Im new to running at age 54. A business associate who has ran 9 Marathons asked me if I had good running shoes. I liked my ASICS off Amazon, but when I thought good running shoes. I thought of Run N Tri in Wake Forest which Id never been in prior to my recent visit. Kaitlyn was very helpful, patient and shared options. I ended up getting a pair of Brooks DYAD 11. I plan to go back to RUN N TRI to get trail running shoes and will likely stick with Brooks. SIDE NOTE: I did my first ever 5K in our neighborhood on 12.13.2020. I got the Books on 12.29.20. Im not sure how much has to do with having real running shows. But for about the last week, Ive been relatively ache free. Also on 1.13.2021, I beat my 12.13 time by 9 minutes and 30 seconds. Ive done more running miles in the last 30 days than at any point of my life and Im 54 .

I had been wearing the same brand/style of running shoes for years and they just werent cutting it anymore. Lee very patiently helped me select the right shoe for my gait and shape of foot. You can run on the treadmill they have or run outside to test out shoes. Ive only had the shoes for two days, but so far theyre a big improvement. I appreciate the time Lee dedicated to helping me get the right pair and I also appreciate that I didnt feel any pressure to buy the shoes right then - even though I did decide to purchase them, he said, do you want to come back with your inserts and try them before you buy? Very thoughtful and courteous. Ive shopped here before, but this was my first shoe buying experience and it was successful.

Trail runners nirvana: You walk in this place to find staff grinning and high-fiving you. They know you even before you know them. They care about your running goals and upcoming races. They make purchasing shoes (or whatever) just part of an afternoon of hanging out at your best buddies house on their sofa watching some running doc. Its worth the drive from Raleigh... heck itd be worth it from further away! Its the Cheers Bar for runners.

So I decided to pop into Run N Tri for the first time today because I needed a pair of running shoes to start slowly rehabilitating myself from some old injuries. I havent run in years and know very little about running other than you put one foot in front of the other a whole bunch of times. I can assure you that after shopping at this store Ill never buy running gear from any other place again!When I walked through the door I was greeted immediately by the professional and congenial owner Brian, who took an quick interest in my reason for being there. He quickly isolated my needs, and fitted me to a couple different brands of shoes. After putting me on the treadmill for a quick jog he assessed my gait and he had me immediately in the proper pair of shoes. After having just finished a workout, in said shoes, Im writing this and I can say its the first time I havent experience knee and back pain while working out since I can remember.Brian is a wealth of knowledge and has an amazing demeanor to boot. The store may appear small but is very deep and has tons of quality merchandise to choose from, while maintaining that down home feel which unfortunately is waning in our society. This is a great store. The woman working there was very helpful. I came in looking for a specific brand of shoe and after some discussion and analysis of my run style she was able to help me into the type of shoe that I actually needed. They are very knowledgeable and have a good selection. The shoes I bought here ended up being the best running shoes Ive ever had and seem to have improved my pace and greatly helped the back pain I typically get when running.

I went in today to get some new walking shoes because I have plantar fasciitis. Lee was very friendly and helpful and I found a great pair of shoes. He also gave me some good advice on how to stretch to help recover. Definitely recommend this store!!

This place has it all! The best thing about this store is the staff and the store itself. Even if you are not shopping you can go hang out, relax on the couch and talk, watch some TV, or just hang out. They carry all the major brands and have everything for walkers and casual runners to ultra marathoners. Tons of nutritional options, hydration, apparel, recovery. It is not often you can walk into a store and find the owner behind the counter helping customers. Bryan is almost always there to help (when he isnt out running 100 milers).

Great wealth of knowledge and the friendliest store personnel I have ever met! They measured my feet to get me in the right shoe as well as contacting suppliers to make sure they made a shoe my size that would fit my needs. They got me into a pair of Altra Torins that I love! Cant wait to get my Altra Lone Peaks!

Staff is very knowledgeable and professional. You get the full service here, helps you in and out of all shoes, ties them for you, measures you, etc. Fairly large variety. A little pricy but thats the shoes, theyre quality brands.

I see on here that everybody has had a great experience. However, that was not the case for me. I went there to try on Hoka Bondi 6 shoe. Instead I received comments on my weight and doing self care. Bryan doesnt know me or my journey, I could have been 600lbs or have other health problems. He shouldnt assume I wasnt taking care of myself. Obviously, I am since I was there looking for a good shoe for work. I seem to think I have thick skin but for some reason his remarks really insulted me. True or not I wasnt there for weight loss advice, I was there for shoes. I will say he was knowledgeable about the shoes.
