What a great experience! The technician and doctor (Dr. Miller) were wonderful and caring. They listened to everything I had to say and I felt extremely well taken care of. After a not so great experience at another office a few years prior, I was feeling a bit nervous about going back in. Dr. Miller took great care to ensure she listened to me and helped get my prescription tweaked so Id be seeing better. Im so glad I received them as a recommendation and look forward to returning to Dr. Miller for my next exam!

NVDO is my optimal choice for eyecare service. I have been a patient of Dr. Smithsons for close to two decades and recently began taking my (elderly) mother to see him as well. She remarked how pleased she was with her visit because he was so thorough. Staff are knowledgeable and always friendly. Denise is an outstanding optician with decades of skill. You will always notice a mixed age demographic when sitting in the waiting room. A practice that consistently serves such a wide range of ages in their patient population usually gets my vote. I highly recommend the practice and specifically the Belleview location.

As I dont have major vision issues, I have never gone to the same optometrists office twice over the years until now -- the team there is consistently courteous, professional, and efficient. From the reception to the assistants to the optometrists and the techs who help you find your new glasses, they are all warm and helpful. I highly recommend this location and office. They did not try to sell me things I did not need, and were very seamless in billing and insurance as well.

Pleasantly surprised by my visit to NVDOA. The entire team was warm and welcoming as soon as I stepped in the door. I was sure that I would be there for two hours or more but I wasnt. The Saturday team worked like a well oiled machine, getting me in and out but patiently answering all of my questions. I highly recommend Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry.

I had a very good experience at NVD. Friendly and well organized. My eye exam was comprehensive.

I came in to schedule my one-year appointment, get my glasses fixed (I stepped on them), and check to see if someone could look at my right eye, which had been bothering me since I awoke that morning. IN 45 minutes, I had all of my issues addressed and was on my way home! You guys are wonderful!

I am very impressed with the staff of Northern VA Doctors of Optometry. They were nice, customer service oriented and fast. I hadn’t finished my paperwork and they were calling me back for my appointment. It was great. The office and waiting area were clean and COVID-19 prepared.I am not going to take away a star for my one observation, however the doctors assistant would do a great service to his customers by wiping down the equipment in front of the customer he is testing. I took a leap of faith and went through the process without seeing it being done. Yes, I could have something and felt completely at ease but things were moving so fast and really was trying to keep up.

I had the first appointment of the day and was warmly greeted by the receptionist. She was extremely professional both in tone and procedure. My meeting with Dr. Kim went very well. She too, was thorough and very likable. Then I met with Nancy who measured me for my glasses and also explained my bill and discounts. All in all...a great experience.

I am very impressed with the services at all levels, from the reception, Doctors and optical staff. They are very professional and attentive.

I will start by saying that my family had been going here for 3 yrs now, I have been very pleased with the doctors and the techs, however the front desk staff leaves A LOT to be desired !! this past Saturday I had scheduled all 5 of us for our annual exams, Dr. Richter was great and saw 4 of us in like an hour, which was early on all our appointments. I asked if this meant my husband could also be seen early ? He stated it was all up to the front desk employees. Mt husband waited for 25 min while she said “ I will check if he could go back” at which point she got on her phone and appeared to be checking social media and texting . By the time I came out he (had waited 35 minutes ) the doctor had even come out and said I”I could see the husband now since I’m ahead of schedule “ . The same front desk girl said “oh yea I will have to check “ .. she never got up or checked anything, at this point he had been waiting in an EMPTY waiting room for about 40 min, his scheduled appointment time was in 30 minutes but he was so annoyed at the lack of professionalism or concern for customers he just cancelled not wanting to make the rest of the family wait until the front desk staff felt “motivated “ to get off her phone and assist us . Needless to say very disappointed and not sure my family will continue in a place where there is such a lack of professionalism by the scheduling staff . It is a shame because like I said the doctors and the techs have always been great. . I now believe the reviews about the front desk staff chasing away customers with their lack of attention and lack of professionalism . My experience with businesses has been that you always pay attention to who the customers have first contact with and let them know they are the first and last impression the customer has of that establishment.

I just moved here and needed to find a good eye doctor! I saw Dr. Keith Smithson and have nothing but great things to say! The staff and equipment were superb. Everyone was very mindful and considerate of pricing/insurance coverage, as that was a concern of mine! If I could change one thing, I would ask that the front counter staff were a little more warm and welcoming!

