It was very quick and easy! I decided to go on a whim, and was excited to be driving away in my rental truck within ~20 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful. I liked that I was able to complete the return process on my phone, and the location was convenient for me.

Equipment rental process and cargo van were fine. The automated part of the process worked fairly well. What marred the entire experience was the attitude of the customer service agent at the desk at this location.She was aggressive, arrogant and dismissive of the customer for no reason at all. I understand that such an attitude may get built up over a period of time working in such a position but it has no place when you are working in a customer service position.Her attitude tarnished the U-Haul brand and soured what might otherwise have been a good experience. I know that workforce issues are affected by the pandemic and labor shortages but there is no excuse for such behavior toward customers. No, I will not return to this location. I will not recommend this location.

I used the fully automated process online to pick up and return a van. I only interfaced with a person to pick up and drop off the key which was a 20 second process. Price was within a couple dollars of the estimate. No room for improvement from my experience.

This charge is UNACCEPTABLE and nearly DOUBLE THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT I WAS QUOTED.I decided to rent this truck with the assumption it would be cheaper to move the furniture myself rather than hire someone. It turns out the charge was MORE, AND I had to do the heavy lifting myself. Your fees are extremely misleading, which makes it impossible for the consumer to make well informed decisions. I have been using Uhaul for years and have never ran into any issues like this. Unless you’re able to reduce some of these charges, I will never use your company again.

Employees implement their own rules, rules that are NOT written in their policy. On 6/30/21, Haplessly, I needed the U-Haul for an extra day due to unforeseen circumstances. I called the branch multiple times between 7-8am to apprise U haul employees that one extra day was needed. Someone inside the U-Haul deliberately picked up the phone each time and laid it down. My call was never acknowledged. Later on this day 7/1/21, an employee from this branch called my cell phone in regards to rental return. This in particular employee apprised me of my card would be charged $50 PER EACH individual that “I” inconvenienced. She stated that the truck was “reserved” for THREE other customers. So, because I was unable to returned vehicle at the allotted time, my card was charged an ADDITIONAL $392 extra dollars. NON of the employees could show me where this “rule” is located in their POLICY. This is NOT acceptable and unfair!!

We reserved a month in advance and then they did not have the truck at the time we reserved it at. When we reserved the truck it said that a representative would call us to confirm our reservation. We thought that would happen no problem, but instead we were told the day before we needed it that the truck was unavailable.

Do not trust or rely on this location. Literally will do everything possible to avoid using U-Haul again after this experience.Scheduled a 6am self-service pick-up and because no one prepared our truck the night prior, when I arrived at 5:50am and tried to complete the mobile check-in process, it came up with a screen saying I would have to wait until 7am for someone to arrive to hand off the vehicle. Had to call customer service and Uber to the nearest location on 5th where the equipment I payed for wasn’t in the truck that I would be using and the access code to my vehicle key lock wouldn’t work. The only reason everything went OK was because an employee arrived early and was able to get our key for us and our equipment.Thx for nothing

The truck was stuck behind another truck, so all my planning went bad having had to go to the actual office, get in line, and finish the process manually. 30 minutes lost, which impacted my moving schedule in my new building. So all the online check out didnt work at all. Now, the truck. It had several alert lights on. Issues with the tires and a blinking alert light that who knows what the issue was. Also, the right mirror was broken, so you couldnt adjust the angle. Very dangerous for driving, it was a nightmare. I couldnt just come back to change the truck because I was so late due to U-Haul issues giving me a blocked truck that I couldnt move. Also, the paperwork said I had to refill 1/4 of the tank, but the actual reading said 1/8. I ended up filling it almost half, so there it goes, I gave you free gas. In general, dear U-Haul, a very bad experience. Not worth almost $100 for a few hours (and I havent added, the surprise of going from Only $19 for renting to $100. What a way to manipulate your marketing U-Haul! In summary, very disappointed. Not coming again for sure.

Everything about my experience was good - across the board. The employee working in the lot was helpful. Being able to pick-up the car and drop it off using my phone was convenient. The employee inside the shop was courteous. I have used Uhaul for moves before, and I will definitely be using them again!

