I serviced my Maserati here due to a misfire situation. As you may know, not many shops in the bay area offer service and repair on Maserati cars, especially classic and older generation with the Ferrari M136 R V8 engine and F1 gearbox. I was having a misfire on cylinder 8 due to incorrect torque made by a mechanic from another shop. I was informed by three different shops in the area that I need helicoil or thread repair in order to fit the spark plug securely. The master tech at Preferred Auto Repair inspected my engine and was able to pinpoint the problem due to incorrect torque than tread issue. He was able to install a new spark plug from the factory under 10 min. The engine now runs smooth with no code at all. They are very honest, professional, and knowledgeable.

Be ready to pay high if you prefer this service guys.. Below is my personal experience and the Car is Junk now.I set my CAR for service on 8/13/2021.The request was for Engine oli change, break check, Engine check as there was some noise at the start of the car and engine light blinked couple of times.After the thorough check they suggested to change series of things: Coolant flush, Engine Flush, Fuel injector cleaning, Spark Plug change, Valve cover Gasket change & Variable Valve Timing Control Solenoid change & Break change. To service this they charged me $2.2K for my 2007 Mazda.Took the car on Friday and added 30~35 miles and the car broke down near to Santa Cruz on Sunday 8/15/2021. There was lot of smoke in bonnet and inside car. We were not able to see anything outside. It was dangerous. The car didnt start. Called Service guy to check the fault about this. They stated that this might have not happened because of their service, he needs to check for details and notified that he will do repair if its his issue. I towed the car to his service station for check.The next day, he stated that there was no coolant and oil, the pressure got built up and the engine exploded because of weak Engine & Piston rod. The connecting rod and cylinder has ruptured creating hole on top of the engine cap. This has nothing to do with Service is what he claims.I dont believe this. The whole thing look like there was a coolant arrest and the Engine got heated up. The pressure was built and the cylinder exploded because of heat arrest. This is possible only if the coolant is not getting circulated to Engineer while it is running. I suspect the above service would have caused this. May be misalignment of gasket or engine assembly or some thing left out in the process. If everything was done well, the service guy should have checked this before he delivered me the car.Value Added Cost of going to this Service is: Engine replacement - 4K to 6K as per the Fernando, on top of the 2.2K service charge which was spent for nothing. I feel that i got robbed.All this happened in just 2 days. Just be careful with this service team. He charges exorbitant and claims no fault of his, if it fails.This is the state of my Engine after spending 2.2K.. Rather, i would have got a good used Engine for that price.. Now the car is unusable.. :-(JFYI - The car has been serviced every year.. It was serviced a year back and i got the report.Also, after the service, you have added engine oil, coolant, engine flush, gasket change, and still the cylinder erupted, dont you think its too much?More over, if you would have told that this is not worth 2.2K of service, i would have stopped the service. You just wanted to take 2.2K and then state that engine health is not good. Any good mechanic wouldnt do that.I also dont believe that Engine will go bad just with 104K miles..I am amazed to see your response after you make me pay for your mistake.

This place is great! My Audi needed a new engine replacement. I shopped around to a lot of different Auto Repair places and finally decided on Preffered Auto. The price and the warranty were deciding factors, but Fernando’s personal attention to what I really wanted and needed is what made all the difference. Fernando and the guys were able to replace my engine and find the right one for my car quickly and I have taken my car to them ever since. For breaks, regular checkups and anything else, this is where I bring my car, because I know they will take care of me

My Volvo 940 had some electrical issues preventing the fan and radiator to work which caused the radiator unit to burst. Angel and his team mended the wiring and installed the new radiator and fan without fail and provided quality service. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone that needs auto repair in the area.

Amazing service! Amazing value! I dont know that I could ever give them any higher praise than to say that my wife loves them all. Its a Sunday and our regular mechanic was not open, but Preferred Auto Repair was, and they saved us by diagnosing and repairing the alternator problem we were having. Plus, the slowly leaking tire was professionally repaired. My wife was able to safely drive to Pacific Grove and to enjoy the much needed time off, away from the stresses of her business, to spend some much - needed time off to relax by the ocean due to our new regular mechanic: Fernando and his team!

Ive been going to Preferred Auto Repair regularly for oil changes and any issues Ive had with my car over the last couple of years. Fernando and his team are professional, knowledgeable and fast and theyve taken the time to answer questions I have about the work that will be done on my car. I also appreciate the transparency; before any work is done expect a call explaining what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix it and how much it will cost.Over the years theyve replaced my transmission, a worn out drive belt, wheel speed sensor, head light lamps, brakes and oil changes. The quality of the work has always been 100% since Ive never had any issues after the work was done.This is definitely my go to auto shop!

