I have owned a mountain bike now for 6 weeks and have already taken it to Bikeworks three times for a wide variety of services. The first was cable adjustments on my brand new bike, done in a timely manner so I could get out riding the next time I wanted to, and at a reasonable price. The second time I brought the bike in was to have a pair of carbon handlebars trimmed and put on, along with a stem and a couple other extras, again done timely and reasonably priced. The third time was just two hours before they closed on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as while on a ride I got a puncture and the tire could not be repaired. I ended up just getting two new tires put on and they got it done while I waited no less. Two brand new Maxxis tires they obviously had in stock, the exact tires I wanted as well, put on and ready to go so I did not miss any of the three rides I had planned for the Thanksgiving holiday. I really appreciate how they can accommodate even emergency repairs, as well as overnight new parts put on and services. I do not give my loyalty to a business lightly, but my mountain bike will always be taken to Bikeworks.Update February 2021 -- I have been back to Bikeworks several times since my initial review. Dan has helped me a lot to understand my bike and make knowledgeable upgrades. There is no upselling at all. I got an amazing deal on a 2021 Fox 36 Factory fork, and Dan made an adjustment to the rear shock that made it a whole new bike. Thank you Dan and the Bikeworks team for all your help and great advice and generous sharing of your time with my many questions!

This is my go-to bike shop in Albuquerque. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Theyve saved my butt multiple times, getting me back on the trail as soon as they could when I had repairs I wasnt able to do myself. Their prices for parts are just as good as the internet as well, which makes it a brainer to be the first place you stop when you need something for your bike.

I read all of the very mixed reviews before my visit, and everyone is right. If you have the discretionary cash to pay for overpriced goods and services, then yes. They are welcoming, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. But being the objective type person I am, if you want your bike fixed correctly the first time you probably couldnt save money going anywhere else. But if youre a person with little to no discretionary cash and just wanted an inner tube to get back on the road you have to wonder why they charge about 3 times more than Wal-Mart for a tube nearly identical. I just happened to wonder it out loud, then I pushed my bike to Wal-mart.

I went in this shop late last year to look at bikes. I saw the price tags on the yetis and asked if they had any demos. The guy behind the counter told me, while he was sitting on his stool eating....I have a couple of $8000 builds in the back he could give me 20% off of. I explained to him I don’t have any sponsors and don’t enter races. I just want a nice bike to ride the foothills on. He shrugged his shoulders. Then the lady there said they don’t have anything under $5300. I kinda felt like they were wanting me to leave so they could finish their eating of lunch. That was a very unpleasant exp and I told myself I wouldn’t be back. I am seeing the new yetisb115 on the yeti sight and thought.... maybe I’ll give this place another chance. I call to inquire and the message on the phone is... sorry, the call volume is so high that we can’t answer calls. We are not taking new clients so if you didn’t purchase your bike here, we can’t help you. Please leave a message. I thought..... wow.... ok, I’ll leave a messsge, only to get aNother message that their mailbox is full. So if I have a question, I have to drive over there I guess because they don’t answer their phone and you can’t leave a message. Very.....very unprofessional! I would never purchase a bike here. If I decide on a yeti, I’ll drive to Santa Fe. The yeti distributor there answered the phone and was very helpful and pleasant. If you like being around bike snobs and have a minimum of $5300 to spend, then this might be the place for you.

I have been a customer at Bikeworks for many years on the recommendation of my son who was racing in ABQ at the time. We have nothing but great things to say about the shop and the quality of work. My wife and I have ridden many thousands of miles on several tandems and have broken more than a few spokes. Dan the wheel man has rebuilt several wheels for us and always had a great experience and quality work. Also had wheels built for riding the Great Divide route the past couple of years. Last fall I was in the market for a new mountain bike and I ended up buying a Rocky Mountain Instinct BC from Bikeworks and got what I think was a great deal. HIGHLY recommend this shop!

Really like this bike shop! I like riding but dont know much about bikes/cant be bothered to not suck at bike maintenance. They dont make me feel stupid and help get me safely on the road. Plenty of cool gear and bikes in their new shop, including this really cute heavy duty front basket I had them put on my city bike. Have been to a couple of their mountain bike demos and thats a blast as you get to try out fancy bikes in the foothills. Oh yeah, and bonus, they have a little espresso bar with good coffee, and always seem to have stuff to munch on. Yeah, I really like this bike shop : )

I recently bought my first high end bike from them. The guys worked with me on the price and were super friendly. I had read a previous review saying that they are all bike snobs. I couldnt disagree more. The guys there definitely know their stuff and were very willing to educate me, but at no time did I feel they were being snobby about it. I actually ended up paying a bit more for the bike than one I found online but it was worth it for me to support such a great local shop. They even stayed close to an hour after closing time making sure I knew how to adjust the suspension on my new bike.Bottom line, the customer service is superb. The only negative would be the small size of the shop and small selection of bike accessories/gear.

Geaux to BikeWorks :)Short: friendly trustworthy experts.Middle: top notch technical service/help, great locally owned bike shop, and excellent customer service.Long: Very generous with their time and expertise. Always willing to educate and help any customer that walks through the door—no matter how small the issue/repair. I’ve witnessed the BWABQ staff help customers without charge, including myself. They’ve created a laid back environment that is fun to hang out for laughs, a drink, and/or maybe learn something. They’ve never tried to up sell or hard sell / pressure me into anything, and they’ve given me discounts many times. Hanging out with the guys at BikeWorks is one of my favorite social activities in Albuquerque.

I honestly believe this to be the best bike shop in NM. This is the type of bike shop you read about in magazines or online. All the guys who work here are amazing bike mechanics - heck I know one of the owners used to work for a suspension company and has a degree in mechanical engineering. Youll see shop dogs hanging out as well as loyal customers, they can fix you a cup of coffee or sometimes grab you a beer, theyre passionate about their work (sometimes they have to change their hours so they can race), and theyll fight for you working with component or bike brands to get you deals on products and repairs. I guarantee theyll never let you down.

I came here to get my Kona fixed and they said that the bike would be ready to be picked up on a Monday (the day I brought the bike in was the previous Friday), and I called them on Monday and they said it wasnt done BUT they had a bike just in that they thought I might want to take a look at before they installed the parts. I just wished that they would have called and update me, but thats okay. The bike I got is very nice (and I crashed it two times in two days). Some other bike shops have been good also, but Bike Works is a smaller business with less staff, so expect to wait for service. Overall, the shop has been good to me and I plan on purchasing my next bike their so maybe they will get bigger and expand to the building open next to it! Hint, Hint... :D

I recently re-entered into the MTB world after having been on the road for many years. Wanted a change and some cross-training. I was referred by a good friend of mine who uses them on a regular basis. Mountain biking and the equipment choices have exploded so I needed a good source that would help me make the right decisions regarding bike and equipment choices. I found it right here. From the first time I talked to Vince and subsequently the Dannys, the experience has been phenomenal. I settled on a Rocky Mountain Pipeline after having tried out several other bikes. Dan L. was incredibly patient in getting the build just right as we stripped the Pipeline down to the frame and built it custom from there. The DannyBuilt wheels with Chris King hubs have been indestructible. Now, the hardest decision I have is whether to ride the Pipeline or my Wilier. Thanks Bikeworks for adding to the confusion - ha ha!Great shop, great group of people. Just go there.