Ive been going to their Belle View location for a many years and they have always been very professional and kept to time of the appointment. Optometrist have been VERY good and efficient. The assistants have been very quick and professional in their preliminary test. They have the latest equipment and share the pictures of the internals of the eye. I rate them very highly for examinations.

I have been getting eye care at NVDO for some years and it has always been an excellent experience. The staff is helpful and friendly and Dr Giles is professional, personable and effective. It is always a very good experience.

Dr. Linda Miller did the best eye exam I have ever had - she listened carefully to my concerns and worked to find the best solution and she explained everything thoroughly. The staff was helpful and professional. I’m so glad I went!

I’m long overdue for writing this review.Based on previous experiences (such as when the doc said I was on the cusp of having cataracts and glaucoma and sent me for additional tests, which not only came out negative but all subsequent visits with other eye doctors did not flag), I knew I should have low expectations when I purchased new lenses for my glasses and sunglasses. First, the saleswoman failed to determine which pair of lenses would generate the greater discount from my my VSP insurance. Luckily, I caught the error but the saleswoman implied that it was just a few dollars so it wouldn’t matter?!?! When my new lenses arrived, there were immediate problems. The prescription for my eyeglasses was off center, so I could not see correctly. The sunglasses lenses were polarized - a feature that I did not order and would not nor ever want. Both sets of glasses had to be returned to the manufacturer. What a colossal waste of my time and money.

I recently had my annual eye exam with Dr. Miller at NVDOA. She has been our Optometrist for around 20 years and has guided through various issues over those years. We couldnt be more pleased with her services and those of the staff. During this particularly stress time, the staff works to keep you safe and healthy.

I have never had a less than great visit here. I found them bc I was poked in the eye playing ball and I needed to address the trauma. They were available and supportive and most importantly, patient and gentle as I was in pain like Ive never felt before.Most recently, I had my yearly visit and this was actually my first visit to anything since CoViD shut things down. Ive been into WalMart and Harris Teeter but I didnt feel comfortable but that wasnt their fault, I just have been staying in or doing drive-by grocery shopping. When I went into the office... First off, you have to call them when you get to the parking lot to make sure the coast is clear (not too many people and theres enough room to social distance). After they confirm that, they call you in. They take your temperature, instruct you to sanitize your hands and then take you back, no waiting around. They wipe down everything before you use it which they did before CoViD.They are pleasant and dont sound irritated as they instruct you how to place your head and eye. I know dude was calling me all kinds of stupid in his head bc I couldnt get my little eye to align with the green/blue light but he didnt say it out loud and he did not sound frustrated so thank you for that bc I felt bad this wasnt as easy as it shouldve been.After the exam, they tell me I should look into getting reading glasses but I really didnt want to but, I looked anyway. I couldnt find any frames that were large enough for my face but I dont really know how glasses are supposed to fit anyway and since I didnt really want to buy any, I didnt ask for any assistance. The guy came out to ask if I needed any after I went around once but I said not thanks. He told me of my benefits and how much of a discount I get and told me to come back when Im ready.You have to put all the glasses that you touch on a tray so they can wipe them down when youre done, the same goes for the pen that you use to sign your papers.Needless to say, I felt very comfortable and safe and thankful for a speedy appointment.

Great office and staff. Dr. MILLER is always pleasant and professional. I dont live close by the Alexandria office any longer, but I make the trek to continue being a patient with them. You wont go wrong with NVDO.

I visited the office in Alexandria VA. At first I didnt know if they would be able to help me address some concerns about my vision. However, after meeting with Dr. Christina Giles, she made sure to address my concerns and went above and beyond to help me with my lazy eye issue and provided alternatives until I met with a specialist.

I’ve seen Dr Miller for over 25 years and I credit her for being able to accommodate my prescription since I have a difficult RX. Denise and Bill are great members of the Belle View Team and always greet me by name and ask about my family. I still get the personal care I received when I first started with Dr Snively when she first started the practice in Falls Church.

I was very happy that the office was still open and seeing patients as an essential service. They have taken the proper safety precautions to ensure that both patients and employees remain safe with minimal close contact without sacrificing friendly service. I felt safe and cared for during my visit and would recommend this office to anyone in need!

I really like Dr. Kim, she is quite wonderful, attentive, and thorough. I am in the military, however I go to her for contacts and because she works wonders with my astigmatism and progressive lenses in my glasses. Her assistant is also terrific, as is the assistance picking out frames from the incredibly stylish options available.

