I have always had an incredible experience at Royal Auto Group. I always bring my Volvo here for service. I would not go anywhere else. Jim Yared is the best. He is one of the kindest people and he is so extremely knowledgeable of all things Volvo. No matter how busy he is he always takes the time to take care of any question I have. He is very thorough and always lets me know what my current service is as well as prepares me for any upcoming service down the road. My car runs great because of Jim and Royal. All of the staff is great. Taylor who also works with Volvos is also great. They make the process so easy. I also find their pricing to be very fair and competitive. However their service is far above what I have received at other garages. I cannot say enough great things about Jim and the team at Royal. They have always taken great care of me and my vehicle!

Hands down the worst Audi service. They misaligned my rear wheels during a factory recall and now after only 5k miles I have completely bald rear tires that I have to replace at my own vehicle expense. If purchasing an Audi or doing service it’s better to drive the distance to literally any other location.

I recently bought a used 2013 VW and took it here for an emissions-related check engine light issue.While my vehicle was out of warranty, they proactively identified and replaced multiple components which were covered by warranty extensions (benefits of going to a dealer shop!) Other work was charged at ~$175/hr + parts.A few minor issues: drop-off here took a while due to the long line of cars waiting to get into the shop, my cars pickup estimate got delayed by a few days due to parts availability, and my floorboards were a bit dirty at pickup.Ill also say that while the Uber / Lyft credit is a nice touch, their $20 limit isnt enough to cover a round-trip to most of SF.

Although the customer service is super nice here and all the advisors are helpful, their actual service of the car (which is what is important right?) is questionable. I brought in my Mazda twice for the 15k and 20k scheduled service and both times they told they had rotated my car’s tires but in fact they hadn’t. I caught it both times coz I know how my wheels look like and coz of specific chips/nicks on my front tires. And this was after I had already complained about this issue once. It makes me question everything else they mention on the service sheet they did for my car. From engine air filter to a basic battery terminals check. The management should seriously look into the people working on the floor and checking off things they haven’t actually done for the car. I understand the advisors can’t do much since they trust the people working on the car and they were ready to help both times, but it’s a bad rep for the company. Please mark your tires and check them if you were told your car tires were rotated, when you bring in your car for a scheduled servicing. 2 stars for the advisors who helped me and the missing three stars for the people working on the floor. SMH.

I had the most unpleasant experience, did not get an explanation of what was done, my car got out with more dust then it went in with, and they did not do what they were supposed to event hough my car spent 5 days at their location. Honestly... stay away from.this place

We have a brand new Volvo and have had to take it in for servicing on 3 separate occasions. In all cases, we had to wait weeks for an appointment and in each situation, they told us they wouldn’t be able to get to it so we had to rent a car in the moment. This is exceptionally inconvenient since we have a new baby and one car. When I conveyed our disappointment with the manager, Dan, I was told we are only one of many customers and this treatment is acceptable. I’m shocked at how poorly we were treated.

Ive brought my CX-5 in here a few times, and Ive always had a good experience. They are professional and communicative, the shop is clean, and the work is good. You can schedule appointments online and communicate with your point of contact over text, which is nice.

We had a break-in on our car with a window smashed. It was a horrible situation but Taylor at Royal Auto Group made the entire process of getting the window repaired quick, easy, affordable and to be honest, a joy. Have brought multiple cars here and gotten great service. Minus 1 star only because their capacity is not large enough to serve all the customers they have. Appts are often 1 month out. Hopefully one day they will expand and reach even more customers and loyal Royal Motors buyers.

I went in for Spare Key Programming, I but had to change my initial and secondary appointments and was accommodated both times. When I did go in for service, me being a newbie to a VW vehicle, I had a few questions which were answered immediately -- to me 2 examples of above and beyond service. Also when I biked back in to retrieve my car after they serviced it, I received memorable cheerful help getting my unwieldy dirty mtn. bike into the hatchback of my car, which again was WAY ABOVE and BEYOND SERVICE and help. YES YES YES I recommend Royal Auto Service. Just Flat Out Good People.