I took a picture of the dashboard before I used the cargo van showing 6669 miles. I returned the cargo with 6678 miles and I was charged 42 miles!!! Luckily I took a pic before the dashboard. I live 2 miles away from U Haul and did a 2 mile-trip. I will challenge this charge with my bank if not fixed promptly. U Haul has not contacted me so far. Also, refilled the gas tank and they charges me $15 when I added gas for the 9 miles trip I made. I received the keys at 12:49 pm. Attached is the pic when I entered the van at 12:59 pm

U-Haul should make it clear that the mobile pick-up option requires an approval process, in which the customer must wait for approval to rent via an online service that verifies the customers drivers license and may ultimately call the additional contacts that the customer lists to verify identity/responsibility before the keys to the U-Haul truck can be obtained. I waited in the parking lot watching the mobile app pinwheel for about 20 minutes before I could get the keys to my truck. Even once I was approved and got the keys to my assigned truck, the customer in the truck in front of me was not yet approved so I had to wait additional time. Eventually the U-Haul employees helped move this truck out of the way for me, but only once I waited for another 5 minutes and then complained inside. This experience was quite frustrating and unexpected. Because the approval process cannot begin until you are in the parking lot (or within a certain GPS range) and within few minutes of the beginning of the rental period, I was not aware of this 20+ minute process until I was already running behind schedule. I selected 9:30am as my pick-up time and arrived at 9:20, thinking I could leave the lot by at least 9:45, as I had scheduled a reservation with my buildings freight elevator beginning at 10am. I did not pull out of the U-Haul parking lot until 9:55, which was not anticipated or factored into my moving plan for the day. The truck itself as well as the staff inside the U-Haul retail store were all up to my expectations. Just was quite frustrated by the extra time wasted standing in the parking lot with no idea how long it might be until I could get the keys and head out. Not the most stress-free way to begin moving day! Otherwise, the equipment was great and the truck fit all of my stuff. I will certainly use U-Haul again in the future, but be sure to allow for more time for issues like online approval and getting blocked in the parking lot.

Beware! Find an alternative if you can. U Hall trucks and vans are old, really old, and hence unsafe. Their extra charges will astonish you, such as $25 for clean up. This company is run by crooks waiting to exploit you.

I have used this Uhaul location several times in the last few months. There are a number of young men who work here and they work hard. Everyone is consistantly working! Running trucks, checking in/out customers, answering calls, cleaning trucks, just hustling. I saw one of the guys get loudly yelled at by a customer, his response was short, professional and calm. The staff is cool, and I think thats a huge factor in this places success.

The ramp was not attached to the 15” truck and it was impossible to use with the dolly. No discount offered for the inconvenience. Even our movers who work with U-Haul regularly said they had never seen a truck ramp like that and tried to fix it themselves but it would not slide under the truck.

The employees may not explain what are mobile pickup, online reservation and no contact pick up to you. I waited 40 extra min to finally get my van because of U Haul’s mistake and when I returned the van 10 min late (which could have been avoided if U Hail didn’t mess up my reservation), I was charged extra. BEWARE!!!! This moving company is not even worth 1 star, but apparently you cannot give 0 stars. I had reserved a 10’ rental truck weeks in advance from the date of pick-up. The day prior to my move date, I received an email that my time for pick-up had been changed. Okay, not the end of the world. I called my movers and changed the timing of their arrival--I figured it would all work out. The next day I arrived at U-Haul at my new pick-up time (mind you it was 3 hours later than what I had scheduled originally) and found a line around the block. One of the customers ahead of me told me that the U-Haul system was down. I tried to go ask one of the employees for more information since I had made a reservation and I was completely ignored. After waiting outside in the sun for 1.5 hours, I made it to the desk and was finally acknowledged--well partially acknowledged because one employee was helping me and another customer simultaneously and only answering about 25% of my questions. I explained that I had a reservation. They looked up my information, found my reservation and then said “Sorry, our system is down, we cannot give you the truck”. I proceeded to ask why and they explained that they could not accept my payment. I asked if they could record my credit card information and charge me when the system came back online because I had movers in my apartment waiting for me, they refused. I asked if I could pay once I got to my destination, again they refused. I asked if I could pay in cash and they refused. Honestly, I was trying everything and they were not budging. They said that I could wait to see if their system returned back online. How is that even a possibility? I had movers. I had to be out of my apartment that day. I did not have time to wait around to see if maybe their system came back on. That was not a reasonable solution. Okay so fast forward. I ended up panic calling every place in the DMV that had rental trucks. I was able to find a truck in VA for 3x the price of the U-Haul, but hey at least I could move now that I was 6 hours behind my original scheduled plan. THEN what really put the icing on the cake was U-Haul had the audacity to call me about 2.5 hours after I had left U-Haul, where they had refused to give me the truck that I had reserved even though the could see my reservation and had the truck on the lot, and ask me for the truck number that they had given me because they forgot to record it. I had to tell the employee that they refused to give me a truck. The woman insisted I had a truck. It was the worst customer experience. I will never ever use U-Haul again. Luckily I was able to find another company and make my move, but honestly I don’t know how U-Haul remains in business when this is how they treat their customers.

