The place needs a little TLC in the waiting area but since it is a garage I will not fault them much in that area. Now idk about the bathrooms tho 😆

I needed a lot of work on my car. Front end alignment, tie end rods and new tires ( my new tires were ruined by my bad front end). They took their time and did it right. Thanks guys. My baby is driving lots better.

If i could give this place zero stars i would. If you like bad service and being taken adventage off, then this is your place. I came here to get a quote on getting the spark plugs on a 08 mazda 3 and getting the alternator checked to verify if its the cause of my ignition issues. I was instrusted to wait inside while they inspected the car ( which they did not due until I asked what was tsking so long) to later find out what they over looked what I initially came here for and added valve cover gaskets and other stuff to fluff up the bill up to around $1,300. That quote did not even include the started that needed to be checked and what they did was just attempt to charge a battery and charge an additional $40 for a servicr I did not ask for. After all that they charged $174.97 for a quote. I went to another place who can actually follow directions and not fluff up an estimate.

Beware of this location!! I brought my car in because the brake fluid light in my car was on and was told I would need new brake sensors, brake pads, and needed the main belt replaced for a total of $1451. I took my car into the BMW dealership for a second opinion and was told I just needed to get a brake fluid flush and the pads & main belt were fine. The brake fluid flush was only $200. Do NOT trust the staff at this location. I had my oil changed here before and thought they were trustworthy but after this experience, I will NEVER go back.

Went for an oil change. Got my car back to find that they had splashed oil over a good bit of the area under my hood and on my windshield. Looks like that took one swipe with a paper towel and left the rest. Didn’t mention it when I got it back. Acknowledging it would have been enough. Also said I “needed” to get my brakes checked... for $12.95. Won’t be back.

I used MIDAS for the first time at Forestvill, MD to change oil for a Fifty dollars. My experience was 5 Stars. I moved from MD, Today shopped by phone for another MIDAS. Called this store in DC. Shared my previous experience. He said come and I will get it done as far as you have the same phone number. He repeated it twice, I will get it done for you. Just come. When arrived the Front Desk confirmed the Fifty Dollars cost. However, the moment I gave the key, the Word which was already confirmed was changed in less than a couple of minutes. If you believe in Principles and the value of Keeping the Given Word, then this store is not for you at all.

Christian is awesome. I bring both my cars here and time and time again get excellent and quick service. Ive got older cars but use them very frequently so he tells me what’s going on with the car, what repairs are immediate and what repairs or maintenance I should plan for coming up. Honest and reliable. Couldn’t ask for anything more in a mechanic.

I live in Washington DC near the Rhode Island Ave. NE location. My usual mechanic was overloaded with work to do. I decided to use the Rhode Island Ave. location to get some repairs done to my vehicle. Each visit cost me $1,000 give or take a few hundreds of dollars. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that that shop is untrustworthy. They told me I had leaks and refused to fix what I asked to be repaired. According to my original mechanic they changed parts that did not need to be replaced. My mechanic found a green solution in my power steering pump. I did not pour it in the reservoir. No one else has worked on my vehicle except the mechanic who has been working on it for years and Midas on Rhode Island. The shop manager at Midas said the power steering pump I purchased did not fit because it was the wrong part. Well it has been installed on my vehicle by my regular mechanic and works good. My neighbors asked about my vehicle and I shared my experience. The neighbors said I should have told them I was going to take my vehicle to Midas and they would have told me they were rif raf. Three visits and my bank account was draining. They overcharged me, and did not fix my problem, on my last visit they gave my vehicle back with fluid running out on the ground. I am very displeased with the service I receive and highly recommend vehicle owners to stay away from that location. I am happy because my mechanic fixed the problems they could not fix and caught the problem someone there tried to create for me. My advice is to stay away from this shop!

I scheduled an appointment and went for a routine oil change. They finally took my car back and said I was due for a brake inspection as well (which I though was weird since there were no lights on and the car is fairly new - 2017 with only 20,000 miles). They then told me my brakes were in the red and dangerous to drive on and that i would need new brakes, roters, and pads. Ultimately this would cost me over $1000. The girl told me that they could just keep my car and do the repairs right then. I refused (since I had already been there over 2 hours for an oil change) and said i wanted Nissan to do the repairs. They told me my car wasnt safe to drive on. I brought my Rogue to Priority Nissan two days later. They did a complete safety inspection, checked brakes, pads, and roters were in great condition and didnt even charge me. Dont trust this Midas!

