We love this place, they have moved to 324 S 6th St, Waco. Not sure if current hours were correct.

We stopped in last weekend. Seems like a real nice shop. A variety of candy, some that I havent seen in a while. Ice cream waffle cones are really good. They were a little low on candy stock but we were still able to find us some delicious treats.

This is a fun little store used to be across the street from where I work in Austin Avenue in Waco but they’ve moved but it was always fun to go play in candy during my breaks

They were pretty wiped out, lots of empty bins, candy all over the floor, generally just kind of a mess. Of the candy we did buy, some of the bulk candy was stale and on one of the packages I bought, I found the price sticker was actually placed over the best by date, which was passed. They were open on Sunday afternoon, though, which was nice, and we did get some cool gummies for the kids. 6/10 probably would go back, but not all excitedly.

A time favorite candy store, I havent been in awhile but anytime I travel and find a candy store I always compare it to this place

Dont want to start anything but I was in there today after lunch with my mom and sister and was asked to leave a review.First, more than half of the options were just completely empty. Whatever things have been weird since the snow storm.Second, i get things are now fresh with the mask ban being lifted, but was told by a worker that people are not wearing masks in so the review before me is false. And thats a choice i get it. But youre workers are concerned that management does not care about their workers by not enforcing it.

My kiddos and I luv this place!!! The shop has a nice location downtown. When you walk in... it smells super yummy!!! They offer a variety of candy, soda pop, ice cream, and other treats. Staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, & an overall good atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by :)

Yummy retro and throwback candies of my childhood. Very colorful in display. Candyman music playing and Willy Wonka going on the TV screen. They also have a great selection of TY stuffed toys!

So everyone goes nuts when they travel to Waco to go see all that Chip and Jo have to offer. Well yeah! Totally! But there are some other really great places to see when you go. To the lady who owns Hey Sugar (Im assuming it is a lady) I just want you to know we are soul sisters! Must have been separated at birth. This funky, retro, very cool place has so much sweet stuff! Any kind of candy you can think of, boozie ice cream, fudge and made from scratch chocolate delectables... Im getting a tooth ache just thinking about it. The smell when you walk in, WOW! I picture rooms in heaven that smell like that!One thing I really wish they had is coffee flavored fudge. I had some one time somewhere, and now I cant find it again. We went in thinking surely this place would have it. So write that down sister, Ashley wants coffee fudge or chocolate coffee ice cream at her next visit😘Thank you for being an awesome place!When in Waco, go see them at Hey Sugar!Tell them Ashley sent ya!

I went to hey sugar, the cadny was awesome! Heres the thing, there was a lot of people in there and nobody but the employee was wearing a mask. Its a small store and i was really uncomfortable, either limit the customers or make people ought on masks or i wont be back thanks!

Wonderful selection of candy and soft drinks from new to the ones of days gone by. Yummy ice cream in surprising flavors-try the Jack and Coke or the Honey Bee flavors! The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about what they sell. Hey Sugar is a must see in Waco, Tx.

We made a pit stop here for some sweets and it did not disappoint! Tons of nostalgic candy here as well as newer kinds. Definitely recommend.

Very nice shop, a little short on sodas, but cant complain because the candy selection is nice.

The shop has an amazing variety of candy, soda, and ice cream. The shop smells amazing the minute you open the door. We got a bag full of various candies and two of the glass bottles sodas. I loved my Dang! brand Root Beer and wish Id picked up a case of them instead of just the one. It was an awesome experience and a must for any Waco visitor.

Youll feel like youre visiting a candy store from the 50s that has the best selection ever. They have all of your childhood favorites that you thought youd never see again. They also have ice cream with unique flavors and an entire room full of soft drinks. The soft drinks include brands you recognize and havent seen for awhile, as well as labels youve never heard of. Even some sugar free choices in soft drinks and chocolates.

This place is awesome! There is a large selection of candy and soda. Their ice cream is delicious. You will definitely feel like a kid again!

Super fun candy store! Staff was really friendly and the selection was really good. The treats varied from hard candies to decadent chocolate truffles and beautiful chocolate candies. It was really great and fun to have someplace to pick up a delicious gift, which they then boxed up for us with a ribbon. Definitely give them a try.

