Oh man, this place was an incredible maze of treasures! Visiting the area and our SIL suggested we drop by. Of course my husband made friends w/the owner Brett and we will definitely be back before we leave.Brett was friendly, kind and informative. Yes, the place is a hoarders paradise, yes, its beyond crowded, yes, its stack/pile heaven and yes, theres an odd smell lingering but it was tolerable. If you have patience and a nose to dig, you will find treasures!Once you past the initial administrative offices and make it to the back of the jail house, each cell is a cave of forgotten treasures. If you collect it, its probably in there. I collects Madonnas and he took me straight to the cell that had a little shelf full of them.Brett invited us to go upstairs as there were other floors full of small furniture but it was too hot, maybe next time.😁EVERY, SINGLE SQUARE INCH IS PACKED.Consider this old jail, a massive building filled w/wonder, stories, vintage and antiques, a great place to find the forgotten.Ps. I use a cane and just had to be a little careful to get around things.

Cluttered, no semblance of organization, some areas even smelled of garbage. I had no idea who to even talk to about purchasing something. Feels more like walking through a hoarders house than an antique shop.

Ive seen every episode of hoarders and this place is for sure a product of hoarding. Dirty, smelly, and overpriced. Fire hazards galore, as far as I could tell there was only one way out of the hoarded building. Lights were out everywhere, no lights in the stairwell. Fire department needs to shut this place down.

The place is a mess and has some unique smells. We found the owner very nice and willing to work with us. We found several great items and deals. If you dont mind digging for items this is the place for you.

Great shop - fascinating old jail building with something for everyone. Owner is a sweetheart and very knowledgeable. Hes also very patient - the other day I overheard some rude customers beating him up over prices (do you do that at the gas station or grocery store, people?). He was more polite than I would be.

Owner was super nice. I didnt even buy anything because I was looking for something specific. The owner wasnt pushy at all and took 10 minutes to tell me other places I could look to find it. Other reviews complain about it having a lot of junk. I would say the entryway looks pretty bad, but once you get inside its decently organized and a really interesting building. I felt bad not buying anything because I liked the guy so much I wanted to help him out.

This is definitely not a hoarders antique store, some people seem to expect all antique stores to be pristine and perfect πŸ˜’ I actually quite like this place, I enjoy being able to look through things to find hidden treasures. Ive been in far worse places where you quite literally couldnt walk around. I didnt have a problem walking around anywhere here. The only problem I had with the place was the smell. It clung to my clothes and really sunk into my lungs for the rest of the day. Still worth checking out though!

If you like antique stores, skip this one. If you like dumpster diving, by all means, visit. Its over-priced, first of all. But thats a secondary concern compared to other flaws: its dirty, its freezing cold, it consists of piles upon piles of junk, with no organization that I could see. Half of this stuff isnt antique at all, but just plain garbage, amassed, apparently, by a hoarder. We expected rats and roaches to scurry across our feet at any moment. The exterior is dumpy and littered with trash. Its a shame, too, because its located in a historic building with an interesting history, and the old jail cells are used as booths. This could be a very quirky place, if it was managed and maintained properly. But it isnt. Hard pass.

Lots of incredible, old stuff. Lots of junk too. Not very well organized but if youre a picker or you have the time there are some good finds. Definitely overpriced for the most part. Youd think with that much inventory it would be priced to move. Also, no service; its just the owner and he lives there because of a medical condition.

Being able to visit an old jail and walk through the halls and holding cells is about the only good thing at Old Jail Antiques. The prices on most of the antiques are really high. Service is non existent and usually there is no one around to answer questions. There are much better deals in Watertown.

Even if you found something of value or something you wanted, odds are its in slightly deteriorating conditions OR you wont be able to get it out to put it in your car to buy. Had to use flashlights upstairs even though there were lights.

Our recent trip to the store was a disappoinment to say the least. When we arrived we were told the power was out. But if we wanted to use our phones as flash lights we could. Which to us sounded like a great idea. We figured it would make our shopping experience even better. Even though we figured it would be a little cold inside. I typically go to this store three to four times a year. But havent been able to get there in about a year. To say the place has gone down hill is an understatement. We started upstairs first. As we were walking around upstairs we literally had to move stuff out of the pathway. In order for us to get back to the stairs. Without us having to go all the back through the other rooms. Which personally is dangerous in the event of a fire. Once we got down stairs we noticed how cluttered it seemed. You couldnt go into the area that is next to the stairs. Because there is boxes everywhere. We started going through the first few areas. The walkway was narrow but it was manageable. As soon as we were away from the front door, we were hit with an foul order. We turned to go into an area to the right of the pathway. During this time we did pass a bathroom. The smell was so bad we had to hold our breath and go back the other way. So we missed some of the areas on the other side of the bathroom. There was also another set of customers in the store doing the same thing. After leaving that area we went over to where the cells actually are. For the most part this area was good. The smell wasnt as bad as it was in the other section. The guy who was there working for offer to give us a basket to hold the items we were collecting. I went with him to get the basket, from the check out area. He placed the items we had already decided that we wanted to purchase on a bed. Which I didnt pay much attention to. As I was soon distracted by the fact he needed to take nuts out of the basket to give it to me. I went back and joined my group, once he gave me a basket. After finishing up in the cell area, welooked in another little area which was like nice. Then we went back to the check out area. I collected the items from the bed where he had placed them. That way I could put them with the stuff in the basket we also wanted to buy. We really wanted to get out of there rather quickly. Due to the fact that this room also had a terrible odor. I figure having everything together would help speed up check out. THERE WAS LITERALLY DIRTY SOCKS AND A SMALL BLOW UP DOLL ON THE BED NEXT TO OUR ITEMS. The room that check out is in, is worse then any hoarding show Ive seen on TV. Literally the room only has a narrow pathway you can walk down. Two people can not pass each other in this area. Because there is so much stuff everywhere. And I dont mean like valuable antiques. I mean literally just random junk. There isnt even a clean spot on a counter to put the items you are purchasing to check out. There was random food placed amongst the stuff in this area. There was several objects we would have loved to have looked at, on the wall opposite the check out area. But it was physically impossible to get to them. This use to be a beautiful place to shop. And now it is turning into the largest case of hoarding Ive ever seen. The place where check out is use to have nice glass cases with jewelery in them. Now they appear to be chuck full of clothes or something along those lines. After we stood there waiting a few minutes we called for him and he did come to check us out. He had to use the bed as a counter to take out stuff out the basket. At this point b we were so over the gross conditions we told him to just put everything in the bag. And to not worry about wrapping it up. Mind you we were buying China and Porcelain items. We just wanted them tossed in the bag so we could get out into the fresh air.

I went there and only part of the building had electric that day, so a woman who worked there asked if I would like a flashlight to walk around. I did since I had never been there. I would say there was a ton of glassware and the few pieces I looked at were over priced as compared to other shops. There big pieces of furniture also very over priced. Things were very dirty and disorganized. I nearly died at the hoarding at the exit/ entry piled to the ceiling. As I left a chipmunk was on the floor walking about eating a nut near the owners computer area piled with nasty. So I set the flashlight on the counter and walked away and so did another couple. I wont be back...
