When looking for someone to take care of your cars needs it gets tough, there’s lots of places to choose from. I usually don’t have high expectations when going to a new auto shop but when I entrusted my vehicle with these guys I was blown away with their customer service and their timely fixes to my vehicle. They really treat you like family and they’ve always been honest and fair to me. They definitely will see me in there again next time I have issues with one of my vehicles.

Time to update my review of Accurate Auto. I first met Gus and Gus (father and son) when they helped me in a pinch. I had to be somewhere, the Jeep was doing something strange, I was driving by their shop, and it was open on a Saturday. Been going to them for all my auto work since, and that first time was not an anomaly. They do quality routine maintenance at a fair price, and they always help me when Im in a pinch. I recently called from out of town, after hours, nail in the tire. Gus talked me through getting it back to the shop, and they had it fixed in the morning. Really appreciate this family owned business.

The only place I take my vehicles to. Great quality service and great people. Extremely knowledgeable about automotive needs. Gus is the best. Very reasonably priced and HONEST. If you need a new mechanic and someone you can trust. This is the place.

About a year ago, I messed up my engine really bad and I thought I would have to get rid of the car, I randomly found them on google, and it really was a blessing from God. I traveled all the way from Chicago and it was well worth my time and would do it again. I was able to I get my car back and it ran like brand new. Dropped my truck off on a Saturday and Gus called me on Monday with the diagnostics report. He pulled the transmission and had it rebuilt by Thursday afternoon at the price he quoted, with no surprises. He called me everyday with updates, very professional, I would highly recommend him and his crew.

I do not post reviews. However, I thought it right to do so here. It has been a year since my injector coils have been replaced. I just wanted to say thanks. The quote was half what other businesses were estimating for the work, the job was done quickly, and my car is running fine. There is a negative association between single women and auto shops taking advantage. This isn’t the case here. The work is honest and fair and much appreciated.

They rebuilt my transmission and there was an issue and it broke again and they took care of me above and beyond. They towed the truck a very long ways and rebuilt it again they also helped with rental car. They did more than expected and truck runs great now. Thanks guys!!

Now, I do not blame Guss or his son for my car going into the dump but, I would recommend they start paying attention to what their workers are doing. I took my car to Guss 3 months ago for my transmission and had paid 1,300 dollars just for my transmission to be rebuilt just so 2 months later it would break down on me again costing me another 700 for a rental. This time though picking up my SUV I noticed it smelled like gas and in my thoughts it had to of been something spilled and will eventually go away. The car died on me again and the stench of gas was over powering inside and out so I called Guss to where he was nice enough to offer to tow it in and look at it because I thought it was something to do with my Transmission. I was able to get my car to start and took it home. The next day my dad volunteered to get under my car and look at it himself. There was a gas leak and the undercarriage looked as if someone tried to wipe fuel off with a rag. I took the car back to Accurate Auto And Guss son volunteered and said if it is a quick patch job he would do it free of charge and that they would jump on it. I dropped the car off a little after 8am and didnt get it back till 3pm just to receive a phone call from Guss himself to explain to me that there was nothing he could do and that the damage was not due to him or his men. He said he knows for a fact the car was not leaking gas when he drove it so it had to of been something I did myself. Also the night I left it with Guss I was told I could come grab my SUV and the keys would be under the Mat. I live all the way in Gary and drove out there for my car just to find that the keys were in fact not in my car anywhere to be found but, my car was unlocked. I have spent a lot of money on my vehicle and I trusted Guss to help me when in reality I feel screwed. I took the car to car max to trade in for a better more reliable car just to be told my Transmission was still coding out, and that my car was worth 200.00 dollars! Yeah that was a real slap in the face. Thanks Accurate Auto!

My transmission went out and Gus got me in right away! He explained all of my options and replaced my transmission for a very reasonable price! Everyone that I dealt with was very professional and really kind! They have a life-long customer and I will refer all of my friends and family to Accurate Auto & Transmission!

Transmission went out on a Friday night. Called on Saturday and was able to get it towed to this shop. They looked at it and deemed we needed a whole new transmission. We live 350 miles away and left it at their shop for about 2 weeks before we could pick it up again. Cost was higher than expected-but that was fine, and as soon as we got in it and began to drive a burning oil smell began. We called and they said it was normal because of the oil used during the install-sure, ok. We made it 60 minutes to my parents house on a Friday, left it there till Sunday, and as we were driving back home Sunday afternoon we made it the same 60 minutes back to the Valparaiso area and the transmission blew again. We called and they said to let them know where to pick it up and they’d look at it Monday.Through the whole process they were very nice and willing to help us out regarding our poor timing and such, but I just wish it had been fixed the first time. For the amount of money we spent we shouldn’t have to leave it stranded 300 miles away again. Very inconvenient and very frustrating.Update: The second issue dealt with the all-wheel drive and wasn’t the transmission, though the transmission did cause it to deteriorate. They fixed it at no cost to us. About two weeks later we were going to pick it up and they called and told us the rear-wheel differential was also damaged and they replaced that free of charge as well. We were without a car for over a month but when we got it back it runs beautifully. Even though the events were frustrating, the employees were absolutely phenomenal.

