I truly cant say enough about these guys. I purchased my first snow machine from them and I have never had such a smooth experience. First off, Don was very informative and extremely laid back. He wasnt pushy and listened to what I wanted and I got what I wanted. Jeff, who handled the financing was also one of the nicest people ever. No shady business, no being pushy. It was all extremely smooth and not something I am super accustomed to. I will never go anywhere else for my snow machines. The best service ever

My boyfriend and I both snow-checked new skidoos for this season and we had the pleasure of working with Alec through the entire process. Even with the delays in shipping the machines and parts from Skidoo, Alec made sure to get both of our machines to us as soon as possible. He called us both multiple times throughout the past month to keep us updated on the status of the parts and when they might be ready, which made us very happy. I am blown away with the knowledge and professionalism from everyone at AMDS and look forward to purchasing more from them in the future!

Bought a boat from AMDS on consignment and had major issues at every step of the process. It felt like the AMDS staff has never sold a used boat before. The process took over a month from me putting a deposit down to taking the delivery of the boat. Sales team kept making mistakes on the paperwork for the bank causing me to constantly go back and forth between the bank and AMDS. It is now 6 months since I took the delivery of the boat and still dont have the registration for it. I was assured that the service dept has gone through the boat/motors and there are no issues (I was declined an opportunity to come start the motors myself). Went to a lake to test drive the boat after taking delivery and couldnt get either of the motors started. Long story short ended up having to replace all control cables and pull the main motor off the boat to replace shift linkage. It wouldve cost me thousands in labor if I were to take it to a boat shop (did all the work myself). Also, In the past Ive had issues with the service dept with my snowmachine where I had to go all the way to the manufacturer to resolve the issue.

Been to AKMDS a few times and dealt with Brian. He’s very knowledgeable and helpful. Class A service.Today I went in and spoke with Dudley. This interaction was the epitome of classic, old school service. Full of information not only on the products line but with mining in general. This type of service comes along rarely but when it does, it’s refreshing.I would recommend AMDS to friends and family without hesitation!!!

Quick summary: Its a fantastic place for any mining and diving needs with great customer service, knowledge and experience. Im happy we decided to visit to see if they had any gold panning equipment(and they do). It will be the first place I go to for any mining supplies, and so far enjoyed going every time.We went out hoping to find a place that sells decent gold pans for a panning trip, and after a few stores we ended up at Alaska Mining and Diving. To be honest, anytime I saw the store I always assumed it was a place for commercial gear, but we decided that it might have some consumer grade items. Though after we went inside, we saw a large diverse rack of pans and right there knew we were in the perfect place.When we got there, none of us knew what we were really doing, and we kind of just stood there star struck staring at the items and tools. Thats when Bryan appeared; probably noticed how lost we all were. As you probably seen from the other reviews hes a standup guy, and from personal experience, he really is. Very knowledgeable, highly experienced and exceedingly personable. To say the least, he showed us the way to the prospectors life. Showed us what we needed to start our journey and hyped us up to new levels from tales of his own prospecting experience.After the trip a few days later, I came back again to buy a new classifier as my previous one decided to escape down the river when my back was turned. I was given the same great customer service. Personally, its just fun at this point to see what they have in store and to talk to Bryan about gold things. It even gotten to the point were we wanted to invest in a metal detector. After talking about his own experience with metal detectors and tricks to where to look, Bryan took us and others outside to give a small demonstration. We now own a Gold Monster 1000 and excited to give it a go.

Overpriced already, so you would think they would have customer service figured out since the markup is so ridiculous. The parts department didnt call when my items were in. I had to call and check and waddyaknow they were there. I show up to pick them up and after waiting 30 minutes they can only find 2 out of 3 items. They must be new at selling things to customers. They refund me and re-order my part and tell me it will be another 4 weeks. I leave, they call me 30 minutes later to say they now found my part, and ask if I mind coming back again. I say I already wasted a big chunk of my day, so I would appreciate it if they ship it to me instead since theyve already inconvenienced me. 2 months later, still no part, so now I have to call again, make sure they have it at the counter, and make another trip to pick up the thing I first ordered in March. Unbelievable how much this place sucks. Will use Team CC from now on. Avoid this place like the plague.

Ordered a motor from AMDS in February, and was told it would be 6-8 weeks, ready for shrimp opener, on April 15th. After getting strung along for months, I finally cancelled my order order with them after waiting 14 weeks.If you are one of the many people waiting on a motor from them, and being told it will be here soon, Id recommend looking elsewhere at this point before the summer is over. I know of two other friends who have also cancelled their orders as well, and found locations on the Peninsula.A week ago, before cancelling, I asked if the manager would at least comp/reduce the installation price since I was also buying a full price motor, steering, prop, and had been told so many times that it would be here soon. He was unwilling to make any concessions on the matter

They do not keep the minning equipment stocked. Web sight is not updated. Some of the most basic minning equipment cannot be found.

