My dad and I went to remove some corroded screws from my license plate and the staff were helpful, efficient, and cooperative. I highly recommend reaching out to David if you need repairs/inspections done on your car. He helped to remove the screws off the license plate free of charge (even though my dad and I offered to pay for the work). It shows you how much great customer service is a main focus here.

My first review of this shop was somehow deleted, but I wanted to post again because I had such a good experience with this shop. I made an online appointment request on a Wednesday night, and they were able to schedule me immediately for that Friday morning. What I expected to be an expensive fix somehow only ended up costing $14 - I don’t think I’ve ever had a mechanic bill that low! The guys working were quick, efficient, and kept me in the loop about everything regarding my car. I’m new to the Roanoke area and wasn’t expecting to find such a great mechanic on my first try, but I’ll definitely be coming back here for any future problems with my cars!

Gatti Automotive has been great the two times Ive used them. A couple years ago I attempted to change my own radiator (unsuccessfully) and called Gatti to see if they could squeeze me in before the weekend. He said they were booked and that I could drop my car off anyway and they might be able to get to it. When I dropped it off I informed George (the owner) that I was also having an issue with my AC. Not only was Billy able to look over my car earlier than expected, they had it fixed the next day. They also determined that the issue with my AC would just take a small repair to fix. My radiator and AC are both still working today, two years later.On my recent visit I had a list of things that had been neglected and an inspection that was past due. I called and spoke with David, the Service Manager and let him know what issues I needed addressed. He let me know that they were booked that day, but they again allowed me to drop my car off early since I have a difficult work schedule. David was actually able to get it assessed the same dayand called me to go over pricing for the recommended repairs. He explained which repairs were required for the state inspection and which things could wait for another time. I went ahead and authorized them to take care of everything since it was there. He explained that some parts would need to be ordered, but it would be done in two days. I dropped my car off on Tuesday and on Thursday I was able to take it home.The price was fair and everyone Ive spoken with there has always been professional and knowledgeable. Whenever I need work in the future I will use Gatti Automotive.

I called ahead to check about vehicle inspections and the gentleman that I spoke to was very nice and help me set up an appointment. The inspection didnt take long at all and they fixed one issue I had for a very fair price. Also, they have a really nice waiting area with wifi and complimentary drinks!

I’m from out of town. We hit a deer when heading back home. Gatti Automotive was able to get us in the same day. They were friendly and the work was done timely. The radiator and work they did for us helped us get home that day. I’m pleased with their work and would go again if I lived in Roanoke.

So I spent 925 dollars to have my truck fixed They said it was fixed drove it home two days later wont start and when I call to have a conversation about it and was only asking questions about how mechanics work and how I thought that when you went to a mechanic and especially after spending that kind of money that there was an expectation of it being fixed he proceeded to get upset and his tone changed and so I hung up because I was just being curious so in my opinion dont go here. I cannot see a way to respond to your reply so I do not have any more money to throw away I spent 925 dollars to have my truck fixed if you could not fix it for almost a grand I have no expectations you will fix it after another grand or even two dollars

Got me in for an inspection at the last minute.Staff was courteous and gave me a good deal on a replacement bulb. They even warned me about replacing my brake pads soon, most places would have failed my inspection for it to try to take advantage of me.They had a nice waiting room with a complimentary cold soda waiting for you!

Automotive Radiator is where I go for our familys auto needs! I trust them, they explain everything well, and they answer any questions I might have. Most places just want you in and out- no questions- just pay them and move on. But they have always been sweet and care about the customer- not just the car and the money. Issues was tension pulley and trans shifting we were charged quite a bit and truck had no change ran and sounded the same. Truck had a leak at bottom of crank pulley they told me the crankshaft was bad took it to a shop and found out it was the water pump seal leaking through the port holes. There you go you decide.

My Jeep Liberty was having AC problems. When I went in for my last oil change at a tire and lube place (out of convenience) I asked them to take a look. 2 trips and $500+ later, I had a partially repaired AC that didnt work. On the way out, they said, Oh by the way, this will be the next thing to break... etc. and so on. I learned my lesson. They werent the right people for the job. They should have said so, but the lure of money is too great for some. Also shame on me for not seeking out experts.When I relocated to Roanoke, I was nervous about finding someone I trusted. After asking around and reading reviews, everyone consistently told me of the positive experience they have had with Automotive Radiator. I work long hours with few days off during the month. One Sunday, I called to leave a message, but I was shocked when someone answered the phone. In addition, the person on the other end asked if I wanted to bring it in that day (I didnt think they were open on the weekend). In any event, Josh asked me several questions and then asked about goals, budget, etc. After the initial assessment, he explained in plain, clear language what the issues were and what my options were for repair. He gave me a more than fair estimate compared to other places I had visited, and he completed the service that same day. He asked me to follow up in a week to ensure the repair was still correct.Even better than the fair price and excellent communication is the peace of mind they provide with the warranty. They stand behind the parts and work for either a mileage amount or a specified time frame, whichever works out to benefit the customer.I had to take it back later for a continued check engine warning. They checked the code, diagnosed a simple hose that had a hole in it, and sent me on my way with no charge after the repair. It was a simple thing for them, but to me, it speaks volumes for the type of business they run and the people running it.They are a model for customer service and pride in profession.