I found all elements involved in my experience---from tech to D.O. to check-out----to be efficient and caring. The office is a great asset to the Mt. Vernon community.

I arrived for my appointment and called before entering as requested. I was greeted with sanitizer and a temperature check. The staff was friendly as always and made sure I felt safe. Im giving this 5 stars because of the staff. The technician (sorry, whose name I never got) who greeted me and did the intake was extremely pleasant. Dr. Kim did my eye exam, and she was personable, professional, and thorough. She took her time figuring out my prescription (I have some visual complications). I cant stress enough how impressed I was with Dr. Kim. I went ahead and bought a pair of glasses there. They had a broad selection of frames, considering the relatively small size of their store area. Great experience. I highly recommend this place and Dr. Kim in particular.

Very pleasant experience; the website-based appointment system did not work, so I had to call in and arrange an appointment on the phone. Everyone, from the front desk help to the pros I dealt with, were uniformly pleasant and helpful. The assistant (optometrist in training?) was very nice, very professional and friendly without seeming fake; the doctor was informative, answered all of my questions patiently, and was very efficient. The gentleman who helped with fitting the glasses was also patient and very helpful. Why not 5 stars? Well, the appointment thingy didnt work, which is a bit of an irritant; and the final bill was a bit steep. Would I come here again? Absolutely! Would I recommend it? Of course! Theyre convenient and know their stuff. I like it.

I came into Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry one evening for an exam. The Service is usually great. The staff greets with a warm welcome and everybody is very helpful. During my exam my doctor gave me excellent information about things concerning the eye like pressure, blood flow and dryness. However, prior to the exam I was told by the front desk my exam would be regular price. So I thought it would be responsible to get a scan on my eye which was $39. After my exam I was told that since I have a stigmatism the exam would be extra about $137. that surprise made me very uncomfortable and the staff that was once very helpful at first didn’t really do much to account for their miscommunication. I was expecting to pay for the regular priced exam and the eye scan which my insurance wouldve covered. Instead ended up with a bill that came out to about 500 dollars. Last time coming here definitely.

Friendly staff and stylish selection of eye glasses. So upset I cant remember the gentlemans name. That always helps me pick out my glasses. I always joke and call him my stylist. Great staff and worth a visit.

Ive been to this location for over 6 years and service, especially from the administrative staff has declined so much that, here I am, writing a review. The doctors are fine. Its dealing with the unprofessional administrative staff that makes the process so frustrating. They lose records and want you to come back in to get another eye visit to get the records back up to speed. They dont understand how insurance works enough that they set appointment for services you dont need, tell them you dont want, and then you have to pay out of pocket because they set the appointment for it and billed insurance. They wont refile, even if you ask. Good luck if you have both eye insurance and medical insurance paying for an exam/treatment. I schedule appointments and every single one, even after they send me an automated email and text confirmation of my appointment, gets changed the day before my appointment. Every single one! Theres always an excuse, and they treat it like its a favor to me that they can now squeeze me into a new time slot. Im finding another optometrist.

I have been going to several doctors trying to get a prescription that would work. Doctor Kim was the first person to identify that I have a cataract in my eye. It was due to her expertise and time taken with me. The staff was excellent and I did not have any issues from the minute walking through the door tell leaving. I came in because I needed an Eye Exam. I am a Veteran with a Service Dog. A women with short dark hair whom I guess helps you pick out glasses really insulted me. She told me she never saw a Seeing Eye Dog wearing a purple vest. Im not blind. She proceeded to berate me in front of at least 3 other Staff members. On my way out of CVS a very nice, concerned gentleman from the Optometry Office came out and apologized for her insults. He thanked me for my service and gave me a hug. Im going to report this incident as an ADA Discrimination Complaint. There are many people with Disabilities and not All of us are blind.I spoke to the Office Manager on the 24th. He apologized but nothing further was done. The women who treated so poorly is still there. If Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry Alexandria can not treat people with disabilities respectfully you should put up a sign that says the Disabled are Not Welcome.

Went for my first ever eye exam to the Alexandria location. The available hours are great for anyone who works full time. I had a Saturday morning appointment, and I know that they stay open later on certain days of the week. Everyone I met was very friendly and helpful. Since this was the first time Id ever been to an eye doctor, the Clinical Assistant explained every test beforehand so I would know what to expect. Great place, friendly people, super convenient office hours.