I was referred to this place by a friend and was not disappointed. I was able to get an appointment very quickly and it was very reasonably priced. Best service Ive ever had from a mechanic. Gus was very informative, polite, and HONEST. He went out of his way to make sure my car had a great tune up and explained everything he did. I dont think Ill ever go anywhere else. I think this is a great place for women who may feel uncomfortable taking a car to a mechanic alone.

They did wonderful work on my Ford. I like that the people there are kind and honest. I am handicap and really needed my car fix. They quoted me a price and kept the price that was given to me. Gus is a great guy and he made sure he did his best with my Ford. I am 100% happy. He put my starter in and fixed all my brake lines...At very fair price. Please take your car or truck to them. I took my 95 S10 in to have a tune up as it had been running rough for a while. I normally used a mechanic just down the road, but decided to give Accurate a shot. I am glad I did. I called and Gus got me in the next morning. I asked him to look at other things I had concerns with, and had no problem with helping me out. After the tune up he told me that my fuel injectors were clogged. I did not feel that he was looking for things to fix, but was only recommending things that really needed to be fixed, unlike other shops. I felt that Gus valued his customers and treating them right above all else. (He even offered to help me with working on my own car.)Would highly recommend Accurate to anyone in need of a mechanic.

Accurate Auto is amazing. My car had a dead cylinder and they fixed it without bankrupting me- they also threw in some other minor repairs they spotted along the way. For free. Everyone I talked to was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. They explained what was wrong, instead of just listing parts and labor costs. They have my loyalty!

Im not sure how Gus get all these good reviews, maybe from friends and relatives because he is a man of talk! my story is I found a transmission on line I took all the information to Gus to make sure its a right one, well it wasnt I lost $700 then he charged me over $1900 to change it this wasnt so bad things happen but now I need other work to be done, I found at least 10 screws missing on every cover in the bottom and under hood, I work on my cars they were all there, Gus needs not to short cut the job! your getting paid!

Our transmission went out near Portage on a Sunday morning at 7AM. We called the emergency number listed for Accurate and Gus called us back within 15 minutes and within an hour he had a tow truck out to us and personally drove us and our trailer to a hotel.By Monday morning he had diagnosed the problem and had two workable options for us, and by 5pm we were on the road again!Trustworthy and experienced help when we needed it most!

Gus my man always looking out for me. Making sure my old van is running as best as possible. The van has over 200K miles on it and I know bringing it here it will last another 200K. Had a radiator blow out and the team here went above and beyond to get me on the road same day. I highly recommend coming here seriouly. Very expensive. Old parts were never returned. Car had greased hand prints inside and out. The shifter column was not reinstalled properly. Had to have other collision repair shop place shifter properly.

I was in from out of town and Gus was nice enough to stay late to check out a vehicle for me. You could tell the passion they have for cars right away. The genuine kindness and true willingness to help showed through. Thanks, I wish I lived closer so he could keep my cars running.

Couldnt be more happier with the service i got here. I called around to several different places and all of them were more expensive and had a long wait list to get my vehicle in. With the hours that I work its hard to get things scheduled and taken care of, but Gus was very helpful in getting my car fixed so it would pass emissions he even took it to emissions and got it passed for me so I didnt have to. He even bought my old broken down vehicle too... I know thats not a service they usually offer but I did get more for it than I probably would have if I just scrapped it out. I will be back for any other repairs I might need. Also had great friendly service!

I had a fantastic experience with Gus and the rest of the guys at Accurate Auto & Transmissions.I was certain I had a transmission problem in my car. I took it into them because of a friends recommendation.Gus immediately asked me the year and mileage on my vehicle. Somehow, he knew that my vehiclesparticular year had recently had a recall due to a problem with the engine control module (ECM).Gus offered to take the car over to the dealer himself. He was right: the ECM did need replaced, and I was under this new extended 10 year warranty.They picked it up, tested it again themselves, and then turned it back over to me for no charge. No charge at all!The amount of money & hassle these guys saved me is astonishing. Ive never seen service like that anywhere.I cant recommend them enough.THANK YOU!

