After dealing with bait and switch tactics at the Walnut Creek dealership, working with Irving Chen at Marin Subaru couldnt have gone better. No additional costs and extraneous items on the car that couldnt be removed. Straight forward purchase and I got my new 2021 Crosstrek Sport at a VERY competitive price. This place seems legit. I would highly recommend this Subaru dealership over any other in the bay area, hands down. 👍

I cant speak to the service department, but I bought a certified pre-owned Outback from them. Fair pricing, and Linnea Grayson was able to help me out, answer any questions I had, and acquire a few items that were missing from the car at first such as the owners manual and cargo cover.I am a very happy customer!

Went to my local Subaru dealer and they didnt have any of the model I wanted in stock to test drive, so I walked out. I then did a lot more depth of research to find the car with all the options I had hoped for, which I found at the Marin Subaru Dealership (~40 miles away). I clicked the I was interested button and got a response the next day from Irving. I made an appointment for the following weekend. After test driving the car and I knew I could see myself behind this vehicle for the foreseeable future, so I challenged Irving to sway me from being a Toyota owner. I had every intention of playing hardball and was planning on walking out and coming back to ensure I got a good deal, but after discussing terms with Irving, I was able to negotiate a lower price than I had planned for. I could tell I had pushed Irving to limits to seal the deal, but he was astounding in every way. There was no pushy sales tactics, no grabbing the sales manager to up my costs. This allowed me to get the Maintenance and the Extended Warranty packages. From my arrival to me driving off the lot took less than 3 hours. Everyone I interacted with at the dealership acknowledged me and made sure I was comfortable, and they were friendly and helpful, and I just felt they were honest and not overly pushy. The whole showroom was clean and they had COVID protections and sanitizer everywhere. I also had some follow up questions after my purchase and Irving was quick to respond and always offered to answer any future questions I may have. This definitely had me felling like even though they already had my money, they still wanted to ensure I was happy about my purchase. I know I wont be needing a new car anytime soon, but when I do, I will definitely see what they have available first. Thanks Marin Subaru!

Purchased a car for a friend. Super smooth experience. Shoutout to Will and Eugene for going above and beyond and getting us a great deal and 0% Subaru offer. Eugene had to make a call to corporate to get us approved. We asked them to keep the paperwork ready as we had an appointment later on. They followed through their promise and we were out within an hour. The car was exceptionally clean and Will was extra accommodating. Thanks guys!

Marin Subaru has continually disappointed me. For example with repairs they ordered the wrong part three consecutive times, and with check ups they dont do what they claim: before coming to a checkup I marked a wheel to see if they did the wheel rotations they claimed to, and they didnt! Utterly unacceptable to lie about the work completed. Avoid if possible.

We just got our new Crosstrek yesterday. Linnea Grayson was fantastic, 5 stars all the way.She is the epitome of communicative, pro-active and helpful. We had some special Covid-Related concerns in our case which I mentioned to Linnea the first time we spoke. Four days later she remembered this before I had to remind her. I thought Marin Subaru would take good care of my daughter. So she went in alone for an oil change 3 hours later they had not even started. She waited there and asked every hour how it was going. Sad seeing as we are a multi Subaru family. Thought they would treat a young new customer better.Update. I talked with the assistant manager and it sounds like there was a miscommunication and they are doing everything the can to mitigate the issue.

I have to say, I really had high hopes for subaru given that I have so many friends who rave about their vehicles. I had been a honda girl most of my life, but wanted to make the switch because of how much I liked the subaru crosstrek.All of this said, fast forward 1 year from purchasing a vehicle here, and I decided to trade it in for a bigger car-- the 2021 Toyota Rav 4.I didnt realize how much it meant buying from a place where the people are friendly, and they take the time to ensure you purchase a car that fits what youre truly looking for. I personally did not have the best experience with the people of Subaru at the Marin location. I spoke with one woman, Amy Hutchinson, numerous times and she was truly one of the most unfriendly women Ive ever come across in customer service. We talked several times, and she was beyond rude every single time (for no apparent reason). Sadly it wasnt just her, most people I talked to over the phone there were extremely unprofessional and unreliable when it came to getting back to you-- with the exception of maybe one person.You may think it doesnt matter, but buying from the right place truly makes a difference. I definitely couldnt recommend this place given how much I value quality customer service.

The sales people here are so nice! I went in on a rainy Saturday thinking they wouldnt be busy, but they were packed! Even though I had to wait 15-20 minutes to talk to someone they made sure I test drove the car that I went there to see and worked really hard to get my payments in my price range. I was helped by so many people there and they were all incredibly helpful. I would definitely recommend this dealership!

Hans is a stand up guy. I didnt end up purchasing a vehicle from his dealership, however, when contacted them about a offer given to me by a different dealership they assured me that it was as deal not to pass as they wouldnt be able to compete with it. Even though they couldnt match the offer they were still happy to offer advice and ensure that the other dealership did right by me. Now that is how you remain honest and true to your word.