These folks were literally ANGELS for my daughter and I today!!! We are on a trip to the DC area and the check engines light came on in our Ford Escape last night. I called and spoke with Sherry, explained our situation and she reassured us they would be able to look at it today. Before noon we had a call back and knew what needed fixing. Christian was the technician who talked us thru everything and answered all my questions. Then, much to my surprise, they called back before 4pm and said it was all done!!!I am not used to that level of rapid response from an out-of-town car repair shop!! My daughter and I tried to get back before closing, but there was a delay on the Metro Line. Even more amazing... Christian called and offered to pick us up from the Metro station when we arrived and take us to the Midas to settle up so we could have our car today!!!I am very pleased and impressed with the level of service, customer care and attention to detail we experienced with this particular Midas shop. I cannot thank them enough for saving our vacation!!!

I had an amazing experience today at the Midas on Rhode Island ave!Decided to wake up early Saturday morning, be productive and multitask. Called over to the Midas to inquire about an oil change, I was pleasantly greeted on the phone and was told to come on in and that I would be taken care of. Grabbed my laundry, because I knew the shop was conveniently located near a laundromat.Checked my car in at the reception desk quickly, headed to remove my laundry bags from my car and as I prepared to walk to the laundromat the manager Christian stopped me and offered me a ride over and said to call the shop once I’m done and I’d be picked up.Never have I received such amazing customer service!! I’ll be a customer for life because of this awesome experience.My Saturday is running smooth and so is my car!

Literally the only competent person at this location is a technician named Adam. The poor guy spends all of his time cleaning up the poorly and/or NOT performed (but paid for) services of the other “workers.”Of a simple oil change and tire rotation, I had to return 3 times- to have my fluids actually filled, to have my tires actually rotated, and to have the excess, burning oil cleaned from my engine. Basically, unless you’re willing to stand and watch the work done, or you’re lucky enough to catch Adam, good luck.

Terrible customer service, the big guy at the front desk had an attitude like I forced him to work there. After 2 hours, finally got an estimate on my repairs and it was extremely overpriced. Went to another auto shop and ended up paying less than half of the midas estimate. Strongly advise you to go elsewhere for car repairs

Liars, thieves and vandals. Do not trust these people with your car. We went to them with our Honda Civic and asked them to do three things: change our oil, replace our transmission fluid without flushing, and replace our front breaks. After looking at the car, they called us and said we needed rear breaks also and the total estimate would be $2,300! We refused and asked them to only replace the oil and transmission fluid, but based on our interaction with them over the estimate, we were concerned what they would do to our car. They argued with us and said we did not know anything about cars. And we were right to be worried! First, they flushed the transmission when we asked them not to. Second, we replaced all of the brakes ourselves (total parts cost $275), and that is when we discovered that a) the rear brakes did not need changing, and b) they had sabotaged our rear brakes by putting several brakes pads in backwards! Finally, after a month our oil started leaking gradually, and then significantly. Turns out they had stripped the threads on the oil filler plug! We know for a fact that they had done this because before we started getting our oil change done at this Midas, we did it ourselves.

I scheduled my oil change for 11:30AM. I showed up at 11:30AM and was told it would be a few hours before they could get to my car. I called back 3 hours later and was told theyd call me when it was done. The person on the phone gave me attitude for calling. I showed up at 4pm to get my car and was told they were almost done with it. 45 minutes later they told me they were just putting oil in my car. Over 5 hours for a simple oil change. No explanation, just bad service.

The problem: (1) They did not give me a verbal or printed estimate (2) Took the liberty to diagnose my car without my knowledge (3) Did not give me a print out of the work they did on the car (4) Held my car hostage because their credit card machine was down.Today - 1/20/2019 - I stopped by this shop because my engine light was on. The guy who spoke to me was the manger of the shop; he said we can take a look at your car, however we cannot fix it today because our credit card machine is down. I said great; would you let me know how much it costs? He said sure, give me your key. (The entire time, he did not make eye contract). I patiently waited for 35 minutes, along with 3 other people who were there in the waiting area. After 35 minutes, I checked in with another tech who just happened to walk by the waiting area. He said just a minute and walked away. I then looked for the manager who had helped me before and he said about 20 more minutes before your car is done. I asked why is was taking so long. He said your car is hooked up to a machine. About 10 minutes later, he came back and said your car is done, its $108 + tax = $124.61. I was surprised by the cost and asked why I hadnt been told about the price and why didnt he give me the estimate. After 10 minutes of trying to have a conversation with the manager, who was clearly high as a kite, and who wouldnt even look me in the eye, I said okay, let me just pay and get it over with.After I gave the manager my credit card, he said Sir, I told you our credit card machine is down, we cant take your credit card. Youve got two options: you either get cash or leave your car here until the credit card machine comes back on.I was so upset! These people took the liberty to diagnose my car without my permission, and then held my car hostage because their credit card machine was down!I finally got my car back 2 hours later when the credit card machine finally came back up. DO NOT come here unless you want to get ripped off and spend all day at the shop, where all the techs are high and unprofessional.