Every single time Ive tried to use this place there has been some problem that makes pickup and return a drawn-out time-wasting mess. The last time was the last straw. It took 45 minutes to get my keys. They reassured me I could self-return after hours with no additional fees, even though my reservation ran until closing, but when I did return after hours on the same day, they charged me for two days. I called to request a refund for the second day, but they refused. They were unable to point to anything in writing that justified the double charge, and refused to accept responsibility for their own employees statements. Clueless and bumbling operation that makes you pay for their mistakes. That is the last time Ill use them.

When I had a minor mixup on times where I was supposed to check in at the end of the day on some newfangled App (which would NOT have worked on my phone), they said No worries, well take care of it - and they did! Next morning, my final receipt for the mileage came through looking exactly as it should. Really decent, hardworking guys there!

I had a 10:00 reservation that was scheduled days in advance. I was present at the time of my online pickup. I was not approved to receive keys until after 10:17. I had issues accessing the lockbox and with a line out the door with only one person servicing waited until after 11:00 to get to the counter. When the service person at the counter assisted me with the lockbox, we found it empty. The keys for my vehicle were missing! When we eventually found them, the service people were quite helpful. They pulled the truck out for me, but with over an hour cut from my reservation, I needed to scramble to get my move. I was given a truck at almost empty gas, so I needed to refuel, taking more time. By the time I had done that, it was time to return my rental truck (before getting my furniture) in order to avoid fees for a late return.

I have no record of what mileage I turned the truck in so I cant successfully dispute it. My oversight aside, that seems like shady business.

The location was very understaffed. We waited in line for 25 minutes. There were several workers walking past without acknowledging customers waiting in line. When we went to the lot to get our rental. The person working in the lot was no where to be found. After walking around the parking lot several times we found the worker inside the U-haul on his cell phone. We finally got in our U-haul there was no air. We had to get back in line and waiting an additional 20 minutes. The young lady working the counter on the morning of 7/3/20 was very nice but overwhelmed as all her co-workers seemed to be purposely avoiding customers. The lock on the truck did not work. Overall the service was average. I would rate worse but the young lady at the desk did all she could but she needs help. One line open in the heart of Capitol Hill is unacceptable.

Ive had two great experiences at this U-Haul over the last month. The location is great — easy to get to on the train in NoMa if youre coming that way, as well as easy curb parking on K Street on off-peak hours and all day on weekends. It seems to have improved since a few years ago with a new manager. Hes been on-site both times Ive rented for a day on a Saturday, and things were pretty seamless both times. I had to wait ten minutes or so inside to check in the first time, but as to be expected, Saturdays are always a little busier with lots of folks doing daily rental. (The second visit I was there right after 7am, and had zero wait at all.) After checking in, we got our truck from the guys outside within 2-3 minutes, and when returning, we were checked in and sent on our way in 2-3 minutes again, both times. As for the rest of the customer service inside, Ill say this: you catch more flies with honey, folks. Ask folks how their day is going. Be friendly and youll often get the same in return. Oh, and our first rental was a brand new cargo van which was spotless and terrific. The second rental was a 15 box truck which was a little older (86k miles) but we had no problems with it whatsoever. Well be back for our next one-day in-town rental for sure.

The sign outside and the website states that due to COVID-19 there are trucks available without entering the store. This is a complete lie; we’ve been waiting here for over an hour as around 50 customers try to get trucks at the same time and are REQUIRED to enter the store to get keys. People are doing their best to social distance but the system does NOT keep their customers safe and falsely advertises safety from COVID-19!! Just a warning to everyone else if you’re trying to social distance don’t come here, the process makes it impossible and is completely misleading.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this uhal location and will not be returning even though it is just a few minutes away from where I live. The staff was unhelpful, rude, and disrespectful from the moment I arrived. Moving is already a stressful experience to begin with, being met with this type of service only makes matters worse. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a Uhaul. Everything from check in to the ridiculous bill I have now received with extra charges and no acknowledgement from the business that the truck I drove for 1.8 miles had a STEAMING ENGINE and I had to wait for roadside assistance for 2 HOURS is completely ridiculous. It took me 1.5 hours to receive my truck using the virtual check in option, and while the staff are actually great and were doing everything they could, there were only 3 employees for over 60 customers and their system for pick up was absolutely terrible. complete mayhem. If you are using the virtual check in, its very likely that you will be assigned a van that is 5 cars deep in the parking lot and not accessible. So then you will have to get another van. and for that, you must wait in line for 40 mins. All of this, including the lack of staff, is probably part of the reason that after 1.5 hours of waiting, I ended up with a BROKEN VAN barely filled with any gas. And now they have the audacity to charge me for the gas. Somehow I ended up paying $100 for an advertised $20 cargo van and a complete nightmare that added 3.5 hours to my stressful move in day. I will be calling to request a refund for some of the services. Uhauls roadside assistance guy (separate entity) was great and helpful. Came in 2.5 hours after calling.