They are always courteous, friendly and do good work! I requested a several hour window instead of the usual full day, because I dont feel comfortable taking any kind of transportation during the pandemic. The manager Darren agreed to accommodate my request.

Took Audi in for recall on airbag sensor. When I picked up the car, discovered that the backup camera settings had been changed. After reading through the manual, I couldnt get to the solution. So I called the service person (Chris) to ask how I can restore my settings on the camera. He insisted that I bring the car in. Said his techs were too busy to talk with me by phone. But they were not to busy to address it in person. He was a bit abrupt with me. Not at all like my prior experience with Lexus. Very disappointed with the Royal Auto Group service at Howard St in San Francisco

Bad service. The mechanic did not finish working on our car in peomise time frame. Called was first told that the mechanics is talking to a customer, then called back and the person who answered said that the same mechanics was off!!!!!!! I cannot trust them, I will not come back here.

If I could I would give them ZERO stars. The worst experience ever. The opposite of what you will expect from an Audi consumer service. Especially for who in not under a warranty be aware of the fishy and fraudulent behavior that Royal Auto has for clients not under a warranty.Below my full story, you juggle!I call a week ahead to get an appointment for a airbag recall, which was a manufactory issue. I spoke with Blanca Alfaro, and she made sure the parts for the recall were shipped before my appointment. The car was in good condition before I bring it to Royal Auto, but is was not under warranty anymore. As I show up Jesus toke care of it and said he will also run a check to the car just to see if it was everything ok. I accept it. Four hours later Jesus called me and told me that the parts needed for the service recall weren’t there and they couldn’t do the service. Frustrated I said I had call a week before and make sure the parts were shipped before my appointment. In few second he changed his mind and found the parts. I felt it was obnoxious that only after 4 hours they realized that an few seconds after my observation the parts showed up.However, I thought, as long the airbag issue was solved I would have been satisfied. By the end of the working day I picked up my car and Jesus let me sing a paper without really explaining much just telling me that the car was ok and he service was done. I toke his words and forgive him for the unexpected and weird situation he had put me in few hours before.On the way back home my friend was following me with his car and he noticed that the right tail light was not working. So as soon I get back home I informed Blanca by email and Jesus by leaving a voice message about this new issue coming up just right after bringing the car to them. I am sure that the light were working in the morning. After a brief dialogue I could get another appointment to get it checked the next week. So I did show up and ask to check what was going on. And again after about 5hours I got a message from Jesus that only to find out what was going on they had to run a diagnosis only to know what was wrong with the lights. I felt attached when Jesus mentioned that they don’t work for free an that I was not under a warranty. The only thing I wanted was my car back I. The condition I bing it in with the exception of the airbag fix which was the only think they should have fixed in the first place. Jesus insisted on make me pay for a thing he said he will take care of because it was working before I brought the car in. So I insisted to speak with the manager and as soon I did that he changed his mind and want to run the diagnostic for free but he will need the car for the night so I could charge for the overnight parking. That was the scummiest movement ever!!! A really fishy and fraudulent attitude on a consumer behalf. One thing I know for sure is that I will never bring my car there again, I will make sure that everyone I know will be aware of this so called ‘service’. As an Audi fanatic I’m ashamed that a brand such as Audi is represented by an incomplete team.

Customer service is non existent. I have called 3 times and left my return number to schedule an appointment for a recall repair, and no one ever calls back. Royal Motors does not allow any personal contact with a human being when calling its listed phone number. I called the national number without any result. The only thing left is the Dept. of Transportation. Soon after I posted this review, I received a reply from the general manager, who asked what he could do to help. I immediately emailed back that all I wanted was some personal contact to answer a question. Neither he nor his service manager or anyone else from Royal ever responded. Royals apology was window dressing. If reaching someone to inquire about servicing is important to you, Royal Motors is the last place you should patronize. I have received recall notices about a serious safety issue, and Audi willfully ignores my requests to address it. This is how class action lawsuits are born.