Absolute worse service Ive ever experienced in my lifetime. I left my vehicle at this Midas for a diagnosis evaluation for over 4 hours and watched as they serviced walk-in before my car. I constantly asked the service desk if my vehicle would be serviced by the end of day. The service desk assured me that my vehicles diagnostic inspection would be completed but servicing the issue could take a bit longer. I informed the service desk that I would take my vehicle after they completed the evaluation and would return for services.I was finally fed up with waiting and requested the return of the keys to my vehicle approximately 10 minutes prior to the closure of the company. The clerk nervously explained to me that the mechanics hadnt had a chance to look at my vehicle and asked me if I would come back.If youd like same day service, this may not be the place for you.

Last year in April this Midas screwed up my air conditioning and took months to fix it. I would call severasl times only to be told lies about when my vehicle would be ready. When I finally got the car back two months later, my seatbelts werent working. I took it back and it took another month to fix. During this time, while the car was in their possession, I got a ticket in the mail and a full tank of gas had been used. I also noticed that my dashboard was not put back together correctly (missing and loose pieces under my seat). In addition, they took out my back window and scratched up the outside of the rear window. They gave me some spot paint to do it myself. Fast forward a year later. I take my car to a dealer for service and they inform me that whomever worked on my car last totally screwed up my electrical system resulting in 22 failed tests. My car was relatively new when I purchased it, with no problems at all until I took it to theses guys. I would not recommend them to anyone.- Kevin

Midas really struck gold when they found a manager like Alistair. He far exceeds the standards of excellence of regular Midas employees. He takes a personal interest in the service that comes out of his shop and makes his customers feel not only important but also safe and secure in the work being done. Alistair personally test drove my car after repairs were made. I felt very confident the repairs were made correctly. I want Midas to know that I will be bringing my car back to their shop as long as Alistair is there;. I do need more work done. But, if Alistair leaves the shop Im going to seriously have to think about following him.. Employees like him dont come around everyday.Thank you Alistair and Midas.

Took my 1987 560SL in for a brake job the beginning of May 2018. Midas found three major oil leaks on the engine. I know these old Mercedes are tricky to work on, but the shop manager, Shane, assured me that they could handle the job. Further, Shane assured me that the work would be complete in tow to three weeks. Seven weeks later, and much pleading to get my car back, Midas returned my car to me undriveable. Noxious fumes coming from the engine compartment, a blown transmission seal that was not reinstalled correctly, and a huge plume of smoke out of the back of my car all within 10 miles of driving forced to to take it to German Auto Group to get my car back to where it was prior to Midas putting it back together wrong. I spent over seven thousand dollars, at Midas, for the repairs, and refuse to let Midas touch it any further. They simply bit off more than they could chew.I have since disputed over four thousand dollars of the amount paid since it cost me more than that just to get my car back to where it was before I let Midas mess it up royally.I will never bring any of my cars back to Mr. Trumps Midas franchises. This company employs unreliable, uncaring, and dishonest people that have no interest in anything other than how much they can soak you for.Do yourself a favor...go somewhere else for your car repairs.

Ive been seeing a trend and I see why, many people say that the staff here always try to change parts that dont need to be changed. I went in to get a nail out of my tire, they were going to charge me $57. They went over to my car and then came back and said, you need a tire, your tire isnt worth fixing. Did I ask you to check if my tire was in proper conditions? Let me answer that, no I didnt, I politely asked you to take a nail out of my tire. I left the place very frustrated. I got it fixed the next day with someone else, $15 is what he charged me. Less than 10 minutes. I waited about 30 minutes here at Midas. The staff here should really listen to what the customers wants, not what you think they need.I also over heard another customer paying for his service and they charged him almost $50 more than what he expected to pay. Im really not impressed with this place. Never going back.