Dropped my new truck off to Automotive Radiator & AC to get the front right wheel bearings looked at and a few other small issues.....Honestly these guys are frigging awesome.They quickly corrected my problem and informed me about some other minor issues and had me out the door very quickly.I could NOT beat the price...Any were else would have easily charged triple what they charged me.Overall they do GREAT work at GREAT prices!

Brought in my car with a broken AC that no one else could fix locally, and on a time crunch, as I was moving in a few weeks. They were able to get me in quickly, assess the problem, and get my car back in with the parts, and a lasting fix, even under the time pressure I put on them. Staff were friendly, and very thorough in explaining what the problem was, and what they would do to fix it. Price estimates were accurate, and there were no unexpected costs. Knowing that I was heading on a long road trip, they checked my car for me and offered some recommendations for work I might want to do before taking the trip. In all, service was thorough, friendly, effective, and not too expensive. If I were staying in the area, I would bring my car to them for all my repair and maintenance needs.

Had my 99 Ford Taurus cooling system analyzed and flushed today. Cost was reasonable for as gunked up as the system was - making good heat now. Got the oil changed while it was there - no promblems.Very polite and knowledgeable and folks here.

I called at 2 PM they got me in at 3 PM and charge me way less than anyone else For a synthetic oil change, new windshield wipers and changed out my headlight. I went to Firestone just to get my headlight changed and was charge upwards of $100-$150. And it only lasted six months

Took my car here twice. Once for a inspection and once for a 60k maintenance. Both times they were extremely polite and I felt they were very thorough.

Have been a customer for several years and I trust George and his teams expertise. Their customer service is warm, friendly, and thoughtful, and Ive never had any problems with the quality of their work. If you are operating on a tight budget like me (many of us are these days), they will work with you to develop a plan of action that best fits your needs and resources, including looking for used or refurb parts if that is what would work best. They have never done an up-sell to push me into a pricier product than I was comfortable with, like some mechanics Ive had.There are some places Ive walked into where they took one look at me, and my elderly car, and treated me like dirt (since they knew I wouldnt be able to afford any big-ticket work). Not Automotive Radiator. When there has been a mechanical issue Ive not understood, George and his team have patiently explained it to me, rather than taking a condescending attitude towards my ignorance. When my car broke down on a West Virginian mountainside, George took my call and spent most of an hour helping walk me through determining what had happened. Far more than their prices or their mechanical know-how, what strikes me about the folks at Automotive Radiator is that they really care that their customers have a safe and reliable car and the peace of mind it brings, and not just about making a buck. Its this attitude towards customer care that makes them #1 in my book.

First time bringing my vechicle in. Had a very good experience. Staff was nice and seem knowledgeable. I had them repair some wires that had snapped apart under my car and from what i can tell did a great job soldering them back together. Did it for a really good price. Only took them a few hours. Road tested it to make sure everything worked properly and gave a 2 year 24000 mile warranty on there work. Not alot of shops out there that do that. And ive had alot of bad experinces with different shops. Only my first visit but these guys seem legit. Highly recommend

Once upon a time there was a place called AutoRad and it was THE place to get your automotive needs taken care of. Service was good, employees friendly. I took all my vehicles, company and private, and even suggested to all my peers and family that they do the same. Those days must be gone because even with appointments it seems they cant get anything done for me. Service is subpar at best. An appointment was made for an inspection in January. I took it in very first thing, right when the gates open. By the end of the day it hadnt even moved. I was subsequently promised, guaranteed even, that if I could drop it off another day theyd move it to the front of the line and get it done. That day came and again I was there to drop it if bright and early at 8 oclock a.m. Again I showed up at the end of my day to pick it up and to my extreme disappointment it hadnt moved. On top of all of that, they broke an axle on a vehicle of mine while doing some work that i ended up having to pay for. Moral of the story, if you enjoy paying for disappointment and empty promises then this is your place. But you shouldnt have to settle for that, should you? Its a shame when a lifelong customer no longer gets the attention they deserve. Now Im aggravated that Ive given them so much money over the years. 1 star is more than they deserve.

Been a long time customer and had everything from state inspections and regular oil changes to AC evaporator replacements and a new transmission put in. Always quality work and great communication with the customer. Highly recommend these guys for any of your automotive needs.

