Great rest stop for road trips. We didn’t eat that the smoke house but it smelt amazing. The gas station as a lot of options. The restrooms are always super clean and smell really good. The gas isn’t ridiculously high either.

The food is delicious. I dont like BBQ, but they do things the right way and it makes my mouth water thinking about it. Next best thing to having a true cowboy cook for you on his ranch... This really is Texas best smokehouse. You wont find better in my opinion.Come for the hot sauces, the flaming pepper jerky that will melt your jaw off, and the gifts!!! They have fudge and home made baked goods that are tasty.Good parking for truckers. Worth stopping for!!

Love this place, great tasting BBQ & my favorite, the Texas cow patty. This is a nice place to stop for lunch if on the road. The Texas cow patty is like a frito pie with beans, cheese, sour cream, jalapeño sausage & shredded beef, soo good! The cakes are delicious as well, got to try one!

Im a truck driver and been stopping here for years. Sadly to say the service was horrific. The young light skinned lady was rude as ever. The young man that cut my meat absolutely didnt know how to cut my ribs properly. If I wanted chopped pork I wouldve ordered it. Terrible experience please do better. This isnt worth $24

Loved it! Customer service was sky high with politeness and professionalism! They have everything and anything! A collectors paradise! So many unique items to buy! Food is plenty! So you wont be disappointed! So much to choose from... Bbq, sandwiches, cakes etc... Entire facility is clean top to bottom!

I love this gas station. Smokehouse and everything else everything else about this place. There is also a Sonic inside. All of the artwork hanging in the walls is for sale.

I decided to give them a second chance since the lady in the first time had an attitude. The barbecue wasn’t bad but dry. And when you ask then for some barbecue sauce it seems like you asked him for the first born child. There’s two company man sitting behind the counter at the bbq place. Is what the gentleman said walking out in front of me. Who ordered just before I did. Bad attitude again.

Double barrel brisket baked potato! Its gigantic and can easily feed two people and fill them up! I cant finish a whole one of I tried. Their smoked turkey is bomb. Breakfast tacos are good too!

Its been awhile since Ive had some very good BBQ. The portions were so much and the guys dishing it out were so friendly. Its was outstanding This place also has numerous of sweets. Cookies that are larger than your hands Every kind cake known to man Fried pies Fudge of a variety of flavors. Its all just wonderful. Added to my favorite places. Oreo cake was the BOMB and Double Chocolate chip cookie ....Me and my bf split half an half!!! 🤭🍪 👏 😊❤😋

Mannnn. This place was amazing. Got the pulled pork and turkey with potato salad and banana pudding and watermelon sweet tea. This was my fuel stop and didn’t even know they had BBQ until I pulled in. So glad I stopped. Will definitely be back. The banana pudding is probably the best I’ve had from anywhere ever. And they even have drink dispensers filled with BBQ sauce, like what?? lol.

When I stepped into Texas Best Roadhouse, I was a tired, haggard mom. I was not a pretty picture. Having driven the second day of a two day journey, I was finished. We were four hours from home and I had taken a nap in the back seat. Well, as much as one can ask when your child stirs you from slumber with vital bits of information such as, CAUTION!! This truck carrys a wide load! 😳 We left vacation a day early to try to outrun the tropical storm. The route we took would take us 13 hours and 51 minutes according to Google maps. Google maps has no button that allows you to adjust your time for pee breaks on the hour.I felt the car stop and my husband announced we were getting gas. I needed to use the restroom. I took my youngest and was prepared to do the get-in, get-out routine in record time. And I walked in to your establishment.Oh. My. God.Yes. Lovely. I wondered if I had died in the car this is what heaven was like. It was freaking fantastic.The food smelled amazing. We marveled at everything on our way to the bathroom and then looked some more. The dessert case was just fun. Everything just looked perfect to eat and it felt so nice just to stand there and take it all in.Then we decided to get something to eat. Lois helped us. I described the source of my weary condition to you just so you would know what Lois seemed to know in one glance. She knew I was tired. And I was facing a mom moment of feeding my kids. Lois was amazing. She was SO patient with my oldest. She was exuberant and funny. She went out of her way to make that kid a meal he would eat. I loved her in that moment. The gentleman that cut the meat was class as well. He was funny and did a superb job with our cuts. The food was delicious but the staff made it really nice. They all did. It felt like going to your Aunties to eat. I wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at Texas Best Smokehouse. I was a mess when I walked in and left feeling amazing.We got home a few hours ago. I cleaned up and was eating a fried pie we brought home. I actually ate two. I googled you and realized that you are an unfortunate four hours away. Just like a real relative, I will probably only get to visit you every couple of years. I just want you to know- I have fond memories. 🥰