With c19 they are swamped but will eventually get back to you. Most sleds were sold before winter even came but Don helped me special order my machine. Was worth the wait!

Ive been into Alaska mining and diving a few times this summer because I recently purchased used Honda outboards. I like to service my own equipment and Alaska Mining and Diving seems to be the main Honda dealer in Anchorage. My experience has been less than satisfactory this year. With the covid-19 Ive been trying to do as much over the phone as possible and whenever I call their phone line goes directly to voicemail saying they will call you back. Ive left three different messages at three different times with no call back this summer. So I expected that when I went down there for it to be busy or understaffed. When I got there they had a full complement of people behind the parts counter and with little to no customers. Ive had to go down there four different times and this is always been the case. They do not appear to keep in stock regular maintenance items for common outboard Honda outboard engines. For being anchorages premier Honda Outboard dealer it makes wish I did not own Honda or that someone else would start another dealership....8/24/20 .. reply to the responseThanks for the response. The parts guy behind the counter today I think felt my frustrations and threwin the shipping cost to rush my part. All anybody can hope for is somebody to stand behind their product and service. I would have thought a 50 horsepower Honda would be one of the more common engines and a water pump impeller is supposed to be regular maintenance on any outboard. I would have expected that to be a part that any dealer would always have on hand.

We bought a Can-Am Outlander 2020 and were extremely satisfied with Alaska Mining & Diving Supply. Our salesman Gary listened to what we were looking for and was extremely knowledgeable on their options that they had available. I am new to ATV riding and when I came to pick mine up he was very patient explaining to me how to operate and what maintenance care I need to keep up with. We had difficulty strapping our ATV onto our truck and Gary went above and beyond to help us even staying past their store close time to make sure we were safe to leave.We trust Alaska Mining & Diving and will be using them for all our future maintenance needs.So far we have taken our ATV out 3 times and absolutely love it!

In Alaska there are unfortunately a lot of businesses who seem to think they can do whatever they want, however they want, whenever they want due to lack of competition in the marketplace. I ordered a honda outboard part with ak mining and diving two weeks ago..they say they still havent recieved the part from whoever their dealer is down states. I try and call their parts department to have an update where the part is. They have not called me back. Summer and fishing is almost over and i need that part to fix my outboard. Dont order parts through ak mining and diving..it will get to u when summer is over

Poor customer service, particularly in the part department. If you leave a message, dont expect a call back. Some of the employees act like your inconveniencing them by trying to talk to them. Poor in-stock parts selection.

I really want to like the store after hearing their radio show every Friday on local am radio. They do a wonderful job of blending advertisement in information into a short time frame. However, each time I visit the store I find myself overwhelmed and a little lost and the staff is not eager to assist beyond the requisite greeting. They do have a diverse selection and the showroom is fantastic!

AM&D made a mistake while servicing my machine - however, they made it right without requiring me to jump through a bunch of hoops. Were all human and occasionally make mistakes - they made it right within hours and even gave me advice for what to do in the future if theres an issue. I believe theyre here to help you and their mechanics are top-notch. Great shop!

Dropped off a sled for my friend...workers here are Lazy and rude people.... 11/10 would NOT recommend...this is just another reason why I own a Polaris

I have been a customer here sine early 2000s. Always came back to AMDS because of the knowledge and how friendly the staff was. About 5 years ago, I came in as a customer and walked out as an employee. Now I have been apart of the FAMILY ever since. Around here, I see all of my fellow co workers, going out of their way to help the customers that come in every day. Love this store, and when I am no longer an employee, I will continue to shop here for years to come.

I had to ship me 90HO evinrude Etec from Dutch harbor to anchorage, 2 bad injectors due to water getting into the fuel system. Alexander the service guy is a top notch costumer supporter. He kept me updated and informed throughout the process. From inspection to ordering parts and giving me accurate timelines, I was impressed. The mechanic / technician that handled my outboard did an outstanding job. The engine is running beastly and I’m excited to rack up the hours on the water with family and friends. I recommend these fellas. Very timely and professional. Thanks again to Alex and the mechanics keeping us folk at play!!!

They were very helpful in 2012. I lost some keys and I was able to rent a mining detector and found them right away in the ton of snow that was on the ground. Thank you!