I have been coming to Marin Subaru ever since I purchased my 2004 Subaru Outback. Their service department and service staff has always been top notch! My past experiences with this dealership is what keeps me coming back all these years and why my Outbacks odometer is now up to 205,000 miles and going strong. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and work hard to keep me informed as to when the repairs will be completed. They strive to stay on schedule and it would be very rare that they dont keep to their promised time to have my car repaired, washed and ready/waiting for me. Their shop is clean, well lit and very organized and the technicians get the job done right the first time. Over my most recent visits this past year I have noticed an added level of customer service to what I already thought of as a great shop. I have to commend this dealership for its excellent service department. Thank you Marin Subaru.

Service department is incompetent and untruthful. Theyve had my car for five days and counting and still not replaced my a/f and o2 sensors. This is NOT a 7 day job! Its part of a warranty repair program and theyre completely unprepared to handle it. During this entire ordeal, theyve yet to call/text with an update and only respond when I go through the main dealership number. And today they straight up lied to me--claimed they were working on my car and assured me they would call me back. Not true. Didnt happen. I would give them zero stars if I could. I will drive to Petaluma or SF the next time I need a Subaru dealer.

Marin Subaru could not have treated me with more kindness and respect! My family has owned Subaru cars for years, and Ive moved around quite a bit, so Ive gotten my car serviced at a few different Subaru locations. This has been my best experience to date. I am a young girl with not much experience in cars, so I always have to be a little concerned about getting taken advantage of. I was due for an oil change. My dad called ahead of time and asked the staff to please contact him directly with any issues, which they did so no problem. Gene, the service manager, greeted me as soon as I arrived and explained that they would take good care of me. He and all the staff members working that definitely made that statement true.I walked inside to get coffee while waiting for the shuttle to take me to the mall (since it would be a couple hour wait). A staff member who just finished making his coffee offered to make my coffee for me. I cannot remember his name unfortunately, but it was obvious he was very happy to be there, and was another member of Subaru who made my experience pleasant :)Daryl, the shuttle driver, was very kind and friendly :) The shuttle service wasnt running anymore when my car was finished, so they ordered an Uber to come and get me when I was done!Mario, who serviced my car, was very nice to me as well. He explained everything they did and the breakdown of all the costs (I did end up needing a belt replaced as well.) As I was driving away, Mario chased after me and stopped me right before I drove onto the highway, noticing that one of my break lights was out. He quickly replaced the lightbulb, no problem!The whole experience from the time I arrived to the time I left could not have been a more pleasant one! :) Thanks Marin Subaru!!! If Im every back in the Bay Area and need a service, I will absolutely be back :)

Two days ago he took us for a test drive, and he explained everything clearly and patiently. He answered all our questions and concerns, and was well informed. While my purchase experience (2x) has been fine my service experience has not. I had a free oil/filter change today due to how badly my service was dealt with last time. Unfortunately todays service experience was almost as bad. They had my car for 4.5 hours for an oil change/tire rotation. I was told 2 hrs. They never called me to say that my car was ready. No apology. He told me that the 2 hour estimate was only if I was waiting for the car and that because I had gotten a ride home I wasnt in a hurry. When I went to pick it up I had to wait an additional 15 -20 minutes for them to bring my car around. I will take it elsewhere from now on.

UPDATE:The Service Manage, Gene, reached out to me after I posted my initial review. He apologized for the Service teams error, took complete accountability for it and made availability in the service calendar to see me ASAP to complete the 12k service. Gene went above and beyond to rectify the teams previous mistake and I am so appreciative of his effort.The service visit was incredibly smooth from check-in to pick-up. After turning in my car, they ordered an Uber for me and sent text message updates throughout the service. The car is running like a dream after the service.Although we had an initial hiccup, the team made up for the mistake and Im very happy with the successful service trip.-------I attempted to schedule my 12k service at this location, after they performed my 6k service. The records they provided during my 6k service, show that they did, in fact perform the 6k service at my previous visit. Instead of providing the 12k service that I already paid for when I purchased the service package, the service team is trying to tell me that they performed the 12k already and they will only perform an 18k service. The 12k is far more comprehensive than the 6k and the 18k services and my record from my first visit here clearly shows that a 6k was performed. This is BS and I am cancelling my appointment.

The service department is apparently not taking any new work seeing as I am unable to get into contact with anyone. Several times I have needed emergency/urgent service and only get the option to leave a message. I call and leave messages and never once received a return call. Those in sales that I do talk to are short and lack basic customer service skills. I will never attempt to contact this dealer/service department again. Go to Santa Rosa or Fairfield.