I rarely write reviews but my recent experience with Jim Yared and Ashley (sorry I do not have her last name) on Thursday, 7/25 was such an outstanding positive experience that I need to share. My two friends and I left our homes in Santa Cruz that morning for a trip to Mt. Shasta that morning. My car alerted me to engine problem just before last exit to Bay Bridge. We pulled into your establishment, it was really busy, lots of cars ahead of us. We explained to Ashley we were headed up North for a vacation. Within a couple of minutes, Jim presented himself and he and Ashley took amazing care of our situation, diagnosed the problem and made it possible for us to be on our way with a rental car in less than one hour! Not only were Ashley and Jim super efficient, but the compassion and kindness with which they carried themselves was above and beyond anything my friends and I expected. They brought us water and offered us hot cocoa while they got things sorted out. Your shop was incredibly busy yet Ashley and Jim effortlessly gave us their undivided attention 100%. My friends and I have been telling everyone of our amazing good fortune in coming across your shop from a random Google search. Please pass on our sincere gratitude to Jim and Ashley for turning what could have been bad luck and a big hassle into such a positive experience. This is a place apart - remarkable. Recently I was traveling with friends when our Volvo overheated as we drove through San Francisco. This was the service center closest to our offramp, but when we arrived there was something like 30 cars packed in to the service bay lined up for work. Never the less, they squeezed our car in off to one side and said in an hour or two they could take a quick diagnostic look, which we resigned ourselves to. And then after only five minutes, Jim and his helper Ashley (I dont know their last names) came out, opened the hood, diagnosed the problem, and let us know it couldnt be fixed fast. The tow company said it would be a couple hours before they could come take it back to our home town, and the car rental place said they were out of cars and it would also be a couple hours. Jim sat us down in the lounge after we filled it with our luggage, made us hot chocolate, and then he waved a magic wand and the tow truck came so fast we hadnt even taken our first sip, and then the rental car place came at the same time to take us to get a car they just brought in from the airport. In one hour, we were back on the road! When we thanked Jim he waved it off and just smiled and said Were very zen here. Were all human, just helping other humans out. Indeed! We still couldnt get over it a few days later, it was pretty surreal - he rolled out a red carpet for us to be safely on our way well cared for, and were feeling the gratitude. If we had to break down, this was the way to do it! I doubt you could regret putting your car troubles into these hands. Safe driving, all!

Ignore the bad reviews on here. people expect way too much when getting their cars serviced. if servicing cars was easy, everyone could do it! dont forget that they people that work here are specialists, just like a doctor. every single time I come in, I am satisfied. its not always easy to figure out whats going on with your car. these guys are basically car doctors. most of the time they are right the first time and if not, that is fine, nobody is perfect. Adam helped me figuring out an issue that no other shop could figure out and I am so grateful for that. if you have an Audi, you gotta go here. they have all of the special tools needed to get it right!

EDIT: I am editing my earlier review to improve the rating and make things right as Royal Auto has made an effort to improve an initially poor customer service experience.The first week+ my car was here there was a lack of (a.k.a. zero) communication from Royal Auto regarding the status of my car, including not answering or returning my calls and voicemails even after the date I initially told them I absolutely needed the car back.However, they eventually made things right by offering me a nice loaner car for the entire second week my car was in their possession, and offered a small discount on the service performed.Thanks team! I appreciate your effort to make up for a poor initial experience!

Want to warn potential customers that the service department here lacks integrity, honesty and is not to be trusted.Two years ago we brought our car, covered completely by our insurance company, to be repaired after an accident. Following the approved repair work we noticed unusual clanking sounds from time to time. We took the car back to be looked at two times and over the next year were told that nothing was wrong and no noises could be detected. The third attempt we got to the bottom the story. Our car had never seen the body shop in the original repair and it needed to. The service department attempted to replace all the parts and do a patchwork job and did not fully repair or remedy the issues. This situation even went as far as the service dept attempting to blame us for getting into a second accident, which did not happen and which Ron, from the Body Shop (thank you someone honest), proved could not have been possible. After looking at the (still existing) damage on the underneath side of the car under the new parts hiding the original damage. Our insurance was able to reopen the claim and send another check for proper repairs. Im surprised they even went that far. Our insurance has increased since that check went out. The car should have been sent to the body shop in the first visit for repairs over 2 years ago. I do NOT recommend trusting this business. Patchwork jobs for your money.