Just showed up for an appt for my daughter and I was informed they dont accept Tricare and never have. This was after trying to confirm over the phone that they do and being told by the receptionist that she wasnt sure how they file it but would have someone call to confirm details if there were any questions. Well, no call ever came, so I assumed we were good to go, especially when its LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE that they do. Giant waste of time.

I had a very good experience with this group of professionals. The front desk staff was lovely: Dr. Kim was great....very knowledgeable, kind, professional, and she had a great sense of humor; and then came sweet Nancy, the optician magician....loved her!

I have been to this location twice. The first experience was very poor, but the second experience was excellent. It depends on the doctor that you visit--from what I understand, most of the doctors here are highly rated.The location is great, and the staff and assistants all seem to know their stuff. On my first visit I saw Dr. Snyder--he belittled the staff during my exam, and he was dismissive of my questions and rude to me. (Google him specifically, as I should have done, and you will find similar reviews. It is deceiving, because the location overall gets great ratings, while that particular doctor gets low ratings.)Frustrated with my first visit, I returned and had my refraction done again, this time with Dr. Bloom. She was excellent! Dr. Bloom was friendly and patient, and seemed to listen to my questions. She took the time to show me options when I wanted to compare & contrast, and she made good suggestions. I will definitely return to her in the future.

This group is always so kind and considerate and take the time to do a great job of finding the right glasses. I would recommend them to anyone and they accept our insurance which is another plus.

I have been going to see Dr Smithson for several years and it is always an excellent experience. This time I went in for a LASIK consult and he took the time to explain everything, explain the quick test and screening process. Then he explained some options and pros and cons involved. He always seems genuinely concerned about you as a person, not as a patient or an appointment. He is the best!!!!!

Great staff, excellent care

I showed up for my appointment about 20 minutes early. I was not seen until about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. As I sat in the office waiting, I was not acknowledged by anyone working at the front desk about my appointment time. After getting up and speaking to the front desk about my wait time, there was no sympathy. Finally after waiting another 10 minutes the optometrist saw me and rushed through my exam. If I could this place zero stars I would. I will not be coming back to this place.

It was my first time visiting this location, the doctor I saw was absolutely wonderful and easy to work with, she cared and listened to some of my concerns. I would have absolutely recommend her, however, I am giving it 3 stars because I can NOT stress enough how rude the front office staff is and made my experience utterly miserable; simply for that reason I will NEVER return. Not only was my experience in the office uncomfortable and off putting, I then called to ask where my contacts were as it had been well over 2 weeks of ordering them. The receptionist responded with I am not sure, I will call UPS, but we did our part....sooooooo. Well I did my part and paid over $250 and still havent received them. Again, they are rude and for that reason I will NOT be going back.

Went in to find a glasses repair kit. The super nice staff fixed my sunglasses on the spot by putting a custom hinge on. They are very friendly and definitely will consider going back...thumbs up

Ive worn glasses since I was 5 years old, and Ive never recieved better care and expert attention than at NVDO. Dr. Miller is amazing, but Ive also seen most of the other providers and have always felt like I was in capable and expert hands. The front office staff are friendly and easy to work with, and have been accommodating and understanding. I just had Lasik, and the whole office has been wonderful with pre- and post- care. Ive never felt rushed or dismissed, and theyve taken my (slight) problems post-Lasik very seriously and been incredibly helpful to calm my nerves and also solve the issue. I would recommend everyone to this practice. Ive been to many many different eye doctors in the last 30 years, and they are by far the best.

I completely agree with the review below - rude service, incredibly unprofessional staff, and apparently, a widespread habit of adding on charges that are not disclosed at the time of services rendered. I will not be returning. There are plenty of optometrists in the area - do yourself a favor, and find a much more transparent and competent practice.

I have been seeing Dr. Miller for about 5 years and will continue to both see and recommend her to others. Shes always exceptionally pleasant, professional and she clearly expalins any diagnosis and/or treatments or concerns. When I first began seeing her, I had a persistent corneal abrasion that has been completely clear since her treatment and suggestions. She seems to have detailed memories of my medical history with her as well, even for this problem which has been resolved for at least 4 years. Shes got a personal touch you dont often see these days. Very thorough exams. No complaints from me.

The optomotrist who I had been seeing for years suddenly retired. I continued to see the doctor who took over his practice. They could not get my contact lenses to fit well. I consulted Consumers Check Book and found Dr. Bloom. I am completely satisfied. Very thorough. My conacts fit well; they are extremely comfortable. My husband has changed to this group as well
