see if they could do it. they got me in and out and at a really fair price. Good old fashioned business model. Good work at a fair price. Cant beat it. Ill be back. UPDATE: They missed a small nail in my tire and it continued to leak, but I called the shop and they took care of it as soon as I brought it in.

Excellent Service! I loved their inspection repair special. Had my car inspected by them. They waived the inspection fee and performed the necessary repair to pass inspection. Everything was done at very reasonable cost and timely manner. Highly recommended repair shop.

Just came from Hampden Tires on 41st street and had the best experience ever. I needed 4 tires and a headlight fixed. Not only where they able to take care of all my needs, they did it professionally and so friendly. They explained the whole process and in addition they took me right away in the rain. After going through a horrible experience due to these tires, they made everything better and had me out the door happy and ready to roll. My husband has come here for tire issues and tire rotations before and knew it to be a good shop with affordable pricing so he asked me to bring our truck in for a tire rotation this weekend. When I arrived, they told me it would cost $40. I didnt question this price because I honestly didnt know the normal price of this service so I left the car and went home. When my husband came home, I told him I had dropped off the car and the price. He then told me when he has brought the same car in for the same service previously, they only charged him $20 dollars. I had obviously been given the clueless female price and he was very angry. We returned and got our car back before they put it up on the lift.Someone who I had not spoken to before apparently did acknowledge that they were wrong in giving me a doubled price and they even offered to do the rotation for free but we decided we no longer wanted this shop working on our car and decided to spend our money elsewhere. Sadly, wed prefer to spend our money in the neighborhood but now well probably take it to a Wal-Mart where they charge $12-15 for the same service. Moral of the story: Ladies, do your research before you bring your car here.

My husband and I have been taking our vehicles to Hampden Auto for years! They get us in quickly, help to find reasonably priced parts when necessary and are always thorough with their explanations and recommendations.They recently recommended I take my vehicle to the dealer for an issue still under warranty. The dealer claimed there was no issue and cleared the check engine light. Well it came back on within the month for the same issue and they again insisted the dealer should be taking care of under warranty. They were right and my vehicle is currently waiting for a new transmission, covered under warranty. Saved me money and from a future hassle!

The owner is wonderful and I would rather go to some place close to my home and in my neighborhood. The owner is very helpful and will work with you. I came here for the first time to have a tire patched after running over a nail. The repair took less than 10 minutes, the price was good, and the team was super professional. I brought a book to read thinking Id be there for awhile but I didnt even have time to open it. Plus, no one tried to sell me new tires. Highly recommended!

Ive only had good experiences here for minor tire repairs (flats, swapping tires on rims). They get me in and out quickly and do a pretty good job.

I was a big fan of this place.To me, the prices were more than fair. I had some pretty extensive brake work done which I thought was going to cost me a ton, but ended up being a few hundred.The guy who checked me out was super nice too. They called me to ask permission for everything they did. He even glued the handle of my front door where it was loose!Real neighborhood mechanic.

These guys were great. I went in with a single flat, and they hooked me up with a used tire in better condition than my pre-flat tire for something like 45 bucks total. I was in and out in maybe a half hour.Great price, fast service, definitely coming back here.Only trouble was the parking in their relatively small area along a busy road, but it is hampden after all.

Read the positive reviews online and thought Id give these guys a shot. While initially put off by their appearance (its the job of the guy who owns the building not the mechanic I found out) I was immediately relieved when they took my car in right away and checked it out. They told me what what required, and told me what was optional (and told me right away this wasnt necessary right now). They were friendly, they were fast, and the whole time they were either working on my car or joking, putting me at ease. I would swear by these guys and YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GIVE THEM A TRY! Im going back there the next time I have car trouble.

Hampden Tires is a great place to get an honest answer to the question, How many tires do I need? The answer I got was one used one. Im back on the road having spent about $30.00 for a good used tire instead of the three new ones I was afraid I might need already.

AVOID this place like the plague. I used to use them a lot.After some minor mistakes (spilling oil all over my engine during a change, leaving a pocket knife in my car, and leaving diagnostic equipment dangling beneath my car that i drove off with and destroyed), I still came back because they seemed reliable, matched pricing, and didnt try to talk me into unnecessary work.Then came the muffler. After a check up for some funny engine noise, they returned my car with a broken muffler. Broken right off at the joint. They claimed it was corrosion and that I did it. Really? Like i wouldnt have noticed that horrible noise.Granted, I dont think they did it on purpose, and Im willing to accept that the guy didnt notice that he knocked the muffler when he bottomed out my car testing it, but in the end they wouldnt even negotiate a lower price on labor to fix it. Ridiculous.Oh btw, the engine problem that I took it if for was a vacuum leak, which after inspecting the car 4 times, they could not determine. Dealership found it within 5 minutes of looking at it.Wont be returning.

Massoud has been my go-to mechanic since a friend recommended him a few years ago. Not only does he do great work, but he gives honest advice that is in YOUR best interest. He wont recommend an expensive repair on an old car, for example, unless it is something necessary for your safety.

