We were in Schaumburg area from out of town. Exhaust system was LOUD... I was a bit worried about being taken advantage of....... Larry & Dans / Marty fixed the issue with a $15 clamp. A few bucks for labor and an oil change. Less than $100.00. 1 visit and i know these guys are honest. Thanks for the great service.

Its not often that I write reviews but theres no way I dont want to share my experience.....While on my way to work, I had an unexpected car emergency. I had to walk for over an hour to work. As you can imagine the situation was very stressful. With some help I got my car to Larry and Dans in Marathon Gas station. They quickly diagnosed the car, changed the alternator and got me on my way. They were extremely helpful and also very affordable. I will definitely be a return customer for all my vehicle needs. Thank you guys so much!!

Drove here about 15 minutes because they said they had $3.45 gas on google maps. Big lie. When I arrived it was $3.66. What a joke. Don’t misrepresent your prices to try and facilitate extra traffic and customers. Will never by gas at this location.

Superb service. Friendliest owner and employees around. They are very personable and incredibly reasonable. Unlike so many other repair shops, they do not try to sell you services or repairs you dont actually need. If you work or live in the area, after you drop off your car they will drive you to work or home so you can have a normal day while your car is being worked on, then come pick you up when the car is done. My #1 choice.

Our default place for car repairs! Several times, theyve proven to have the best price and have shown to be trustworhty. For instance they either referred me to another place that could do the work for less, theyve advised me that repairs other places wanted to charge me for were not needed, or theyve offered good, better, best options for repairs. Ive referred them numerous times to my friends. A part of me would like to keep them secret, as the saying goes good mechanics are hard to find. However, they deserve to be known in the area.

The best and only trustworthy shop in the suburbs. They fix it right the first time, and never give you the runaround or pad the bill. A+ service.

Very impressed with this place. My parents have been going for years for their car repairs and now they have moved in with me. So we go back to get stuff done because we trust them. My parents are older now (80 years old) and these guys have always been super honest - good work at a fair price (and my parents have ridiculously old cars - not an easy task.) At one point, I was transferring a 2006 car to my aunt and they helped me with that too.Very grateful these guys have been and continue to be good to my parents.

Slow.

I took my car to one of the national automotive service chains to have my oil change and was told that I would need to get a new oil pan. The reason they gave me was that they could not turn the oil plug, because the threads were stripped. I wanted to get a second opinion and brought it over to Larry & Dans, they were able to turn the plug and look at the threads. It turned out that the only thing that needed replacing was the plug itself. Larry & Dans saved me from paying a $500 bill for something that didnt need to be replaced. I have recommended them to friends who live in the area and will continue to do so.

Worst management experience Ive ever had... the manager is rude. I dont recommend this place for any type of service! I could leave a very detailed memo on ever single thing they done wrong. But Im just going to give them there 1 star, and emphasize on how rude the manager was to my husband when he called about the car. If someone is paying for a service that service shuld be completed and checked over before the car leaves the shop!! And if my car comes back not fixed with the same issue then somebody didnt do there job. Point blank period!! And when I called to adress the issue myself.... there was so much attitude and unprofessional vibes I was just in shock.

Great service... they were quick to fit me in to their busy schedule. Tire was going flat and it was a work day. They saved me from ruined day. Not the first time theyve saved my tire. I highly recommend them for service needs.

Was visiting relatives for the holiday season. My 83 Oldsmobile Cutlass broke down. Water pump went out. Marty had the job done same day so I could enjoy my last day in town. Thanks everyone!

Took my old car there for an oil change and struck gold. Found the techs to be very personable and good at explaining what is wrong without any high pressured sales pitch. Always found prices to be fair and never had any issues after the fact. Now I bring my new car there and my wife brings hers there. After recommending them to a friend found out that her parents went there for years. I could see why.

An exceptional place to take a car or light duty truck provide very fair prices on auto repair and provide outstanding service. Dan the owner is a great guy who makes sure to take time out when he can to talk to you to take in your ideas and such and invests heavily into the operation of the business here. Investing in a business to keep it at top notch service is always a great sign. They got 2 new car lifts recently so they can keep growing the business. I have been taking my cars here to Larry and Dans for almost 10 years. The mechanics if your a regular or not will take the time to get to know you and your car and they treat your car like it was their own. Also the estimates they give for the repairs very very close to what the repairs will cost you most times with in 5-10$ of the quote and you will like your car getting serviced car serviced here

Another mechanic told me I needed a very expensive repair. I brought it here for a second opinion and they confirmed the diagnosis, but suggested a solution that cut the price in half. Definitely the kind of mechanic I want to give my business.

