They seemed really nice and talented, but they broke the law and are requiring Masks for customers. When I walked in they werent wearing masks and they asked me if I had one. I pointed out how they werent wearing any. They told me no one was in the store yet, then told me I had to have one, I pulled up the Greg Abbot Executive Order and explained that what they were doing was illegal. We went down to Asylum instead and they were more than happy to follow the Texas Law.I understand you may feel a certain way about this covid thing, but the law is the law. Thankfully Texas law reflects common sense.I was told by a worker that because we were going to be so close it made sense to make us wear masks (he said this to my face while we were close hahaha) I told him it didnt make sense. None of this makes sense hahahaha.But anyways, I dont wanna support a business if they arent going to follow common sense and Texas Law.

Went in last night for my thigh tattoo I’d really been wanting and it turned out amazing! John did a phenomenal job and was very quick, but also paid close attention to all the lines and details! Was a really cool dude. Great environment. 10/10 will be going to him again the next time I find myself in Galveston.

I visited this shop back in Januray and somehow forgot to leave a review?!? I first got my septum pierced by Hollywood and I loved it so much I had to come back for a tattoo! John boy was amazing. He was very nice to both my mom and I. He even used his tattoo gun to play the Happy Birthday song to me. Great place to go. Cant wait to visit again.

I went to Galveston for my bachelorette party and my girls and I wanted matching tattoos. John was super nice, accommodating, and cool dude who did the same tattoo for 9 girls. This shop was great! I was in Texas for a bachelorette party and 9 of us walked in for matching tattoos. They were accommodating and patient with the 9 of us. They disinfected the station thoroughly after every person and only allowed one person at a time. John Boy did all 9 and was awesome, especially with the girls who were getting their first tattoos!

They were great! Very, very nice guys! Would definitely recommend. I love my tattoo and I am excited to be able to wear earrings again! The only thing is that when I asked what was used to clean my ears I was told it was what was used in surgery. I said hibiclens aka Chlorhexidine ? And the guy doing the piercing really couldn’t answer the exact substance used. Not that big of a deal but I would definitely recommend being knowledgeable about what is used. :)

Whenever I travel to Galveston I always pick a new shop and get a tattoo, kinda like a permanent souvenir. But I think Ive found my favorite spot by far! John boy did my tat and he did an amazing job and was super professional and sweet. The whole staff is hilarious and unlike a lot of other shops Ive been to they arent intimidating and rude. The shop is very clean and has a lot of soul. Thank you guys for putting up with my crazy friends and I!! Next time Im in Galveston Im definitely coming to them. ❤❤❤

One of the workers gave me a hug without consent, without wearing a mask either, and then proceeded to keep my ID when I decided not to get a tattoo done there because of their lack of professionalism. He will not return my ID. To clarify, I didn’t have an issue with the entire establishment, just the particular worker that greeted me. Also, when I get my license back I will gladly take down my review. Everyone but the person that greeted me was cool. Sorry for the confusion.

Please do not go to this place for a piercing!! I got my helix done and they put the incorrect jewelry in my ear. The earring was too short and he put a standard “butterfly back” earring that you would put in your lobe into my cartilage instead of a labret/barbell which caused the stud to start embedding into my ear. Thankfully I went somewhere else and they changed it out for me which was extremely painful. Don’t go here! They don’t know what they are doing at least regarding piercings!!

Do not use this Place. The tattoo I got was stringy and will more than likely fade in a couple of months. I got no offer to come back if it fades. I went back in to talk to the guy to see if he could fix the stringiness and he gave me all kinds of excuses including talking bad about my other tattoos that didnt even have nothing to do with him. They didnt even open on time. The read the owners responses to his bad reviews.

I went here for my first tattoo and before I even went in I was able to talk with John about what I wanted and what would look best. The tattoo came out even better than the inspiration photo and I love it so much! John was on time, the work station was clean, and he took his time making sure it was perfect. I would 100% recommend him!