I was charged about $95 for them to look at my ac system and rechargeing the coolant. They told me they patched the system and refilled it.I went on an overnight trip with my wife in her car, and when we returned all of the coolant was on the ground in my driveway. So a day or two later I called Gattis and asked them what we could do about it, and they told me to bring it on in. This time they found the problem they missed the first time replaced the part and recharged the system. I then got the $215 bill and complained about being charged for the coolant again and they reduced it to $195.I was upset because they have a little warranty section at the bottom of the bill that they did not stand behind, because I was charged for the coolant twice, and because I brought it in for them to fix the leak, they said they had and they hadnt and charged me for them to make it right._____________________________________________UPDATE: A few days ago the owner of Gatti Automotive called me to see if they could make it right and I told him that there was nothing that they could do. However, it does show that they do care for their customers.

Major shout out to Automotive Radiator & AC Inc. in Roanoke. My cars AC died two weeks ago, and summer has started to turn up the heat. I could bare it no longer, so I took it to a local garage...didnt have a good customer service experience. Went to another shop, where I was treated great, but the repairs for just the air conditioning repair were estimated at $850. YIKES. As a last ditch effort, I threw a hail mary and googled for an HVAC Auto specialist, and low and behold, found Automotive Radiator & AC Inc. Not being a car guy, I was patiently told what the leading AC problems were with my type of car, and how they would plan to fix it should I bring it in. Well, I went out on a limb, and took it in, with instructions to also rotate my tires, change my oil, and top off my fluids, and recharge the AC system if the repair was successful. The fine folks there did it all, and for under $530. If you read the reviews on this place, youll see why people have been coming there for years. Theyve been in business so long, that their original customers now have children that go there. Folks, if you live in the NRV and need honest mechanics who are friendly, intelligent, and have your wallet and your cars best interest at heart, you need to go here. Im not going anywhere else!

My husband got a oil change for my truck within the same day it was still ticking and oil was still black my husband said that we should wait a day or so and then call back if the problem still persists. A day or so later we take it to another mechanic who lools at the oil and then looks at us and advises there is no way we received a oil change that same day our oil light came on so we called Gatti and was told there was nothing that could be done $45.00 later. The person we spoke to said it was like that bc it was a high milage engine which makes no sense to me bc ive never had this issue before so needless to say i usually give places a few chances to get it right however this dude was so rude and had such a nonchalant attitude about the services i was complaining about that i would highly recommend if anyone needs any work done on their car find a place thats has experience with ALL types of cars trucks etc bc GATTI AUTOMOTIVE AINT IT!!!

My 08 Civics AC was acting weird. It turned out to be a solenoid was out of whack. After some adjustment, it has worked great ever since.Admittedly, I know nothing about the A/C system of cars. They could have told me there was alot wrong with it. But they are 100% honest!

I met George, the owner of AutoRad, Automotive Radiator and Air Conditioning Repair, in 2006. I was looking for a mechanic that was good with older Jeeps. I have an 89 Jeep Comanche Pioneer that I bought, new, in 89 and plan on keeping it. I was in a parts store, by chance, on Williamson Rd. and the guy there said theres a guy up the street whose is supposed to be pretty good with Jeeps...Thank You Mr. Parts guy !...even though, pretty good, turned out to be a major understatement, and I found a Master Technician vs. a mechanic. Anyway, I met George...and the rest of my review is a reflection of those written before mine...all good, and deservedly so. Since then, I have brought him, and his staff, my 2000-2001 Jeep Cherokee and, the Starship, my awesome 94 Buick RoadMaster sedan, as well. I have, since meeting George, invested, heavily at times, in the repairs and maintenance of my aging, but, solid and reliable vehicles. I like my vehicles, and intend to keep them. I have a mechanical background, so know when a vehicles issue is out off my league...and its time to call George and his Staff. I admire his, and his staffs, attention to their business and positive-rapport-building attitude that, in my opinion (and obviously many other customers, as well) is unsurpassed by any other Service-Oriented business, Small or large. Even though I have a very good understanding of the mechanics of automobiles, motors, etc., I always listen to Georges take on any given problem...and a solution to that problem is found, and implemented. I have known Mr.Gatti for years outside of Automotive Radiator & AC and can vouch for his skill in diagnosing and fixing mechanical problems. Mr.Gatti and his staff are very kind to their customers.I remember an occasion in Jefferson Nation Forest when a friend had flooded his Cherokee all the way up to the floor boards with river water. The water had made it into the exhaust system after the engine died. Mr.Gatti single-handedly cleared the water from the engine, restored fuel, and got the vehicle running. He is now the only person I will trust my vehicle with.