Brought my brand new car for service last November due to manufacturers defects. They promise you to mail a check to refund your rideshare service for bringing your car in. Until now January, did not receive yet. It would have been fine if they did not offer it. It’s a small amount, just funny How quick they are to ask for a “10” for their service.

Ive been here three times. The second time they forgot to reconnect some electronics and my A/C fan didnt work until I brought it back. This time I scheduled a service appointment 3 weeks out. I dropped off my car at 7:15am for routine maintenance (tire rotation, filter change, brake inspection). I called back at 2:30pm and I was told they couldnt service my car because they were behind schedule. Good thing I called! They hadnt planned on telling me, even after my car had been there for 7 HOURS. They only agreed to work on my car after I threatened to never come back again. And then they had the audacity to advise me against bringing my car in at the end of the month. YOU ACCEPTED MY APPOINTMENT. Terrible service, pathetic non-apologies. Dont waste your time.

I loathe going to get my car serviced. After a long history of negative experiences at dealerships I have to admit: I had a great experience here because of Fernando P.Talk about a patient, professional, and accommodating service representative. I had a third party warranty that numerous repairs had to flow through--Fernando handled it. I wanted to be contacted by email not by telephone--Fernando accommodated me and my 60+ email exchanges. When there was an issue with my warranty companies policy--Fernando made it right.When I got my Touareg back, it was running great and all my concerns were addressed. I cannot stress enough how throughout the whole process Fernando treated me with respect and maintained a calm demeanor, letting me ramble and complain, making me feel like a truly valued customer. Im due for an oil change and new brakes and wouldnt think of going anywhere else. Thank you Fernando--I hope your supervisors are aware of your excellent people skills. My first experience with the service department was dealing with a recall (VW TDI phase 2 Emissions) that stated I would be given a loaner car of no charge due to the extent of the repair. I made an appointment online and requested a callback. After two weeks of not being contacted, I reached out only to be told that they will not guarantee me a loaner car even though the recall letter from Volkswagen of America states I will be given one and that I’ll have to figure it out on my own because apparently as told my the person on the phone, they aren’t connected to VWoA, they only sell the cars. After an argument they stated they’d help figure out the situation with a rental, going against what the paper work from the EPA/VWoA stated.My second experience was today with a routine oil change and tire rotation. They added on a urea fluid fill that I did not ask for and it took 2 1/2 hours overall which included the service employees all eating pizza around my car while I watched from the waiting room. All this for $175. They also failed to perform the recall labeled 60e5 they stated would be done at that time.Avoid them if possible. I certainly will.Edit 2/20/20Along with what I mentioned above, it was discovered today while having my brakes changed that the service department also failed to fully tighten 3 of the 5 lug bolts on the front left wheel. They were able to be loosened by hand. If I could put a zero rating, I would.

Very unhelpful service department, couldnt get me out fast enough. Not so much as a smile. They didnt clean the car after servicing it, and even left behind some trash of their own. I will go back to Audi Burlingame next time, which has much better service (best Ive ever had).

My family has been taking our vehicles to Royal Auto Group in San Francisco for decades and we’ve never been disappointed with the repair service. Recently my Volkswagen Beetle was in the repair shop with a challenging oil leak problem. Royal Motors, and especially Craig Foley were diligent in finding and fixing the problem. Ive always had great service bringing my car for maintenance here - Ive dealt with Jim Y, who has always been available, responsive and friendly. The maintenance is done very thoroughly in my experience, and the results are very clearly recorded. They have a $20 allowance for taxis the day you drop your car off - keep the receipts to claim when you collect your car.