What a fantastic little candy store. Our surprise was that they have a full specialty ice cream bar AND a wonderful selection of sodas! Expect to spend at least 30 minutes to look around at the variety of delectable offerings to be had.

This seems a little fishy.. any time I’ve gone to Hey Sugar they’ve been extremely nice to me and my children. My co-workers go there very often and they offer free ice cream tothe children we work with. Sounds like ALL the story isn’t being told.. I don’t see them agreeing to something and not following through on it. I think we should get both sides before avoiding the establishment. Their pecan paws are AMAZING!!

Update: I love the fact that they still have mask signs up and are monitoring the number of people in the store. Good job at keeping your employees and customers as safe as possible!!We stopped in tonight and the two ladies that were working, were so helpful. They answered all of our questions and were patient with my kids. We had an amazing experience and will stop by again. The shop has LOTS to choose from and the prices are reasonable.

Cant get a better selection. Go here and youll feel like a kid in a candy store.

Fun candy shop!! Pricey but good!

Loved the store, it’s always fun coming in here and enjoying all the candy! But the customer service isn’t the best. My fiancé got a milkshake and the girl serving us acted like she didn’t care to be there and didn’t like that it was busy during the time. I understand since I have worked customer service but it made us feel a little uncomfortable and that we were inconveniencing her. The employees as a whole didn’t really seem like they wanted to be there and didn’t care to talk to us or anything as we checked out or when we asked questions. The store is great but the customer service lacks.

I bring my grandchildren here all the time. But tonight we were a little late getting there but it was 5:55 the doors were already locked. My grandchildren were disappointed for they all live out of town. Wish y’all would of closed at 6:00 like the door said but we well come again. Took them to Katie’s instead. The girl saw us would of been nice if she would of opened it up seeing these 6 little disappointed faces.

My family and I had a Great time here. It wasnt as expensive as I thought it would be either. All the employees were Friendly and Super Nice.....Especially a guy named Dalen (Sorry if I didnt spell your name right). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with a Sweet tooth.... its also a good place for a family. My kids are 13, 9, 4 and 1... they all had a good time there! We cant wait to go back!

Pretty groovy little store. They have cream soda in the back. Shakes, floats, and cones. You can also just get candy bye itself. Reasonable prices too.

Delicious assortment of treats! The little lady behind the counter was probably the SWEETEST thing in the store!!! She was helpful,and friendly. The store its self is very charming, with every candy imaginable. The television inside was showing the Wizzard of Oz, which perfectly goes with the Ambiance of the cute little shop! They have Ice Cream and Chocolates that are unbelievably delicious. They also have a massive selection of unique soda pops! If you are in the downtown area this is a must see!!!!

Great, fun candy shop! Lots of nostalgic candies as well as new. We go here to buy mostly sodas. Great selection of bottled sodas of all flavors. All the employees weve encountered have been super friendly and outgoing. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Waco.

My friend and I stopped in after dinner for something sweet and was blown away! Valerie and Nicolette were super nice and very knowledgeable of the entire store. Sucks that I’m just know finding this place but I’ll def be back!

This is a pretty cool place. I admit the novelty is beginning to wear off but thats because I live here. If youre just coming to visit, this place is a must. The kids will love that there is candy EVERYWHERE and the adults will be reminded of the candy shops they frequented as children. The vast choices of soda in the back will blow your mind also.

I stopped in here while visiting my best friend in Texas. My first visit to Texas and this was absolutely a great place to stop for treats for my family. The flavored pipcorns are awesome. Try the dill pickle you wont be disappointed. They even have a room full of sodas which would have been awesome if I wasnt flying home.

I liked the large selection of sodas in the back room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of weird candies to choose from. There were also some interesting ice cream flavors available as well. If you like the taste of boozy ice cream without the booze this place has great flavors.

Ice cream was good and had a large selection of candy most at $12 a pound. I was easily able to satisfy my sweet tooth.

This place has one of my favorite designs that I have ever seen! The candy selection is diverse and the Soda selection in the back is enormous! I have never seen so many different soda brands and flavors collected in one area ready to be purchased! A great place to visit if you are in town!