****UPDATE ****Stopped here again and was excited to see that nothing has changed! Food is decent. Atmosphere is good and clean. Except the mens stall walls and doors looks like they havent been deep cleaned in years.Staff at the smokehouse seemed in very bad moods and that made the stop unpleasant. Staff at the gas station side of things were very pleasant and courteous.

At I-20 and Hwy 271Our experience started with very rude staff!! Ordered a turkey sandwich that had plenty of meat and lots of flavor.. very good!Also ordered a sliced brisket plate and got 3 skinny slices of brisket, but the meat was very good, moist, and tender. Got pinto beans, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes for sides. Pinto beans were pepper hot but no flavor. Mac & cheese was watery, and mashed potatoes were just so-so compared to other other restaurant CHAINS. BBQ sauces (regular and spicy) but hadnt been simmered to get a caramelization of the flavors.Though the meats were very good and the turkey was a very nice portion,...we paid too much for the other items and rude service. We wont be coming here again!! We will go on into Tyler to Rudys BBQ

Best ever me and my wife eat often and we tell any looking for good food and wonderful people they need to eat with you all never stop and never give up you are the best there is.

I really did not appreciate it when I ordered the rib sandwich and had two big pieces of bone in my sandwich. I could have bitten into that and really done some damage to my teeth, but fortunately I had a thought that the worker would do that, so I checked my sandwich before I bit into it. The manager needs to train the ladies that serve the food to not serve meat with bones inside a sandwich.

By far the best rainbow cake. You can actually taste the flavors, not just food coloring, and the frosting was delicious. Great food and nice people!

I am not impressed. I had a 5 rib dinner one of the ribs had a good bark on it and was meaty, one was ok and the other three were just hunks of fat and shouldn’t have been given to a paying customer. Disappointing, especially for $18. The sides were good. The store looks neat and clean as does the restaurant.

The BBQ BRISKET was to die for. Very moist, perfect seasoning & the sandwich was huge. Staff was very friendly. The place was clean. I will eat here again.

Ive been on the bus for 14 hours and I cant sit down and wait for my cab with my luggage that has all my medication. Im visually handicapped I mean its very obvious! Ive been coming here for years and always recommend this place for good brisket, until this visit. The prices have always been on the high side but thats ok for good BBQ and its to be expected, but the portions have become a joke for the money you pay. I noticed it the last time I was here. I hoped it might have just been a new worker or something simple but this time it was the same. I will not be back and Ill start recommending people to Bodacious or Soul Mans.The guys working arent very friendly either if youre a white person

My boyfriend went to get some food here and he asked one of the workers to please change his gloves. The server wiped the counter with the towel and went to make his food with the same dirty gloves. The guy argued and talked smack while changing his gloves and when the manager Laura was told she basically sided with the worker with the dirty gloves! Don’t eat there. It’s disgusting and they are rude!!!!!! The guy continued to argue saying the towel was clean so it didn’t matter if he changed his gloves or not!!! The service is HORRIFICThey absolutely need NEW MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!!

Got a plate of 6 beef ribs with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes and a piece of cornbread with a drink. Cost 22 bucks but you know if youre getting ribs, thats not bad at all. These ribs were fall off the bone tender, juicy and tasty. Fast and friendly service, clean place with huge menu and plenty of sauce and napkins for you to enjoy your bbq however you like it. If youre wondering, full slab of ribs is 30, baby backs are 24. Will definitely be back and certainly recommend it.

Use to be the one stop you HAD to stop at for this out of the world delicious BBQ. My favorite was their turkey. The last two times I have came the turkey wasn’t white at all and was dry. Not normal for this establishment. Food was bland had no taste to it. It has to be under new management because for YEARS this establishment was high on every truckers list but not anymore. Seems as if their pride is gone. Texas Best use to be one of the best, top tier BBQ restaurants now, it’s gone down to if you want BBQ or Sonic and that’s a legitimate question.