I took my car here to be serviced for a recall. Before I dropped off t the car they took down the VIN number. When I brought the car back for the repairs they kept it for 6 hours, didnt fix anything, damaged my dashboard and then told me that they needed to order more parts. Go remember that they should have ordered all the right parts in the first place because they had the VIN number.Fast forward three months. My car still not repaired my dashboard is still gouged. I dont have time for them to keep my car for 6 hours so I havent brought it back. But now I need a paint pen to clean up some scratches on the car. It took him a day to get the paint pen I bring it home its not quite the right color (once again thry used the vin number to get the pen) and the thing doesnt work.Avoid Royal Automotive if you can. They are super nice but they were really screw up your car.

Do not go near these people! Its fine when youre buying, but returning a leased car isnt possible it seems. Called and asked about returning a car and was told inspection was required. Waited three weeks for inspection, then called to ask exactly where to go and was told that they wouldnt accept the car for another two weeks. They were extremely rude. Said they didnt have room for it. Neither did I because I had given up the garage space. No matter. Said to take to another dealer. There is no other dealer in SF! Bottom line is that they didnt want the car back if another car wasnt being purchased/leased..

Bobby Loi was professional, patient and helpful. He took me for test drive, brought me to the warehouse to check out different color options. Because I have a Lexus RX 350, and I was looking at Audi Q5, he pointed out the differences between the two cars. When I decided what car I wanted, he went to talk to his boss and I got the deal I wanted. It was quick and easy. I picked up the car the following day and he took the time to go through all the functions with me. Thank you Bobby!

I have been coming here for service for about 4 years now, and have to say that without question, the customer service experience is the best I have received anywhere, regardless of whether it were for car service or anything else. Jim Yared is my main contact, and I am always greeted with a smile, detailed knowledge of the likely service needs of my car, and the knowledge that he remembers who I am (although this may be somewhat biased by the fact that the first time he met me was when my car had been rear ended with only 442 miles on the clock, and the second time was six months later, having been rear ended a second time, to have all of the same parts replaced. Many still had their price tags on them. I digress... ). Jim is always courteous, pays close attention to my concerns and makes sure that I receive a clear and realistic (if sometimes painful) estimate of the cost of the work. I have recently had some problems with the engine in my car, and Jim was fantastic managing the process. The work was fairly major and he worked with Volvo to determine what could be covered by them, versus what I would end up paying for (youll be surprised to hear that this was replacing more parts having been rear ended a third time...). The way it was all managed was really very impressive - I was kept informed at all stages about what was going on - and the work was completed well within the schedule Jim had promised to me. While there have been a number of problems with my car, the service I have received would make me come back and buy another Volvo. Now if they could just solve the problem of other people driving into me, that would really be worth the five stars....

I have been taking my A6 to Royal Motors for everything from my scheduled maintenances, brakes, wiper blades, etc. I have always gotten excellent service and never really had any issues. Recently, I noticed that the check oil light would come on more often than not. I took my car into Royal Motors to diagnose the issue. After a few days, Chris Sung, my service advisor, gave me the bad news - I needed a new engine. My car was 7.5 yrs old with 55k miles - and no warranty. I was faced with either getting a new engine or buying a new car (both of which would cost me north of $20k).Long story short, Chris Sung and Dave Barron contacted Audi Corporate to see if they would be able to participate in any type of goodwill/cost sharing pending the root cause of the problem. While there were no guarantees, after reviewing my case, they were willing to work with me. Once Royal Motors took apart my engine, they found the issue and a decision was made to get a new one. Audi Corporate also agreed to pick up a SIGNIFICANT portion of the cost of a new engine + labor.Chris put me in a loaner while we waited for my new engine to arrive, and after almost two months, I finally have my car back, along with a new warranty on my new engine. Not only that, but my car was detailed and the floor mats were cleaned when I got my car. During the entire time, Chris and Dave kept me apprised of what was going on.The level of service I received throughout the entire experience exceeded my expectations and I am truly grateful to the Royal Motors Service Team for saving my car and also advocating to Audi Corporate on my behalf. While I wont be in the market for a new car anytime soon, when Im ready, it will certainly be another Audi.On that note, the final thing I will say is that loyalty has its rewards. My service history from day one has always been with Audi, and that played a huge part in my final outcome. This team values their relationship with their clients and they stand by their products. They told me 2mm were left on my rear brake pads, and that pads and rotors needed to be replaced. I got a second opinion, who measured it at 3-4mm and said no replacement was necessary. I advise getting a second opinion before authorizing any repairs they recommend.