I had been a fan of this place since the day it opened. My youngest is a type one diabetic so we don’t go often but we have been fans. Today was my daughters birthday. She wanted to take her friends on a photo safari and check a few things of her summer bucket list. We decided we would start at Hey Sugar. I called the store last Monday and told the person who answered what we planned to do. I would let the girls buy drinks and candy and we would sit in the back room eat the candy and do a quick get to know you game. The worker asked me if I wanted to rent the entire store. I said no. Other people could be there and we would be there 45 minutes tops. She said no problem. I asked if she needed my name & phone number and she said no. So today my daughter, husband and her 10 friend show up at Hey Sugar. The girls were shopping and laughing and taking selfies. ( I was late because I had to run by and get tortillas for tortilla tossing later.) Basically the assistant manager who never gave us her name told my husband and the girls that they could buy things but they had to leave. They could not stay in the store because they would be too disruptive and it is their busiest time and they don’t let parties come in on Friday. My husband explained that I had called and made arrangements on Monday. He even called me and I talked to her. She just kept saying they can not be here. They can buy stuff but they have to leave immediately. I asked if they were busy and she said they would be. I said, so you are kicking my daughter and her friends out of the store? She said yes. That is what her manager Nicolette told her to do. By this time I was two blocks away. By the time I got there my husband had bought $50 of candy but decided to just go get drinks somewhere else. They girls were all standing out in the hot 98 degree sun. I walked in the store to ask for the managers phone number. The assistant manager who kicked us out had just left. There were 5 people in the store. Me and two employees and two women who bought ice cream and left after telling me how cute the girls were and how they could not believe how they ere treated. I took pictures to prove it how “busy” the store was. . The workers who were there were very nice but said they could not give the managers number out but they would call her and let me talk to her. The Manager . Nicolette said it is their new policy not to have parties on Fridays and my girls were going to be disruptive to the other customers (even though there weren’t many there) and by the time I talked to Nicolette there were none. She wanted to know who I talked to and asked me if I called the wrong Hey Sugar - there is only one in Waco) I told her I could screen shot the time I called but did not remember a name. Talking to Nicolette was beyond frustrating. I ended up just walking out. The whole time all the girls were standing outside in the heat instead of inside the empty air conditioned store where we had just bought candy. Bottom line, we were treated terribly and we did. I thing wrong. My daughter was embarrassed, I was embarrassed I am at an absolute loss as to what I did, or what the girls or my husband did to deserve this treatment. So buyer beware... The management at Hey Sugar “doesn’t care if you spend money in their store” but if you take more than two or three kids, expect to be asked to leave. A candy store that does not like kids... Wow. Just Wow. Hey sugar - not so sweet after all.

Hey Sugar was precious! I had my nieces with me 3-7-and 10. They were intrigued and excited about all of the choices. We tasted ice-cream that was a combination of Dr. Pepper and Pralines and Cream... Yummy! Definitely a must see in Waco.

I have been going here since they opened, but it will definitely be awhile before I go back, or recommend anyone visit. We went in about 15 minutes before they closed and were greeted with a hey welcome to he... as she began trailing off to turn and talk to her coworker. Just wasnt up front and rude, but definitely made me feel awkward for being there. Uncomfortably so.

This place is awesome! All kinds of candies. Sodas from all over the US and ice creams to make you feel like a kid and a grown all in one. Try the Jacked Up Coke ice cream, almondy joy, honey lavender.

This place is fun. Ice cream, candy and Sodas!!! The girl behind the counter was pleasant. The atmosphere is great and there is old music playing over the speakers. They also have a nice little outside sitting area to eat your ice cream.

They definitely brought me back to my childhood I found the original new York seltzer sodas like we had as kids and I found candy Ive havent seen in years great memories and service

Fun little place downtown. We enjoy visiting it for their unique ice cream flavors (lavender, honey whiskey, Dr Pepper, etc). Novelty candy and glass bottle soda sold here is a tad $$ compared to other places.

Great store!! Such a good selection. We found so many flavors that we loved. The licorice is great and the salt water taffy is delicious.