Everything was so good, got to taste test before you buy. If your close by you should definitely give em a try! The ribs and brisket were amazing! Staff is friendly, refreshing these days to find good food and excellent service. We will be back if were in town again.

A good place for a truck driver to stop and be away from the mega carriers at the big brand truckstops. The food is pretty good, I had the pulled pork and brisket, but I cant lie, the collard greens were the best part of my meal. Plus, there is a drivers lounge we the TVs and plenty of touristy stuff to spend your money on, if you so desire.

Bathrooms were ok, place was crouded, but the food was excellent so I would rate it good. Would recommend. I would like to point out that their 5-star review board incourages users to leave positive reviews online, so take the 5-star reviews with a pinch of salt.

Pass by here all the time but finally decided to give it a try. I got the 2 meat entrée, sausage and pulled pork. It was ok, but something was missing with the taste. From the reviews I see its not the same like old times, so maybe im a few years late. Ill give it a try again one day to confirm if im a fan or not. Also, its 100 degrees outside. I recommend you do something to keep the employees cooler inside, because they were sweating a storm and I wouldnt want that in my food.

Lets see, what have I bought here? Sonic, jerky (a little tough but very good) candles, soap, hot sauce, wine, cookies and some AMAZING pickled cabbage and onions they call hot chow chow.

The smoke house was great! The store is pretty cool, little tourist stop of course. Toys for the kids, looks like handmade clothes and local made jams and such. Wandered into a little section of spices and such, everything I picked up was expired. As in February and September of 2017. Brought it to the clerks attention, he looked at me like I was nuts. It wasnt dusty, so they had been cleaned and moved. I had to leave after that though. Anyways, the food is good.

If toss or slide your credit card on the counter at the hot food checkout the meat carver will embarrass and correct you in front of everyone loudly and ask you to pick it up and hand it to the cashier.

Keep a close eye on the barbeque guys that fix your plate because they wont change gloves after handling money .

Ghost pepper jerky seemed like a fine idea at the time. The initial fire was good and then it got really hot... I’m talking snot bubbles and gasping hot. Needed plenty of frosty amber ales to cool the flames. The second helping was slightly milder or perhaps me taste buds were partially dead. By the fourth helping I was all in, glorious jerky, really good stuff. Oh, an it apparently killed a tapeworm I’d been carrying too.

I truly enjoyed my stop here. Good, friendly service with a great value. Beef, chicken, sausage and pork is cooke well and just falls apart at the touch. You can get sandwiches or combo plates with 1 and 2 meat deals. Good variety of veggies for sides as well as either a roll or cornbread.

I had some brisket with my bread. Pretty stingy when it comes to the meat. Only 3 slices of brisket on my sandwich. What a rip-off. They actually weigh the meat before they put it on your sandwich. So its not the guy behind the counter. Hes just following orders. Its the ownership. Cheap, cheap, cheap! Do yourself a favor, skip this place and go to exit 540. Soulmans BBQ will load your sandwich with meat and will charge you the same price.

BBQ was excellent BUT the bald man in charge clearly did not like white people. We watched him be very friendly & give extra service to people of his same color. He would not even look us in the eye. Only mumbling. We had to repeat ourselves several times. What a disgrace to have him over minimum wage workers.

Only 3 working pumps in the diesel isle. 2 have been out for over a month.....

The brisket was very very bland. The only thing that gave it flavor was the bbq sauce....which had the consistency of nearly water. The spicy sauce wasnt watery though and tasted great. They need to take a peak into Cottonbelt bbqs seasoning/smoker method at Dukes travel plaza in Canton, TX.....absolutely the best tasting brisket ive ever had. Overall, this is a great store, very clean with friendly customer service. Ill stop again.....and even give the brisket another chance.