Always busy with all the VW and Audi cars, appointment can take a couple of weeks, but they will try and squeeze you in if its something that needs a quick attention. the other day, i went in with a bulge on the side of one of my tires and they were able to order and replace my tires the next day. friendly service advisors and clean waiting room with TV and cable.

The worst experience time after time. This time they held the car the whole day doing no service on it disrespecting my time. If you cannot deal with the service volume dont schedule me for that day. I came first in the morning just to realize at 5pm that they just wasted my day telling me to come back on Monday.

The price was very reasonable, and they were able to complete the work, while I walked to sightglass coffee. We are a one-car family. Our car was towed in on Wednesday night after we lost our brakes. We arrived in SF just after service closed at 6pm and had trouble finding a spot to leave the vehicle, though wed called ahead. We finally left it in a yellow-metered spot, leaving a voicemail for service explaining the situation. On Thursday at 7am we called again to make sure theyd gotten the message & the car. It went to voicemail. I finally reached someone mid-morning who was unaware of our messages & the situation, but said shed look into it. By end of day Thursday, our car still had not been looked at. On Friday afternoon my husband was told that parts were needed and would be ordered on Monday. Now it is Monday. Someone left a message for my husband asking him to approve the parts estimate (could that have happened Friday?) We are carless and I am still waiting for a call back from the service manager re: the possibility of getting a rental car (update - they reimburse $27 toward an enterprise rental and have extended this to 48hrs/$54 for us after I explained our situation). Of course, being stranded at home with an 18mos old is not the end of the world. We all got home safely after a scary driving experience, and for that I am grateful. However, as a relatively new volvo owner, I am definitely surprised and disappointed by the lack of communication and overall customer service we have received so far. Royal automotives outgoing message says that they strive to exceed expectations and provide the best service imaginable I really find this hard to believe. At this point, I expect we will be looking for a new mechanic.Probably, as one of the largest service operations in the country (also per their outgoing message), they simply find it hard to stay on top of all the details in a timely way. Its a lot of people and a lot of moving pieces. But I dont feel that anyone on the other end of the phone was particularly empathetic to the level of inconvenience caused by their slow process in attending to our vehicle.

Super impressed!!! This was my first experience buying a new car. I researched for months trying to decide on the right make/model, I watched all the KBB videos, read all the reviews, kissed a lot of toads along the way... I had my options narrowed VERY specifically by the time I was ready to buy. Royal was awesome and James J. in particular knocked it out of the park!!! James was very welcoming, patient, professional, and knowledgeable. Having done a great deal of research before coming the the dealership, it was clear to me that James was providing accurate information about the cars and about my financing options. As I was making my final decision between two Volkswagen GTIs, James was patient and helpful in talking through which car better suited my needs/style. Honestly this location has only given me good service 1 time. They have incorporated pushy sales tactics stating that they happen to have time right now if you want to leave the car with them or you can make an appointment over 3 weeks out and absolutely no in between. What they forget is that they have offered the same buy now tactics several different occasions over the last two years. Additionally the technician advisors have not called back on multiple occasions. They even said I could run my brake pads down to my rotors. Knowing better, I did not do this because I knew that a rotor repair would be significantly more expensive than just the brake pads.The only way to reach them is to go into the service center where they proposition you for a buy now or die deal. Frankly, they do not hold a candle to the amazing service that I have received in the past at Audi of Newport Beach.

I was moving to San Francisco from NYC and needed a car by the time I moved here. The only hiccup, is that I was in Russia during the entirety of the transition. I had to somehow get a car ready to lease, while in Russia, and have it ready to drive by the day I got here... Well, Mike Kim and the crew at Royal worked with me to lease my A5. It was ready the second I got to the States. To add to that service, I also got the car for a lower monthly payment than any other Audi dealership in the North Bay could offer. A+. Will definitely get my next car through these guys.