Made an appointment to have new tire, (I provided because they could not match). mounted/balanced to a rim I provided . I also brought in their coupon for free rotation of tires .1st I was told it would be $68, then I said thats not right.Then $35, I mentioned there website said $20 and only then they came down to $25 . $5 extra but was tired of arguing? After 2 1/2 hours of waiting they told me they would not do the tire rotation because the one lift that would work for my Van was occupied and they were not going to move it to honor their own coupon . They respect nothing! especially the truth !As I was there waiting, I saw like 10 unhappy customers and The Midas guys mislead and outright lie to 6 of them.Place made me want to take a shower as soon as I left . I will never take my car back. They tried to charge me 850.00 said i needed front and back brakes and rotars turned. I took my truck to marlboro pike found out i just needed brakes my rotars were fine. Paid 220 total. They are rip off artist. Im glad i got intuition my gut told me no. Never even needed rotars. I was charged $15 to check my parking brake issue so I could pass my inspection. I waited an hour and had to continuously ask the manager whats the status. They told my rotors and hardware set needed to be replaced and I needed a brake flush, which didnt make sense as the rotors passed inspection. I also waited another 15 minutes for them to write up the estimate and for them to check more stuff and I had to go to the mechanic directly because they were taking so long. I have a lincoln town car and it has airbags in the suspension system and he raised my car without turning off the air suspension which is a no-no. Hes telling me it will be on and explaining why the rotors are messing up the parking brake system. At this point I dont believe him based off him not knowing to turn off my air suspension and I tell him to wrap it up. I told another manager what happened and he said its only recommended and that if it broke they would take care of it. So the estimate comes up to $650. So Ill take it to another mechanic and they told me it was just that the rear parking brake cable was frozen. It had nothing to do with rotors, hardware kit or needing a brake fluid flush. I understand they got to make money, but thats an outright scam. Im glad I only spent $15 and I still will go back and talk to the highest manager and tell them and ask for my $15 back.

Avoid at all cost: they do the work incorrectly and try to charge you double.They improperly installed brake pads on our Volvo for $200, then attempted to charge us an additional $775 for service we didnt need.When we consulted our insurance and had our insurance rep speak with the owner, the owner hung up before returning the phone and said they would cover $300 and we would have to pay the difference. When I called the insurance company back, they said that Midas was overcharging us and they would fully cover the repairs for the right price.Will follow up with more as we get it sorted.

I often get worried about car repair places ripping me off bc I dont know much about cars. No such concern here. Got my personal muffler installed and a rattling noise had begun. Took it back to them and they told me the resonator was the issue. I took the vehicle to another mechanic and turns out the welding was done horribly and they cut corners and tested the pipe on one of my axels. I do not recommend work to get done there because of the price and quality of work.

We paid over $3,000 to have some electronic modules re-programmed in our Dodge van after it shut down. A week or two later, it shut down the same way again. The folks at Midas said it needed an additional $1,000+ of electrical work. They gave it back to us with dashboard lights activated, and ABS warning beeping, and said to drive it because they might just go away. Upon taking the van to the dealer, we found Midas had left an open circuit on the brake booster. The entire process took months, over which Midas declined to prioritize our work, failed to fix the issues, and dismissed our concerns.

Complaint DetailsI bought my 2005 BMW X5 on May 12, 2016, and got my first oil change on September 16th, 2016 at Midas(1620 Rhode Island avenue Washington, DC). Got the oil change done and drove the vehicle(in good condition at the time) approximately 800 miles through 6 months(oil change every 3,000 miles), but one day I started the car, drove about 2 miles and a sign comes on dash engine oil pressure stop engine and shuts off. So I get it towed to a mechanic (A&W auto shop) who tells me I need a new engine because there is no oil in engine which caused it to shut down. Immediately I think thats strange because I should have oil.So I go to Midas and tell them you guys performed an oil change on my vehicle and obviously didnt do it right, so yall owe me an engine because its broke. So manager( Shane T. griffin ) ask for my information and pulls up my last service and says we have on our side that you had an oil leak. I asked why no one told me when I got the oil change done, he says it was noted in our records so you wont see it. I say yall have to do something about it because it could have been prevented and he says well its a process. I say thats why Im here lets get the process started and he say let me contact my boss and well get in touch. He(manager) calls next day to tell me to have it towed there(Midas) so they can look at it. Which I did and theyre diagnostic was that they dont know what happened but it had nothing to do with them. Hands me an estimate for over $6,000 for a new engine and tell me I got a few days to decide if I wanna pay for the repair or I have to get it towed from theyre shop.Desired Outcome/SettlementDesired Settlement: RepairI would like my engine to be replaced by Midas (atleast a percentage) because they should have told me when I got my oil changed that I was leaking oil and engine damage could have been prevented. The car was in excellent condition before the oil change. I have no record of oil leakage from them but they knew which makes them guilty for not telling me. I JUST WANT MY CAR BACK!!!!

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The gentleman at the counter was unresponsive & gave very little interest in the issue at hand. Have had the SAME part replaced 6 times with the same reoccurring issue. The manager claimed that the past issues were not his fault since he just joined this location a few weeks ago. He was unhelpful & rude. Would recommend to take your vehicle to another location or another company. Absolutely absurd.