Been coming in and buying food when I fill up the truck and have always left my fuel card at the counter but today they wanted me to pre pay. Its hard to guess how much you need when youre filling up two 130 tanks. The Cefco across the street got my$400 in diesel and the$15 worth of food I needed

I really wanted to give this a better rating, but based on my experience, this is the highest that I can rate it. We stopped by for breakfast. My son said his burrito was okay, smaller than advertised, but still good. My husbands biscuit sandwich was average to good he said. I got a plain biscuit with just butter-jelly on the side. However, the butter was poured from a squeeze bottle container which I thought was odd. I almost decided to skip the butter, but in the end I did not and needless to say, about 15 minutes after I ate my biscuit, my stomach started to cramp really bad and continued that way for the next 10 hours (that was the only thing I ate all day). Several runs to the bathroom later and I was feeling better. A friend of mine told me it was probably butter that was used on the grill to cook toast, etc. Not meant to spread on a biscuit. Based on other reviews it sounds like the BBQ is really good, but I just cant bring myself to give it one more try.

If your from the south. This is a bad place . Greens to spicy like over spicy . Pricey for what you get. Small portions equals not going back. Turkey was cold not what we expected . Three potatoes . . If ya want Tv dinner.People are nice but not worth the price .

Ive eaten a lot of brisket fixed by Texans commercially and privately. This is not in that category. The meat was moist but tasteless. Good brisket has flavor and doesnt need sauce. The green beans and potatoes were bland as well. At least salt, pepper and pickles were available.

Closed till Tues at the soonest, Due to weather and keeps losing power. Even though its a truck stop they close the store so no bathrooms for truckers shut down for the storm. Have to cross the snowy ice covered 4 lane road over to Cefco just to use the bathroom. Theyre out of power too but they arent locking everyone out.

Really really really good Brisket and veggies. Italian cream cake and chocolate cake we split was wonderful too. Prices not bad either. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this place. Trucker friendly too 👍

Terribly SLOW! service at counter for to go brisket!!! Worker entertained customer in front of me! I am traveling and stopped in for brisket. Wanted to quickly get in and out. That did not happen. Not Nice!

Food was fresh and amazing! And the employees made it even more special! The women serving me even asked how my food was after me and my brother had the meal! Overall and amazing experience of southern hospitality 🙂! Employees definitely need a big raise !

Been coming to this place for years can not believe this place would leave trucks stranded in there parking lot because you wanna close due to the weather hell were out here in it & we don’t live up the street or around the corner. Totally in disbelief

We stopped here Saturday 12/5 at 11:30 to enjoy some barbecue. We stopped here on our way across Texas to my next assignment. I entered the place wearing a mask, noticed a sign on the door that said masks were required but the man who attempted to hold the door and his companion weren’t wearing masks. No one on your staff or at the place in general instructed them to put one on. I walked over to the counter to order and saw your employee, a woman was leaned over the steam table scooping food into a to-go container TALKING LOUDLY TO A CUSTOMER WITH HER MASK PULLED DOWN BELOW HER CHIN. She was projecting her voice so she was pushing her breath onto the food in the case. The other woman behind the counter whose eyelashes were long enough to use as a fork ALSO HAD HER MASK PULLED HOWN BELOW HER CHIN and when she saw my horrified look quickly pulled her mask up with her bare hand, then pulled it down again, scratched her nose with her bare hand snd pulled the mask up again. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I am an ICU COVID-19 Registered Nurse and I’ve been taking care of COVID-19 patients since February. WHAT IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA IS HAPPENING BECAUSE OF STUPIDITY LIKE THIS. I am APPALLED that an establishment serving food would allow their employees to put their customers and their community at risk. Shame on you. As a mandated reporter I am obligated to report hazardous conditions to the proper authorities. I have notified your county health department and the Texas state infectious disease control.

Seems the cost to update a billboard or two would be a small price to pay over having disgruntled truck drivers spread your false advertising by word of mouth ALL OVER the country.Especially after having to wait in line to actually fuel behind all the other drivers who obviously make this a regular stop, homesteading on your fuel island with the fuel nozzles stuck in their tanks making it all look good while they go inside to pickup their lunch or dinner, all the while nary pumping so much as a drop of fuel.Lucky for me, I can make choices on where to stop. There’s a Cefco right across the street with more parking, showers, and they probably won’t be feeling put out when I try to get my free coffee refill with fuel.Don’t worry. I left your coffee. I didn’t want to put you out, y’all likely need it worse than me and there is always someplace else down the road....with better food to boot!I guess in the future, I’ll take the advice of that Texan from Galloway, Gentleman Jim Reeves and just walk on by....don’t expect I’ll be waiting on the corner however.