Probably shouldn’t advertise, “Friday the 13th tattoos until 3 AM” if you’re going to turn people down at 11:30. Probably shouldn’t take from 11:30 until “4 AM” as you say when you barely have people in your studio. Friday the 13th tattoos are supposed to be quick. If you’re allowing people to make a bunch of modifications for more of a cash grab, you’re somewhat defeating the purpose and ruining the event. Especially when you advertise until 3 AM. I’ve been getting Friday the 13th tatts for years- they are supposed to take 10-20 minutes at most with experienced artists. Been to multiple shops on the island and thought we would take a chance tonight only to be very disappointed. Lesson learned, you guys lost business in more than one person tonight.

I wish I could add a photo but its not giving me the option. They put a stringy tattoo on my wife and when she complained they gave her a million excuses as to why it looked that way and then put freaking masking tape on her to hold what looked to be a makeshift bandage. It didnt open on time and the place was extremely trashy. So if you want an overpriced low quality tattoo then by all means visit this clown shop. I had an awesome experience here. I would highly recommend this shop to everyone. All of the artists/staff were friendly, the shop was clean and compliant with all the Covid requirements, and overall it just had a good vibe. I had scheduled an appointment with John Boy and he was ready on time. He was able to take the mermaid image I had in mind and make it unique to me. I love the art work he did and look forward to going back for John to add some water detail to her.

Service from the get-go was terrible. Guy with no mask on tells us to put our mask on, rules for thee and not for me type of establishment. Didnt go through with the tattoo because of poor service and rudeness. Seeing how they unprofessionally handle customers drove me towards not providing them with any business. Not a good place, look somewhere else.

Had my ankle tattoo done by John Boy, I was super impressed with the work that was done. We went in on our honeymoon in June and my husband and I both got tattoos done and both turned out fantastic. Even with the wait outside due to COVID regulations it wasnt bad and we both left very happy with our work. I will say these guys arent going to baby anyone and if you cant sit theyre not going to make special accommodations for you but I kind of like that attitude in my tattoo artist.

There were supposed to be 2 people in front of me and ended up being 4 and he hadnt even started the 3 ahead of me yet. Had just started their paper work. Was in Galveston for the weekend and decided to drop in for my first tattoo. Was definitely nervous but the staff was super welcoming and funny which made me feel very comfortable. John boy did an amazing job on my tattoo and was super patient w me being a nervous first timer lol. it was overall a great experience, my friend went back the next day to get his done after seeing how mine turned out. Will for sure be back when I’m in the area again!

By far the best experience I’ve had in a tattoo shop, the other day I went and got a tattoo I’ve been meaning to get for months but just haven’t had the time because I work a lot and the tattoo shop I usually go to opens when I am at work and closes before I get off, I had got off around 10:30 or so and found this place on the internet but I wasn’t sure about it at first cause I had never been but all my doubts were blown away as I got a family members name on my arm! By far my new favorite tattoo it was done within good time and it is amazing quality! A bit pricey but affordable for a permanent tattoo but if you don’t have around $100 then maybe more should be saved up as my tattoo was $100 but I found it affordable because it was amazingly done and I can’t say beyond belief how happy I am with it, I have two other tattoos that didn’t turn out exactly right but this shop really gets the job done! Thank y’all so much for my new tattoo!!

Shop is nice and friendly. Red did two tattoos for me and did an amazing job. His attention for detail is what really makes it amazing. But overall, his manners with people are what they should be. Treats you with respect. Educates you on what is being done. Great environment.

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever encountered at any tattoo shop. If your an artist you thrive on successfully satisfying your regular customers. The old man with the long grey beard was extremely rude. We called ahead and emailed pictures prior to visit. Called upon arrival and was refused service. Time out of my evening to accomplish nothing!! Very very poor customer service!!!

I paid for my work to be done and was left in the chair for over 15 minutes easily before the artist even did anything extremely unprofessional.

John gave me my first tattoo today. He came in early to fit to my schedule, and did a fantastic job. He made me feel so comfortable about the whole process and I cannot wait to get more. 10/10 recommendation for this place and 10/10 for John being the tattoo artist. Also everyone in there is so fun to be around. Great people and great atmosphere.