This place is horrible. They actually put too small tires on my work vehicle and charged me full price for their error. Also, they couldn’t complete the work order so they decided to send me to a place in Alexandria on tires that were waaayyy too small. I went some place else and the mechanic there told me those were the wrong tires for my vehicle and the list of other things they gave me were incorrect as well. Issue resolved with other company but not without me having to spend more money. I’ve reached out to them and haven’t gotten a response. Don’t spend or waste your time with these folks, the mechanics aren’t well trained.

...Clueless, uninformed, and potentially dangerous...-Took my 2015 golf GTI VW here for a routine oil change -Not only did they put the incorrect oil into my tank, but there were also small metal shavings left in the oil filter! Oil pressure light came on after about 10 miles of driving. Brought it to a better shop, and they were as baffled as I was.Any shop that cant do a simple oil change should reconsider their line of work - will not return, and do not recommend.

Second time coming in to this Midas location. I wasn’t expecting to spend $124.32 on a diagnosis test just to figure out the problem...which was what I thought it was... the sensor for my TPMS! They attempted to change me another $200+ for sensor replacement...RIDICULOUS! The man insisted that I would not be charged for additional labor when it was very much clear that I would already be paying $100 for labor anyway. The guy at the front was not hospitable or accommodating..definitely had a attitude and his demeanor was nasty. Definitely tried to overcharge me...when I called up to Costco the part was only $45! I didn’t experience this same treatment at my first visit to this location..but there was also a different staff that day...disappointed in the unbelievable amount I paid today..most likely WILL NOT BE BACK.

First off, this is the worst place ever to get a car fixed. I went there for smoke coming from my exhaust, and a oil change. They ended up telling me I need new tires, oil pan, and valve cover gasket. So of course I went to someone else just to be shown that they never cleaned anything under the hood to even see my oil pan or valve gasket in the first place. My tires were the only thing they were right about. My oil change was cheap but theres it !

So I email and set up a appointment for the $19.99 oil change & tire rotation, when booking my apartment I made sure to add $19.99 oil change & tire rotationSo the guy is writting my ticket up,we discuss the deal and all. Cool give him the keys and he takes the car in the bay, I walk across the Avenue to neighborhood market ( Im grew up in this area) come back and the car is down on the ground, mo way 5 minutes and hes done, he says no tire change on ticket I not do!! Cool, go in office naw its not on ticket, Cute lil young girl say Ill give you a free rotation coupon, she gold up my receipt and faked me out, so i guess Rhode island ave is wild so are all the stores on it too!!!!!DONT DO BUSINESS HERE

This place is terrible. I went in to have my oil changed and after leaving Midas my oil light went. Turns out the mechanic didnt refill the oil!!! Took another car to them to have the fluids topped off and the mechanic told me I was low on oil which was a lie because I had changed the oil and filter myself the day before. This place should be closed down.

UPDATE 2/21/17: I received a call from Shane, the new manager for the Rhode Island Avenue location and he has agreed to reimburse us for the full amount we paid. I applaud Midas for realizing they had an issue with prior management and took the necessary steps to fix the situation.This place should be avoided at all costs. Complete scam artists. They claimed to repair/replace the rear wheel hub assembly and bearings on my sons SUV (to the tune of approximately $1,000)and sent him on his way. Less than two weeks later, the wheel in question was shaking uncontrollably and was basically ready to fall off the car. This could have ended tragically for my son and anyone else who happened to be driving behind him We had to have the same repairs that these crooks claimed to have done completed by another mechanic. He showed us clear evidence that, not only did they not do the work they charged us for, but they also used shoddy junkyard parts to mask their deception. Dishonest, fraudulent merchants who refuse to admit their scam. STAY AWAY -- BUYER BEWARE!!

Dont come here unless you want to be taken advantage of. They should be ashamed of themselves. I went in for an oil change and somehow my car came out leaking bathtubs from the transmission line. It most certainly was not leaking like that when I brought it in, but Im sure they saw me and thought they could make a buck off of me. Now Ive got to make repairs with money I dont have.

The Service was great and the Store Manager, Alistair, is really profressional and has a genuien interest in providing great service to his customers. I had a great experience here, especially when I thought I needed new brakes and or tires. I didnt need either and could have been ripped off, but wasnt. Alistair has integrity, which is something hard to find on the automotive industry. He explained that al I needed was lock up my brakes to get the rust off of them and he could have charged me an arm and a leg for new brakes. I am a new life long customer as long as Alistair is running that place.