Nice place to stop. Food was delicious! Havent had a fried pie in a year. Tried to eat one tonight but it had strongly absorbed whatever is used to smoke the meat. It really made the pie unpleasant. Unfortunately I had to throw away all 6 pies. I wanted my family in the Midwest to taste fried pie for the first time but not smoked fried pie! And i certainly wasnt gonna eat anymore of it! Pecan fried pie and gunpowder taste, not a good combo. You Cant smell it in the pie but you sure can strongly taste it! 🤢 definitely wouldnt have foods that absorb so easily (bread for example) in the same building as a smokehouse unless you want to taste it in everything.

Place was clean, food looked ok, but had no flavor, my husband ordered the tacos, it had more cheese than meat, what I thought were greens tasted like spinach no seasonings at all and looked like shredded chicken was used for meat, squash was just boiled in water. Maybe well eat Sonics if we stop in the area again

We were traveling through Texas and stopped at this Texas Best Smokehouse. This place is absolutely lovely. The staff was very nice and the food was incredible. They have so many sandwiches, desserts and snacks to choose from. You will get overwhelmed and want to buy and try everything. I cant wait to come back.

Stopped in for my 10 hr break. Bathrooms are neat and clean, store is well stocked. Had beef brisket at the Texas Best Smokehouse with corn and cucumber tomato salad. Excellent! Parking for about 75 big trucks and a CAT scale.

The food is good and price is great. Im a truck driver and been stopping there for 5 years. The only problem is their brisket. Its really good but always gives me the most horrible rotten meat smelling farts, and they last 12-16 hours. It doesnt bother me because everyone likes their own brand but goodness, the poor people around me that day suffer.Great food, big farts

Local only vibe to this place. Person in front of me got more then he could eat. They gave me portions like I was on a diet or something then the person behind me practically cursed them out to get a good portion of food. And this done happen to me 3 different times. I will pay for the food I eat but every time I go into this place everyone get different portions. Three strikes you’re out too many barbecue restaurants to continually be treated like this. False advertising. I smelled hbq n smoke from smoker ordered beef brisket ..zero smoke flavor. I mean zero. Tasted n textured like it was steamed in water ..zero smoke ring zero smoke flavor zero seasonings ..sad

If youre ever in the area make sure you give them try. If youre not hungry and just passing through pick something up for later and you wont be disappointed. They have some of the best BBQ that youll find anywhere in the country. I eat here several times a month whenever Im in town for my doctors appointment. Their brisket is always moist and lean. It could have much more seasoning, but not everyone can have food with a lot of seasoning so I understand. Maybe in the future they can develop a spicy or mild menu. Out of the hundreds or possibly thousands of meals that Ive eaten here Ive only had two bad meals which they gladly made right. Dont forget about the rest of the store. They have some great cheesecake, homemade jellies, jerky, etc. The prices are a little high but you get what you pay for and the quality is excellent. They used to sell many types of jerky that were all great but now they only have their own brand which isnt as good. Also have fudge, cookies, and other products. If youre not sure about something they will gladly give you a free sample before you make the purchase so that you know youre going to enjoy every bite. They also have crafts and some cool stuff for your children, so once again if youre in the area make sure you visit the store and check out everything in it. You wont be disappointed. Go in for some of the best BBQ in the country, but have some fun while looking at their crafts, and playing with their toys. But always remember to save room for their cheesecake, fudge, cookies, or even one of the ice cream products from the Sonic that is also in the store.

Excellent BBQ, brisket melted in my mouth. Love the fresh side dishes as well. Inside decor is very inviting. I really dig the old western everything.

I went 50miles out of the way to get some Brisket and they had no brisket I stop every time I come through. Not sure what happened at pump 3 but it shutoff after 60 gals had the pump turned back on finished fueling the first transaction went through but it had card number was right but the company name was wrong the truck number was right and any other information to turn the pump on was correct not sure what happened had to call company to see if they had any problems on there end the first 60 gals showed up ok but was unable to get the second transaction to go through had have it paid over the phone by CC they dont usually do that but made an exception this time Im an owner operater glad my company have my back on this the manager was helpful he even went out to look at the pump to see if it had been tampered with and was going to look into it.

First time ever stopping at this place I seen smoke so went in to try it mash potatoes 👌🏾 Macaroni and cheese👌🏾 The brisket was great just to much fat but overall I enjoyed it.