Went to pick up a set of either tunnels or plugs due to losing one in the ocean on vacation. Called before hand and they said they had plenty. Wasn’t told about needing to wear a mask to enter the shop (which wasn’t a big deal but would’ve been nice to know beforehand on the phone so I would’ve been prepared) told the guy selling the jewelry 6 different times that I needed 1/2 inch tunnels or plugs and it didn’t matter what they looked like as I had some at home that I would be swapping them for when I got back. He either wasn’t listening very well or just didn’t care because he kept asking me if I needed 1-1/2 or just 1/2. Instead of using the metal gauge tool that you can hook a tunnel or plug into to see the size he was measuring them with what looked to be a piece of paper. I purchase the set he says is 1/2 and then only realize once I got back to my AirBnB that they were actually 5/8s which obviously won’t work.

I had an appointment at another shop who had no record of the appointment..... then told me the tattoo I wanted was ‘impossible.’ So we went to American Dragon and Red completely hooked it up! I got a heart made from my son’s fingerprints.... I LOVE the way it turned out! They were very friendly and professional... I’m so grateful for their help. This is a great tattoo shop, the best in galveston. I went to a few shops on the island before I went to this one and let me tell you none of them had customer service, none of them say hi, need help nothing, wait Ill take that back one person ask if I need help as I was walking out the door after being in there for 10 minutes so I waved as I was walking out, I gave up until I stopped to get a Daiquiri and I realize there was a tattoo shop next door, so I had a daiquiri then order one to go then I walked next door to the Dragon. I walked in to the dragon tattoo & within 30 seconds I got by someone the piercer I believe take your time look around, you need anything just say something when you are ready, I said thanks looked around & about 2/3 minutes went by & another person specked up & said to me we also do custom tattoos & we have the internet to help you as well if you cant fine anything on the wall, so I like the vibe here already. So I finally was ready to talk & I talked to tattoo guy Bret about covering up the hooker I use to date & I told him I wanted some type of wolf, so bret told me give me about 30 minutes or so to do some research & draw something up and we can do something if you like it, so I told him I will be next door drinking and see what this blonde bartender story is, when you done come get me & I look what he comes up with. So about 40 minutes went by bret came got me then he shown me this wolf and what he had plan to do with it and I must say I think it came out better then what he said. In closing I want to say I will recommend bret and this shop to everyone I know & Ill tell people I dont know as well, if you on the island & want a tattoo go see them, bret had a light hand he cover up my ex candy name up great and the piercer gave me a few shots, go see dragon tattoo.. 10 stars if it went that high

Went into this shop on Saturday afternoon and asked about getting a small palm tree tattoo for 4 people. Talked to a man with a grey beard, he stated it would be 60-80 dollars, we told him we would be back with everyone at a later date. We go back Tuesday night and he tells us because it is something we pulled off the internet it will be an their hourly fee of 120. So, we ask him to show us what flash art he has of palm trees. He shows us three different ones that look nothing like what we originally showed him. We decide on one and he asks where we want them. We tell him and he says 100 each. At this point we are like that’s fine we will do it because we wanted a tattoo to commemorate our trip. Then he says oh I can’t even do it right now I have an appointment at 10. He said we could come back the next day when we were leaving. He completely wasted our time. He was very rude. Horrible customer service.If you are in Galveston go to The Tattoo Shop and ask for Chano. Chano and his staff were amazing! They gave us exactly what we wanted!

Hollywood Keith was so great with my 7yo. He wanted his ear pierced for so long, so we decided to find a tattoo shop and get it done right. Even though my kid was scared and wiggled/moved his head around a lot.... Keith never lost his cool, he kept talking to him, and being very kind and gentle. And our kiddo was very happy at the end!

John Boy did a flower cluster piece on my thigh and it’s now my favorite tattoo! American dragon is a very well kept clean tattoo place that I will definitely be getting more tattoos at in the future. Very friendly environment. We walked in around 6 and got set up quickly. We spent about an hour and half there (2 people one after the other tattooed by same artist) Tattoos look great. All employees were talkative and great. Highly recommend.