I agree with most every one else. The sales department does a fine job, and I have no real complaints there. Its the service department thats awful, and Im glad to know its not just me. Theres a lack of basic customer service ( like when you drive in, no one greets you, doesnt act like they are happy to have your business, etc), I feel they push unnecessary treatments on your car to make more money (according to a few independent car mechanics, I probably had my fluids flushed way more often than I needed to due to their recommendations). Ive most recently had a problem with the car, took it in, and they couldnt find a problem. After taking it for a second opinion at Neuhaus Auto, I was able to have Marin Subaru find the problem. 7 years after I bought my car there, I think this is the last time I will be taking my car in for service or repair at the Subaru service center. Good luck getting a loaner car or rental from them too.

Drove from Sacramento to Marin to look at a used Subaru. A little bit of if it looks too good to be true... The website read as if the vehicle was a certified pre-owned Subaru (this one driven by a dealership employee). But, after the deal was all worked up, it turned out to not be certified. Makes a big difference in the deal and we missed another vehicle closer to us to get there. The second issue was the vehicle had not been smogged, (and their shop was closed on Sunday) so after spending 3 hours working the deal, we ended up having to drive back the next day to pick it up. Hans did his best to make up for the error and Id buy from him again but be more careful up front about the website advertising.

I bought a used FJ cruiser from this dealership. I understand the car used is used. I called and spoke with the manager to give them a Feedback I said that one of the caliper bolt was missing causing me to lose braking on the freeway and that its not wise to include a safety checked sticker if the car was not properly inspected. He asked me which side of the vechicle. I told him the front left side. He response we only checked the back brakeshis response was in so many level...beyond comprehension.1. So if I said I am missing the back caliper bolt your response is we only check the front brakes?2. Sometimes its better to listen...I said I am calling to give you a feedback why are you debating with me??

Like other reviews I have purchased 3 cars from dealership with great exsperences. While on the other hand the service depart is lacking in what appears to be training, leadership, followthrough, guidance and most of all customer service. Had my car go in for factory defect(ended up being an entire engine swap),the work went 7 days over due plus the car is still having the same problem! Also please ensure your service reps go through there check list prior to customer pick up. I showed up and my car was covered in bird stuff and car was filthy and smelled bad. When I asked what happen I was told it was just cleaned, lol, ok?! I called to ask for department manager(which was not in) and ask what do you want us todo?. Wow. I will not be buying a car from you again nor will I be using the service department outside factory work.

DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR REPAIR!!!!I brought my car in to get the key replaced, i was quoted a price and gave authorization, then i called to cancel an hour and a half later only to be told that to put the car back together would be a couple hours of Labor at an additional cost. then was told that the original price that was quoted for the key replacement ($450) was only the labor to take the computer out and send off a component and then there would be an additional charge for the Key, additional charge to have it cut, as well as an additional charge to have the Key programmed... I was hung up on tree times, the service manager was not helpful at all. Worst experience of all time with a service department and ive been to several other Subaru Dealerships. take your car anywhere but here. I have a 2015 STI and was treated very poorly. I would recommend that if you need to bring your car in for service take it anywhere else. The time i called to authorize the key to be made and the time i called to cancel was one and half hours.. labor charged to me was 308.00 I had to call the National Customer service to get help with this.

Great experience working with Mario who handled my 2014 hybrid crosstrek. Had a weird noise with no easy explanation. Mario kept me updated on the progress and even went above and beyond by contacting Subaru of America. In the past I made the mistake of going to serramonte Subaru, which had better reviews than Marin Subaru for some reason. Check out my review for serramonte Subaru. Its no good. BAIT & SWITCH!!! DON’T PURCHASE A CAR HERE!!On Sat., 1/14/17 we received a price quote on a 2017 Subaru Forester 2.0 XT Touring AWD Quartz Blue Pearl for $29,282. The “internet manager” Amber Sabourin emailed us twice and contacted us by telephone to confirm we received her quote. We decided to test drive the vehicle and I fell in love with it. When it came time to sign the paper work, she would not honor the $29,282 and indicated it was a “mistake” & the cost is actually $34,000 something and that we can take the new offer or not. They would not sell the vehicle at the price she quoted us because it would be a loss & the vehicle is popular & they can easily sell it for profit. Neither her boss or herself had any remorse in fixing the situation. Apparently even if you have the quote in writing, it doesn’t matter. Subaru’s motto of “Love, is what makes a Subaru a Subaru”…definitely doesn’t register at this facility. I purchased a 2013 Outback. The sales woman Stephanie was great but the manager was kind of rude during the negotiation. I have since ran into some problems with my car. Spark knock has damaged a wrist pin and now I have an engine knock. I have called 4 times for an appointment with no return phone calls. The one time I spoke to the service department, the response was rude. I have to get this taken care of at some other dealer. I dont recommend marin subaru at all. Go south.

Subaru of San RafaelPoor customer service. They told me that the only way to get a loaner car was to come in at 7:30AM. I came in at 7:30AM and they said loaner cars were only for warranty work, and refused to give me one. Also, everyone I dealt with, either on the phone or in person, was a bit snippy.