- During the covid situation, they do not put on masks. They even got into my car without any mask.- Told me my battery is dead. It felt kinda weird as I had no issue with it. Brought my car to Autozone (0.2 miles away). They checked battery for free and told me it is working just fine.- Their office board days they need to charge 80$ per hour for labor but they charge 100$.Now coming back and reading that other people are also tricked and are lied to and were ripped off, I can verify that this business does not follow any business ethics.

I had a co worker that brought his car to this location to have the brakes checked out. The rear passenger wheel was creating heat during normal driving operations and squealing a bit. After, inspecting the car, Preferred auto came to the conclusion the the whole car was unsafe and he was not allow to take the care away. I called the mechanic, because I am a mechanic and asked some simple questions about the car. ALL the answers were complete lies! He told me the pads had disintegrated and the rotor was almost completely destroyed. He insisted on replacing all 4 brake assemblies (1200$). After the cops came to release the car, my co-worker brought it over to my shop and I took a look at the wheels. Rear passenger had 50% pad left, rotors were acceptable but needed replacing. rear driver was absolutely fine (350$ and a thorough replacement of all questionable parts).Preferred Auto repair is dishonest and preys on others lack of car knowledge. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL

78 year old mom took car to get smogged next door and it didn’t pass and she was told it needs to be driven more and blown out and not knowing better at her age she brought to preferred to look at it and since she had free retest at same spot literally feet way she felt it would be relatively cheap. Well come to find out $1,000 later and finds out preferred took car to San Jose to get smog, even though she ha free retest next door and charged her yet again and it passed. Makes me think $300 to a friend for a passed test which it would of anyways and who knows where the other $700 went. Preying on elderly is horrible. Never again will we go there

I have been bringing my vehicles here to Fernando for years. Couldnt be happier with the service. I had tried three shops previously and had problems with all three for various reasons. It is because of Fernandos team that I have felt confident in keeping my older car. Without proper service I would have just replaced it with something newer.The best of the best.

I had a very poor experience with this business. I was charged $250 (after bargaining down) to change a headlight bulb when I had regularly gotten work done here (spent over $1000 in the last year). The bulb itself cost about $100 (though employees at OReillys Auto Parts said that a $20 bulb would have been completely sufficient) and they marked me up to $180 for the parts. They then charged $60 for the labor (which included lifting the car, unscrewing and screwing the lightbulb). This was I was lead on the phone to believe Id be paying under $40 for labor + the cost of the bulb.Due to my lack of knowledge dealing with cars, I agreed to pay $250 for this job, but quickly learned after the fact that I had been ripped off. I strongly recommend against doing business with Preferred Auto Repair.

Awesome experience!!! My car wouldnt start a few blocks away and we called Fernando, he was quick to take our car in and immediately found out the alternator was bad, He fixed it the same day and charged us way below what most shops always charge!! Awesome Experience!!

Very disappointed! Preferred auto very dishonest... The shop owner will make additional charges without authorization, and told me CASH ONLY!! Also there was damage to a part covering the valve cover that preferred auto caused,and did not replace, I currently have a case pending with the Bureau of automotive repair. Note...at the time of the repair preferred auto had a delinquent license with the B.A. R. Also its very apparent that preferred auto will stage good reviews from family and friends.

He was assured that it is one of the worst workshops in the bay area, since I had a very bad experience of them, I tell them everything in detailFirst of all, since you arrive, they treat you badly since in what you explain your needs they (3 of those who have attended me) especially Angel are on their phone texting without paying you a minimum of attention,Secondly, they promise you many things when you take them to the first service in terms of guarantees and checks and when you take them back because something is not right, they do not want to respond to the guarantees, they charge you the first check and they tell you or we will take it on account At the time of the repair, you take it to the repair and they come up with what or not, it also has this and this and I can not take the payment of the check on account of the service.Thirdly, the alignment and balancing service is lousy since they dont really do anything to you, they deny you the paper that the machine should print for you where the problem tells you, if everything is already well obvious, they dont give it to you because they dont in particular to me. They did nothing to my car, they gave it to me with the air from the low tires and they believed that I was not going to realize it, and that they do so that the cars go straight, they lowered them to 20 and the car should not be So. When I put air in my tires the car kept loading on the right side which is why I took it.Fourthly, they are racist since one of them there said you speak English, I said no (if I speak it and if I understand it) but my answer was no and haughtily yelled at us ok well thats the case that in the end I had to call the police and I got there, thats why I do this as they told us this is really necessary for it to happen to us that more people are practically robbing customers for services that they really do not do, just like all this I plan to put it in all the social networks and pages where you can put reviews of this workshop the same ones that I will put the ones that were granted to me that are specifically for workshops so that this reaches their licenses and permits
