I made an appointment with their shop to try chin rests. They were extremely helpful and I found what I was looking for. Great service and a huge selection I could try in-person.

I just purchased a viola at Fred’s shop. They had an excellent selection of violas in the size and price range I required. I’ve also purchased a favorite bow here in the past. The entire staff made me feel comfortable while I was trying instruments and bows, plus, Fred is clearly an expert on string instruments. He’s always made time to completely answer my questions. It is important to note that if you want the best experience, and your visit will require some time, you should make an appointment. These folks are busy professionals. We were recommended to see them by another violin professional, we made an appointment, and we were greeted with hospitality and kindness. Frankly, Mr. Oster spent quite a lot of time with us, was patient, and shared a tremendous amount of information with us about our instrument. He was hospital, VERY knowledgeable, and a gracious business owner.

I went to pick up my violin (because they could not sell it), and they gave me the WORST attitude i ever experienced. The older white-haired gent gave me an angry grimace and stormed off to get the violin. The girl at the desk was just as bad. Looked at me and said well you should have told us ahead of time you were coming to pick it up. REALLY?? IM the customer and youre justifying YOUR terrible customer service?? I was going to buy a bow, but they did not remotely deserve the commission. My advice? Go ANYWHERE else. ***UPDATE*** so unsurprisingly, the owner responded and again tried to justify his businesss disgusting behavior. I did not exaggerate or omit anything. First of all, when i went inside, there were no more than 3 other customers inside the entire building. Second, my aunts violin??? It was my fathers violin and i certainly did not inherit anything. Now theyre clearly making things up...
