I’m of 2 minds about PCC. There’s really good and really bad sides. The good:-Extensive wine selection-Great local cheeses-AMAZING peanut butter cookies-Interesting natural wellness section-Great prepared food; the veg sandwiches are flipping fantastic for a quick meal-The employees are nice and helpful! Never had an issue with customer service :)-Literally the only grocery store in FremontThe bad:-I can’t bring myself to buy any produce here; it’s SO expensive-Same with bread, milk etc.-Spotty selection of dry food staples and ethnic foods.-The board has historically been messed up; Google it.-Lots of persnickety shoppers; as one reviewer alluded to race impacting their store experience which I don’t diubt, I’d also say there’s a class differential. I can shop here only because I work in tech; my working class family couldn’t do the same. The first time I shopped here I sent my family a pic of my grocery receipt and started a firestorm in our group chat.Overall, an experience that will feel very comfortable for the bourgeoisie. Check out Mississippi market or Seward Co-op in Minneapolis for an example of what a co op should be. Actually affordable staple options I could afford when I was paid $14 an hour, wider selection of things people eat and less virtue signaling (“shop your values”? 🥴) without the action to back it up.I’d like to preemptively say I will not be emailing anyone or contacting customer service. This is my genuine opinion of PCC after 1 year of living in the area with this as my only accessible grocery store, and I’d like to take the time to express it on this platform known as Google Maps.

It’s very rare that I get excited about a grocery store’s prepared food. However, I really love the food at PCC. Also, they’re very good about letting folks use their restrooms, which is very important to me as I walk here from Belltown and usually need to stop before doing my shopping (I’ve never been questioned, which I cannot say about many other grocers). The staff here is also always friendly and helpful. My only request for management is to please carry unrefrigerated single use water. I know; I know…bottled water is evil, but for those of us walking, we are doing our best to reduce carbon footprint. For those of us having swallowing issues, cold water is an issue and warm water is actually better for everyone anyway :-).

Its PCC, a grocery store. Comfortable if youre White, uncomfortable if youre BIPOC.....Edit: Hey PCC, I am not going to email you because its not my job as a BIPOC person to do the work for you. Its a systemic issue and I still gave yall a fair rating. Are you going to stop other customers from giving the look? Probably not, I just need my kinfolk to be aware.

Good little local spot with organic produce, a good salad bar, prepared food options. They’ll have basically whatever you need. You can definitely get many items cheaper elsewhere, but I don’t find it expensive compared to other major metropolitan areas. They have an extensive selection of classes and community type things as well as focusing on heathy, organic products that make it worth supporting a small local chain.

Significant price increases in recent years have me frustrated with the PCC. The member benefits are also not as good as they used to be. The dividend system has a very low return rate - despite always giving my member number and spending a lot of money during 2020, I got back maybe 1/4-1/3 of what I would have saved with the old 10% coupons. Dividends plus free promotional items occasionally are not as helpful, half the time I don’t use the free or discounted promo item. I often run into items that are expiring within 1-2 days of purchase at full price, and sometimes produce past its prime also overpriced. Those wrinkly mangoes might be on sale 2 for $5 but they’re over ripe mangos you’re still pushing at that price? I also miss the sale area they did away with years ago - PCC customers still appreciate a good deal or discounted items - we’re not above it. Just feels less inviting over all, I’m planning on shopping more at other places for deals where I can save more upfront vs waiting on low dividend returns.

Although this is the closest location to where I live, now that another has opened near where I shop more often, I shop less frequently at this location. I’ve been shopping here almost every day for two years - it’s got great food to go and decent produce. While the employees walking around the store are helpful when you have questions, the cashiers are extremely rude almost every time I visit. 4.5 to 5.0 starsDrama free shopping zone. The parking is ample, the store is clean. And the organization of the foot traffic areas is top notch. Customer service is pretty good relatively to its neighbors. As for the items, I enjoy the variety of hot tray dishes served throughout the week. The produce is oriented well and generally first pick. Outside the store space is not so congested either, which makes for a more comfortable shopping experience. This manager should give the one at the Ballard location some tips about how to operate a business and vet for quality of associates.Enjoy folks~

Great customer service and selection. Plenty of options for all different types of dietary lifestyles and restrictions. Locally owned and operated by the community. And yes, the prices are a little higher than the average grocery store, and what is being provided is fresh local groceries and the money is going back into the local community and economy. I’ll spend a couple extra bucks for that 👍

The selection and quality in this store are excellent overall, and perhaps even more importantly, its the only grocery around here where I dont feel crowded and stressed and where mask compliance is high. The staff is pleasant and nice. The downside is that the prices are, well, Fremont prices. Even the sales make the product prices just about reasonable-ish.

Produce section is the highlight here. Its worth avoiding PCC at certain times however. Busiest weekday hours are after work, 5pm-7pm, yet theyll only staff a couple cashiers. The seeming superiority vibe one gets from staff, to give a cohesive answer to a question any consumer might ask, ie no labels on organic vs. Non organic produce and getting charged 2 bucks more a pound. Asked a staff person in the bulk spices if they were out of bay leaves. Staring at a hundred jars of them and getting on my knees to see them, if it isnt there, then we must be out get your cashiers to at least say the total of a grocery, a plus if they count out change, but they dont. Otherwise, a credit/debit sale, no mentions and no receipt one doesnt know how the hell much was spent. This was the fremont store, i hope the others are better trained. One cant blame everything on Covid!

A few weeks ago I was trying to gather ingredients for a new recipe. I am a frequent shopper at PCC and have always received fast and courteous service. This particular time I was unfamiliar with several of the ingredients. I asked a PCC employee for some information regarding cheeses. This gentleman helped me with the proper unfamiliar cheeses that I needed. After discussing my recipe with him, he gave me some suggestion that I might try to make an even tastier dish (which, by the way, worked). He not only made suggestion but walked about the store to help me find everything that I needed. This all blew me away.I have told everyone that will listen to me about my wonderful experience at the Fremont store. Your employees certainly go above and beyond. This one in particular. I find the atmosphere of the PCC in West Seattle to be a tad more inviting. This one often gets really crowded with Google employees and sometimes can make quick trips a bit difficult. Used to be more reasonably priced for local fresh products. Its still a good store with great selection of organic goods, but the prices are now ridiculous, higher than Whole Foods, effectively pricing lower-income families out of reach. I also find their staff snobby and unhelpful. One time my wife and I saw an older gentleman looking at the hot food counters whom was dressed a bit shaggy. He was clean otherwise. No one even wanted to help him even though he was certainly going to be a customer. We called the staff member over and got him what he needed. He HAD the money to pay for it. It turned out he was homeless but he used to be a degreed engineer whose wife fell on hard time (medically). After she passed, the bill caused him to become homeless. We eventually escorted him through the aisles and bought him everything he needed, just food and some toiletries. I helped him find a job a week later. That incident left a really bad taste in my mouth for PCC. A friend of mine, prior to his untimely death, was a Board member at PCC. It was great then, a truly community focused store. Now, it seems to be just another absurdly priced, snobby palace going after money and not much else.