Convenient, painless, and well priced. I had a lot of things go wrong with my move and a lot of unnecessary stress, my moving van rental was the easiest part of my whole house-hunt and move.Reserved my van online with less than 1-hour notice, filled all my info. Place is only a few blocks from the Union Station metro. Checking out the van took less than 10 minutes, the girl at the desk and the guy at the lot were friendly and helpful. Youre renting the van for 4 hours, but we close in 3 hours, so just park it at the lot before 7:00am, so you basically have 15 hours, but no extra charge. They knew the answer to all my questions, and the guy from the lot ran over to the office to pick up the keys when I forgot to take them.Van was clean and well-maintained, drove very well. Fit all of my stuff (studio apt) with room to spare. Drop off at the end was easy and fast, park the van and put the key in the drop box.Whole thing cost me about $50 ($20 for van, $11 insurance, $7 dolly rental, ~$10 for gas).This place suited all my needs efficiently and at an excellent price.

This was an absolutely wretched experience. The people working were unable or unwilling to help me. Nobody explained anything to me, or had me sign any paperwork or provide any information. A dude in a parking lot just handed me a key. Im not even sure if he actually worked there. I’ve used this location several times to rent vehicles but this case my low review is based on the UHaul online pick up experience. Not only when I arrived to pick up the vehicle were there extra steps that could have been done in advance while on a desktop, but the online chat feature was slow, and the representative dismissive and unhelpful. To be honest, your online pick up is one of the worst experiences I have had renting a vehicle.

Long lines and cannot have a reservation where the driver’s name is different than the card-holder. Making mobile orders very difficult. Beware of the General Manager!!!! After being told that I could review my balanced owed online, I requested the balance before I left. The manager became angry and pointed to a scratch that we made. I did not hit anything when driving the van. The scratch was old and when I challenged him, things got worst. My uber driver said they did the same thing to his wife. I had $151.00 deducted from my account for the scratch. BEWARE!!!

I was charged a bs damage fee on the rim. I never did the walk around so I could not prove that the scratch didnt occur. Your agent did not tell me to do a walk around. He just sent me a bunch of text messages prior to me taking the truck. Additionally, I had issues dropping the truck off after hours as my order was not tied to my account. Shady operation.

We used these guys this weekend for just a van rental. But we gave them only a day and a half warning that we needed the van and not only were they on it but every single person we dealt with was incredibly nice and friendly. Even the two or three that we never even dealt with directly said hello, offered assistance, and were just in a generally very welcoming, happy mood. These guys really hauled ass on a incredibly busy Sunday. Really appreciate their hustle and speediness getting everyone through the line at a nice pace, given the line was out the door. We only had to wait 15 minutes, if that. Very clean facility. Careful the stoplight where they sit at the intersection is also a red-light camera courtesy of MPD. Thanks guys!

I was way overcharged. Hidden fees, complicated mobile process requiring location services and DIY photos, hidden drop off fee. I was charged more than 4 times the quoted price. Im going to get some of my money back for the deceptive practices employed.

Im an old head. I remember driving U-Haul trucks that didnt not have an aligned steering column. That meant being all over the road. I was pleased to see modern vehicles that were clean. The staff was friendly. The day I went it was 1000 degrees in the shade and they handled it like a boss.

Christina Meese, the women who helped me, was rude to the point of hostility. I dont have a smart phone so I couldnt do some of the steps digitally. I had just rented at a different location the day before and it had been no problem, but she wouldnt help me. I only got a truck because her coworker stepped in and made it happen. He also finally helped me when she was refusing to check me back in. Moving is stressful enough without unnecessary nonsense like that. She is in the wrong business.

Great pickup experience, price was very fair. (I used my truck less than anticipated, so they charged me less than the estimate.). 4 stars because at drop off the signs said to wait in vehicle for a uhaul rep, but nobody was there. Turns out I dropped off during a shift change (at 1:30 in the afternoon?). Not a huge inconvenience, but just enough to bring down to 4 stars.

The staff here are really friendly and courteous. It was great speaking with Pat and Robyn at the desk and Douglas was very friendly and helpful in getting the truck prepared and walking me through it. I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

The staff that was there was nice. However, I was inconvenienced first by having to go there at the last minute to get the items I ordered to rent from another location. Then when I got there the key to the truck wss was missing. So, my trip was delayed. It was an awful start to moving my family out of state.