Good is always good service not so much

Gus was great to work with. I showed up Monday morning with a broken down car. I was in the middle of moving acrossed country. Even though they had a full garage, Gus pulled two guys onto my car and had me back up by the end of the day. I believe the price was fair and Im thankful for shops like this and guys like Gus!

While I only dealt with these guys on the phone, I have to agree with my wife when she says she doesnt remember ever dealing with a nice group. My wifes car runs like a charm at 30% of what the dealership eas going to charge us.

No communication they never called me I had to call them. They said they would look at it first thing in the morning but didnt have anything until my last call when they closed. I was never told a price before work began only when my car was ready to be picked up. I didnt even know they did any work just ran tests. When I was told a price they changed it 5 min later. Will never go they again.Took my car in on Saturday near closing and was told they cant look at it till Monday afternoon. Informed them Im going to miss work Sunday and Monday and Tuesday I have to go out of town for two weeks for work. They said they would push me to the top of the list on Monday and call me. Ok thats fine.Monday afternoon and not hearing from them all day I called. We reprogrammed your ecm and are running tests now, well call closer to five when we close to let you know what we find. Ok. At five still havent heard from them so I call We got it drivable but it still needs work on the ecm board. You can pick it up now. Can you get here in the next 15 min. Itll be $135. I let them know I cant make it in that time frame. We do a pay by phone now its $250. Ok whatever I just need to get to work. I pick up my car and it doesnt even make it home.I know they said they didnt fix the underlining issue but I didnt even get an hour of use out of it. And the cost without a word. Very untrustworthy in my book.

Wow. My sons suv broke down out in Valpo, 40 minutes from home. We contacted Accurate for a tow and a diagnosis. It was the transmission. Gus was patient with me while I called him multiple times anguishing over the repair. After the repair on the way home the temperature gauge went to hot. Gus sent a tow back to our house and towed it back to Valpo for free to make it right. The suv is back in business and we couldnt be happier with the excellent service he and his team provided.

In June 2015 I brought in my Volvo s40 T5 to get my clutch, flywheel, and throw-out bearings replaced. It was about a $2600 expense. Immediately after I had broken in the new clutch that they put in, my car wouldnt go into 2nd, and I thought that was strange. Just about a month or two ago, my engine blew up which had nothing to do with what accurate fixed, BUT the people I sold it to at a different shop rebuilt the engine and found that Accurate had put in the WRONG CLUTCH. The whole reason I got all of that replaced in the first place was because the previous owner had put in the wrong clutch. That was the reason it wouldnt go into 2nd anymore. So if you are looking to get work done at Accurate Auto and Transmission, DONT because they obviously have no idea what they are doing, and they are anything but accurate. Let me also mention that the word transmission is in their name, and they couldnt even do that right.I never ever write reviews on the internet about things, but I figured Id save some people who are even considering getting work done here.

If I could give Accurate Transmission 10 stars, I would!It was time to update my car registration & I was told by the BMV that I needed a passing emissions certificate (porter county) before they could give me my 2010 sticker. Sadly I failed my checkup because the levels were okay, but my car wasnt functional because the check engine light was on as were two codes!I immediately went online and it said the nearest place for me to go for Computer Diagnostics was Accurate automotive.The young guy at the counter greeted me & was very friendly and chatty as the owner himself did the diagnostic test. I asked if he could please clear the codes and turn off the check engine light so I could pass the test. Gus took my car for a test drive to check out the transmission & when he determined nothing was wrong, he went ahead and cleared the codes for me.During the test drive, Gus told me that he and his family have been in the business for over 30 years, that he goes to seminars regularly to stay up-to-date on the latest in automotives & auto repair, and mentioned to me all about the materials used in catalytic converters, etc. That guy knows his stuff!!! He also mentioned my oil needed to be changed so I gave him the go ahead, he changed my oil and winterized my vehicle for me!!I was ready and willing to pay him, I was so thrilled that hed taken care of everything so quicky & efficiently!He also told me to come back if there was ever a problem.I was shocked to find out this gem of an auto repair shop isnt on yelp or more reviews on google and so here I am, sharing the wealth. If and when I ever have a transmission problem with mine or my wifes car Ill be running back to Gus!It is SO refreshing to meet good, honsst, skilled and knowledgable mechanics, Ive found mine and will never even think about going anywhere else.Oh, and immediately afterwards, I got my free re-test & passed!!! I finally got my emissions certificate!Thanks Accurate!