Went here twice to get the same oil change. 1st time I waited 2 hours then was told the mechanic called off and no one was there... the second time the truck sat for 2 hours and when I called, not was called, to check in I was told that he wasn’t able to get it on the lift and was directed to change it from the ground but he pushed it off until last. At 7:52, another 50 minutes, I got a call back stating they are closing in 8 minutes and it wasn’t done. I could either leave it there for the am mechanic to do or come pick it up.

I love this little shop. Ive had major and minor repairs done by them. They treated me with great respect and went out of their way to explain what needed to be repaired and what my options were. I truly felt they were being honest with me and went out of their way to provide me with affordable repair options. I even dropped in the shop one day because I was having a problem with one of my doors not opening for me and the mechanic stopped what he was doing and came out and spent 30mins fixing my door right there on the spot! They guy then basically said What do you think that was worth?. I said, $20? and he said, okay, $20 it is!. Cant say enough good about these guys.

This is my go-to auto repair shop from now on. We had a minor problem with my wifes car and had it towed to their shop. They looked at, fixed it in a timely fashion, and only charged for the tow because the problem was so simple to them. They get my highest recommendation.

My husband and I brought my car to Larry and Dans Marathon to get a second opinion on some repairs that the dealership said were urgent. It would have been very easy for them to take advantage of us and agree with the dealerships assessment. However, after a thorough inspection, it was determined that only one of the items on the dealerships lengthy list of urgent repairs was legitimate and not urgent at all. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the dealership for service and will be using Larry & Dans Marathon for all of our maintenance and repair needs for our cars.

These other reviews have to be fake! This place is possibly one of the most dishonest mechanics Ive ever been to. Do yourself a favor stay away, youll end up paying dearly. like literally, The prices are more then ridiculous, more then unfair. Theyre scam artists to be honest. Ill never be back!

My 90 year old Mom, has a typical 96 LeSabre.........so many things going wrong just from age...only 60k miles...........but Dans has been so incredible at constantly fixing only what is needed each time since she is on a very tight budget and every problem is unexpected and not in the budget. They have been incredible at keeping the car going, fixing what needed it, repairing or nursing really lesser problems. They have gone out of their way numerous times even in going to get her, bringing her car back to her, checking a myriad of things since she worries about sounds, leaks, everything while doing it for such reasonable pricing (and many little checks for virtually nothing since they see shes 90 and doesnt understand anything mechanical.)I am a car guy and dont live close, but when something major happens I get on with them............they are the knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate total professionals you have thought disappeared nowadays that you vaguely remember as a child or a young car guy. The kind you want your mother to take her old car to.............and to work on mine when I really want someone I can trust. Have had her going to them for 10 years. A throwback to honest good work.

An ex co worker introduced me to Larry & Dans Marathon almost two years ago. I had taken my car into a Chevy dealership and was told my car needed brakes and a battery; costing $350 just for a battery, all totaling about $900So I took my car to Larry & Dans, Jay one of the technicians installed the brakes, test drove my car, and advised me that my battery did not need replacing at the time but in the summer it would need to be replaced. The work and the amount of time it took was excellent. And last summer they replaced my battery at the price quoted previously. Fast forward to 2018My car had been making this humming sound while driving so I visited Larry & Dans on Wednesday, explained the situation and Jay took the car for a test drive, returned and stated the noise I was hearing was from a bad wheel bearing, quoted me an approximate cost for the work and he would be able to make the repair on Saturday around 8:30 am and the job would probably take 2hrs or more, so this morning I took my car in around 8 am, the cashier remembered me from the previous visit on Wednesday, she completed a work order and gave it to Jay, who then came out to explain he had ordered the part and it should arrive shortly; which it did and that he would probably be done by 10:30 am or so. By 9:30 am, Jay had completed the installation and taken my car for a test drive !!It was like a new car again, there was no more humming sound and it runs great!The service from the first call and speaking with the cashier and upon your arrival into Larry & Dans Marathon station is EXCELLENT and I know whenever I have a problem with my car this will be place I will take it to for services.Larry & Dans Marathon takes First Place for Services rendered,Reasonable Prices, and Great Customer Service.Thank you ALLDiane Martin