We came a long way from Fort Worth went especially out of our way to make it here within plenty of time of your closing time to find out your closed very disappointed especially my daughter who is pregnant and was having a total craving for your place we were at you location at 7:30 and the website indicated 8:00pm.

I went into the store yesterday and customer service was abysmal. The bathroom smelt like old cheddar, bleech, and whale dung. Wide variety of candy but I could not get the stench of the store out of my mouth. It also took me 10 minutes to find a bag to put the candy in. A little help would have been nice but the girls behind counter were too busy fighting with each other. I wish my experience was better because the store was very cute and could be fun. Don’t know if I’ll give it a second chance.

Been here several times since we moved to Waco a year ago love all the unique flavored sodas (makes great gifts) My favorite is their unique flavored ice creams love the Salty Dog and the Texas Honey Whiskey flavors! So many nostalgic candies!

Our visit as out of state customers was a big dissapontment in terms of customer service. We were the only customers on a slow business night due to bad weather. Neither the owner nor the associate working said hello or even looked at us when we entered the store. We made a purchase anyway. Great selection of retro candy but customer service is poor.

Best candy store in town!Never disappointed.

There are types of sweets; gummies, cotton candy, jelly beans, ice cream, taffy, and chocolates. Even had some old school candies that you cant find everywhere. Kinda disappointed because they had run out of chocolate bacon and I wanted to try it. Also sells mini Ty babies too.

What a selection! Almost everything on the shelves are fun blasts from the past.

BEWARE the ice cream. The store manager carelessly drops peanut products on top of the other ice creams. I pointed this out and that peanut allergies are serve. She responded with, so. I mentioned that people can die from less than half a peanut. Her response was, Ill just dig it out. I explained the whole thing was contaminated now. She stated, we are not just going throw a whole thing away. I was flabbergasted. I stated she was risking someones life. She then grabbed to container of ice cream and through it out, turned to me and asked if she could get me anything. At this point my only response could have been no because I dont know what else could be contaminated. The woman the turned around and said Im just gonna walk away and stormed off. The other girl informed me the woman was the manager and again asked me if I was going to get anything. I walk over here a few times a month for there dark chocolate or unique sodas, but this experience has left me very disappointed in this establishment.

We lived visiting this store, so many candies we hadnt seen for years! Lots of new and fun things. The staff were all so nice! Will definitely be visiting again when we travel through Waco.

Went into this store today, staff very nice, walked away with bag of gum balls and jelly beans for $44.00+ that didn’t fill a container. $12.99 a pound! Got me once, not again. Enjoy.

Nice little candy shop but i stood there for 10min while the young man helped the kids at the icecream and the young woman stood there looking at her phone. So i put down the bag of candy and wald out.

I really was a kid in a candy store. Too much candy so I settled for ice cream. It wasnt busy so she let me sample several flavors before settling on the Turtle Overboard on a waffle cone. Delish!

I love this old vintage kind of 50s style there so many different types of candy and hair so many different types of old drinks that atmosphere is just absolutely amazing.

We came in around noon on a Sunday for mine and my sons birthday. The woman who worked there was NOT welcoming and seemed annoyed anyone was even in the store. She offered no help and avoided all contact with us. We decide upon ice cream, my kids of course want marshmallows and sprinkles (who doesn’t?!) and I found myself apologizing to this woman because she seemed annoyed my kids would even ask for such things. My dad stood around for a good 5 minutes waiting to pay and this lady acted as if he didn’t exist. So we awkwardly sat and ate our ice cream in silence. It was a very uncomfortable experience. At this point, no one had said anything about this employees behavior but upon leaving that was the first thing we all said to each other “was she rude, or was that just us?”. No. She was DEFINITELY unwelcoming. The best part, it starts to get busy before we leave and an older gentleman walks in and asks the employee “what’s y’alls most popular thing?”...y’all, this woman didn’t even look up from stocking the gum balls to talk to him. Just muttered “idk, just depends what you like”. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F*** ?!?!?! Blown away. We don’t live in Waco (we are from Dallas) but we frequent a lot. Definitely would not recommend to anyone that wants to have a fun, nostalgic experience.