I love the staff there and the service work is good, however, over the past year and a half some changes have occurred. To get a boat serviced you have a long list to wait from, and they always want you to remove your motor from your boat. This does not work for most people. If your motor is attached to a boat then there is a long wait ~4 weeks to even get it seen. They have done away with their service lot that was adjacent to them so they cannot house any boats there anymore so this poses the problem of service not being able to get to you or even call you back for an appointment. This was never a problem in the past from my experience. I have heard and even gone to distant places to get the service I need while still being on the waiting list. First time ever was in late mid June, after a week, we had to go to Soldotna to get our service done, which was only some fuel injectors that took them less than a week to perform. Now on the list again they said 4 weeks at least in early August. Just a bit frustrating, and i believe its from selling the lots next door. Just slower than it needs to be!

Staff lacks tangible mechanical knowledge, cant answer the most basic of questions with regard to the work they did on my sled. Have maintained a general lack of curteousy and seem to feel that Im somehow lucky to be their customer.Unfortunately this seems to be the standard with most shops like this. Unless youre dropping 15k+ on a new toy they couldnt care less about your business.

They suck!! I tried to see and make an offer on the Thunderjet they supposedly have in stock as a consignment sale. They still have it advertised. The salesman I spoke with, Steve, said he couldnt show it to me because it was at their other lot. I asked him if he could arrange for me to see the boat and if the owner would consider a price closer to the actual NADA value and he said he would check and get right back to me. Well, he didnt check and get back to me so after I made several follow up calls Ive given up. It doesnt appear that they want to sell this boat at all.

AMDS is my favorite shop to be at. I have been shopping at AKmining for a long time. The Service Department is easy to work with and stands behind their work. BRP products are second to none and have the reliability needed here in Alaska. I look forward to the twice yearly million $ garage sale!

I normally never slam a business, but Im very disappointed in these guys. First, the sled doesnt show up (I had it shipped out)... and when I call back, they say there was a chip in the cowling that needed to be replaced. Never told me. When it arrives about a month later, the cover and extra keys arent there. The salesman, Steve, tells me the next day its been mailed. Two days ago I call Steve again. Whoops, we forgot to mail it, well do it tomorrow. Steve tells me hell leave a message on my answering machine with the tracking order. He never does. And here I am six weeks after the order. Just spoke with a contrite guy named Jeff about how sorry he was. No tracking number yet, though. Fabulously disappointed.

Been in there several times trying to get info on sleds. This place reminds me of a slimy car dealership, long story short, from my experience they just want to sell you an overpriced sled and have no interest on what’s truly best for the rider. Examples, this is our last one in stock! A few moments later another employee asked our sales person if so and so called about holding the sled we were looking at yet.... the price they gave was over MSRP and we would have to play the I have to talk to my manager about the price game. Since I have been to 4 other shops and they were very helpful with honest info and no games.The staff was friendly I’m just the kind of guy who likes the truth and if you don’t know don’t make something up. I also don’t play the games.

I have had issues with AMDS and had a three star review previous to this one (so the owner comments below will not make sense). However, we decided to buy a boat from AMDS and our experience since then has been fantastic.First, the bank we were getting a loan from (Keybank - see their review and never get a loan through them) demanded to know dealer costs before giving us the loan (in an attemtp to get us to withdraw the loan application as they could not deny us based on financial reasons - dont ask me why). Unfortunately for them Nick stepped up and provided it to them. It was an unwarranted request and if Nick had said no I would have understood completely.We have also been working with Geoff on buying the boat. He does not try to give information he is not sure of but will research answers. He reccomends purchases and features that are less expensive if it is better for us or gives the benefits of the more expensive vs less expensive. Buying with Geoff as our salesperson has ben spectacular.Nick and Geoff have earned out loyalty.

These guys are a bunch of scammers and con-artists, and sadly they are the only people who work on BRP (evinrude). I brought in my 2012 evinrude etec 60 thats only goes to 4,000 rpms and AKMD HAD IT FOR 11 MONTHS!, and then called me saying it was ready for pickup, and boy were they ever happy to charge me $1,110 for replacing an injector, and told me the it was working fine. GUESS WHAT? ITS NOT! IT STILL ONLY GOES TO 4,000 RPM, ITS ONLY RUNNING ON ONE CYL. Id be surprised if you guys even bothered to look at it before retuning it. If you guys even bothered to turn it on youd see it was only running on one cyl.You guys are a bunch of scammers, and the best part is you must pay people off to write positive reviews

As a Miner, I frequent AMDS in the summer to pick up my mining supplies.There mining section has shrunk a bit over the years but they manage to keep a good selections of the basics including pans,snuffers,vmat,miners moss,a few high bankers,few small suction dredges,some rock hounding supplies,mining carpet,sluice boxes,diving gloves,dry suits,metal Detectors and a bit more.I like the store and have talked to them about their service and they have acknowledge a problem and have since, worked hard to improve customer service. I give them an A+ for effort to improve and have had good experiences the last few visits. I recommend them for mining supplies in the Anchorage area.