This is my family’s go to place when our cars are in trouble. Excellent customer service. Good customer communication. Good work ethics. Trustworthy. There was this incident when my car had a blown tire after doing groceries and I drove my minivan “limping” to the Hamden Tire car lot. Massood, the owner, drove me and all my stuff home. Another time I brought my minivan to Steve because there was a burning smell inside the car. He came back quickly after a thorough inspection and told me it was a plastic bag melting somewhere in the undercarriage. He sent me on my without even charging me for anything. With Hamden Tires, not only did I get excellent professional service, I felt I also gained an extended family.

The guys who work here harass my girlfriend and cat-call her on an almost weekly basis whenever she needs to go to Giant Food and has to walk by. If the owner/manager has any concern for the image his employees are creating for his shop, he should have a talk with them about basic common courtesy and whats not ok to say to a woman you do not know at all.

I am not sure whether it is normal or not, but their oil change service does not include fluids check up and tire pressure check up. They also do not give you an itemized receipt or put an oil change sticker on the window shield. I would not go there for the second time.

I got a flat around 4:20 this afternoon, and by 5:00 I was heading back to work. These guys were very quick with removing/mounting/balancing a new tire, and for only $25!

These guys are excellent. Masood, Dave, and the rest of the crew are extremely honest, friendly, and willing to talk tires and auto repair for hours. I brought my Scion XB in after running into a curb the previous day. I was concerned with possible suspension damage. After placing it on the lift and looking at it for 10 minutes, they concluded that it was merely a bent rim and suggested I go to a junkyard to retrieve a used rim; saving me money and avoiding unnecessary suspension repairs. While I was there, Dave also installed new rear brakes more cheaply than I could find anywhere else. These guys are highly recommended!

I was heading home from work and got a punctured tire and these guys were just about to close and they still saw me, fixed my car, and were just wonderful people. I really couldnt recommend them enough after this.

They quickly fixed the holes in my tires but neglected to put the key to my tires back in my car (or give it back to me in general). I’m now on my way to buy another key because I did not know it was missing and I am in need of new tires three weeks later.

Not the best customer service but they are quick. You hang out in the parking lot while they fix your tire. I was there 15 minutes total.

Brought in a rim to get repaired. I was told it would be done in one day, two at most. Over the course of two weeks I called daily to check on the status of the rim. They kept giving me different answers and repeatedly told me the rim would be in tomorrow. They also kept taking my name and phone number but I have no idea why because they never once called me to update me. When, after two weeks, I told them that it had been that long they called me a liar. I told them I would gladly come in to show them the record of all my calls to them, at which point they backpedaled, gave me a different story as to why it took two weeks, and then yet again took my name and phone number.This morning I called them yet again and I asked they why they didnt just get a new rim. The guy told me he would call and see if he can get a new rim and that he would call me back in 10 minutes. Of course, he took my name and number. That was 7 hours ago and I still have yet to hear from them. I would stay away from this business. Terrible customer service, unreliable, and unprofessional.

I have been to Hampden Tires multiple times over the past year for various car troubles and have never been disappointed by the results or the customer service, It it a great group of guys running the shop.

Saw the decent reviews here, so I called and made an appointment to have 4 new tires, supplied by me, mounted and balanced. I drove over at the appointed time, pulled up where directed and took the tires out of the car. The young man who greeted me proceeded to push a jack under the front of my car and, when I explained the there was just an aluminum skid plate there that could not support the weight of the car, he replied that there was something behind the plate. (yeah, the oil pan…)I then asked him to lift the car by the factory lift point, showing him the spot right behind the front wheel well, and he proceed to place the jack in the center of the rocker panel, between the doors, which is a spot not reinforced or designed to lift the weight of the car. When I tried to stop him from jacking the car in that spot he told me that he knew what he was doing. When I again asked him to use the correct lifting points, he accused me of screaming at him at which point I asked him to just stop what he was doing, put my tires back in my car and left.Beware!

Just had 4 winter tires put on, very reasonable price and the owner is funny and real easy to deal with, I have also used them in the past for used tires on an older car and they were quick and well priced

I dont hate this place there good people I used to own a business directly across the street and have done business with hampden tire and Masu for many years. It seems hes doing a very good job and taking care of people in the neborhood as we did for 40yrs. So if you have visited Roland Falls cross the street and see Masu and get treated fair . I recommend all of my past customers to Hampden tire

Talk about bad service. took my tire in wed. to get repair the guy says it will be done tomorrow it wasnt called thursday it should be here tomorrow... Again nothing the guy is stuck in traffic he should have it here before the end of the day. Still nothing not even a call.. Big waste of time. If I could give them negative stars I would.

Our normal shop, Keswick Auto was too busy to help my wife so she took her car to Hampden Tire to fix a flat. They told her nothing was wrong with it, put air in the tire and charged her $25. The tire was flat again the next day. Keswick Auto would have plugged it for her and charged her $10 as they have done several times in the past.If your name has Tire in it, be able fix a friggin tire.

I have purchased four sets of tires from Hampden Tire. In the beginning I was happy with their service, but there have been too many problems with them for me to recommend them any more. So the five stars I gave them is being downgraded to two. I had two times where the tires were not properly balanced - as soon as I got on the interstate at higher speeds it became obvious. One time the internal tire pressure gauge broke right after we got new tires put on, and the gauge was loose in the tire and denting the inner lining. The gauge had tape on it meaning they must have tried to tape it into place during the tire change.Not recommended.
